ive only heard a handful of talking heads songs (the popular ones) so i was really not expecting this album to sound like That
- kind of reminds me of the manhunter soundtrack
- had already heard once in a lifetime and was expecting the rest of the album to sound like it but i was wrong
- seen and not seen kind of freaks me out + sounds like a stripped down version of this is your life
- i like how eerie listening wind is
- the overload sounds like a slowed down interpol song
interesting album, starts off super funky and slowly starts to become more sinister towards the end. cant believe this is the same band that made psycho killer
previously heard: beetlebum, song 2 (listened to best of blur a lot when i was 13), you're so great (i distinctly remember being 16 and my english teacher asking us to bring a song's lyrics to class the next day so i went home and spent HOURS trying to choose something only to settle on this one. it wasnt even that serious idk why i was doing all that)
- took me five years to learn that damon albarn didn't sing you're so great... havent sat down and listened to it properly in a while but now that im reading the lyrics again im remembering why it meant so much to 16yo me
- love death of a party. im about halfway thru the album now and the switchups between tracks are giving me whiplash
- chinese bombs sounds quite suicidal tendencies
- strange news from another star: simple but effective, could be on ziggy stardust and also oddly reminds me of kid a
- essex dogs gives me the same creepy feeling a day in the life does. also i end up saying this for every spoken word track but this one rlly could be on the fight club soundtrack i should probably rewatch it at some point
what im getting from this is that damon albarn has a lot to complain about. some great songs surrounded by a bunch of noise, might listen again
i really don't know what to expect the only supertramp songs i know are breakfast in america (thanks patrick stump) and the logical song
nothing really stood out to me other than the outro of the last track, all the songs blended into each other, was mostly bored while listening, might just be bc its not what i usually listen to but would probably not listen again
only heard the title track before this, excited to listen
beauty and the beast: immediately funky start to the album
joe the lion: fun guitars if a bit messy sounding, interesting to read about chris burden's works while listening
heroes: desperately hopeful/bittersweet esp as he starts yelling as the song progresses
sons of the silent age: singapore moment... so bleak
black out: this one makes me want to jump around
instrumentals
v-2 schneider: plane passing by
sense of doubt: impending sense of doom, haunted house
moss garden: unexpected japan moment???
neukoeln: impending sense of doom pt 2. i feel like im lost with nowhere to go
the secret life of arabia: movie end credits
super fun listen, nothing felt redundant, would listen again (at least the first half)
i only know one beck song (think im in love) and ive never heard of this album before
- some parts reminded me of radiohead's amnesiac
- i thought it sounded like the dust brothers and then i realised they produced the album
- some songs would be ok as background music but the rest was just a mess
frankly impressive how an album with so many different things happening in it still managed to sound so boring
such a lovely voice, i always wondered why i dont listen to more jazz... the improv is rlly fun too, would definitely listen again
(got two jazz albums back to back) interesting enough, would not be mad if i was stuck in a lift and this was playing. i like the second track more
i wish i could've liked this more but it was such a chore to get thru even as background music :/
this is the first album i've gotten that i already own a physical copy of :) was literally cataloguing my record collection and seeing which ones were on the list right before this. also i got another miles davis album the day before yesterday which is kind of freaky... no notes, solid album
i liked the beatles as a kid but i realised ive never listened to any of their solo work... surprisingly had a lot of fun listening to this
thought i'd like this but it was a pain to get through and way too long, i think robert plant's voice just isn't for me
was looking forward to this :) have some of the yeahs in my playlists but never sat down to listen to a full album of theirs... this was such a fun listen and a nice break from all the old white man rock ive been given the past few days
have never heard of this album before, did not know what to expect and was pleasantly surprised! i enjoyed the diversity of sounds, was captivated the whole time
quite fitting that this is my second bowie album with the first one being heroes... my first 5 star album in the course of this project! wish i couldve experienced this album at the time of its release but unfortunately i was too busy being 8 years old
