Reviews (page 9 of 9)
‘Meh’ to ‘very good’ songs, good harmonies... but that sound production is killing me.
Just trucks fuckin trucks. Sounds alright and some of the songs are fun but I can't see myself listening to this very often. Also sometimes sex jokes get old, which is an opinion Aerosmith apparently disagrees with.
Ugh
aumoins 4 bonnes tounes
"Water song / Janie's got a gun" isn't bad, but overall not a fan
Monkey on my back and What it takes best for me. Jumps around like a moist hare...trying to be too extreme
Nunca había escuchado este álbum entero pero si sus canciones más famosas, y la verdad es que son bastante recomendables y van las tres en fila «"Going Down" / "Love in an Elevator"», «"Monkey on My Back"» y «"Water Song" / "Janie's Got a Gun"».
I cannot believe Aerosmith gets TWO albums on this list. They’re good musicians and capable of great harmonies, but their lyrics are so stupid. I like the dulcimer stomp and the outtro to what it takes the best. This isn’t as good as toys in the attic, but it’s not a 1 star. So it’ll get a 2 from me as well.
Très entraînant. Je savais pas trop à quoi m'attendre mais j'ai bien aimé. Les vocals sont écoeurant. Hit: Hoodoo/voodoo medicine man
good, not great
Worth a revisit
Some decent music, but the lyrics are kind of juvenile and none of it really stood out to me as particularly fun to listen to.
Got some nostalgia for this one from my teen years. It wasn't quite metal enough for my tastes, but this was pre-internet, and beggars can't be choosers! Fave track - "Janie's Got a Gun" - gotta love that glass harmonica intro!
Liked a couple songs
Not a big fan of Aerosmith... A friend introduced them to me in 1991 with their Pandora's Box 3xCD compilation (featuring tracks from 1966-1982). Top track: What It Takes
So many gems in that album. Loved the re-listen. Definitely from my youth.
Typical Aerosmith. Some good hits.
Classic album- I’m only happy when it rains and stupid girl reminded me of being a preteen again. However they have a dreariness that the rest of the album drags. Not my favourite style of music unless I’m in the mood.
mt bom
Good album, possibly the last good before Aerosmith starting making songs that all sound the same (1990's). I remember listening to this as a teen and digging the sound a great deal. Good album, start to finish.
I adore Aerosmith, they are probably my favorite classic rock band. Steven Tyler is such a G. This albums got a few hits. My favorite has to be Going Down/ Love In An Elevator.
Why are they so horny?
Gewoon prima classic rock album, niks mis mee
Some of the songs were great, but others were just generic american rock.
Another prominent player in the late 80s Friday Night Videos era. Pulls off the "wall of anthem" of the Bon Jovi but with more wit and whimsy.
A few undeniable fat riffs but nothing special overall. Steven Tyler gives me the creeps and I've also never been able to look at glam rock the same since watching the Decline of Western Civilization
Yep, this is definitely 80s Aerosmith. Eesh. Love in an Elevator and Janies Got a Gun were the big hits on this record. Of all the Aerosmith records to choose for this list, this is a strange choice. This record is pretty meh. Favorite song: Love in an Elevator(?) I guess Least favorite song: F.I.N.E.
Didn't love it or hate it. Get why some people enjoy this music but it's not my taste. A bit too hyper masculine. Although the tone of tyler's voice does provide some feminine balance.
ROCK AND ROLL BAYBBEEE
good if you need a bit of rock
Lost me towards the end.
Good album. Loved Janie's Got a Gun when it came out.
Listened on shuffle. Don’t think it really mattered though, pretty much all of it sounds the same
Mediocre, the band
false
Better than expected - good record.
Great album
Dump by Aerosmith
I really don't understand genuinely liking Water Song/Janie's Got a Gun. Album's fine apart from that.
Not bad but not their best.
Awful lyrics, completely dated sound, no place on any greatest albums of all time list
This is an impressive piece of work by the standards I have for Aerosmith. It might be a memory blip, but I don't think I had heard any of these songs before; Yet almost all of them had great pop potential. The exceptions are most obviously the instrumental interludes, but I enjoyed those as exhibits of as much of a concept as the album has. The integration of American folk stylings was great, if a bit inconsistent. As always, I'm a sucker for strings. And, when it comes to glam, unapologetic sleaze.
even though "janie's got a gun" sounds like the most 1989 song ever i still enjoyed it. the voodoo song was cool too and probably my favorite on the album.
1/12 Great Rock album. Standout Tracks: F.I.N.E., Going Down / Love In An Elevator, Water Song / Jamie’s Got A Gun, My Girl
