I confess i'm not a Kings of Leon fan. Their debut album isn't bad. To be honest "Red Morning Light" is a kick ass song.
Aha Shake Heartbreak is their 2nd album. So I thought I gave it a listen. The short tracks are ok/good. But the longer tracks are so bloody boring. I gave them a try but skipped them after like a minute.
So 2 stars for the shorter ones on the album.
Really enjoyed it. I know The Smiths their singles. But never listened to a full album of them. I know that's probably a shame.
But after listening to this one, I gonna listen to their other album(s) too.
My favorite Radiohead album.
And to be honest all their other albums are great too.
Love it! Especially the first 2 tracks. Walk On By is that song that was sampled by Hooverphonic (back then Hoover) for their single 2 Wicky.
Hyperbolicsyllabicsesquedalymistic is one hell of a song.
By the Time I Get to Phoenix is a really fine lenghty track.
Least favorite track is One Woman.
4 out of 5 stars for me.
I really like R.E.M. but I didn't really enjoyed this album. Not that it's a bad album. It has a couple of good tracks on it. But also some boring ones.
3/5
Hey, it's a classic album for some reason.
Yeah, I enjoyed it.
4/5
5 stars! What else?
An absolute classic!
To be honest I only know one Boston song and that's the opening track of this album. So I never listened to this album before.
Not a great album. Not a bad album.
3/5
Get It On is a great song. I hoped the other songs rocked as well. But instead of it you get some boring songs that I really don't like. They sound like T. rex is a Soft Rock band instead of a Glam Rock band.
So i'm a little disappointed about the lack of great songs on this album.
2/5
Sure I know some Stevie Wonder albums. And too be honest probably his more famous albums like "Talking Book", "Songs in the Key of Life" and "Hotter than July" to mention a few.
But this one was new for me. And damn I really liked it.
I know Stevie has a great voice. But wow in "They Won't Go When I Go" his voice is so outstanding.
Honest I am I ain't the guy that loves "ballads" but he does it so good that I like them.
4/5
Goddamn I loved this one so much that the only thing I can do is to give it 5 stars!
Classic album!
9 great tracks. The only one I don't like is "She's Out of My Life".
4/5
Not fantastic. Not bad.
But at least the original "Behind Blue Eyes" is way better than that toe crawling Limp Bizkit cover.
And "Won't Get Fooled Again" is a briliant song!
3/5
Another album that I never listened before. Well until yesterday of course.
I know all the singles from this album (Jump, Panama and Hot For Teacher) but I never heard the other tracks of this album. And well I was suprised. I really enjoyed all of them and really thought that wouldn't be the case.
4/5
It's ok.
Really love Playground Love. Other favorite tracks are Highschool Love, Dead Bodies and Suicide Underground.
Too be honest it doesn't have bad track on the album.
Oh! And if you didn't see the film yet. Suicide Underground is one big spoiler alert.
3/5
5 out of 5, motherfuckers!
First of all i'm not the biggest Reggae fan. But of course I know Bob Marley. I know most of his singles that charted long long time ago.
This album is probably one of the best Reagae albums that was ever released. And I mean for the Reggae fans.
But I don't feel this album. For me it doesn't have any outstanding tracks. Sorry about that. I don't skipped a single track but I was happy that the album was finished. It's just not my kind of music.
3/5
My late father was a big big David Bowie fan. So big he named me after him. So my name is David. If I wasn't named after him, my name would be Jens. That was my mother her chose. Before you think Jens? You must be German. No i'm Belgian.
Anyway enough talk about my little little little self.
I really enjoyed this album. For me personally it doesn't have a bad track on it. And no I don't say this because I was named after him.
4/5
Never heared of this band before. Chance is great that I will forget this band after listening to this album.
Nothing special at all.
2/5
I'm familiar with Genesis. But not with their older stuff with Peter Gabriel as a singer.
Listened to the album and it's not bad. But it's way too long for me. Not that I don't like long songs or long albums. But after a while I lost my interest in this album completely.
3/5
I really really like the first 4 songs of this album. But the last 4 songs are in my humble opinion not that good. So if all the tracks would be that great like the first 4 songs I would give this album 5 out of 5.
Because the last 4 tracks aren't that good:
3/5
What can I say about this album? Well not that much. It's simply a fantastic album.
But I must admit that "Smells Like Teen Spirit" is the song that I love the least on this album. When i'm listening to this album I always skip that track. But I didn't do it this time.
Why? Do you think. Well it's probably because for the reason that some Belgian radio channel (StuBru *kuch*) only play this song from the album. So that's the reason that I like this song the least.
It's not a bad song. But when you hear it over and over and over and over again you get bored. And you gonna dislike the song a little bit. It's like they only have one song on the album instead of 13.
Oh and if you wanna know "Territorial Pissings" is my favorite track.
By the way if you like Nirvana you must check out Thou. They made a cover album with only Nirvana songs on it back in 2020. It's called Blesings of the Highest Order. I recommend it! It's more sludge/doom but damn it's bloody fantastic.
Anyway enough bullshit.
5/5
Ah their debut album! Just love it. Also my favorite FF album.
What I also remember is the damn funny "Big Me" video.
Well I have nothing more to say.
4/5
The music and songs on this album are good or great.
But after 4 tracks I get so bored by the singer his voice. For some reason his voice sounds like he's a character in The Chipmunks.
So that's why this album gets:
3/5
Oh this one...
So it begins with track 1 that is called "Guitar Town" and after 10 seconds he already sings "Hey, Pretty Baby". Is he talking to his guitar or does he want to impress some random women (or in his own words a baby)?
In track 3 he sings "down": Well that is how I feel me after only 3 (!!!) tracks into this album.
Track 4 "Good Ol' Boy": I'm assuming he's singing about some random dog he saw walking down a random street is his hometown. But I can be wrong.
Track 7 "Think It's Over" Well I wish. Too bad I had still 3 tracks to go or even worse: 4. Thanks to the reissue on Spotify.
Track 10: "Down the Road" he sings "You have still miles to go." I would walk 1000 miles or even more to get rid of his music. Really!
Track 2: "Goodbye's All We've Got Left" Well at least Steve is a honest person. He sings "I dont't think that it'll get any better." And yeah like i said he's honest: It only got worse! But thanks Steve to mention this already. You were absolutely right!
1/5
After 10 tracks of the same stuff I think the producer asked him to do something different. And he listened to this tip!
Suite For 20 G is a good track. Why doesn't sound 75% of the album like this track? If so I would gave it more stars.
Now:
2/5
Great album.
I have nothing more to say about this one.
4/5
Nope. Just nope.
How is it possible that this album made this list? Was it chosen by someone that is completely deaf? Well I think so. No, i'm 100% sure about it.
Just for David Ackles his effort:
1/5
Just a classic album. Really love that electro feel hip-hop from back in the days. And probably also the first hip-hop group (together with Beastie Boys) that combined hip-hop with rock.
Well thanks to Rick Rubin I suppose.
4/5
Just a great album. 10 great tracks out of 11.
The track on this album I don't like is "They Say"
By the way if you like Common and if you like basketball watch the "Soul Power: The Legend of the American Basketball Association" documentary. He's the narrator & executive director of this documentary. His late dad played in the ABA.
4/5
Classic album. Hardcore classic.
5/5
I'm not a Lorde fan. I barely now any of her songs. Yeah, only her singles. Or is it only one single "Royals"? I really don't know
First I was like "Do I really need to listen to this album?" But I was surprised by this album. I really thought this would be a bad bad album. But it isn't.
I don't say I will listen to it again next week or next month. Maybe I will never will listen to it again.
But overall Lorde isn't that bad than I thought.
3/5
My second Yes album since my start.
I enjoyed "Fragile". But this one? Nope! Just nope!
In my opinion it only got 2 good songs on it: Yours Is No Disgrace & Perpetual Change. The rest is boring and lame. Oh and "Clap" is one of the worst songs I ever heard. If you even can call this a song.
2/5
Beck the guy that's playing with different genres on his albums. That's always nice to hear.
So this album isn't a disappointment. Like most of his releases.
3.5/5 (for me)
3/5 (on this site)
The Fly and Mysterious Ways remind me of the time when I spent my time at my grandparents house in the summer vacation.
Both tracks were singles in Belgium back in those days. I recorded the BRT (now VRT) Top 30 every week on cassette.
Those 2 tracks are the only decent ones on this shit album. All the other tracks are boring as hell. Especially One. That's one of the most crappy songs I ever heard in my life.
1/5
I'm a metal fan. But that doesn't mean that I only listen to metal. No, my interest in music is very diverse.
But to be honest i'm not familiar with Megadeth. Sure, I know them and I know they are popular in the metal scene. But I never listened to them or barely listened to them.
But this album is a decent one. It doesn't have bad songs on it.
3/5
Released 22 years ago when I was 22 years old. Loved this album so much when it was released and when I was a young man.
22 years later and 22 years older: This 44 year old man still love this album as much like when I was 22 years old.
Is it year or years? Oh well, I don't care.
5/5
Ok, this band is a supergroup. But this album is far from super.
I really didn't enjoyed it.
2/5
2 words: Superb album
