Lost Souls
DovesVery nice guitars, lots of diverse sounds. Liked the harmonica bits a lot. Vocals could have been better. Unexpected but appreciated

Think I would have enjoyed this more if I just read the lyrics on their own, which were especially good in sad-eyed lady of the lowlands. I find the actual musicianship uncompelling in modern listening formats, the harmonica is pretty grading. Still need to watch A Complete Unknown
I like when he was like “got my hubububllbllhlblhb working”. Dudes got charisma
Some cool sounds and synths but the songwriting is pretty drab and uninspired. Minimalist in a way that leaves a lot to be desired. Melodramatic in a way that does not land at all. Weird in a way that’s cringy. “Nothing” was great but otherwise not a fan
Really awesome mesh of blues and rock. The riff in dazed and confused is iconic. Jimmy page loves a chromatic walkdown. Lots of fun sequences that keep some of the longer performances entertaining
I really like this album, and the smashing pumpkins in general. Billy corgan’s shrieking “woe is me” voice is not for everyone, but it just clicks for me, probably because I grew up listening to it. Lots of good hard rock and even better sentimental moments like on cupid de locke. My main gripe is that there’s too much filler, which is tolerable in disc 1 but ends up really dragging in disc 2. I usually don’t feel inclined to listen to the full 2 hours, so it ends up being a grab bag of songs, some of which end up being my favorites ever. Throw 1979 on the first disc and just release that and it’s a perfect album for me. The best parts shine bright, but if I’m meeting this album where it’s at, it starts to lose me after tales of a scorched earth
Very definitive sound of the 60’s. Lots of cute love songs, nothing other than butcher’s tale that I was overly impressed with. Butcher’s tale is awesome. I actually think I like chris white’s voice more than colin blunstone’s. Worth a relisten later
Really not in the mood for this. Listened to two songs and got nausea thinking of listening to the rest of it.
Fun live album. Not much else in particular to note. Getting tough to do these 1hr+ sessions, hoping I get some more compact records again soon
Some decent britpop but some of it just came off as perverted. Pencil skirt is an atrocity to mankind. The writing can be clever at some points but it’s just kind of vile overall. The whisper style vocals don’t do it for me at all
What a treat this is. Barebones, but still scratches every musical itch I have. Absolutely going in the rotation. Infectious grooves, creative basslines, really fun incorporation of electronic elements. Ambitious project for the time that pays off so well. LOVE shara nelson in this. Also Free Palestine.
Fun riffs, enjoyed the pacing. More songs I recognized on here than I thought. Overall enjoyable even though they use like 4 chords the entire album
Her voice can get kinda annoying at times, but damn she knows how to scream. I liked how weird the lyrics were. “Pee girl gets the belt” is a particular favorite. Campy but still sincerely feminist. Guitars were great too
Holy shit dude. How do you even manage to get such a compilation of legendary songs in one album. Not only that, the sequencing is phenomenal. Yeah we’re starting out with war pigs and paranoid. Jesus. Even then planet caravan is a great calm before the storm. Every song plays with unique and interesting phrases, and always manages to find its way back to the premise. I played this shit at 7am and now I feel like I took crack before work. AND great storytelling about war. RIP ozzy
Not the same lyrical chops as the height of The Beatles, but still really fun and satisfying tunes. Well put together and an easy listen overall
A historical landmark in jazz, for sure. Is it interesting, captivating? Maybe this is sacrilege, but eh? Quite a lot of talent on display, with some impressive solos. But I guess it didn’t leave much of an impact
Some recognizable songs that are decent, but boy this is really one note. Nothing ever progresses in each song. Also the drums man. The drums are AWFUL. The hats sound like shit. If the point of Ford commercial music like this is to be hell yea brother epic, then it should actually try to be a little more epic
Not my typical sound, but I like this a looot. Combines a lot of elements in an interesting way. Dark, gloomy, indie, noisy. Great hook writing and lyricism. Her vocals fit very well. Creative vision on point, except for the fact that this album is not garbage!
Complete trash. Shit from a butt. Almost puked at some point. Hate his voice. Stupid recommendation. Needed to listen to ben folds as a palate cleanser after this
Some hits, some misses, but consistently has sweet harmonies. Lyrics have not aged well though. Hard to get past that
It’s a real bummer the direction coldplay went. They just can’t seem to create the magic of their first few albums. And I think it has to do with exactly that, they’re TRYING to make a magical experience. It’s paradoxical in a way. But on Parachutes, it seems effortless, the sentimentality is treated as a foundation for the music, not as a deliberate product of it. They’re not aiming to do anything impressive here, the songwriting is very simple, but it’s so tasteful that it only makes sense it’s as timeless as it is. Sparks into yellow…. wow. Such a sweet album, but damn I really hate what this band turned into
Really thought an hour of beastie boys would get tiring, but I was gladly wrong. A boatload of fun packed with referential humor and grandiosity. Maybe could be slimmed down a little, but kept my attention very well the whole time
Fun, enjoyable experience. Interesting genre fusions, good hooks and verses. Liked the classic rock samples. Nothing I was blown away by.
Torn on this, after a slow start the music is pretty compelling. Vocals are laughably bad at first, then they get slightly better but they’re still not really good. I do really like the mid section of this album, but it’s a lot of hits and misses overall. The screaming on Don’t is awful but it’s kinda funny so in a weird way I like it? The desperation of it is relatable too. I’m just perplexed by this. At least it’s not a boring listen!
It accomplished its goal, which was to make me feel empty inside. Experimental but not cohesive.
I’m in a good mood today and this was pleasant. Hell yeah
Torn on this one. Minus anthony kiedis they’re a really talented band but it’s hard to enjoy much else because fuck anthony kiedis. They have a good sound overall, but it’s a very one note album. Under the bridge is sweet, some of the other tracks get old fast. Lyrics aged horribly. Did I say fuck anthony kiedis?
Pleasant. Enjoyed his voice and the orchestration. Not much else to say
Very strong first half but it kinda simmers out. I love pretty much all the songwriting here, it’s very creative. Just wish it carried the energy throughout the whole album. And yeah we do need more silly men.
Really sweet and whimsical. Feels like they’re giving you a nice bedtime story.
Oh yeah THIS is music. Raw instrumentation and storytelling. Love it.
I get blues fatigue pretty easily but I actually enjoyed this. Worth revisiting
Nah, hell with it. This is perfect. This shits for real yearners. Fuck ME this is good shit. Come on
Some interesting the cure-type stuff! A bunch of atypical harmonies that I really enjoyed. Not bad
Sex machine does NOT need to be that long but it’s a cool bluesy album
It’s typical bowie for the most part, maybe less iconic than ziggy stardust, but the ~3 song stretch of atmosphere was really captivating for me in my opinion. And all that into secret life of arabia makes it click SO much more
INSTANT favorite. Thoroughly impressed front to back. Unbelievably raw harmonies, buttery smooth production, diverse styles coalescing into a honest to god masterpiece. WOW I can’t get enough of this. I’m shocked at the mediocre rating this got. Did y’all listen to the same album as I just did?
Inoffensive reggae. Enjoyable
Pretty solid! Short and to the point with memorable licks
Hard to go wrong with really any of fleet foxes discography. Gorgeous album with ethereal harmonies
