Ys by Joanna Newsom
Feb 11 2026
Cut by The Slits
Mar 25 2026
Tusk by Fleetwood Mac
Apr 02 2026
Yeezus by Kanye West
Apr 05 2026

I had no idea how weird and noisy this would be. I really liked it and thought it would make an excellent sci-fi soundtrack. I just couldn’t take the misogyny and so much “fist my bitch” lyrics. It’s hard to separate art from the artist when said artist is basically crazy. People say this is genius

A Girl Called Dusty by Dusty Springfield
Apr 07 2026

Pretty classic early 60’s soul. I prefer Dusty in Memphis but this is her big hits record. As I listen I found myself singing along because all these songs are buried in my head from listening to 1970s pop radio

Arise by Sepultura
Apr 08 2026
Feast of Wire by Calexico
Apr 09 2026

Ugh I hate early aughts indie rock. This sounds like background Starbucks music or a montage scene in a bad Netflix movie.

Loveless by My Bloody Valentine
Apr 10 2026

Can I give this 10 stars? One of my favorite records of all time. I saw them on this tour with Dinosaur Jr. and I couldn’t hear for days. Loudest show I’ve ever seen

Exodus by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Apr 11 2026
Apr 13 2026

Their best record before they became a staple of classic rock radio. Dangerous and dirty Southern Rock that feels like you might get knifed in a back alley. Poison Whiskey is a lost classic

Rumours by Fleetwood Mac
Apr 14 2026
Close To You by Carpenters
Apr 16 2026

Deeply nostalgic memories of the 1970s swirl around this one. In the 80’s it was cool for punk rockers to hate this kind of music but after reading that Sonic Youth were big fans my opinion softened up. Kim Gordo. References Karen many times in her work and listening to the lyrics they are all kind of dark and unhappy. Weird for bubblegum soft rock. Considering she starved herself to death I think she was filled with pain that no one understood. I just wish it was more 60’s folky and less 70’s violins and breezy production

Debut by Björk
Apr 18 2026

I kinda hate this at the time but over the years my opinions have softened. Weird eclectic witch women were never my thing but now I’m kind of drawn to them. I like the avant-garde music but her voice is somewhat grating. Oh well she’s cool

Scott 2 by Scott Walker
Apr 20 2026

No one else liked this but I’ve always duv his baroque pop. His later stuff gets darker and closer to Leonard Cohen but this was the tail end of his pop years

Apr 22 2026

Interesting. Noisy, trance inducing kinda-jazz. I’d say I liked it but grew bored by the fourth song. Not sure how this qualifies as an album I must hear before i die but I didn’t hate it. Not quite Starbucks music but definitely background or soundtrack music

Music From Big Pink by The Band
Apr 23 2026

One of the great pastoral hippie rock records of all time just all around cool vibes from Dylan’s backing band.

Talk Talk Talk by The Psychedelic Furs
Apr 26 2026

The best Furs era before teeny bop MTV

Parklife by Blur
Apr 28 2026

The best Brit Pop. England’s answer to Pavement offering up sardonic and sarcastic anti-rock. Peak 90’s ennui and slacker vibes all around

Talking Heads 77 by Talking Heads
May 01 2026

I love this record. Agro and uptight music for art school nerds

Hybrid Theory by Linkin Park
May 02 2026

Just not my kind of music so I have trouble rating it. I’ve just never like nü-metal

american dream by LCD Soundsystem
May 06 2026

There are some good LCD songs but not in this watered down Duran Duran rip-off

May 07 2026

Meh. I question this list everyday. XTC had some great records in the 1970s. Why chose a washed up come back record from 1999?

So Much For The City by The Thrills
May 10 2026

Another one that baffles the mind. In no way is this a record anyone needs to hear

Are You Experienced by Jimi Hendrix
May 12 2026

Finally a great record! Psych heavy jams 60’s burnout blues rock is what I like!

Smile by Brian Wilson
May 13 2026
Illinois by Sufjan Stevens
May 16 2026

So boring

Bone Machine by Tom Waits
May 20 2026

The best of the best

Sound of Silver by LCD Soundsystem
May 27 2026

The self titled is better but you can’t really complain. It’s still some of the best indie dance music of the aughts

May 28 2026

I mean come on. This is better than Nevermind. The Dawes ear bleeding agony of rock stardom ever

B-52's by The B-52's
May 29 2026

I’ve never been a fan. Novelty music

Parachutes by Coldplay
May 30 2026

U2 imitators doing a bad job imitating u2

The Scream by Siouxsie And The Banshees
May 31 2026
Elastica by Elastica
Jun 04 2026

I loved this at the time, saw them live and was blown away but they were unable to sustain any momentum due to hard drugs and the music industry moving on in the late 90’s. I always wonder what would have happened if they stayed together

Superunknown by Soundgarden
Jun 07 2026

Best of the best of the 90’s. Pure grunge classic

Grace by Jeff Buckley
Jun 09 2026
Jun 10 2026

There’s a funny quiz on the McSweeneys website about 90’s bands and it turns out I’m a Pavement dad

E.V.O.L. by Sonic Youth
Jun 11 2026

Come on! One of my favorite records of all time. Can o give it a 10?

Live At The Regal by B.B. King
Jun 24 2026

I enjoy jazz and soul but know little about blues music and I dislike live albums

Low by David Bowie
Jun 27 2026

This is the third greatest record of all time

Pearl by Janis Joplin
Jun 30 2026

I’m with Jeronimo. A mix of classic and so-so songs makes it hard time rate but man those great songs

Unknown Pleasures by Joy Division
Jul 03 2026

Pure classic. As fresh now as it was upon release

Transformer by Lou Reed
Jul 07 2026

What can I say? I’m biased

Deja Vu by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
Jul 08 2026

That sweet spot between hippy dippy 1960s and hard burnout early 1970s folk rock.

Station To Station by David Bowie
Jul 28 2026

Everyone knows my opinions about Bowie. Every day I have a favorite recording by him. Today Station To Station is the greatest of all time. It probably will be again tomorrow
