I love Nick Drake when I'm in the mood for him. Very talented and sad that he got a cult following after his death. Great background music for a rainy day.
Favorite Songs: Three Hours and Cello Song
Least Favorite Songs: Way To Blue
Adele has a great voice and is at her best when it's just her and a piano (Remedy and When We Were Young). On some of the songs on this album (like I Miss You and River Lea) the production overshadows her voice and doesn't fit. The album seems a little disjointed since it goes back and forth between her and a piano and more produced songs.
This album is '25' and not 15.
Favorite Songs: When We Were Young, Remedy, Hello
Least Favorite: I Miss You, River Lea
Funeral was a masterpiece, Neon Bible was a letdown so I gave up on them. This album is better and more like Funeral even though it's longer and doesn't seem to flow as well. Would listen to again.
Also, Regine's voice is amazing, she should sing more.
not as poppy/polished as London Calling but there are a lot of great songs on this album. Police and Thieves is one of my favorites.
one of the true rebellious bands from high school days. Trent is a genius. Don't really have them in my rotation anymore.
Classic! One of the few albums I can say had an impact on me growing up.
An emotional record that isn't too depressing and has a good mix of powerful tunes like Shadowboxer but also calm songs like Pale September. The only song I usually skip is First Taste.
more interesting to listen to with headphones so you can hear everything going on in the background. some great melodies on here and I like the gospel choir. some songs like The Individual and Cop Shoot Cop go on too long and sound too crazy and noisy. parts sound psychedelic and you can hear some blues influence also.
love some Karen O! first part of the album is more punk. Forgot how great Maps and Y Control are. not regularly in my rotation but don't mind listening to it
lots of different kinds of music in this one but it still somehow blends together.
Love ZZ Top and this album has a lot of their hits. Easy to distinguish their sound and has some great guitars that are blues influenced.
ultimate classic hip hop album. one of the first (if not the first) group to be political with their lyrics.
my favorite Incubus album next to S.C.I.E.N.C.E. I love the lyrics on this album. Battlestar Scralatchtica is kind of filler but the rest is solid.
fun album, like the silly commercial jingles in the first half
Sounds like early REM but a little more punk.
good voice, great background music. not something I listen to regularly
A lot of jazz is great and innovative. This is not. You can tell that he's starting to go down the smooth jazz path.
one of my favorite albums by Beck. Great flow throughout the album
sounds like an album the government would play to torture terrorists. some catchy stuff but don't understand the appeal.
the singer's voice takes some getting used to. interesting backstory about one of them disappearing before this album was made.
Enola/Alone is a good song.
classic 90's alternative. Dave Grohl is one of the most talented musicians.
I can imagine people getting high to this. Crosstown Traffic was stuck in my head all day.
like the reggae punk vibes. some of it sounds like a female version of the Police.
classic! hadn't heard some of the deeper cuts but I liked them.
I understand the cultural significance of this album but it did not age well.
Bob, you either love him or hate him. One of the best songwriters ever, his voice can take some getting used to.
classic album with lots of catchy tunes. the fatboy slim is fucking in heaven is repetitive and annoying but the rest of it is solid.
Nick's best album. Love it.
some of it is okay, the Naag Devta song is annoying
love New Order, they're usually in my rotation. The Perfect Kiss is the best song on this album.
One of the best vocalists ever
I dig it, used to listening to Snap! I'll have to add this to the rotation
I like Kings of Leon. Haven't listened to them in a while. At some point a lot of their music starts sounding the same.
my favorite Aerosmith album! Alicia Silverstone and Liv Tyler music videos are cool and all but this is their best era.
Early U2 is great. This is arguably one of the best next to Joshua Tree.
this album got me more into hip hop DJs. Midnight in a Perfect World is one of my favorites.
I like Blur, Damon Albarn is a great musician.
not as good as Pink Moon imo but still great music. Wish he was still around and making music.
classic! one of the most influential hip hop albums of all time
love Curtis Mayfield's style. Have only heard a couple of songs on here before but great album.
one of those albums where I've heard some of the songs before but never knew who they were by. I like it, my kind of chill music
Method Man's voice is one of my favorites. I remember when someone got the chance to interview him on an MTV contest and they had no idea who he was.
cool story behind this one. a girl booked the concert. Keith wanted a specific piano but the one she had was out of tune and had keys that would not work. He performed anyway but told her to record it so other venues would know why he wants a good piano for concerts.
more experimental with Fripp and Eno than straightforward rock ones. not my favorite Bowie album. It kind of loses me towards the end
much different than the typical Motown sound. Mixes soul, gospel and even psychedelic elements. total classic.
short album but full of punch, i dig it
I like it. Less cheesy than I thought they were. may end up adding it to my regular rotation. Comfortably Numb is different enough to not sound like a straight up cover of it.
love this album. Liz Phair was great before she turned poppy.
the definitive Police album. Mother is the only song worth skipping.
a nostalgic album about what England once was. no hits on here really except for a couple of songs later used in Hot Fuzz. not commercially successful at the time. (also released the same day as The Beatles White Album).
one of the top influential jazz artists, true talent
almost more like a Wu Tang album than a solo one since they all appear on it. the group's contract allowed them so sign solo deals with other labels. GZA might not have had the commercial success of Method Man or ODB but he's arguably the most talented.
another Bob Dylan, i prefer his live stuff to his studio stuff so there's that.
i like the samples and beats, it's hard to appreciate rap in different languages because i don't understand the word flow and nuances that come with hip hop
Bob is obviously the most popular reggae artist that brought it into the mainstream. Many classics on this album like Exodus, Jamming, Waiting In Vain and Three Little Birds.
unpopular opinion but I love this album. has some really good songs on it.
their first album of all original material. two big hits in Paint it Black and Under My Thumb.
classic, one of my favorite R&B singers that sounds even better live.
love the Cramps and this age of punk music
Sufjan was planning on doing an album for every state but has only done Illinois and Michigan. My favorite album by him. Illinoise has also become a musical. Almost as good as his Christmas music.
I love the voice and the mood. Used to listen to the Knife but never got into Fever Ray and their solo work before.
like Donovan but not as poppy and a little darker. doesn't hold up well over time
no denying his great voice, this album has some good songs but most of it seems to wander and not have focus. I like the more upbeat pop songs.
Some good songs on here. Kind of held up but most of it seemed like it’s just shock value and offensive
Dr. Dre is better at producing than rapping which is why this features Snoop Dogg's and others prominently. Highly influential hip hop album that defined 90's west coast rap.
nice harmonies, i like this era of music
the most influential metal album of all time. so many genres and subgenres came from their music.
Sounds okay, pretty generic BritPop
more folky and acoustic than their previous 2 albums. still some blues and rock on here also.
I don’t always listen to jazz but when I do it’s jazz like this
Never got into PJ Harvey a lot but I like it, good vocals and good guitars
I like the guitar but most of the time this dude’s voice is unbearable. He sounds worse than Bob Dylan.
Q-Tip is one of my favorite MCs of all time. Never got into his solo stuff before other than songs on mixtapes.
heavy influence on the future of Americana
arguably where Bowie reached his full potential. an eclectic mix that isn't incoherent, kind of like a Beatles album
one of the last great REM albums. different than their earlier music but still great songs.
love the African influence on this album. also has one of his biggest hits, You Can Call me Al. used to love the music video with Chevy Chase growing up. This album and Rhythm of the Saints is all the Paul Simon you need.
the defining progressive rock album. their lineup completely changed after this album and they never made an album as solid as this one. Greg Lake's vocals are on point and mesh well with Fripp's guitar. Moonchild is the lone weak song.
it's ok, not really into synth pop. their songs sound kind of quirky and repetitive.
his voice is a little over the top for me. some of the songs are okay but most of it is tedious and hard to listen to.
it's okay, a little bit better than generic Brit Pop that's on the list
it's ok. people love this album but not really sure why. It's Willie doing jazzy standards. kind of like Elvis Costello did after the Attractions. This was a risky move for Willie to do at the start of his career.
i'm one of the few people that actually like Oasis. This is one of their best albums.
sounds like Grizzly Bear and Band of Horses. They have some good songs. some of it sounds like 60's folk.
like the singer's voice although it can get old at times. I like their style. It's different than other British stuff
some of the melodies are cool, a little noisy in places. okay for background music I guess?
my favorite Beastie Boys album, a step up from Licensed To Ill. More sampling and less hard rock than their first record. great production by the Dust Brothers.
about the only modern hip hop artist I can stand. some great songs on here. can be kind of long at some points but it flows well
the album where Queen got less progressive and more metal and pop oriented. kind of defined where the rest of their career would go
it's ok. I can understand and appreciate their talent but smooth jazz isn't really my thing.
the kind of punk i like when I'm in the mood. the songs are really short but the album flows well.
i like this period of music. of course white rabbit is amazing. has bluesy songs like in the morning that i didn't realize they did.
I remember the music video for One with all the war footage. great album and different from the other hard rock out at the time.
arguably Pink Floyd's best album next to the Wall.
i've been listening to a lot of CCR lately. great catchy songs that fit with the time.
love Limelight and Tom Sawyer, never really got into their deep catalog
this is probably blasphemous and un-American to say but I think Bruce is mediocre. some good songs but most of them are meh.
can be fun if you're in the right mood. other times it can be tedious and boring.
my favorite Smiths album although I usually listen to Louder Than Bombs which is their greatest hits. Several of the songs on here are also on that.
the beginning of the hip hop movement.
sounds very 80's. Wishing Well is as catchy as always and is stuck in my head now. didn't realize he changed his name and even Spotify changed the name of the album.
never can go wrong with Jimi
is it blasphemy to say most of Stevie's songs start to sound the same?
Public Image Ltd had some good songs, this is just cheesy. pass the velveeta
