Old man and heart of gold are the quintessential wartime ballads from this album. I hadn't heard this album prior, only the greatest hits.
At the time, im certain there could have been deep meaning gleaned from the folksy overtones and impassioned lyrics. Through the lens of hindsight, the sentiments this album conveys come across as disingenuous or hypocritical. Although that statement is probably more aimed at the generation this artist and album are targeted at.
Jeremy is great, a poetic indictment of school shootings before it was vogue to sing about. The rest is about whatever eddie vedder can mumble wail his way through.
The singer cant sing. but this was from that area where talk-singing was acceptable if you had energy and a mediocre beat. Goofy ass vocal tracks, totally changes the vibe and continuity of the album. The real talent here is in the synth work.
meh. Beck isnt a very inspiring slow jam artist.
very short, but pretty cool
British guys from this era would just cut people out of their lives and internalize anything falling out so they could "keep calm and carry on" . This album came shortly after the beatles breakup and you can hear yoko coming through johns voice in alot of the songs. Imagine is a great song though.
not to my tastes, but as far as rap goes, its kinda basic. nothing really memorable either way
kinda boring
One of the first concept albums I can think of. Pink Floyd was pioneering in the practice of making albums like this and this entire saga spelled out in album form has produced some bangers of individual tracks as well as a cohesive experience to listen all the way through.
bad. discordant noise. Art, not to be enjoyed.
the entire album kinda blends together, all the songs sound the same. Still a relic of the 90s and it deserves a place at the table
kinda of a goofy album. Always thought these guys were british. Hard to dislike, but I dont love them
eh
boring.
This album was honestly pleasant to listen to. I had never heard of Common before and the sound very much reflects the release year. Kayne is featured alot with supporting vocals on this album.
Its a shame Kanye lost his mind and was surrounded by people who didnt care enough to give him the help he needed. A modern Brian Wilson.
Album was good though
eh, not offensive, totally forgettable
I didn't think id like this album, but color me surprised. I count this in the same vein as Garbage and other girl bands form the early- mid 90's. Not pioneering, but definitely a wave of music that has its place and its fans.
Some good Proctor and gable advertisement music in this album for sure.
I like most people didn't realize the long and storied collection Moby had prior to this album and to Porcelain. This reminds me of how blondie is only really known for that one disco track they made, despite them not playing disco music at all. Ill check out more Moby. The album is a little boring though, bit too long, bit too many repetitive samples.
What a banger of an album. Holds up.
dad rock, easy to listen to
historic album to kick off the metal genre, still holds up and is enjoyable to listen to
ehh, not for me
A legend.
