fine but a bit bland, morrissey's singing is subpar

great playing on all instruments, with a good mix of smoother and rougher jazz. overall an enjoyable listen, it kept my attention better than most other records similar to this.

energetic, great production, good vocals. i am not an avid metal/industrial rock listener, but i can still recognize and enjoy how good this is, when i'm in the mood for it.

outrageously outdated sounding; sorry, it's very hard for me to enjoy this. they have fun energy but, at least for today's standards, the flows, bars and cadences are extremely corny.

it's fun and enjoyable, though joe strummer's singing can sometimes be a bit too strange for my taste, under the more sparse instrumentation.

i always thought this album was pretty overrated, but these last couple relistens have made it even worse .. it's a mixed bag at best, some great tracks like "N.Y. State of Mind" and "Represent", but also some tracks i don't care for, such as "Life's a Bitch", "Halftime" and "Memory Lane (Sittin' in da Park)", and even some tracks i'd straight up like to never listen to again like "One Love" and "One Time 4 Your Mind". overall a mediocre album with high highs and low lows, along with a lot of meh.

i'm not usually a big fan at all of country adjacent styles, but there were some very good standout songs here (notably, "California Stars"). even with the tracks that i wouldn't consider standouts, they were, for the most part, at least up to par.

many of these tracks are somehow both too basic, and messy to the point where they just sonically do not work. there are some fine moments, but i really don't get the overall appeal here ..
