The extreme urge to start moshing
It’s funny because just yesterday I reviewed an album I said there’s no way in hell I’m listening to a long ass instrumental. Just one day later I have proven myself wrong because I just listened to a 15 minute drum solo and was completely enthralled with it. So maybe this music shit really is subjective!
Beautiful voice and what a unique concept album. It really showcased her range as an artist, blending genres together. The production is so cinematic and takes into the world she was trying to create with this album. Especially the last song, it sounds like a score. It’s nice to get some more albums on this list from this past decade!
✊🏾
In the Bible, it says what goes around, comes around Hommo shot me, three weeks later he got shot down Now it’s clear that I’m here for a real reason 'Cause he got hit like I got hit, but he ain't fuckin' breathin What can I say? The first album I ever owned. My introduction into Hip Hop. This album shaped me and started my journey into music. 50 really came on the scene with a bang and Get Rich or Die Trying is an album to me that has no skips. His flow, his lyrics, the classic records. Man, what an album!
Tough to get through but respect to the legends
At first I thought I was gonna need shrooms to finish this album lol but no the music was amazing, I understand why this is a classic
I was asleep on the plane but when I came too it sounded great. It sounded way ahead of its time and I’m adding it to the rotation
Classic classic classic!!!!
I never really appreciated this album when it first came out. I think it was because everyone around me was dumping on it so I followed suit (very weak of me). But listening to it again without tasteless people in my ear telling me it’s trash, it was actually an amazing listen. The instrumentation on the songs, the depth of the lyrics, the constant overarching theme of the album. K-Dot deserved all the praise that I previously believed was unwarranted. Plus the last song and his “conversation” with Tupac was well done.
This review is a MC REN appreciation review. Quiet on tha set is an onslaught of fly rapping, dope ass flow and a bomb ass beat. I really think he’s underrated and I think he needs his flowers, that is all. Classic album indeed!

Simply not for me!
This album reminds me of why I always say if I could live in any decade, it would be the 80s. Driving down the highway, top down with this music blasting and the purest of cocaine in my system. What a time to be alive!
✊🏾
I think most music these days lack that raw emotion and I hate that for the new generation.
I didn’t think I was going to like this album because this genre has never been my thing. But like most of the albums that I’ve heard on this journey, I was pleasantly surprised by how great this music sounds to me. I even saved some of these songs to play again. I knew Queen was a legendary group and of course I knew the hits but I never listened to any of their albums. I will now dive deeper into their discography, that’s what I love about this site!
The extreme urge to start moshing
***Insert meme of dude snatching off the headphones***
The album wasn’t bad but the third song on the album sounded like they stuck a microphone up an elephant’s ass and told it to go crazy. Which now as I type I realize that it’s maybe a bagpipe but it still pissed me off 😂
Not for me. However, I could dance to this in a pub with a beautiful woman. Thus marking the beginning of a tumultuous love story
After a week of duds, I’m glad to start off the week with this Gem 💎
A tornado flew around my room before you came. Excuse the mess it made, it usually doesn’t rain in southern California, much like Arizona, my eyes don’t shed tears but boy they bawlin. I’m thinking bout you, oh no no no, Ive been thinking bout you, you know know know. I’ve been thinking about you, do you think about me still? Do ya? Do ya? OR DO YOU NOT THINK SO FAR AHEADDDD! CUZ I BEEN THINKING BOUT FOREVA OOOOOOOOO
Ahhh the 80’s a time of vibes and innovation. I love how most of the songs on this album seem like a jam session. I think I might’ve enjoyed the instrumentation more than the lyrics (except on the classic songs of course). They made 8 songs feel a whole lot longer. In all, I enjoyed this listen.
Smooooooooooth
I thoroughly enjoyed this album. I like how it kept me on my toes and didn’t stick to one genre. I think he did a little bit of everything well on this project. However, I think it suffered from the Jack of all trades but master of none syndrome. I would’ve liked to see him lock in on one sound and give us a beautiful experience with it. Ultimately, it was still a solid project. Loved the tribute song to Elliott Smith as well.
This album surprised me, I didn’t think I was going to like after the first song. However, it turned out to be a really good album. It’s just simply great music to me. Plus Skin was singing her tail off. Pleasantly surprised!.
I love this type of music. I think it’s hitting more because it’s raining today. They really did a good job of capturing the mood of the film with the instrumentation. I was fooled by the first track in thinking there would be lyrics. Although I love lyrics, it didn’t take away from the album like it usually does for me.
Of course I knew all of the hits but I would’ve never knew the b-sides were just as fire. I love Hip-Hop man, especially the production aspect of it. It’s always amazing to see how they flip records and make them bump in the headphones. This also makes me miss lyrics man, I know all rap isn’t lyricless now but it doesn’t hit the same. I think what I’m trying to say is that I like when music has a message. Of course I like the fun music to that you just dance to. But there’s something special about being able to convey your message in a unique artistic way. That’s what this album accomplishes so well to me. I also want to reiterate that these beats are absolutely insane. I haven’t stopped nodding my head since I pressed play.
This album sounds like a man who was lost musically and discovered new sounds abroad like the synopsis says. You can hear the joy of discovery in the production and the lyrics. Close your eyes you can picture Paul Simon jumping around, dancing and having fun in the studio while making this. That, my friends, is the absolute magic of music and I’m glad he was able to capture that in the form of sound. I think this is what an epiphany sounds like!
Fam, you can’t even deny this album. 5 stars, 6 of it was possible!
I just want to be in the room when they made those beats. Like how did you think to put jazz instruments on break beats. I love Hip hop and this is it in its purest form. Classic!!
RIP Shock G 🕊️🕊️🕊️
I can’t ever give this lower than 5 stars because what it did for hip hop. Specifically west coast Hip Hop. I understand the argument that Snoop carried this but Snoop didn’t produce this album. The beats are absolutely insane especially for 92’. Dre’s ear is almost impeccable man all of these songs sound incredible. Everything from background vocals to transitions are perfectly placed. Its just classic!
Tuesdays gone us going to be the new track of my life. I love this project and I’m shocked by that
I never listened to this album all the way through before and based off the hits, it’s not what I expected in the best way possible. The stark contrast in the content between the two, even the production and overall mood of the two disc don’t feel the same. I think they did an incredible job of showcasing 3 stacks and Big Bois differences as artists. The music just sounds good to me. Classic album (The hits sound better in the flow of the project)!!
I wasn’t expecting that goofy goober ass song at the end of the album. Felt like I was instantly transported to a silly old cartoon. That shit really threw me off and if I was high listening to this, I don’t know how I’d react. But other than that this is a solid project, I had too much to dream last night is a fire way to start off an album too!
You ever want to go back to the first time you heard a particular album or song? Well I want to go back to this morning when I first heard Bell Bottom Blues. I mean that shit just hit me instantly. I love this album, I’m adding it to the rotation.
This album is long as hell. Felt like I was doing a homework assignment for extra credit. I like a few of the songs though! I’m still undecided whether I hate or love his voice…
This album is soooo smooth man wow! It’s like a weighted blanket for my ears. Her voice is so soothing as well. The older I get the more I appreciate more calming music!
At first I thought it wasn’t for me but it definitely turned in to a vibe! Felt like doing on beat body rolls while walking through a club. Sounds like a soundtrack to a 90s porno film though but in the best way possible.
I fell like I’ve been living under a rock because I’ve never heard of them until this morning. This album took me by surprise to say the least and I thoroughly enjoyed every track on the album. Such an easy listen and especially great for a train ride into the city. Definitely adding this album into the rotation!
Although I admire the originality and creativity of this album, it’s simply just not for me.
I feel like this is one of those albums that you have to be in the right mood, atmosphere & situation to appreciate it or vibe to it. I simply was not in that mood, atmosphere or situation.
Holy shit this album just took me on a spiritual journey. I now know the meaning of life and it’s not what I expected. I’m not ok and I’ll never be ok again. Seriously though, what an album! This sounds so incredible and it may be the strain I’m blowing in the air but this sounds perfect to me. Every damn cord has hit my chest like a ton of bricks. Thank you for this journey to the center of the earth. Ok they lost me at the end of disc 2 but I’m still giving this a 5 😂
I don’t know what I was expecting but it definitely wasn’t this. Listening to this felt like I was watching a budding romance montage scene in a movie for 40+ minutes. Catchy enough to keep your attention but empty enough to not over power the scene. At least it’s not terrible music, just feels very hollow. Like he’s never felt a real emotion in his life.
Australia is a great song. This album altogether was not too bad of a listen!
Aye I’m not gonna hold you but she sounds angelic as hell on this. Like she’s floating on a cloud, laying down chilling & singing into a microphone. She’s got me contemplating where the hell I’m going in life and have I experienced enough in this life to sing with this much emotion. Holy shit bro 😭
Solid album!
Ahhh the 80s, a time for musical experimentation. Some hit and some missed. This shit missed like a 3 point shot from Shaq.
This album is solid off of into my arms alone!
Listened to this album while riding a bike through town. Perfect album for such a day!
Classssssssiccccccc!! The beat on Wicked is absolutely insane. It Was A Good Day will never ever get old. Check yo self still bangs. It’s cohesive, he’s actually saying something other than the usual, and as I mentioned, the beats are absolutely insane!
I liked a couple of songs which is more than I thought I would so there’s that.
Her voice was so soothing that I fell asleep on the train. But in the best way possible!
This album sounds like a sunny walk through the park after a successful first date. Or sitting out by the lake just staring out into the distance with a cold beer sitting next to you. Tremendous stuff!
It’s always incredible to hear a once in a generation type of talent doing what he loved to do in front of an appreciative audience. Cracking jokes, enjoying himself and putting on a great performance. RIP Kurt Cobain 🙏🏾🕊️
Meh 🫤 I’m gonna go listen to Prince.
Beautiful voice and what a unique concept album. It really showcased her range as an artist, blending genres together. The production is so cinematic and takes into the world she was trying to create with this album. Especially the last song, it sounds like a score. It’s nice to get some more albums on this list from this past decade!
Altogether, some of the musical choices on this album weren’t for me. However, the album did have some moments and those moments were very strong moments. Baby on Fire, Cindy Tells Me & On Some Faraway Beach were enough for me to rate this album like a 3.9 but I’ll round up for the sake of it!
This whole album sounds like the part of an early 2000’s Rom-Com when the falling out happens. So they show a montage of them living separate lives. That’s where I’m currently at in life so this shit hit me directly 😂
I cut this album on and immediately started two stepping to the train. Then suddenly I was transported to a random park with a bunch of people. They looked familiar and they smiled at me. I was confused but then it clicked, I realized they were my family! A sweet older woman reached out and handed me a plate. She ushered me to the table and waited patiently for me to finish. Then, off in the distance, I hear a familiar phrase come on to the speaker, “WE ARE FAMILY!” I drop my plate, rush to the dance floor, and two step the night away. An experience I’ll never forget!
The album isn’t terrible. It’s just that I’ve heard this style of music done better.
This album is so soothing in a hauntingly beautiful way.
This album is all over the place. Bro was definitely trying to figure what type of music he wanted to make and I appreciate the experimentation of it. It kind of reminds me of life and how most of us are just throwing shit at a wall and hoping it sticks.
This album is absolutely beautiful. I mean Ella Fitzgerald is a legend and I see why. The music is angelic, soothing and the perfect background music for when you’re doing something mindless. With that being said, 3 hours is a lot of damn music. I’m trying my best to sit through it because luckily I have time today. But damn, after a while it gets monotonous. Update: I finished the entire thing, I think I’ve made my grandparents proud.
80’s punk eh? I kinda dig it.
Self titled albums either hit or miss. This one damn sure didn’t miss 🔥
Despite the man who made it being a twat, the album was ok. Lets face it the man does what he does well but he did it better than the 80s. Also, what does he have against burgers? A burger has never hurt anyone but a racist… nevermind, 3 out 5 stars.
This shit BANGS from start to finish!! I should listen to this on my run & I’ll run a damn marathon 😤
Banger after banger after banger after banger after banger after banger….
Idk what my man was saying but it sounded fly as shit! We love a 90s break beat so it doesn’t matter what language is being rapped on it. I need to translate this so I can use some of these lines in real life if they apply 😂
Beautiful album 🤲🏾
I listened to most of this album on the train with the sun shining on my face. It was the perfect album for it, beautiful music.
I have an uncontrollable urge to headbang to this album! This music just makes you feel good, I think it comes with a pill that makes you want to scream these lyrics at the top of your lungs. Now I just need to learn the lyrics 😂
I was not expecting this album to be this good to me. I’ve been downloading songs left & right. We are the Pigs woke me the fuck up this morning!!
Album was a vibe, cleaned the house to it and caught myself scrubbing to the beat 😂
I’ve heard this kind of music be done better before.
I have no idea how to rate this album. Part of me feels like I’m being read a bedtime story by someone else’s grandpa. Strange but yet still comforting. The other part of me thinks it’s one of the most beautiful & unique pieces of music that I’ve heard in a while. So I guess that means it’s a 3????????
They came on the scene swinging, I have to respect it.
Yea this album sounds incredible, not much else to say beyond that!
She set the bar too high with Buffalo Stance. But that bar was so damn high that it makes this a high rated album for me.
Interesting project. Soothing to the ears at times, harsh at others. At one point it did calm my mind a bit which was much appreciated. I don’t love it but I definitely don’t hate it.
This was tough to get through for me. Album was really slow and I just wasn’t in the mood for it. Not for me.
Aye these boys can rap! I never listened to a full Beastie Boys project because it just never crossed my mind to. I came not expecting much and was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this music. Especially the B-Boy Bouillabaisse section of the album. It kinda showcased their ability to rap on a variety of different beats. Solid project!
This album holds a special place for me because it reminds me of my childhood. My mom used to have My Sweet Lord blasting in the living room in the evening, rocking back and forth in her favorite chair. That one song is very special, this is my first time listening to the entire album through and it’s just a solid collection of ok songs. There isn’t too much that’s remarkable about this album. You are bound to have at least a couple of standout records with such a long album. However, in order for it to be a certified high rated album, I would want it to have more records that are undeniably good. It just doesn’t have that. All that being said, I can’t rate this lower than a 4 because of My Sweet Lord! My bias won’t let me 🤷🏾♂️😂
This album was so fun to listen to especially for my run this morning. Shoutout to Brit Pop 🔥
Ahh hell naw.
I really enjoyed this album. It was a smooth listen and this subject matter is always gonna speak to me because of where I’m at in life. It wasn’t remarkable by any stretch of the term but most of the albums on this list aren’t so maybe that’s not the point. It was beautiful music nonetheless! Also, what happened to the concept of the hidden track? I like that, we should bring that back.
Man I’m sorry but I just don’t have the patience to listen to an 18 minute long song. I mean it’s have to be the greatest sound my ears have ever heard. This was not that sound.
It’s funny because just yesterday I reviewed an album I said there’s no way in hell I’m listening to a long ass instrumental. Just one day later I have proven myself wrong because I just listened to a 15 minute drum solo and was completely enthralled with it. So maybe this music shit really is subjective!
My spirits were in hell but this album brought them back up a bit. It was light, fun and it had the ability to affect your mood. What more could you ask of an album?
My introduction to Motörhead was through WWE lol so it’s interesting to hear a full project of theirs. I’m not mad at the music, it’s not something that I’ll ever go back to but the music is solid. The voice is unique, the instrumentals bang and it’s just an enjoyable listen. 3.5/5!
This album is so damn good. The run of songs from The Scientist to Warning Signs is just an impeccable collection of songs. The lyrics hit deep, Chris Martin’s vocals never disappoint, and the whole album is a five just based on the piano play on Warning Signs. My only critique is that I was 7 when this album came out and couldn’t experience it in real time but I plan on making up for lost time by playing the shit out of this album.
Just when I start to think this project is giving me duds then they rip off a string of solid projects. This one was no different, it wasn’t too remarkable in anyway but it is a solid project. Psychedelic Rock for the win!
I loved listening to this album, it was the perfect listen for a train ride on a sunny day.
Don’t get me wrong this shit bangs at certain periods. But sir, why are you screaming in my ear?? 2.5/5
This album has some timeless records on it & I feel like when you create music that transcends generations, then that elevates the status of the album. Sound wise, I think they did what they do very well (what does that even mean?) which makes the album an easy listen.
Everything you need, a story and good music.
The guitars gave this album life! I love the diversity of the sound and the listen was enjoyable.
Cmon now this is beautiful music, you cant even deny it. Even if it’s not your thing or you hate jazz, you can still tell that this is it at its peak. I do feel like you have to be in the right mood/setting for it to hit best though. Now excuse me while I light this cigar.
This was a cool album to listen to. Unremarkable except for a few tracks but it wasn’t a chore to listen to.
THIS SHIT BANGS!!!!!
I’m torn because on one hand I love the guitars and the drums but on the other hand I can’t stand them screaming in my fucking ear. I know you can’t have one without the other so what a conundrum!
This sounds like a bunch of guys were in an old bar and were just having a jam sesh, then decided to record that shit fr. I like the spontaneity of it and of course the actual music is great.
This was a solid album to throw on in the background while you’re doing other stuff. I liked the beats & I liked the vibes!
This was a surprisingly beautiful album! I had no idea what to expect going into it and I’m pleasantly surprised.
So you’re telling me that this beautiful piece of art has been out here for damn near 50 years and I’m JUST now hearing it?? Gen X you’ve failed us once again. Lol but seriously this album is incredible!
Rasta punk eh?? I like it!
60’s psychedelic music never sounds bad to me. It can get monotonous at times but it’s never a chore to get through and there’s usually some beautiful music accompanied with it. This album is par for the course. Plus I like how he blended psychedelic with folk and it’s kind of seamless.
The original version isn’t on Spotify anymore so I listened to the demo version. Idk how different the two are but based off the Demo version, I can see why this is revered from what I’ve seen online. It’s just a good collection of music. The Last Living Rose is so good, I immediately threw it in my rotation. I just wish the song was longer!
Someone go get me my baggy pants quick, I’m feeling real 2002 right now. Album is solid, easy listen, perfect vibe for today!
This album was seamless. No skips!
This album was beautiful, sad, seamless & soothing all at the same time.
Listen I love instruments more than the next guy so obviously this album provides that in volume. It just has to be the best I’ve ever heard for me to sit and listen to an entire project of it. This was good but not great.
Idk what it is with my generation and our attention spans but 15 minute songs make my butt itch. I recognize it’s great music and it sounds good but my brain (and ears) can’t sit and listen to a song that long. So I guess this rating is more for myself than the actual project 😂 Edit*** I made it to the end of the 15 minute song and that shit ended with some pizzazz (or pijazz if you will) so I’m upping my rating
A smooth listen, I love 60’s/early 70’s rock
Twas a vibe
My GENERATIONAL album is what they meant to name it.
Snuggie Otis sir, you are a magician. This album is so smooth man. The perfect joint for a relaxing Sunday afternoon or even doing stuff around the house. I love this!
I respect the art but I just can’t get into it Edit: Ok, Hurt is a fantastic record!
Classssicccc!! Also I wonder if Marvin ever found out what was going on
Album sounds like the start of something great!
Idgaf what they’re because the instrumentation is just that damn good
I’m ready to run my head through 70 fucking walls while screaming at the top of my lungs the lyrics to this album!!!!
Unique sound, I do think Pretty in Pink carried this album though. All around solid project not too moving but didn’t suck.
I love this project. It’s soothing to the ears and just evokes emotion out of you. You can hear the pain, the yearning in Frank’s voice and the instrumentation only enhanced that. A well done collab project, 28 minutes is so easy to digest too.
It’s crazy to think that this was a new genre. The innovation alone makes this album stand out to me plus to incorporate rock into was seamless. Legendary group. Legendary album. Nothing less than 5 stars is appropriate! RIP Jam Master J 🕊️
I’m torn because this shit bops but I love 80’s music. So is it really that good? Or is my biases just overpowering the mediocrity that could possibly be this album? Ahh who cares this shit bops!
Wasn’t really feeling this one.
This man was so talented. It’s a shame that I’m only discovering that in the last few years. This is like my third time hearing this album and it never gets old. Long Live Jimi Hendrix!
This is the type of rock I love, high energy, funky & just all around enjoyable. I’m glad they’re on tour this year with Deep Purple so I can catch them live!
Bruh…. Cmon. This is undeniable. What can I even say about it that hasn’t already said. The only thing I can think of is that it still holds up in 2024, that longevity is gahdamn legendary
You can hear how they built off of Psychedelic rock and tried to push it forward. This music doesn’t just sound good but it feels good as well. Easy listen, even easier 4 star album.
Although I understand the appeal of this album to her plethora of fans, this album wasn’t made for me and that’s ok. Proud of myself for making it to the end of this lol
Sounds like a drive around town on sunny weekend day!
Solid project but not that special in my opinion.
Check it out now, funk soul brother Right about now, funk soul brother Check it out now, funk soul brother Right about now, funk soul brother Check it out now, funk soul brother Right about now, funk soul brother
Simply phenomenal.
I mean cmon this is arguably the greatest album of all time and it’s easy to hear why. Just a perfect collection of songs, the arrangements, his vocals, just an all around classic project. Not a skip in sight, it’s always good to listen to this album again!
From someone who doesn’t really like country music, this wasn’t too bad
I liked 60% of this album which is more than I thought I would. I guess good music will always shine through in any genre, even if you’re not a fan of it.
Not sure what the hell I was listening to for an hour. I’m pretty sure I could’ve died never listening to this and would have been just fine. But oh well, the last song was cool.
No, absolutely not.
At first I wasn’t really feeling it but as it went on the album just got better and better for me! Glad to see an album from the last 10 years on here I was beginning to wonder.
I love hearing the origins of my favorite songs by going back and listening to albums. So that was cool hearing bring on the night and then immediately cutting on Adaptation by The Weeknd. Overall, I enjoyed this album & will be going back to it!
I’m not sure what I just listened to. But I know it wasn’t terrible so I guess that’s where I stand!
Maps supremacy, they really don’t be loving you like you love them. Legendary of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs to point that out so eloquently
Not too shabby Bossman
Classic album that I’ve never listened to through all the way and now I see why it’s been so highly touted for so long. Just flawless honesty, top tier bars, smooth production and he just paints a picture for you. I’ve been Dot’s biggest hater so this is tough to admit lol
I mean a heartbroken woman and a guitar, name a more iconic duo.
I feel like this random algorithm knows more than we think because it’s a rainy ass day, I’m sitting in an Uber staring out the window and this was the perfect album for this moment. This album is beautiful, her voice is beautiful, 5 stars for a legend!
Banger
I had Bruce all kinds of F’d up. My bad Mr. Boss, I wasn’t familiar with your game.
This album was really theatrical in the best ways possible. It felt like I was seated watching a play with some of the most unique music that I’ve heard. Of course I’ve heard Bohemian Rhapsody before but to hear it within the sequence of the album just elevated the quality of it even more. Incredible listen!
This album isn’t bad it’s just not that remarkable. Like I probably could’ve died without ever hearing a single lyric, but if a song from it comes on I won’t get violent. So there’s that!
That guitar and harmonica the end of Can I Sleep in Your Arms is five stars on its own. This album lost me a bit but thats more because of taste rather than quality. Overall this was an easy, lovely listen and a great taste breaker for myself!
Not really sure what the hell I just listened to for 56 minutes but that’s 56 minutes of my life that I won’t get back. This sounds like my 2 year old niece in the kitchen just banging on shot while my nephew screams over it in the most abrasive way. I’m sure there’s someone out there who loves this shit, I would like to meet them and pick their brain because maybe I’m missing something…
You enter the club, feeling yourself, looking the best you’ve ever have. You look a cross the room and there she is, the one you’ve been waiting your entire life for. You both lock eyes, this album blasts in the background as you maneuver your way through the crowd to her. Just as you both make it to each other the beat drops and you both dance the night away. That’s what this album sounds like to me lmfao
Smooth, a vibe, an easy listen and a work of art. Beautiful music from a beautiful soul 🕊️
Never listened to the full album before but just like I thought, it’s fire!
Genuinely, wtf is this??????????
Simple mais élégant et ce n'est pas parce que c'est en français... Ok peut-être que ça l'est mais ce n'est pas grave !
Now this is what I’m talking about! I listened another album of his that was just unremarkable. Now this wasn’t the greatest ever but it’s more memorable and has more character.
Good ol fashioned country rock, didn’t think I’d like it, actually thought I’d hate that shit but it bangs.
Banger
Music that has the power to make you feel good, feel positive, is simply powerful music. Natty Dread gives you that feeling and then some, you can’t help but to dance when it comes on. Great album!
I’m not even sure of the content I just spent an hour mindlessly listening too.
To make an album that stands the test of time must feel so special. Everything about this album is a five, the overall theme of being in a classroom learning about real world things. The classic songs that will never get old, and I mean never. The B Sides that you don’t hear too often but they make this project so well rounded. The lyrics that hit you deep and help you step into her world, her perspective. Just a phenomenal project and the true definition of a classic album.
Beautiful music, perfect for a cloudy day train ride to work. Bland but I didn’t mind it.
monotonous but enjoyable
That was a journey to the center of funk and I’ll be damned if I didn’t enjoy every second of the ride!!
Idk why but Ghost’s voice over these beats will never get old, no matter how many times I hear it. Classic voice, classic underrated album and shoutout to Ne-Yo for the classic hook!!
This was like music from a cinematic universe. I wasn’t sure where the gel this was going but by Chicago, I was on with it. Dragged on a bit towards the end though
Not too shabby
I enjoyed this album, it was a great listen to accompany my morning walk. It also just made me feel good, it has that old school sound to it but didn’t feel dated. Plus they ended the album beautifully, well done!
Smooooooooth Jazz for that ass!!
Sometimes assholes make great music, I don’t make the rules 🤷🏾♂️
I enjoyed this project from start to finish!
Whole lotta noise but not terrible
Ladies & gentlemen, I’ve found the new soundtrack to GTA 6. It has synths as far as the eye can see just like the good lord intended
Man this was so peaceful to listen to. I felt like I needed a suit and a glass of wine while snapping to the beat pretentiously.
I know Bob & Jane used to slow dance their asses off in the house to this after the milkman came.
Aye right in time for the reunion tour! This could’ve consisted of 12 Wonderwalls and it still would’ve been a five for me.
Idk why but I never allowed myself to think that covers were a thing before I started listening to music. I know, stupid but here we are. This album is 5 stars to me not only because it’s Otis Redding & his phenomenal voice but also because how cool it is to think what someone who was in his 20s in 1965 was inspired by. You get a sense of the person and what music at the time resonated with them. Really cool stuff when you think about it.
This album is standing the test of time. An easy listen with music that hits you in the chest.
Didn’t particularly love it, didn’t particularly hate it. The last song on the album is beautiful and I wish the album was on Spotify so I could save it.
This album is everything that is good and bad (looking at you Mother) about 80’s music. But I love it nonetheless!
I imagine them all in a basement just giving and the vibes were immaculate
What is up with this list & Morrissey???? The album is good but damn lol
Ok this album was much better than I thought it would be. Live albums just hit different because the artist is able to show their personality and you can hear them feeding off the energy from the crowd. Plus the different instruments just sound so real and raw when you record them live like that. Great album!
Going from Nothing Else Matters to Of Wolf and Men is like the juxtaposition of my two moods. I usually don’t like this kind of music but this shit bangs… 3.5/5
Not as bad as I thought it would be
Aye finally some R&B after a run of rock records. I know it says pop but to me this is R&B. Of course I know all of the hits on this album so I was really looking forward to hearing all of the B-Sides. I thought they were really good R&B records, I love early 2000s Timbaland production anyways & this was a clinic. I always thought that when executed perfectly, there’s nothing better than a great R&B record. That shit will make you feel good!! Negatively though every record starts to sound the same and it’s almost too pop at times like he was trying to break away from that sound that made him famous. But it’s not too egregious like the other reviews I’ve seen, so I didn’t hate it 🤷🏾♂️
Perfect energy for a dull Monday morning commute. Got me ready for the day. Am album who’s energy can jump out of the music is to be celebrated, well done.
Am…am I grunge??
I don’t know if my rating is an actual rating of this album or just the fact that I’m rocked out. Over 200 albums and it’s been 90% rock lol at some point it all starts sounding the same. This album is cool but it sounds like the last several albums I’ve listened to in the past week.
Brother, 30 minutes of peak saxophone play has healed my soul.
I’m ignoring the hook in Pencil skirt and focusing on the rest of the album. This is a phenomenal album from start to finish.
I wasn’t sitting through two hours on a Saturday. I listened to most of it though and it was a decent sounding album. I honestly didn’t hate it, I actually loved parts of it but ultimately, it just wasn’t that special.
I thought this was gonna be a metal album so you can imagine my surprise when I heard the first track. I liked it though, not memorable by any means but not terrible. Great background music to keep you calm while playing NCAA 25 on Heisman mode.
I can’t explain it any further but this album just sounds like 2007. It’s not a good or bad thing, it’s just a thing. I enjoyed the album though!
The best part about this album is that it was only 27 minutes.
This freaky ass boi told her to leave her hat on 😭😭😭
I’m a big Flaming Lips fan now because of the two albums I’ve heard from this list so far. The emotion they are able to evoke with their music is incredible. It’s refreshing!
Hell yea brother
Can’t hate on a classic. Well you can but I won’t this time.
This album was able to evoke real emotions out of me and I like how it ended on that high note.
Radiohead is a hit or miss for me and they always will be. This album had more hits than misses for me although at times it became a bit monotonous to listen to which is why I can’t rate it higher than a 3 for me
Vibes brother, it’s all about the vibes ✨
Ok I didn’t know what to expect but whatever I was thinking has been exceeded! This album is everything I love about r&b/soul, it’s a genre that lends itself to creativity and can be easily blended with other genres. That was on display here and so much more.
Marianne you brilliant woman, you had me two songs in! 🫡
Good vibes
Thom Yorke feature? You got me PJ, dammit, you got me.
Shorty sung her heart out at most points, I gotta rate it high. She was spectacular enough to warrant it!
Nothing like hitting a dab pen and listening to some classic psychedelic rock. Shoutout to Jefferson and their Airplane. Also, more importantly, White Rabbit Supremacy forever!
#BringBackTheHarmonica ! I feel like it’s a lost instrument these or maybe it’s just the music i listen to. As far as the album, it was a whole lotta mid. Ok, slightly above average!
Nothing to write home about but it was nice to listen too. Didn’t hate, didn’t love it, but I enjoyed it!
I didn’t think I could sit through an hour of instrumentals with my short attention span/social media brain but I didn’t hate it. Good music will always hold your attention!
This is the music you slow dance in the living room to with the love of your life after a candlelit home cooked anniversary dinner. This is the music playing in your headphones when you’re sitting on a bench in the park & the sun catches that jogger just right so you have to draw it. This is the music playing in the elevator when you’re on your way to that big interview for the job of dreams and it somehow calms the nerves right before you step off the elevator. Beautiful music, 10/5 stars!
Most Radiohead songs sound like a montage in an early 2000’s teen drama. And I love One Tree Hill so I guess that means I love this album???
This is my type of rock album, when the vocals sounded like they were recorded in an empty apartment room. Voices just echoing everywhere, music sounds too polished these days dammit bring back the authenticity!!!
I mean this has to be one of the greatest 5 track albums ever right? You got an insane 13 minute intro which they shredded then you end the album with another incredible 12 minute song. Then you got a classic record and the two “filler” songs are damn incredible as well. Plus the album cover is five stars on its own. Kudos to them!
I’ve heard some shitters before but that was a decaying dead body smothered in shit.
Now this was a vibe, it sounded like if Tears For Fears had a love baby with Wham! Do with that information what you will.
The crime of the century is that I’m just now hearing this cinematic masterpiece in audio form.
I need to eliminate my biases because this album was a banger and I didn’t think it would be.
Beach House makes me feel like I’m floating through time on a cloud like a young Goku. It reminds me that was once a Teen with a Dream and there’s something very beautiful about it. Every song sounds the same but still has its own identity. I love this project!
I enjoyed this. Not at all what I was expecting, pleasantly surprised.
That’s gotta be the best 18 minute song I’ve heard. This brother is smooth, this album is smooth and it just sounds pleasant to the ears. Great for an early morning ride to work, a tremendous way to start the day.
I appreciate the story they’re trying to tell, I mostly like the music but damn y’all couldn’t have told this story in under an hour???
I really enjoyed this album and I’m shocked by it. I’ve heard of The Cure but I’ve never had the desire to listen to their music. I’ll probably run this album back a few times especially the chunk of songs I loved. Further cements to me that I was born in the wrong decade.
I love when an album sounds cinematic. It makes the story their trying to tell come to life!
Shoutout Pat McAfee 🫡
Aye now THIS is an ALBUM! I can’t stand country music or so I thought! But this was so good, her voice, the lyrics, the guitar. Whew! The last four songs are fucking incredible, shoutout to my girl K.D.!
I’m not sure if I really love it or if I really hate it but I’m tapping my feet so ?????
I’ve only ever listened to Neil Young because of this project. I can now safely say that I am a fan of the man’s work. It just sounds like what would good music should sound like, it feels like what could music should make you feel like & it’s something you can throw on at anytime to set a good vibe.
I didn’t hate it!
It must be country week for this project, I can’t escape this shit. Please make it stop!!! As far as the music, it wasn’t bad just unremarkable to me.
This is the greatest album of all time. If you rated this any lower than a five, do me a favor and cut off your ears, then give them to someone else who deserves them. Not only is your music opinion invalid but you no longer deserve the ability to hear.
Why is this man yelling at me for an hour?? But the bars were there, the lyrics are cringe in hindsight and i remembered why this is my favorite version of Eminem. He’s not spending an hour trying to prove that he can rap which has grown tiresome. Knocking off a star because that “Kim” record was uncomfortable. I know that should speak to the level artistry to be able to make the listener feel something but it was too much for me.
Maybe my ears are off but the albums I enjoy on here tend to be rated low and the albums I don’t feel anything towards are rated high. But this album was fun, it wasn’t mixed the best, the vocals were the cleanest but I enjoyed listening to it. It actually kept me calm while I was damn near an hour late for my date and searching for parking in the city. So there’s that!
The trumpets ranged from Sweet Sweet Victory by SpongeBob to The LeBron in the studio reaction video. And I can’t explain it any better than that.
A wonderful collection of nice little diddleys
Solid ol’ folk music. Timeless and a true gem when done right! Sadly, this played like one long ass song with some beat switches. Was a great nap on the train tho
I just don’t get it. I hear glimpses of why Radiohead is so liked. The beautiful voice and strings, when perfect, sound incredible. Sadly, it is usually followed by some sort of distorted noise that just takes me out of it. It just turns me off to most of their music, I want to like it but it’s just not hitting for me.
He’ll fucking yea mate
They should’ve put this album on all of our phones instead of the other one.
You better sang that shit Earle!!!
Holy hell what an album. What a completely beautiful body of work.
Gotta love that 80s sound especially when it’s done well
The worst part about this album was the lengths I had to go to actually listen to the damn thing. Once I found it,I found an entertaining album that had me tapping my feet. It had range, evoked emotion and was a treat to listen to.
The band did the heavy lifting for this record in my opinion. I live how they found a way to merge blues and punk together and it not sound like nails on a chalk board. Loses a star from me because it started to feel like the album was overstaying its welcome but towards the end.
This album really threw me for a loop. Where it started and how it finished showed his range. I liked the depth of the lyrics in most of the songs and just the arrangement of the vocals. I always loved the stacked vocals in the 70s, it helps immerse you into the record like you can almost see the music. Traction in the Rain made this a 5 star album for, such a beautiful song. All in all, a tremendous record and performance by David Crosby.
Well look what we have here another fricking Elvis Costello album. If this guy makes my Spotify top artist I’m blaming the guy who made this list. I picture him in his living Tom right now doing the gahdamn twist to this record while his wife looks on in utter horror. Now, with all that hate out of the way, this album wasn’t the worst out of his apparently vast discography. It was actually one of the more enjoyable ones that I didn’t mind having on in the background while got ready for work. So kudos to you list guy, you got one Elvis Costello album out of 1000 kinda right. 3.5/5 stars
So many vibes on this project, I’m not sure how I feel about it. But it captured my attention enough to keep me listening for an hour so I’m thinking that’s positive. Definitely will have to run this one back because I’m truly perplexed by it.
I went into this blind expecting a heavy metal album because of the title. So you could imagine the pleasant surprise I was in for with this album. I didn’t pay too too much attention to it because I kinda had it on in the background but the songs I love, I loved! Im
Classsicccc hip hop man. Real early 2000’s southern rap at its peak. Outlast just knew how to put together complete projects. It was good to hear a young Killer Mike and Gangsta Boo (RIP 🕊️). Stacks and Big Boi will always deserve the praise they get because it’s been 24 years and this album doesn’t sound dated, I could see it being released with in the last decade honestly. You can hear where some current artists were inspired by it, like a Tyler or a Smino. Brilliant project all around!
N.E.R.D. will always have a space in Hip-Hop lore because of their versatility. The way this album has so many different genres flowing through it is what makes it so great. They did a lot of different things very well on here and they also made it make sense. I understand the low ratings because people in general have a hard time with things when they can’t find a box to place it in. So they reject it because they just can’t compute it. I implore you to put what you usually think something of a certain genre should sound like and try to listen with an open mind. It might sound way different to you plus that’s what this project is all about! Fantastic album, legendary collective, 757 forever!
I never understood how my parents listened to this type of music as a kid. But as an adult I understand the appeal. It’s soothing at times, delightful at others and all around good music. This was a nice way to start the day, I don’t think it was the most remarkable thing I’ve ever heard but it was enjoyable.
I really need to start reading the genre before I listen because I was thinking it would be a metal album or something like that. This was nothing of the sort, it was the perfect music on a sunny day and it just made you feel good when you listened to it. Wasn’t familiar with Jamiroquai but I will get acquainted with them more now
This shit slapped, I have nothing else to offer other than that.
We love indie
This is the album you hear in purgatory right before your family pulls the plug on the ventilator. 2.5/5
Music that can’t be denied no matter how hard you try. The classics will always be classic!!
I loved this album. Listening to it felt cinematic, I could see the story they were trying to paint through the music which is always beautiful. I think the acoustic versions are the highlights of the project, I would like to hear the acoustic version of all of the songs tbh.
This album isn’t bad but it isn’t remarkable. I’ve heard this album at least 7 times on this list.
I love listening to live albums because you get to feel the energy of the crowd. It transports you to the venue and it’s like you’re taking in the live show with them. You get the artists personality and get a tiny glimpse into how they perform live. For older artists like Same Cooke, you get a sense of how they were received in that era. The music sounds incredible, his voice, command of the crowd and showmanship show through the records. I thoroughly enjoyed this record!
Mid
Now THIS is the type of music I enjoy. The vibes are immaculate, the songs are all similar but not in a dull way, the vocals float over the beat beautifully. I was immediately transported to summer by the lake with a beer in my hand staring off into the horizon. Not a skip on here and I’ll actually go back and listen to this again & again. This is why I came to this site in the first place!
Sonically, this album is solid. It was great motivation for my run this morning. It got monotonous through the middle of it but the last few tracks were the highlight of the album for me. All around solid project!
I can’t even put into words how fire this album was to me. The whole thing made me feel like I was gracefully floating through time to happier times. I’m running this back again & again & again & again & again… & again!
First time listening to this! Classic album, I’m not sure on where I feel on how this ranks in his catalog but it’s damn sure at or near the top. Just top tier rapping, production, flow and song making. Hog is really one of the greatest to do this rap shit and he shows it constantly on this project. The beat on Blueprint!!!!! Eminem might’ve got him on Renegade though, I have to spin that back and see!
Solid album but nothing spectacular that grabbed my attention.
GZA THE MFING GENIUS!!! This was a master class of cerebral, effortless, boom bap rapping. I need to listen to more of the solo Wu albums because this was great. My neck hurts because I was just nodding for 55 minutes straight. I gotta spin it back again so I can catch everything he was saying but the bars I did catch HIT. So happy to finally get some more Hip Hop because I was getting Rock’d out.
I love live albums! Her voice was gorgeous and she even made her mess ups sound good. Her talent jumped out of the headphones for me and who doesn’t love old timey jazz?
This was the most unexpected sounding album I’ve encountered so far. These brothers gave me mid for almost an entire project and then “You’re the best thing” played and it upped this albums rating for me. That song is just so good for no reason at all.
Dare I say this was Groovy??
The got my attention right around Velouria
Some 80’s pop for ya ass! After the first song it was a five for me unless the album was complete ass but it was not!
You know what? That wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Now I need to know what she was going through because sounds like she was about to jump off a cliff!!
Real Hip Hop!!! Black Thoght is just phenomenal, poignant lyrics., cool ass delivery and flow and of course Quest ties it all together. I love the arrangement of the records, the production is smooth & enjoyable. Tremendous record!
This can’t be the world famous Beatles with this bland ass album??? I’ll save my full judgment until I listen to the more heralded albums but this ain’t it yall.
Album was some good ass mid music.
I was into it at first but then they lost me towards the end of the album. Then I was just ready for it to be over.
FUCK YOU MOM I DONT WANNA GO TO SCHOOL ass album (Banger)
Annoying background noise
Ignoring the fact that this was produced by a FUCKING MURDERER, this is a great Christmas record with timeless songs that we still play in our household to this day. But knocking off a star because, again, he’s a FUCKING MURDERER.
This is that two stepping in the barn type music. That fishing out in the lake by yourself type music. Not too bad honestly.
Fight the power forever!!!
I’m not even gonna lie to ya dawg, I’m not listening to all that
Hol up… This mfer really did look like Timothée Chalamet! I feel like no one can really hate blues music. Even at its worst it’s still enjoyable. This one, however, was solid with some catchy tunes.
That was a dope record to listen to on my run this morning. Like bruh was all over the place sonically but it worked for me.
This album wasn’t the most impactful thing that I’ve heard but it was enjoyable nonetheless.
Funky with a side of funk and a tall glass of funk to wash it down with.
I can’t lie to you, I felt like a classy ass bitch listening to this. I was snapping my fingers in the back of the Uber like I was a rich aristocrat. Snazzy jazzy album!
Ok I see the hype! That album was magnificent. I can’t explain just one thing that I loved about it but it just felt good to listen to. I had to spin it back again just to get in that good mood again. Incredible project!
Hey this Disney channel ass record kinda had me tapping my feet a little bit, OK Tori!!
I don’t know whether I hate this or absolutely love this record. I can’t deny how pleasant the music sounds to my ears though, very soothing
Name a better duo than Dr. Dre & that keyboard. Everything in this album seems to be in its perfect place. From the vocals, to the drums, to the skits. G-Funk is one of my favorite eras of hip-hop and nothing else will ever sound this good. One of the greatest albums in hip-hop history, loved this listen!
This was one genre blending thrill ride of a record. At times it felt dull and others it felt a little weird. Overall, I enjoyed listening to it and the good songs are fucking phenomenal.
Solid
Elliott Smith is such an amazing songwriter to me and this project was no different. His music can get monotonous at times and it am a make you zone out from his greatest trait, his words. That’s why I can’t give it a five. I know his production is minimal because he wants you to hear what he’s saying but it could’ve used just a tad bit more spice on it. All in all, I still enjoyed this effort!
Did I just listen to 66 minutes of someone playing the piano?? Absolutely. Did I love every minute of it and found the deeper meaning of life while listening? You bet your fucking ass I did.
5 stars eh? I guess you could say I LOVE this album! *Slaps knee, laughs alone in awkward silence, removes himself from the room*
This sounded like I was in the room with them while they were recording the album
To start a record off with an all time classic then you’re putting yourself in a position to have to deliver exceptionally for the rest of the Album. He does that and more, such timeless music, smooth vocals and terrific production. I love this album, it’s just makes you feel good
Yea I’m not listening to 3 hours of that. I gave em 17 minutes of my time and that was more than they deserved.
I’ve heard this style done better before but I still enjoy the music.
Album was cool, nothing spectacular. I think maybe I listened in the wrong setting but I wasn’t moved.
Willie had a joint, a guitar and a dream. I’m glad he achieved them because our ears are better off for them. I usually hate cover albums but this one grabbed me from the jump and simply refused to let me go.
I can’t even begin to explain how beautiful this album sounds to my ears. It’s almost like every chord, every key and every horn is perfectly arranged in the right place. Then his voice comes over and completely sweeps you off your feet and suspends you in the air as you float through this project. Phenomenal work by Mr. Kiwanuka!
I got a special place in my heart for Psychedelic music man. That’s why these records will always slap to me!
I needed that Jazz album today. Classic Jazz has a way of soothing the soul and this record was no different. Plus, Thelonious Monk is the most fire name of all time.
This shit bangs, get ya ears checked
Afrika Bambaataa heard this and a light bulb went off like in the cartoons! Slow start for me but once it got into the meat of the album everything started to sound amazing and I was rocking with them.
This is objectively a terrible sounding album. I had hope for one song but then it quickly turned into a mess. Idk who pissed Kate off and drove her to make this horrendous album but they should be put in prison or stoned to death for their crimes against humanity.
One of the greatest hip hop albums of all time, arguably the greatest! Big was so good at telling you a story while rapping in an elite fashion. Timeless records, effortless flow and the ability to weave in a story throughout this project, flawless man. 10 stars!!!!
This sounds like the opening to an early 2000’s action movie. You know the exact scene I’m talking about too. With that being said, this album is a banger, the hits HIT and it’s just some feel good crooning on silly beats.
Sounded like the part in CSI or NCIS montage of them examining the body. Unremarkable but some songs slapped a little.
Now THIS is some psychedelic blues-esque rock for yo ass!! I mean I’m still coming down from the journey they took me on. Pencil me in as Doors fan fr
Badly Drawn Boy your album was perfectly crafted bravo!
Shit made me feel like I was in a 1940s gangster flick
Aye that Honky Toni had me tapping my foot a lil bit, hold up now!
I wish I could spell garage like they pronounced it because it would give this “review” a little razzle-dazzle! But sadly I can’t, the album was cool but I’m not moved beyond that. Songs are catchy head boooing records tho
This is a vibey ass soundtrack! I love how they used to curate albums to accompany movies & shows back I the day. Now they just pick the most popping song and just throw it in the trailer. I think this is a good way to set the tone for a series and the music is just incredible. Issac Hayes is criminally underrated!
Just your run of the mill early 90’s rock album
Banger on banger on banger on banger!! Type of music that makes you want to ugly dance in the middle of the party with likeminded weirdos!
One Rainy Wish will forever be in my head. Jimi was good at arranging a song and making it an experience for those who chose to listen. His artistry is just unmatched to me, one of the rare artists I can just throw on at any time while in any mood. Love this album!
Generally a good album but it didn’t jump out at me in any way
If I wanted to be screamed at for 40 minutes I’d just call my mother.
Listen this shit reminds me of college so my rating is biased and I don’t give a damn!!
Two stepping in the shower with some Sativa in the bow, a vibe indeed!
Some soothing guitar rifts will get me every single time!
I’ve heard about Ms. Joplin my entire life and this is my first time ever listening to her. The soul in her voice JUMPED out the records, my goodness, I want expecting that whatsoever.
Brit-Pop where the dash location represents the quality of the music, mid.
The 80s were an experimental time so it was either hit or miss. This project gave you a great example of both.
Infinite head bangs. Infinite Air Guitars. This shit slaps harder than Vasilii Kamotskii!!!
I remember when my grandma was moving and we found her old record player with this record still in it. Now that she’s gone it’s beautiful to hear this record and hear the beauty in it that I know she heard listening to it for all those years. RIP Grandma and RIP Marvin Gaye!
Album cover is so hard and the album doesn’t quite reach its level. But the music is still good enough for an enjoyable album!
This was a shoo in for a 1 but then I smoked a little bit and started playing Madden… I locked tf in! Great hype music but still not fir me 😂
Do you have the time to listen to me whine About nothin' and everything all at once? I am one of those melodramatic fools Neurotic to the bone, no doubt about it Sometimes, I give myself the creeps Sometimes, my mind plays tricks on me It all keeps adding up I think I'm cracking up Am I just paranoid? Am I just stoned?
Spacey, vibey, beautifully weird. Just like the good Bowie intended. 3.8/5
I’m not sure how I feel about it but I know I don’t hate it
This album just made my soul happy, I can’t describe it in any other way. Then the all time banger came on and now I’m over the moon. Great album, that was able to evoke emotion out of me!
Sounds like what being a butterfly flying through a field on a sunny day must feel like.
Echo and the Bunnymen is such a fire name for a band
Limp Bizkit? More like Limp Dizckit, am I right??… No??? I’ll see myself out.
Felt like a walk through the park on a sunny day with a good buddy
This album was solid overall. Her voice annoyed me at parts but the songs I like, she’s incredible on them.
Queen is one of those bands that I have yet to hear a bad song from them. Their songs each feel like they’re been carefully crafted and feel very intricate. Every album feels like they’re putting on an audio show for us. Queen II is no different just a flawless listen from front to back.
At first, when I pressed play, I was like “ahh hell naw!” Then as I kept listening my foot started tapping and a warm feeling arose in my chest lol this shit makes you happy & I can’t hate on that. Not my cup of tea but I enjoyed it nonetheless!
Yea David Bowie is one of them ones, my apologies sir for not listening to your discography sooner. This was a masterpiece to listen to, a complete body of work, flawless from start to finish. The arrangements are top notch, his voice floats over them, this floating around in your head and taking you along this journey with him. I can’t say enough about it!
This shit banged more than I thought it would!
This was a feel good album, it evoked nostalgia and brought up the beautiful wonders of being a child again.
I'm your mama, I'm your daddy I'm that ***** in the alley I'm your doctor when in need Want some coke? Have some weed You know me, I'm your friend Your main boy, thick and thin I’m your pusher man! This album is smooootthhhhh man just makes you feel cool inside. This is that cigar with a glass of cognac, two stepping in the living room type of music. Timeless!
Funky in more ways than one
Hit so hard it put a Hole in my chest
My second Paul Simon album this week, what is this thing trying to tell me???
The ultimate vibe man, just 30 minutes of good music. Setting a scene with instruments is a beautiful skill to possess!
They need to put this shit back in that damn metal box, bury it and never let it resurface again. This album will be playing during the first purge.
Live albums shoot 100% from the field every time
This shit is so hard! Whoever is on the guitar is absolutely shredding. Ozzy’s voice is the perfect complement to it to, like a cherry on top of a sundae.
I’m leaving this album feeling very confused. Do I like this album?? Did Nick Cave mind fuck me into liking this album?? I’m not sure so I’ll just sit here on the fence.
Now this is what I’m talking about! Late 60s/70s rock was just elite. They weren’t scared to go for it and the guitar riffs are magical. It was probably the acid, but let’s just say they were talented. This album sounds incredible, I was walking to work feeling unstoppable. Undeniably great music, they made a new fan out of me!
Common is elite at rapping. This album showed his versatility for me and I wasn’t familiar with his story telling abilities. It’s always good hearing slum village and Mos Def rapping, it’s soothing to the ear. Real Hip-Hop til infinity!!
I forgot what I wanted to say so I give this an A
This had some good songs on it but all in all, I’m cool.
I was jamming my head in literal traffic
I still don’t know what to make of Nick Cave and this is my second album of his that I’ve listened to. The middle of this album was so good to me that I have to rate this higher than I want to because the other songs weren’t doing it for me. I know it’s not terrible music but something about it isn’t fully hitting, maybe a whole album consisting of the middle song types would do it.
I think what Ian Anderson said in the interview on the special edition perfectly describes how I felt listening to the album. I thought it was a fine album with some great songs.
One of the greatest voices of all time putting on a clinic for 41 minutes. Superb listen, the ability to evoke emotion out of your audience with the mere sound of your voice is a special talent. I R E S P E C T the quality of this album, just phenomenal!
I’ve never heard of John Martyn before but I thoroughly enjoyed this project. It made me feel at peace, definitely was staring out the window of a train to this one.
I hate when artists get the title of their album wrong. This should definitely be called The Sad Ass Songs of Leonard Cohen. In all seriousness, the folk genre is one that I never thought I would enjoy as much as I do now. Yes, it’s a sad ass album but hidden there is a beautiful gem, the songwriting shining through and touch us all. Beautiful album and I’m always a fan of a good melodic whistle to end an album.
George came through with a solid project with this one. I don’t think I’ve heard an entire project of his before and it was solid. You could hear him trying to usher in a different sound for the new decade and for the most part, I think he did a good job.
This album would’ve been ten times better if they AI’d his vocals because the beats are out of this world.
One of the greatest feel good albums of all time, if not one of the greatest albums of all time period. The positive just oozes from the headphones man I love this album. You can throw it on at any time of day and it’ll make you smile. Not to mention, the music itself is incredible. Classic album!
Album #400!!!! I see why they named themselves Electric Light Orchestra because this album sounds like a score. Carefully crafted and everything was placed meticulously in the perfect place. This is what I imagine being in a good mood while on a walk during a sunny day sounds like. Which perhaps is the reason why they named this project Out of the Blue. Classic album with classic records, I love when this project gives me back to back classics!
This album shocked the absolute hell out of me with how good it is. Holy shit, Heaven Can Wait is such a beautiful song man, I’ve never listened to a meatloaf song before besides the one song everyone knows (That I didn’t know was meatloaf until I got this album this morning). Just got to Two Out of Three Ain’t Bad and holy shit…. I blame my parents man yall are supposed to pass this shit down! This album is theatrical, fun and something that I would spin back again and again. That’s three 5 star albums in a row for me which means I’m due for some duds lol
I liked the album for the most part but his voice was taking me out of it
Just some rootin’ n some tootin’
This is a cloudy day album if I’ve ever heard one
The Darkness brought the light with this project. Am overwhelmingly smash of a record man. They absolutely killed it, lost me at a couple of moments on this record but they had me by the balls for the most of it. Just goes to show how much better your rock music can be when the voice of your lead singer doesn’t make you want to claw your eyes out. (Looking at you shrilly voice guy from The Only Ones) & I just cleaned the hell out of my house to this damn record, bravo!
The boss was bossin’…. BIG JERSEY!!!
Emmylou you grabbed my attention and you held it for 42 minutes and for that, I commend you! Some stylistic things are keeping me from a high rating but all in all, this album was solid.
This album feels like he was experimenting with a current sound. It feels inauthentic to who he is as an artist. These beats and the background vocals are clearly there to supplement his lack of comfort with doing this type of music. His lyrics are strong which is kinda saving it from being a 1 for me but there seems to be a lot going on here with this album and a bulk of isn’t good.
I miss break beats in hip hop so much man. This album was incredible, it had a message, they were saying something!! The beats were the highlight for me though, it made the music fun but didn’t over power the message they were trying to convey.
I like the content of this album it seems like it was her coming of age album. Very introspective, the control she has over her voice was able to amplify that for me. Not to mention her voice is just phenomenal so that also makes me rate this album high. For an early 2000’s pop album it has more depth than I anticipated. I’m a fan and pop music usually isn’t my bag but this album surprised me! Only criticism is the length, I felt she could’ve shortened this album and kept the same impact. 4.2/5
I went into this with an open mind and they managed to close that bitch back up so damn fast. I could’ve died 9 times without ever listening to this. At least Ice Cube’s verse was cool!
This was fucking cool
Damn Stephen!!!! I would’ve never guessed that he would have this much soul based on that album cover. I thought I was in for something else but this brother showed me something! He made me feel something which is what I think music is all about. I’m happy that this project is getting me hip to artists I have slept on. I just did a deep dive because I felt ignorant and I’m realizing how influential this gentleman is to rock music. Didn’t realize this was a debut solo album. Now I can hear the parts of the album where he’s figuring his stuff out and why I didn’t really connect with the latter half of the album. It felt like a shift from the beginning and it was kind of jarring. Album was still enjoyable nonetheless. 3.8/5
I listened to the whole hour and 48 of this album. I recognize that it’s good music as far as sonics go. Like they are absolutely shredding, I can hear the command they have over their audience and I know it was one heck of a show just by hearing the outtakes. My knock is that it all sounds like one long ass song and that’s where I get lost. But I fully understand that if you’re enamored with this sound then this album is god like to you, which is why I can’t rate it lower than a 3. Unspectacular to me but I can hear how it could be spectacular to someone else.
Seems like this would be a pretentious person’s favorite album. Wasn’t terrible, wasn’t spectacular, solid background music.
When I tell you that I am shocked by this album!!! Holy shit I was expecting something totally different, I braced myself for a metal album and was completely shocked in the best way possible. This album is so good and it will have staying power for me. Definitely need to spin this one back, incredible!
I mean what is there left to be said about arguably one of the greatest albums ever with arguably one of the greatest songs ever on it? This album is magnificent, even the B-Sides are legendary. 10/5 stars
I’m honestly not really sure what the fuck I just listened to.
If I never have to hear another Nick Cave album again then I’d die a happy man. Apt name for the album because that’s what listening to this is driving me to do.
Tupac is such a phenomenal MC because of the emotion he can evoke from his listeners through his lyrics and his delivery. You can hear the pain through his voice and that he means what he says. This album was amazing to me because it didn’t feel like I was listening for an hour because I was entrenched in the journey he was taking me on. Classic album from a classic artist that left this earth too soon!
I wonder if, when the people of 1976 put this record on, they knew they were listening to a classic album that would stand the test of time. This album is as smooth as butter and gets better with time and every listen.
The album was cool, I didn’t necessarily enjoy the distortion for most of it, but it was still enjoyable.
This brother was singing about slavery and I’m over jigging my heart away, I think I’ve lost the plot… Phenomenal album, I will definitely give this one another spin!
One of the greatest albums of all time. This was Kanye at his peak, it’s like he put all his eras together and created a super Kanye then gave us this masterpiece of an album. The composition, the production, rappers had some of their greatest verses on this album (I.e. Nicki Minaj & Rick Ross). Put aside his new deranged bigoted state, Kanye has always been one of the geniuses when it comes to this music shit. Flawless album that aged like the finest of wines!
This album was cool, I wasn’t blown away but I enjoyed listening to this.
This was objectively awful. 0 redeeming qualities, I want to scrub my ears of this.
After the last album I heard yesterday, this was a much needed elevation in quality. It was a great listening experience and I love how they blended many different elements of different genres to make their own unique sound.
Pretty unremarkable music if you ask me.
Wavy, floaty and a great soundtrack for a day in the life.
I’m mixed on this album because there are songs on here that I love. My favorite thing about Beyonce is her voice, it’s an instrument to me. I think some of the more pop leaning records over power her voice and it takes me out of the record. But the records where the production is simple and her voice is carrying us through the records are simply beautiful. But this is definitely not her best album by a longshot. So ultimately, I give it a 3.7/5 but I’m bumping it up to a 4 because it’s fucking Beyonce, cmon!!!
4 seconds in and I already want to turn this shit off. Maybe it’ll get better. Update: it wasn’t that bad!
This album’s rating is cursed by the fact that I’ve heard this album so many time since I’ve started listening to the albums on this list
This shit just pissed me off
With a classic record, like take me out, it can sometimes overshadow a project. But this project stands on its own as just a good damn project.
I wasn’t as moved as I would’ve liked to have been
Cmon it’s the temptations, of course this shit slapped!
Smooth as butter on a hot piece of toast!
This falls into the deep abyss of I’ve heard this exact album on this list hundreds of times
Started off good and I was digging it. Then it just got progressively weirder as the album went on. It was like a damn nosedive, I don’t whether to be impressed or concerned by their “creative” process.
The talent it takes to sing acapella for a full album cannot be ignored even if the music isn’t necessarily my cup of tea.
The last song on this project is fucking incredible, even better than the two major songs that are well known from this album. I’m only giving it a 4 because at certain points I got lost in the album and it felt like one long song. However, the long song was still enjoyable to listen to.
Their name is apt because this music made my c… Hahaha jk it was a very solid album.
Around the world sends this project to the moon for me. Everything else was just icing on the electronic cake.
Bobby this album fucks so hard
Brother, I need this on vinyl, expeditiously, like the awful hipster that I am.
Might not understand the lyrics but the instruments were speaking to me in a language I fully understand. Timeless summer day music!
I enjoyed this enough to rate it higher than 3 but something was missing for me and I can’t quite put my finger on it. Shadowboxer is a really great record!
THIS ALBUM WAS HARD!!! I was totally expecting it to be complete trash. I’m shocked, I’m shook and I’m shaking ass!!
I tried my best to like metal, I was hoping this would be the one that’d catch my ears. But unfortunately, I just don’t get it. Maybe the next one.
This album is so good. I’m not really the biggest rock guy but they are undeniable. Their chemistry bleeds through the music, it just sounds seamless. I’m usually indifferent to Rock vocalists singing capabilities but Kurt’s voice just fits perfectly. I loved this project!
After listening to this album, I too would like to look through Gary Gillmore’s eyes. I’ve seen criticism that this sounds like every 70s British punk album and I agree… but all of them shits are hard so I dig it!
I was pop locking like a prime cholo
Her voice was so soulful and soothing, perfect drive for a sunny morning weekend drive!
The legendary Anita Baker man whew! One of the phenomenal vocalist of all time and she put on a clinic in this album. Definitely cleaning the house to this one today! How the hell did someone on here call this unremarkable?? How do you listen to Mystery and come to that conclusion? I’m sensing a lack of rhythm and taste.
This album sounds so much like 2002 and I can’t explain it any better than that.
This shit sounds terrible in hindsight, it just sounds old af but it’s still a phenomenal album with classic records that will never go out of style!
Yea naw not for me in the slightest
Hello??? Did I just hear a killer 10 minute guitar and drum solo to end the album??? Bruh that was a beautiful damn journey that they took us on, I’m amazed right now because I just didn’t expect it.
60’s rock is so elite and they have a sound all their own, I’m a fan of this record!
Sounded like that one episode when SpongeBob went to the future
Dig me out and bury me 6ft because her voice killed me.
3 starts for the band name and an extra star for a solid album
Someone please help me I can’t stop gazing at my shoes and now I’m elevating
Going to California is such a beautiful song man. This album was 42 minutes of pure euphoria, it almost felt too short. I wish I had more time so I guess I’ll just have to spin that mfer back again!
An overwhelming sensation of uselessness is the perfect way I’d describe this album.
This was a solid album, this is the type of music that I love so I’m biased here. It wasn’t anything super remarkable but I don’t think that takes away from the quality of it for me. I just wish it was like 20 minutes shorter because it started to drag a bit towards the end.
It was ok
Fred Neil by Fred Neil was as bland as the name of the album.
A two hour long album!?!? I’m gonna update this review in real time… Wait a minute now this shit kinda bangs… ok about half way through and this has been a roller coaster Of emotions! “Love is suicide”?? Who hurt this brother? Also, 1979 is a banger, makes the whole hour of listening worth it… They went from 1979 to a screamo record then Through the Eyes of a Ruby. I’m not mad just confused but either way I’m waving my shirt above my head and headbanging out the car window… I forgot to keep the updates going but I like the way it ended. This was a looonnnnggg two hour journey but it’s rare for me to be captured for this long, especially by a genre that’s not my go-to. Hell of a record!
I don’t have much to say about it which might not bode well for this rating. However, the music was good enough but idk if it’s memorable enough to be higher than a 3.
Ok listen it’s not terrible music in the slightest. It’s just not my vibe and that’s ok. I just don’t hear the reason why it’s on this list and I’m truly baffled by the criteria to make it. It’s fine music but did I HAVE to hear it before I die? Absolutely not.
Now this is music brother!! Holy shit, he had me from the moment I pressed play just a timeless sound. I can’t believe that I’ve never heard any of these songs before today but I’m glad that I know them now! I wish I can transport back in time and listen to this for the first time again, 20 stars!! Y’all need to get your ears checked in my humble opinion.
That shit banged a little. It got a little shoulder movement outta me!
This album was so good from start to finish. I usually hate skits or interludes on projects but it helped her carry her story forward so I didn’t mind them this time. Something was in that water in Gary Indiana boy!
I know the legend of Elton John and I know the hits. This is my first time listening to an album of his and I understand the hype. This was hands down just incredible music and a damn near cinematic experience. I’m impressed and I want to hear more projects from him!
For every classic album this list throws you a dud like this
I wonder how this album sounds whilst on ecstacy??
Sounds like British Lauryn Hill mixed with Jorja Smith, I’m sat!
This reminds me of my 3rd grade teacher, that geezer loved The Beach Boys. I understand, I think the beauty of music is its ability to evoke emotion out you with an arrangement of cords and lyrics. The Beach Boys do that masterfully on this project and it wasn’t always the same emotion. I enjoyed this listen!
I don’t think I’ve ever heard a bad Stevie Wonder song and that says alot because the man has dropped a thousand albums
It was soothing blues music just wasn’t in the mood for it
What in the actual fuck is this??? They can Orbit around deez nutz!
Finally, a metal album that I didn’t totally hate. Idk if this project is breaking down or what but this great at some points. Overall, it was still a task to get through but, again, I didn’t hate it.
This album was fun to listen to and is that type of timeless music that makes you feel good. I can only imagine how it made people feel when it first came out in the 60’s! I will definitely be listening to this one again on a sunnier day with some leaves in a pipe.
This was an enjoyable album. I thought I wasn’t keen of Radio head but they won me over with this one. Just good music to sing along to and make you feel something.
Just your run of the mill album nothing really special about this to me
Solid little number
This album took an unexpected turn for me. I had no idea it was gonna end as great as it did. I was skeptical when I first hit play because I didn’t know where he was taking us but I’m happy with where it wound up
This was good music but I’ve heard this album done better before in my humble opinion.
I thought this was gonna be a metal album so you can imagine my surprise! The rhymes were cool but the production is what really made the project for me. It’s something about 90s boom bap beats that just make hip-hop sound good.
