Had to unblock beach boys. Have never cared for them. Does not bode well for this project but gave it a chance. liked maybe two of the songs, one of which in discovered was not on pet sounds ,(hang onto your ego)
Quite good. really liked the longer tracks and didn't hate anything except the obligatory creepy old punk guy song Sixteen, of course
Beautiful album. Wasn't loving the first song but Spanish Pipedream and Hello There were just beautiful. The whole album is so warm and heartfelt. of course love Angel From Montgomery and Flag decal.

Just fantastic, and somehow had no idea that Miriam Makeba's husband was just as great of a musician as she was. Added immediately to a bunch of playlists which is the real test. Reminded me a bit of that Ethiopian instrumental album that I'm blanking on the name of.

Still amazed that this album one-shot like a third of my generation. I feel lucky that i had already gotten into better political music by the time this came out. Listenable for the most part, but really has not aged well. Was disappointed that so many of the reviews on here are either completely uncritical 5/5 best album ever from nostalgia addicts, or 1 or two stars from people still doing the "this isn't real punk, these guys are sell outs" discourse 20 years on (of course it's not, it's Green Day). Or people somehow missing that it's a (pretty weak) satire. I liked Dookie/Nimrod fine but this has never clicked for me and I don't think it ever will.
I'd recommend Anti Flag's The Terror State for a better iteration of anthemic Bush era pop punk with an actual political stance instead of just vague suburban ennui. Or even My Chemical Romance if you want more of the theater kid/mall goth side of things. Although maybe the ennui and bad satire WAS the point.
Not quite for me, the orchestration is a little strange even though I do usually like strange instrumentation and baroque rock, but I did like the vocals and tone of the album as a whole. technically competent oddball psychedelia. fun amount of theremin. reminded me somewhat of Ween, Daniel Johnson, and Flaming Lips, the latter of which I see they're associated with.
Loved it! never really cared for Shining Star but it's a perfect opener and there are some really great songs on this one.
Talking heads so of course loved it. Took a second to get going but the last track is phenomenal, as is the cover of Take Me To The River which I've always loved. Brian Eno production?!? I had only heard a few of the songs on this so it was great to get to hear front to back. added to the playlist.
How could I not love this album. Just phenomenal. Pure warm glowing light. Have loved this album since the first time I heard it.
not terrible but I see why the only songs I've heard from this are the singles. Totally competent but never been the biggest pearl jam guy. Kind of the progenitor to butt rock which I can't in good conscience dock a point for but, think I just hear this music a lot ambiently and am worn out on the sound.
quite good on second listen. not an artist I'd ever really listened to and not really my thing but found it enjoyable! Incongruously made me want to listen to Invisible Touch and Exile in Guyville.

Loved it. Perfect album. Had only heard Sledgehammer and Don't Give Up for the Kate Bush feature. Not an artist I'd explored much but this is pure 80s excellence.

Eh, not really an artist that's ever done it for me.
you know I listened to this a few times in middle and high school, did the wizard of Oz thing etc etc and never really loved it. but it's quite an easy listen and I honestly found it much more enjoyable than expected. of course it's a classic but I wasn't sure how much of that was boomer nostalgia and hype vs how much was merited
pretty great of course. not my favorite but gotta give props for their commentary on our legacy at home and abroad. prefer system of a down but never gonna be mad at a reason to listen to this album all the way through. album cover goes absolutely crazy

was never gonna be my thing but honestly musically fine on its own merit. kind of the Nickelback of 80s pop rock. I do like Bono's voice and the military inflection of the drumming. Pretty impossible to be objective about "message rock," particularly when the message is "help me, Bono, save the world" coupled with years of the same trite neolib slop.

...lol. honestly I liked it the more I listened. reading about the making of the record and John Zorn/ornette Coleman was interesting. don't consider myself a freeform jazz guy but this hit enough hardcore/punk buttons that it kept me engaged. I'll probably put this on at work when I remember to scare the hoes

absolutely all time album for me.
worse than expected. the farty synth and tinny vocals on national anthem were particularly bad. I usually like baroque, arty, wall of sound ambient electronica kind of stuff but Radiohead's style of doing it just never worked for me. this is another one of those love it or hate it artists that I don't think anyone can be truly objective on, hence all the no-brain perfect five or contrarian one star reviews saying I don't get it and I hate Radiohead. The problem, I think, isn't that I don't get it, it's that I don't need or want it. maybe an extra half star because I think Idiotheque is ok enough.

quite nice, although I think I prefer his voice more in Smog than I do with the production on this album. Wish it were a little more county, honestly. this is the kind of music I teasingly refer to as boyfriend music
