Baba O’Riley slaps as always, and Won’t Get Fooled Again is a great ender. The rest of the album is samey and kinda just there. Good performing and good vibes, but dated and not really something I think I need to revisit.

Victoria is a bop! Great political stance without sacrificing musicality or fun. (I imagine the Smiths listened?) Yes Sir No Sir is super catchy. In fact, *every* song is catchy and interesting without ever feeling too samey. Both fun and interesting, and something I think will reward future listens.

A toe-tapper for sure. It doesn’t seem to have much substance on most tracks, but when it comes through—Career Opportunities—it really comes through. Probably a good dry run for what was to come?

A classic. Not a lot of artists are as simultaneously ahead of their time and of their time as Chapman was in the late 80s. Fast Car remains one of the best pop songs and one of the best political songs of the 20th century. The rest of the album is packed with gems like this one.

This is their album from immediately before Made in Light, and it sounds like it.

Literally my favorite album of the 21st century so far.

Not sure how this compares to other IDM artists of the 90s aside from Aphex Twin. It’s enjoyable and interesting enough to be engaging. Hard to tell if there’s any there there, but good enough to be worth a second listen sometime to make sure.

I really don’t know why we, as a society, stopped making music like this and started making buttrock instead.
