Pleasantly surprised, didn't know what to expect, but it went pretty hard A bit indulgent on the piano at times, but I'll let it off

Tedious, unimaginative, and poorly executed Should be held to account

solid bit of country, more of a 2.5

With The Beatles by Beatles
May 28 2026

like fine, but no need for it to be on here

Berlin by Lou Reed
May 29 2026

had some 4 tracks, had some 2 tracks, meets in the middle overall

Hard Again by Muddy Waters
Jun 01 2026

classic blues, especially the first one he does seem a bit horny so the title is appropriate

Seventeen Seconds by The Cure
Jun 02 2026

I was kinda disappointed because it doesn't have any of their bangers on there

Colour By Numbers by Culture Club
Jun 03 2026

Yeah, one hit at the start, then a pile of samey pop

Nick Of Time by Bonnie Raitt
Jun 04 2026

better than expected

Disintegration by The Cure
Jun 05 2026

decent enough, but where are the bangers?

I Should Coco by Supergrass
Jun 08 2026

solid enough 2nd tier Britpop, could have been a 4 but let itself down with some nonsense towards the end

The Only Ones by The Only Ones
Jun 10 2026

Another Girl Another Planet is good but the rest isn't

Shaka Zulu by Ladysmith Black Mambazo

Green Onions by Booker T. & The MG's
Jun 18 2026

In Our Heads by Hot Chip
Jun 19 2026

kinda fine, just not very interesting, a bit too electric for my tastes

Jun 23 2026

could definitely have been a 3 (maybe a 4) if they engaged in some more self-editing

Phaedra by Tangerine Dream
Jun 25 2026

was very scared until I realized it was just the first 4 tracks. But still, what?

1977 by Ash
Jun 26 2026

definitely has some "album tracks" on there, but still holds up well, big nostalgia value

Hot Rats by Frank Zappa
Jun 30 2026

He got all the instruments out of the library, and wanted to get his money's worth. Very bizarre, including the weird little comedy character at the start of track 2. Credit where it is due, the first 30 seconds of 2 or 3 of them would be good theme tunes for snooker highlights on the BBC, but then just goes on way too long.

Surf's Up by The Beach Boys
Jul 01 2026

that wasn't very beach boys-y

Street Signs by Ozomatli
Jul 02 2026

kinda fine, quite backgroundy, couple were decent. Overall not quite worth the effort

Eternally Yours by The Saints
Jul 03 2026

just a bit meh, singer's voice had that annoying quality that was quite prominent at this time. Last track had some nonsense which was the decider between 2 and 3

Off The Wall by Michael Jackson
Jul 06 2026

it has some bangers, so flirted with a 4, but not consistent enough, plus the broader context, earns Jacko a 3 here

We Are Family by Sister Sledge
Jul 07 2026

Had some bangers, had some meh

Deserter's Songs by Mercury Rev
Jul 08 2026

yeah I really like a couple, but the rest is too weird

American Gothic by David Ackles
Jul 09 2026

quite enjoyed it, as discussed, feels very of its time

Fleet Foxes by Fleet Foxes
Jul 14 2026

very of it's time, nice for having a quiet coffee and cake to or whatever, but doesn't give me much beyond that

...And Justice For All by Metallica
Jul 15 2026

what about justice for my ears? Honestly, this is just drivel. All the songs sound the same and that same is really really bad, they also manage to be twice as long as they need to be while doing that, at least Slipknot had the decency not to suck up so much of my time. Their name is also really unimaginative. A few songs to pull out One - yep, you nailed the rating lads The Shortest Straw - that's what I drew to have to listen to this Harvester of Sorrow - credit for dipping away from the derivative heavy metal bag of words their sort normally indulge in, to talk about a sad time at a chain restaurant The Frayed Ends of Sanity - pretty much where I was this deep into it
