This is definitely a slow burn. Not the sort of music to give instant satisfaction or hit you with the catchy tunes. I think I could love this after another 20 listens but after 1 listen it hasn't grabbed me. I can see the influence this could have had on Radiohead and there change going forward from Ok Computer to KidA and beyond. Very interesting listen but not engaging enough to be an instant love.
Although I have enjoyed Spiritualized tracks before I found this a hard listen. The tracks seemed to blend over each other and I was wanting some change and development. Thought the first track was best
Not really my thing. It started off well with the intro, but the mix of metal guitars, cringe juvenile references to themselves and hip hop doesn't work. Shame as when it was more mellow it was getting somewhere.
Sounds like an Austin Powers music night. Not engaging enough for me.
Had a few good tracks the elevated above general 70s rock but I didn't find it that interesting as a whole album.
A few good tracks that I was aware of before this 1st album listen. There are too may samey tracks though and not the variety to make it interesting.
Interesting samples but ruined by the nigger this, nigger that rapping
A good listen, already familiar with Amy from back to black. First time listening to this. Her vocals carry this and it would need several listens to fully appreciate.
I was aware of their 'hits' before but hadn't listened to this album before. It is a fascinating listen and like nothing I have heard before. You can tell that this has had major influence on many bands and genres following its release. This is an album that I will listen to many times again, memorable.
A lot better than I thought. I was aware of a couple of tracks before but was surprised what a decent listen this was
Can't stand the man
Would rather listen to the real punk/new wave rather than this 20 year's too late sanitized rubbish. Not for me
I liked the 'live' sounding recording of this. Most tracks were hit and miss. Not really my thing but okay.
Excellent album. Will listen again
Still sounding fresh and vibrant after 50 years. Excellent
A Debut solo album from the unique and influential singer. Highs and lows within but always interesting.
Bit too old school country for me. Liked a couple of tracks
Oh dear.....
Really surprised how good this was. A good listen
Hadn't really listened to an album by Van before and this was decent. Great vocals and the music didn't sound too sixties.
Absolute drivel. Why the fuck is this included???
I remember this from the time, especially message in a bottle. Sort of pleasantly washes over you rather than grabbing you by the throat. An average album
Not for me at all
A good live album.
Not as good as I was expecting.
Nah
Decent, another girl another planet is on a different level to other tracks
5th rate Beatles
Not available to stream. Remove please
Bah!!!
Some stand out tracks but some fillers too. Overall decent but not their best
An interesting listen.
One stand out track I knew from before, pleasant background music
Already a favourite of mine
Not my thing
not great
not my thing
oh dear
Good album with some stand out tracks
meh
Brought this when it came out. Good but not great debut album
Pretty chilled put but not exciting
was horrific on the 80s couldn't listen to this
Not a great debut.
pretentious drivel
Excellent final album from the superstar of music
This has some good tracks but they bleed into one.
The Killing Moon, I bought as 12 inch single when it came out. An excellent track that is so much better than anything else on this album
An okay debut. Quite raw production, not too polished but no absolute bangers here
Already very familiar with this album. A great listen
Morrissey is unique, there are those that adore him and those that loathe him. I am somewhere in-between. This is a decent album but not as good as his debut solo album .
Familiar with this album. Some great tracks
Bought this on CD 25 years ago and have listened regularly since. It is a classic
Sounds really dated and much better music from this period around. Washes over you
Some tracks okay, like the vocals. Not a great blues fan
Really surprised how good this was
Americans don't do punk. Mostly boring and pretentious
Not as good as I thought it would be.
From my youth, had this album and in the UK that year Human League were Huge! Some has past the test of time some hasn't. 3 out of 5
very long songs with a dire vocal
Nothing to get excited about, same boring rhythm and fades into dreary background music
Overrated at the tine and still
Organ was annoying after a few tracks. Reward is a good track
I was expecting a classic instead i get hippy lyrics , boring music and a very dated sound.
Had this album in various forms for decades. It ages really well, still sounds fresh and engaging, a reggae classic
A bit of a surprise that it sounded nothing like their tracks I was familiar with. Nothing really grabbed me though
I used to be a huge fan, from their debut to Joshua tree, all bought on vinyl on day of release. They then started to bore me an Bono become insufferable. I never bought or hardly listened to any of their releases. I hoped I may have missed something but listening to this dull flaccid awful album shows I had good judgement. A travesty to be on the top 1000, this is becoming a theme.
Wasn't my thing back in the day and haven't changed my mind
I am old ..T Rex's 20th century boy was the first single I ever bought as an 8 year old in 1973. My sister had the Metal Giru single and soon after I bought a 'hits' album of Marc Bolan & Trex. Since then I have never tired of their music. Marc was taken way too early and at the time was helping Punk and new wave bands by them appearing in his show in UK. This album is still fresh all the way through a solid 4 out of 5
Not Lydons best. Public image the single is a fantastic track, nothing else matches it.
Very interesting listen. I think this might be a grower and will listen again.
Interesting, not sure if its really my thing though
Knew most of the tracks on the album but hadn't listened for a long time. Sounded fresh and vibrant, some great tracks
Nah
A decent album with sone good tracks a 3 put of 5
Really enjoyed this album.
Bought this when it came out and return to it every so often. Good album
Post punk goodness
A very good album. Lots of variety. One of my favourites from 21st century
Great cover, a couple of good tracks but not really my thing
Not their best, other than 2 tracks not a patch on the energy of their first 2 albums that are classics
Never been a fan. It has some history vut apart from a couple of tracks not great
Some good tracks some not so good. For its age the recording wasn't that great. 2 to 3 star
Bog standard really 2.5 out of 5
Bought this when ot was released. Still listen occasionally. Some good tracks.
At the tome this cane out I was into punk and reggae so this would have been a never listen to band. This is actually not a bad debut album, bit pub rock
no no no
Another truly overrated performer. Fu**ing awful vocal
starts well but gets tiring
Not their best. Really poor
A decent album from the 80s. I like Lloyd cole
was enjoying the first couple of tracks then was hit with some crappy 80s heavy metal boring shit. A couple of really good tracks but too much crap
okayish
started off interesting then become boring
I bought this as a real metal box when it came out with 4, 12 inch singles in a metal tin. It is not an easy listen but I think there are a few gems here. Hasn't aged greatly but an important album for the time.
Decent recording for a live gig in 60s but not really my thing
Apart from one song a completely overhyped and disappointing album. Whiny voice almost as bad as Dylans
Starts of well then fizzles out
Nothing great here. The cover of love hurts is ok
Not great as an Indie fan
not setting the world on fire
not for me
nah
First few tracks I liked but then it become a bit samey
Bought this when it came out. Still sounds good
okay as background music. Doesn't excite me
Thought this would be better, disappointing
interesting but not in a great way
not my thing
very good album. Had this when it was released. Gone too soon
Excellent album. The dub version of this album (Garveys Ghost) is in my top 20 albums of all time
bit of a drone after a while, expected more from the late to the party punks
More interesting as a historical document more than enjoyable, I think you had to be there.
nah
I like the xx but this is not their best
don't like this band overrated
not my thing
