Signing Off
UB40Never been a big reggae fan, so the rating is tainted by that, but it was still pretty good.
Never been a big reggae fan, so the rating is tainted by that, but it was still pretty good.
Very different! Distinctly late 90s. Quite enjoyable for sure, great way to help unwind.
Never heard of Screaming Trees but glad I know them now. Great grunge/rock sound to their music. Thoroughly enjoyed this one.
Grungy and brash; I can't really explain my adoration for this style of music, but I really groove with it. Courtney has such a strong voice and intense presence, and even though I didn't vibe with every song, I still enjoyed the ride.
Definitely not at Can’t Buy a Thrill levels of good, but it’s still Steely Dan which means it’s still really good. I’ll be listening to it again soon to potentially form a second opinion.
With classics such as "Gary's Got a Boner", it's hard to deny the impact that The Replacements had on the punk rock scene. However, while this album had some bops that I could bob to like "I Will Dare", overall I wasn't truly encapsulated by what was there, no matter how fun the overall album is.
Billy Joel has always been a favorite of mine; his strong lyricism and jazzy melodies always keep me invested. While this album has some absolute bangers ("Movin' Out (Anthony's Song) is AMAZING), I can't say every song hits like I would like it to. Still fantastic, though.
This is some coffee house, late night jazz bullshit, and I'm all for this. Very relaxed, melodic, beautifully composed.
Bob Dylan has always been a beautiful lyricist with incredibly soulful and meaningful songs. This album is no exception and really epitomizes his style. The only issue I have, and this probably goes for most folk albums, is that with just having a guitar, harmonica, and a sultry voice, the songs blend a little too much.
Grungy and brash; I can't really explain my adoration for this style of music, but I really groove with it. Courtney has such a strong voice and intense presence, and even though I didn't vibe with every song, I still enjoyed the ride.
This album is just funky fun. What an absolute joy.
I like Carrie & Lowell more, but I understand the acclaim that Illinois gets. Very artistic and unique with fantastic lyricism.
I'm surprised that I didn't vibe with this album as much as I thought I would. I really enjoy the driving bass and atmospheric tones, but I guess I was just hoping for more energy or something.
This being a rock opera, the sum of the whole is better than any one part (except for PINBALL WIZARD, babyyyyy); it makes for an interesting listen, but unfortunately nothing is incredibly memorable. However, it's genuinly a great and unique album.
THIS ALBUM FUCKING SLAPS IT'S SO GROOVY AND JAZZY AND FUNKY.
Very percussive and raw, both in sound and substance. Fiona clearly defied any possibility of being chained to any certain artistic expression, fetching the boltcutters to use on her own music.
I'm more of a fan of The Doors' psychedelic sound vs. their blues sound, but this is still quality Doors music. Jim's voice is as prominent as ever and the instrumentation is great. Unfortunately, there just isn't much that really stands out for me.
Meat Loaf’s vocals and presentation are immaculate. This man was made for performing, hot damn.
Had no idea what to expect, but was DEFINITELY not expecting a very droning and atmospheric shoegaze album. While I had to check to make sure my audio was working correctly at times due to the bizarre mixing on this album, I still really enjoyed it.
I enjoyed everything that wasn’t Marilyn Manson. Problem is that this is a Marilyn Manson album, so there is a lot of Marilyn Manson on it. The only standout is The Beautiful People, which ironically enough is a song I really like despite not really liking everything else.
Nothing mind blowing, but still groovy. We Will Fall felt so out of place, but that makes it fun!
Honestly, it was a little boring for my taste. I like my electronic music to be more bombastic and this just wasn’t it. Not to say it’s bad as it was still good, but it didn’t make too big of an impact on me.
Love this; the way B. B. King can work a crowd is phenomenal, not to mention just how much soul and passion is put into the music. I usually don't like live albums, but in this case the crowd is truly a part of the experience and heightens the impact of King's music. The only reason I don't give this 5 stars is that the album seems to be pieced together from various live performances versus being one performance, and that breaks a bit of the immersion.
This album was a bop. I really enjoyed the grooves, sounded exactly like an 80s band. And I like that.
This album was full of bangers, I definitely understand why people were obsessed.
I understand why this would be an important album, I just don’t really like it. It’s sounds like music that would be included in a bootleg NES game.
It was good; kind of folksy, a little groovy, decent overall. Nothing great, per say, but not egregious either.
Loved it; great mix of different sounds. Time of the Season is the obvious standout, but Care of Cell 44 is a jam as well.
Never heard of Screaming Trees but glad I know them now. Great grunge/rock sound to their music. Thoroughly enjoyed this one.
It’s good! I like American Idiot more, but this album is incredibly solid, especially with singles like Basket Case attached to it.
Not the biggest industrial fan, but it was still pretty good. At the very least I enjoyed how unique the sound is.
It was an enjoyable album, but only a few songs really stood out and I can’t say I’m the biggest Enter Sandman fan.
Some songs really resonated with me, but many others just didn’t hit. I enjoyed the diversity, but overall I feel like the package was a bit weak.
I still don’t care too much about the lady singer, but the rest of the album is great.
Simple, fun, catchy, groovy, jammy, sexy, beautiful, extravagant, clean, dirty, global, passionate, friendly, savvy, luscious, gifted, powerful, electric, home-grown, sweet, cool, dashing
Incredibly smooth and soulful. Isaac Hayes had such a deep, layered voice that flips that sexy switch on immediately. I can’t give this higher than a three though since it was literally four incredibly long songs, but that would lend itself well to making some funky babies.
Pretty good overall; I liked the music, definitely had an interesting mix of 70s and 80s sounds, but not the biggest fan of the singer’s nasally singing.
Soulful, like a more angsty Bob Dylan. Leonard Cohen is going to be contentious, but I enjoyed it a good amount.
I enjoy Biggie for sure, but to be honest there are so many similar flows on this album that a lot of songs feel a bit repetitive. The singles very much stand out, but even listening to the full album they blend in more than I feel they should. Also, not really trying to listen to Biggie fuck someone or get the sloppiest bj outside of that one lady that showed how to do the grapefruit method on YouTube.
What a surprise. This album is so good. I wish I had known about Fishbone earlier because this album is such a fantastic combo of funk and rock.
I’ve always enjoyed Peter Gabriel’s music, so of course I enjoyed this as well. He has a unique voice and good instrumentals that makes for an eclectic combo of songs.
Pretty decent, but not a standout album. Hard to say much anything else, I like the Talking Heads.
Kinda weird, like the Carrot Top of electronic music. It was okay, but can’t say it was amazing in any way. Groovy.
Very 90s electronic music, but I def dig the sound. Very nostalgic. Plus it’s just good.
Very jam heavy. Not much substance, either. It was still good background noise, but it didn’t make for a good listening experience.
Kidz Bop rap. It’s Tricky and Walk This Way are classics, but a lot of their rapping lacks diversity and isn’t super interesting.
Surprisingly I really enjoyed this album. It was so full of soul and character. I thought it was going to be boring and melancholy and it ended up way more extravagant than I could imagine.
I enjoy B-52’s later stuff a little more; their sound in the first album doesn’t feel as cohesive. That being said, I love how unique they are and always enjoy what they bring to the table. Plus Rock Lobster is a bop.
Never listened to Dolly, but gotta say that I understand the hype. Beautiful music, through and through. Cant give it 5 stars because 4 seemed more appropriate to me.
Songs were pretty intensely long, but they were still really good. Far less jammy than Grateful Dead, more structured and melodically interesting. Wish it was broken up a little more just so I could focus on the parts I liked the most, but still a good listen.
Sounded very Gorillaz-esque to me. Interesting style and cool sounds. Really dug the vibes in this one.
The music was beautiful, but I wish it wasn’t purely a capella. I love African instrumentation and I would have loved to have it show up every now and then to break up some of the monotony.
If was better than I anticipated. Still not crazy about it, but it was a fun listen.
Loved it! Steeped in Irish influence and full of life. The album was super long and definitely could have benefited from being shorter, though.
I was enjoying it at the beginning, but then I ended up getting bored with it.
Great album; very soulful and emotional, with catchy instrumentation and Fiona’s sultry voice as the cherry on top.
Massive Attack is pretty cool, man.
Half the album is made up of their best songs and the other half is really good. Not much more to say.
Enjoyed it just as much as the last SY album. Possibly even more.
Best rap album we’ve had so far. Super cool, super creative; really dug this one.
Diverse and well-crafted with songs that flow from one to the next. Loved it. Helped me pass the time while trying to beat this stupid-ass level in Super Mario Wonder.
Made for good background noise, but wasn’t too exciting outside of that. Dug some of the funky beats, but was pretty chill overall.
Just good stuff. Layla is the obvious standout, but the other songs have a nice flow. Enjoyable experience.
Absolute jam. It’s a bit too long and falls off in the second half, but still a great listen.
Just fantastic, what a great album.
Honestly, one of my favorite rap albums so far. Idk why, but this style really gets to me and I really enjoyed it.
Liked it more than the other Metallica album. Hard to piece my thoughts together on this as it’s not my favorite genre, but it was still good.
Quite nice. Not something I would just casually listen to, but I did enjoy it overall.
Damn, what a great album. It just all blended so well. Love Hendrix.
Short and sweet. If I were to listen to a Christmas album, this would be the one. A bunch of classics on here.
Loved it; funky, soulful, and fun.
What a bizarre album. And yet, I loved it. Reminded me of Enigma.
It was fine. An interesting mix of Rolling Stones, The Who, and Beatles influences (or maybe just 60s sounds, really). Nothing enthralling, but an okay mix.
Long but good
Started strong but lasted too long.
This guy is so greasy. Like the human equivalent of a floppy Baconator.
It was pretty good. Nothing groundbreaking for me, but Bono does have a stellar voice.
Great album. Blondie kicks ass.
Great stuff. I like IV better, but this still has some great songs and a killer first track.
This rocked, especially Part IV because it was on Pure Moods and that really took me back to my childhood.
I ended up absolutely loving this album. Fantastic from start to finish. I figured I would enjoy it, but still a surprise.
Aint nothin to write home about.
I feel Exodus was better. This was okay.
Pretty good. Still can’t get into JD as much as I would like to, unfortunately :(
Love me some Paul Simon, fantastic lyricist and musician.
Good stuff, enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Really enjoyed the Brazilian influences.
Boring! I was excited before I was rudely disrupted with a LACK OF SOUL.
I like it more than the last Hendrix album and that album was bangin’.
Very unique, with a surprising mix of folk sounds and more classic REM sounds. Really enjoyed this one.
Background music for a movie scene where a grunge band is playing in a garage in a sterile Stepford Wives-esque neighborhood.
Dragged a little in the beginning, but picked up as the album went on. A definite classic, helped define the 90s with their unique sound and Chris’s strong vocals.
Not my favorite CCR album, but when most of their stuff is top tier being lower on the scale doesn’t lower you too much.
Can’t believe I’m giving this a 1, but I straight up just don’t see the merits of this album.
Pretty groovy, but nothing stellar.
Absolutely lovely. This is what a live album should be; an experience unbroken.
I enjoyed it; it’s Slipknot, so you know what you’re getting into with it, but I’m always surprised at how much I dig it.
It was good, but I didn’t really care for it all that much. Nothing inspiring to me.
Turns out I just can’t get into the Beastie Boys. They’re just not great with bland mixes and pretty garbage lyrics.
Peak Rush, absolutely fantastic.
Started with a banger then fizzled immediately. Some good jams here and there that have a very city pop like sound, but just wasn’t quite there.
Loved it. Reminded me of my father throughout since he would play Georgia on my Mind a lot. This is difficult because I’m definitely stuck between 4 and 5, but at the end of the day I’ll stick with a strong 4.
What a bop. My appreciation for RHCP has only grown over time and I’m better for it. These guys know how to jam.
Good shit for sure. Catchy, energetic, fun. Love me some JA.
Being such a big Gorillaz fan, I’ve always found it weird that the fandom didn’t naturally transfer to Blur as well, but I’ve never really taken time to fully listen to them. I did quite enjoy the album and hope there’s more on this list (though I’ll probably listen to it on my own as well).
While I believe I liked the other REM album a little more, this was still great. I should have given these a listen a long time ago.
The significance of albums such as this should not be understated. However, it didn’t vibe with me personally, thus the score.
Loved it. A lot of my friends really enjoy Elliott Smith and I totally understand why. Fantastic lyricist with good melodies to boot.
I actually quite enjoyed this. Some solid early punk, fun ride throughout.
It was okay. Definitely like Purple Rain better. While the beats and sounds were super interesting and fun, the album overall just didn’t capture my attention as much.
Very nostalgic for me. Also helps that it’s just good music.
Relaxing, beautiful and simple country music. Doesn’t quite rattle these bones like other music does, but I appreciate it.
Such a fantastic album. MGMT helped shape a lot of the music I enjoy today as well as me as a person. I can’t give it 5 stars because a lot of the non-singles don’t hit as well, but I still thoroughly enjoy this album.
Great background music; very relaxing and trance-inducing. Not anything that I would listen to casually, but still good.
Look, I like the Verve. But I’m not sure why this album was here. They’re pretty generic-sounding (at least in this album) and didn't bring anything interesting to the table.
Definitely not at Can’t Buy a Thrill levels of good, but it’s still Steely Dan which means it’s still really good. I’ll be listening to it again soon to potentially form a second opinion.
The Ramones are really good at making different songs sound the exact same. At least they’re catchy.
I loved this album. Beautiful and soulful with some great grooves. Big fan.
Good album for sure. Very diverse and full of bluesy, folksy style. Not quite tickling the fancy, thus the rating.
Little Richard can definitely put on a show.
Decent! Unfortunately, not memorable enough to warrant a higher score, but still interesting and unique, especially given the time period.
Sorry Tom Waits, I just can’t groove with you. Barely a 2.
My man Rufus has some pipes. Album was great, definitely need to listen to more.
Very chill and atmospheric. Not really my thing, but still a fun ride.
I dont know what this muzak-sounding background noise is, but it made for a relaxing drive. Nothing more to it, though. Maybe I would understand it more if I was smokin.
Another mid album from the 90s. They’re nice and good backing tracks, but nothing substantial.
I like the Allman Brothers, I really do. But I just didn’t really enjoy this album. Too long winded, even if it sounded nice.
AMERICA
I’m not down with the ba-wit-da-ba like everyone else, I just can’t stand this guy.
Wasn’t as into this album as the last Spiritualized album. The 90s had so many chill beats, I see why Pure Moods was a thing.
I actually really enjoyed this album, as simple as it was. Gave me Garden State vibes.
I would give this a 3.5, but for this I’ll give it a 4 just because it’s quite a diverse album. Early blues-inspired RS is still RS.
I liked it! Kind of hard to describe their style, but I dig it.
Classic classic. Super short album, but very important. Good stuff.
I love unexpectedly good albums, always a treat.
Tina had such a powerful presence; very soulful and energetic album.
Bizarre to say the least. But good in its own right. Love the Brian Wilson sound.
Jack just knows where it’s at.
Fantastic album. I fully understand the hype after listening to this and Blonde.
I’m going to keep saying that these albums are good until there’s one that I don’t think is good. That day is not today, though, as this album is good.
A bit problematic, but still a bangin album. As far as I can tell the band hasn’t done anything shitty, so I feel better for liking the album.
Lovely album, thoroughly enjoyed. I’ll need to listen to more SZA moving forward.
Interesting and unique, but not quite my vibe, honestly.
This is how you do a live album! A bit too long, though.
It’s just a great album. Bangers and classic CCR.
It sounds nice, but unfortunately just isn’t for me.
Pretty groovy, for real. Nothing spectacular, but it was just a good album.
I fully understand the Beatles hype, this album was so good.
Some of it I liked, some of it was a little slow. I understand how this guy could be such a prolific producer.
I love me a good surprise jam, and The Jam bring the jam.
I wasn’t crazy about it. It felt watered down and weird, like the B-52s of punk but without the self awareness.
Great album! Otis just has this certain sound to him that’s uniquely his.
I actually enjoyed it after previously claiming I wasn’t a huge JA fan.
Solid album with a huge banger on it. Good overall, I like Dire Straits.
Very relaxed. Not something I would actively listen to normally, but would be very enjoyable in the background.
Better than the last Slipknot album, and I liked that one a bunch!
Strange, but to be expected. Good kind of strange, though.
What a weird guy.
It was pretty good. Weirdly more boring than I thought it would be, especially with Dancing in the Dark being on there.
Very groovy, surprised I enjoyed it as much as I did.
Great album with a lot of passion strewn through. Fantastic!
As I said in Discord, too much prog, not enough rock.
I actually kind of enjoyed this. Mild Sufjan vibes.
Ya know, this was a good album.
Interesting to be sure. Not my favorite in recent memory, but a cool romp.
Never been a huge Neil fan. Nothing against him; I like the music and everything. Maybe it’s his voice? Very unique, it is.
It was fun, but nothing amazing. Go-Go's will always be super catchy.
Hollow and uninspired
I liked it! This is the punk that I expect: energy and attitude.
Conflicted on this. Genuinely a great album, but some of the lyrics are a bit bare, so that knocks it down for me.
I hate Tom Waits.
Great live album, great performance, plus the beat version of I Want You to Want Me.
I thought it was fun and interesting! Ahead of its time in a way.
It was okay; nothing stellar. Good listen, but got bored near the end.
Very chill, great flows. A little dated in some elements, but great overall.
As I get older I appreciate the White Stripes more and more.
Probably a 3.5; enjoyable but nothing stellar. Good listen.
More Neil. Good songs, but still not my jam.
Not the most popular of their work, but still good.
Words cannot describe how good this album is.
Kinda good, kinda corny. Very mixed, so gets a 3.
The world would be a better place without this album in it.
Just so great, I loved it. Nile really gets me going.
This was the best Tom Waits album so far, which isn’t saying much.
Super weird, seems like it wouldn’t be my jam. And yet, this album is just fantastic.
Good, classic BD. Not much else to say. Great lyricist, great music, okay singer.
This album was super groovy, I thought it was fantastic.
Never been a big reggae fan, so the rating is tainted by that, but it was still pretty good.
Nothing spectacular, but still pretty good. 3 star territory.
A little dated, but still fantastic.
Absolutely fantastic. Great grooves, lyrically diverse.
I love it when an album turns out to be a banger. Really enjoyed this one.
This album was WAY better than License to Ill. Thoroughly enjoyed this one.
foo FIGHTERS
Cohen’s voice is so bizarre matched with some of these tracks. I love it, what a rollercoaster of thoughts.
The instrumental near the end was great! The rest was BORING.
Never listened to this, but very glad I did. It’s hard for me not to give this a 5, it was just that compelling.
To me it was fine. Fun to break the law, but everything else didn’t really grab my attention. No hate to JP, though, it was still good.
Nothing about this album really captured my attention, unfortunately. It wasn’t bad at all, just okay.
The first song was pretty dumb and the rest didn’t spark joy. Lower than meh for me.
This feels like an album that everyone should know about. Classic Stevie just oozing with personality. If it was condensed (which I’m sure there’s a version) then it would be a 5. But with a few songs that didn’t quite hit, bouncing it back to a 4.
Really like the vibraphone and orchestral sounds, but not for my casual listening.
A classic for a reason. Also very nostalgic to me with my father being a big fan.
Quintessential Amy, through and through. Such an incredible singer, so unique.
God I love Leonard Cohen. I’ve been giving these 4’s, but honestly I keep thinking about it so it’s probs in 5 territory at this point.
It was stereotypical reggae. Can’t say it was good or bad, it just was.
A bit ahead of its time in a way. Sounded like mid-2000s indie. I enjoyed it, it’s my jam.
I have so much respect for Beck. Very creative and unique, just grinding it out. Fun album Odelay turned out to be.
Wouldn’t say it was the best, but Bowie is gonna Bowie, and you want him to Bowie.
I have to give so much credit to this album just because it’s so unique. Not a bad listen, either, what a fun surprise.
It’s just a good, classic millennial album. Fantastic jams and overall great listen.
I really enjoyed this album. Like soft indie or something like that.
Not even Cars could save it from being baby’s first album.
It was okay. Not quite my jam, but still fine.
It was really good! I have such an appreciation for Mr. Cash now. Simple and effective.
I really enjoyed this album. It was surprisingly super funky and catchy. I would jam this again, 100%.
Surprisingly creative. I have to hand it to Madonna, that was a wild ride.
I hope I get to rally around the Bradley really soon. Great album, loved it.
It was pretty good. Reggae still doesn’t resonate with me not matter how many times it pops up on this list.
Whimsical, a little melancholy. Overall a great album.
The Who will always be close to my heart, so of course I enjoyed it.
A BOP. Even better than I was expecting. I just GET IT.
It’sssssssss okay. Iiiiiiiii don’t really care about it. But it’s notttttttt bad.
Consider me seduced.
Solid first half but not as strong second half. Still incredibly good; I mean, it’s Adele, she’s brilliant.
Gave my thoughts in Discord, but basically it was too long, too experimental, and just not good.
I’ve gained more appreciation for live albums, this being no exception. It was so energetic and fun.
Disappointed that I didn’t like it more. It just wasn’t super interesting; not bad, but not great.
Chilly, dreary, melancholy. Classic Cure, love it.
Incredibly short, which was a pleasant surprise. I love 50s rock, reminds me of taking band in high school. Good stuff.
Quite radical, honestly. Hair metal mixed with classic rock. Really good!
Damn, what a fantastic album. An experience, for sure.
It was quite good; not exactly my cup of tea, but it sure was funky throughout.
Definitely a unique band and album. Lots of respect for these folks. Not quite my vibe, but still a good time.
This is the bullshit that I like.
It was the Smiths, so at least a 4 from me. It’s that melancholy sad boy shit that I like.
Sounded SO similar to the White Stripes at the beginning and didn’t really feel like they came into their own until the last two songs. Still really good, of course.
Nothing really stood out and the singer was a little too grindy for me.
Tom could rock, straight up. Great album, especially American Girl, that’s a definite favorite of mine.
Very conflicted. It was good, but not memorable. Right in the middle of 3 and 4, but I’ll keep it closer to 3 this time.
I, uh, didn’t quite get it.
Very different! Distinctly late 90s. Quite enjoyable for sure, great way to help unwind.
I can’t help but love our resident sad boy. He’s just so poetic and angsty, speaking to my teenage heart.
Surprisingly diverse. I was really digging this album, very groovy and a little ethereal with some rockin riffs.
The music was good, but fifth graders are more lyrically complex than this was.
I like Bruce. I don’t love Bruce, but I like Bruce.
The album was so bizarre but in a very structured way. Absolutely fantastic.
Beautiful. Aretha’s voice was so POWERFUL. Fantastic throughout.
Super mixed on this album. I’m thinking 3 purely on how weird and creative it is, but also how off-putting.
Not a huge fan of the Doors still, but I liked this one more than the last Doors album.
Fantastic. Diverse, groovy, interesting, etc. Absolutely banger album.
Different than what I expected regarding what I generally think of when it comes to The Temptations, but of course it was still bangin.
Embarrassed that I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. Just solid classic rock. That last song was so fucking uncomfortable, though.
No Golden Brown, no good. It was a decent album; nothing extraordinary, but a solid listen.
Wasn’t as good as the last JA album, but still a fun romp.
The most standard, cookie cutter classic rock. Great fun; lots of sweet licks and groovy sounds.
Gets a 4 due to some staple singles, but I’m a little burnt out on Hendrix. Some of the lesser known songs are a bit jammy and melodically uninteresting which is a shame.
Pretty fun. Nothing extraordinary, but catchy and cute.
Conflicted. It was quite somber and ethereal, so a very melancholy listen. I think it’s 4 territory though as it was quite good.
It has Mardy Bum on it, so already I’m a fan. Didn’t quite hit the highs I was hoping for, but still a fun listen.
These always so difficult as I understand the talent behind it but I just don’t care for it.
I think I have to give this a 5 just from the sheer diversity and unique sounds on display. I loved it.
This album did not help during the Satanic Panic, that’s for sure. Still pretty good, sounded like Metallica in a lot of ways.
It sure was the Offspring. Enjoyable and energetic, just a fun listen.
SO LONG. But I love some drum and bass, so vibes throughout.
It was just so pleasant.
Can’t go wrong with the M’s and P’s. Solid classics.
Good stuff. Really solid songs throughout. I can see how they were a big influence, bringing something different to the table.
I enjoyed it, but who is this really for?
COWBOYS
I know that R.E.M. isn’t a goofy band, but I always associate them as such a bit. This album is definitely a departure from that persona.
My brain was only partially damaged listening to it. It was alright, serviceable enough punk.
I thought it was really good. With a name like Grant Lee Buffalo I was expecting something less appealing, but it ended up being a jam.
A classic. Glad I was able to listen to it even if it’s not quite my cup of tea.
This album is abysmal. I’m sad I’m the only one doing this right now since I have no one to complain to about this.
Was not expecting super-up Weather Channel funky jazz, but I was really digging it. It was just so groovy.
Not 100% my thing, but surprisingly enjoyable.
Deep Purple has been drowned in the Smoke on the Water image, not painting the full picture of what they truly are: metal as fuck.
Darker than the other SY albums we’ve listened to. Made for a good listen, I enjoyed it.
Quite fun, sounded like the Ramones or the Strokes.
Relaxing, cool, inspired. Just a good listen; the songs were emotionally and rhythmically diverse and was easy background music for any situation.
Great folk music. Reminded me of when I was in high school learning about this stuff during band class. Always something endearing about it.
Very pleasant and fun. Like a warm breeze.
White bread music. Completely inoffensive listening-wise.
Smashing Pumpkins deserve more praise, they’re fantastic. Diverse and expressive.
Loved it. Fantastic grouping of jazzy beats.
Weirdly relaxing, very aligned with the decade change. Enjoyable.
Loved it. Oozes with style and emotion. I give my highest of regards.
All over the place. Old Genesis vibes mixed with a more pop-oriented sound. I definitely appreciated the work here, but it didn’t fully click.
Didn’t hit. Too messy and samey.
Fantastic listen. Goes hard and unashamed.
A masterpiece. Insane talent with fantastic songs. Loved it!
Big Nick Drake stan I just can’t help it.
Definitely poignant. Not my favorite, but the commentary was good and the music was solid overall.
I appreciate this album a lot. Incredibly interesting in its diversity of sound and style. Thought it was great!
Dylan gonna Dylan. Good stuff as always. A little more groovy than other albums on this list so far, which I like.
Experimental classical is probably the best way to describe this? It was fun, but ultimately not something I would actively come back to.
Marvelous. Just fantastic jazz. Loved it. No notes.
Pure rock and soul, baby. Putting tons of emotion into the music, you can feel it throughout.
*aggressive howler monkey noises*
Really enjoyed this one! Major angsty vibes, lots of overlap with the MCR crowd.
A masterpiece; a blessing to this world.
Just a banger of an album. Bunch of classics and a cohesive package overall.
Fun album for sure. I’ve always enjoyed what I’ve listened to of Elvis Costello, so I figured it would resonate with me.
Very groovy and very diverse. Really enjoyed it, even if it isn’t my cup of tea completely.
It’s Abbey Road, there’s not much more to say. Strange, diverse, catchy; the whole package. A trip to be sure.
Classic PJ Harvey. Still don’t know my thoughts on her, it was pretty okay.
Same PJ but with a new coat of paint. I actually like this sound a little more than her 90s sound, really enjoyed this one.
Truly a masterpiece. One of the best albums ever created, oozing with style and sound.
Reminds me of groups like American Football or Pinegrove. Really liked it, though wish it was on Spotify, haha.
I like disc 2 more than disc 1. Still pretty good, though not outstanding like I would hope it would be.
An absolute delight. I love Louis’s unique voice and charisma. So charming!
Absolutely bizarre, but in the best way. Love albums like this just due to how different the sound is while still feeling like the decade they’re from.
I had no expectations and I wish I did so that they could be exceeded.
Pretty groovy, but didn’t fully capture my attention.
Still not a Bruce guy, though Born to Run is a banger.
So U2. Very cool.
I’m more interested in the history of the band than the band itself. Still very good, but didn’t have major punch.
Disappointing, honestly. Having to follow up your absolutely amazing previous album is difficult for sure, but I still expected more. Many of the sings felt hollow and passion-less, like they didn’t even want to try. Still Fleetwood, so the music is still good, but the lack of heart really showed itself to me.
Earlier Leonard with a less growly voice. Will fantastic, I’ve really grown to love LC.
Great music with an obviously STELLAR lead. Fantastic overall.
They had three of their biggest hits on one album, good for them.
Not my favorite Beatles record, but really enjoyed how experimental it was.
Almost nothing beats Johnny Cash live, he just has SO much rizz it’s insane.
Maybe I didn’t give it a fair enough shake, but I really just didn’t enjoy this album.
I like my 90s sad boys.
Incredibly conflicted on this one. Definitely enjoyed it, though not sure I would put it above dime of the other rap albums that have been on the list. I like the production on these; they have a homemade, crunchy mix to them, giving them a feel that most other genres couldn’t get away with. Obviously, the subject matter is personal as well and adds to the experience. This is probably an album that has to grow a little bit more with me.
I thought I would enjoy it more, but it was a little too contemporary for me.
More power to the people that enjoy this, but I am not one of those people.
Still Smashing Pumpkins, still good. Mellon Collie is better imo, but there are some great songs here as well.
I went in not expecting too much and came out feeling like I experienced something.
Gotta give it credit for how different it is, but I wouldn’t just casually listen to it.
Slow burner, but really picked up as the album went on. Loved the skits, great flows, sick beats. Overall great.
Certified jam, funky as hell. Really enjoyed this one, so diverse and interesting.
Major bias because my favorite song of all time is on this album. Don’t care, it’s a masterpiece.
Oozing soul. Absolutely energetic performance by Mr. Brown.
Classic indie-darling era for Coldplay. It’s good! Like softer Radiohead in a way. Not sure of people would agree to that comparison but that’s all I can think of right now.
Brazilian citypop, what an absolute delight. Fun and nostalgic. Not every song hit, but it was a good package overall.
Maybe a hot take, but this album is so boring and just doesn’t sound good. It’s not interesting and that’s incredibly disappointing.
Due to how absolutely wild this album is, I’m giving it the crown. It Is just SO interesting, so fun, an absolute joy.
Idk why, but my appreciation of Dylan has dropped a bit. Still a good album and way better than Time Out of Mind.
Classic ‘80s jams, great background music. Sets a good atmosphere, kind of eerie and angsty.
I like this album better than Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge, but it’s still not incredibly interesting.
Good actual god, what ever happened to this Kanye?
It was pretty good. The singer’s voice sounded uncomfortably strained at times and it wasn’t exactly my cup of tea overall, but still good.
Solid, funky house music. A jam to me.
I went into this with zero expectations and left feeling like I truly experienced something.
More diverse than I thought it would be. It’s classic LZ through and through, you know what you’re getting and that’s some solid jams, but songs like Black Mountain Side add a layer of complexity that help make the band so great.
Absolutely lovely and really catchy. A lot of bangers too, just solid all around.
Probably my favorite Radiohead album at this time. Sounds fantastic and dripping with emotion.
They sure as hell put on a show. More like a 3.5, but I’ll round to 4.
It was pretty good. Still had a little 70s sheen to it, but felt ahead of its time.
Not really vibing with this one. It’s okay, but just not my thing.
Chill folk music, really enjoyable. Not the best, but really pleasant.
Some of these songs do NOT work well with the singer’s voice. The rest are fine, but not my fave.
Made for a great driving album. Classic hip hop, though I wish the beats were a little more varied.
The songs were quite long, but I also didn’t hate it? I actually liked it a decent amount, a bit quirky and groovy.
Quite lovely, though two incredibly long songs is pushing it for being called an album.
It’sssssssssssss fine.
VERY surprised by the diversity in this album. I really enjoyed it and can see how they could be an influence for a lot of other bands.
Just some good AF music.
Fun and groovy album; liked!
So close to a 5, this album was so weird and funky and catchy. Not feeling a true 5, but it’s so close.
Fantastic album. I can’t give it a 5, but I give it a very high 4.
Funky as hell, such a fantastic experience. It just had such a good flow to it.
Didn’t vibe with it a ton, but overall it’s pretty solid.
Rednecks was a…surprise to be sure. The album is interesting in that it sounds really good but the subject matter is treading a fine line. Hits close to home considering I know the Good Old Boys-type folks. Just not sure what to put.
Nothing resonates with me quite like The Weight, but it was still quite pleasant.
Almost forgot to rate this one! Love Jack, so I enjoyed this.
Quintessential David Bowie. Fantastic.
Surprising good, didn’t expect it. Why is this the second album recently with a white side spouting the n-word?
Bot as fun as their first album, this one was a little more experimental. Bit bad at all, just not for me.
Not everyone’s thing I can imagine, but definitely mine. Beautiful, loved it.
Really good background music, really enjoyed listening to it.
I really just fine Neil’s voice so grating. I fee like I can’t honestly give this a 2 even if I hate his voice.
Funky as hell. Usually a little hesitant about albums with 4 songs, but really liked this one.
It was Elvis Costello 👍
You know, this was good as hell.
I need to give this one another listen, it was just a good album. Very creative and emotionally intense, a classic understandably.
Paul bringing his A-game along with the rest of the group. Lots of inventive ideas flowing here. Solid listen.
There’s something so pleasant about this album, it was so simple and cheerful.
Funky! I love this stuff, thought this one was really fun.
Very weird, but in a way I really appreciate.
Absolutely fantastic. I think I just have to give it a 5.
I love albums like this. Really sets a mood and makes for such a good listening experience.
There’s a reason she’s the Queen of Soul.
What a surprise! It was so good! This album is awesome!
I mean, does it deserve anything less?
Not offensive, maybe to a fault.
Such a wonderfully relaxing bossa nova album from the man himself. Helps that I listened to it on a dark and rainy drive.
I’ve really grown to enjoy Deep Purple far more than I thought I could. Smoke on the Water really doesn’t begin to capture what they’re about.
Fantastic; absolutely beautiful.
A little too experimental for me. Didn’t feel as cohesive as their other stuff.
This just ain’t for me, dawg.
Low tier punk-like rock. Just devoid of any life and substance.
