Loved this so much. Went straight back for a second listen and a third the next day! Have heard of Paul Weller, but didn't recognise his music at all. My favourite Artist on here (so far) that I'd never listened to.
Beautiful. What an incredible voice. You Want it Darker is such a tune, love that bass line. Treaty and Reprise/ Treaty are heartbreakingly beautiful. What an album to leave the world with
Beautiful album
* Didn't listen to whole album* Bored
So good! Awesome gat. surprised I like this so much. Very Zep. Harmonica in The Wizard Bass in Evil Woman
Like the reggae/ ska through this album - Awesome brass. Not the punk sound of earlier Clash, but lyrical content still hits (e.g Guns of Brixton), though Strummer can hard to understand at times. Train in Vain is such a tuuune.
Not my thing generally...Liked Backstreets. Cool piano. Brass in the middle of Jungleland is awesome.
Misogynist lyrics made this nauseating, despite any potentially good musical qualities.
Easy 5. Favourite Beatles album. Bass in I Want You 👌
Love it. Uplifting and gentle feeling album. Strings in Eleanor Rigby Cool Sitar, can Hear a lot of FOTC inspiration.
Woah. Obviously very sick guitar, but pretty average, off lyrics. Can't really tell if they are taking the piss, but not my thing either way... Suffregate city - band hero 🎸 though
Wow. Full on industrial metal stuff - didn't listen to much.
Really nice guitar melodies, but vocal twang a bit much for me. Angel from Montgomery is a beautiful song - Into the Wild
Cool, fun album. Like the different strings and Celtic sounds. Pretty good Van Morrison cover in there - Jackie Wilson
More bluesy than expected and liked the brass...definitely not quite what I was expecting, but a bit corny haha probably won't listen to it again Blue Turk is the stand out
Incredible. Knopfler is Legend. This album is an awesome, understated journey with some absolutely beautiful songs sprinkled through. Can hear Dylan infl. Favourite gat (it's all 10/10) - In The Gallery. Wild West End is super beautiful
Not bad. A lot brass, which I liked... probably won't listen to them again
Like it. A bit indulgent with song lengths though!
Bit boring. Not a huge fan of the talky singing and don't rate the lyrics or vocals
Quite a struggle. Appreciate the drums and how they have created tension, but don't particularly find it nice to listen to
Didn't expect to like it...
Nice
Super funk 🕺
Awesome. Didn't expect such cool guitar
Really liked this surprisingly. I'm guessing pretty revolutionary for its' time? Listened with headphones so that made it a beautiful sci-fi soundscape journey.
Different and interesting, probably won't listen again though
An old fav, big feels. The sound for this show is so good.
Awesome album, so many good songs. Voice is epic
meh
Beautiful album
Tip top bluesy rock, as to be expected from such a lineup. Listened to most of the (31 track!) "album" this site sends you to and then found the original album/tracklist and listened to that, which listens sooo much better as an album.
Weird... Started off sounding like crowded house mixed with the Smiths then took an even stranger turn...
Lyrics aren't great, but the song writing is bloody good! A lot of good tracks even though there are a few that are very cringy listens
Some nice melodies, but not really my thing. Reminded me a little of Nick Cave (vocally only, and not nearly as good imo) End of the album was strongest. Dutchess was quite nice
Hmmmm bit weird. The opening track was the most interesting, then got quickly boring. I love a bit of orchestral strings, but this was all over the shop - I don't think it fit this album at all. Lyrics were definitely sub par...
Yes yes yes. love it
Not bad
pretty good, quite liked some of it (A pair of brown eyes was the highlight).
Bit bored. So repetitive. Block Rockin Beats is an old goodie though
Flamin and groovy! Groovy 70's rock, nothing bad about it. Whiskey Woman is my fav
The old swing jazz thing can be a bit cheesy, but it's still really nice to listen to
String start, not so impressed by the last 70% though...
very poppy, but very good of course. very groovy, but the lyrics got a bit tiresome. "You can't do that"... sign of the times! Any Time at all is top
Solid, couple of the big songs on there and all the others were good too... Again, spotify gives you the 'special edition' with all the bonus tracks mixed in :( don't think it listened quite as intended
Woah, how creepy is Waking the Witch...Cool album though
Love it. Mum had this album and a live DVD too ... remember this album cover vividly
A lot of love for this album. Seems to be the most highly rate AF album, though not my favourite as a whole. Rebellion and Wake Up were such influential songs for me and are still so relevant - love them just as much today. Bunch of crazily talented people.
A lot of Nostalgia listening to this album. Good stuff
Knew a couple of the songs, but don't feel like I've ever heard of this band... liked it
Mmmm it's nice.. relaxing, but all the songs sound the same and are about the same thing! Quite boring
ah yes, very good
Dub Housing? Deceiving album name... Enjoyed it mostly, but pretty abrasive vocals. *Talking Heads
Like it - pleasantly surprising that Kate Bush was such a popular artist. She is so strange and interesting. All very dramatic - Really like the strings, not so keen on that 80's guitar. I was really digging Rocket's Tail until that bloody guitar... Still a cool song. Liked the last few songs the most
Fun. Good cooking tunes 💃
Know the band and a few songs, but have never listened to an album. I teetered throughout the whole thing - Really like the music, but the vocals annoy me...
Really liked this. Amazing guitar player
Really like it. Not exactly what I was expecting and was surprised to recognise a few songs....Interesting that Wilco is not also listed as the artist? a couple of songs got a little too twang country for me. A few songs were super beautiful too.
Very cool guitar and a few groovy tunes, but slower songs were a a bit cringy Tiro ao álvaro & Ao medo de Amar highlights
Rooster and Would were big songs for me back in the day, but generally Alice in Chains have a kind of creepy vibe to me.
Love it
Loved this so much. Went straight back for a second listen and a third the next day! Have heard of Paul Weller, but didn't recognise his music at all. My favourite Artist on here (so far) that I'd never listened to.
Very bored
Yeah pretty good
Couldn't do it. First tune was funky, cool bass lines, but can't get into the lyrics/vocals. Very 90s Rn'Baay
Meandering bluesy tunes. *Riders on the storm
Love this! Never heard of this guy, but he's incredible. Not necessarily a unique voice, but his singing is amazing. Guitar is awesome and love the jazzy vibes/ blues/folk mix going on. Love the double bass and strings in some songs too. Pretty crazy mix of stuff going on, but it works and listens super nice I think.
Cool. With most of their big songs on this it was more what I expected of Black Sabbath, but all sounded a bit the same and didn't enjoy it as much as the self titled album
Liked it. Love those Tommy drums. Been caught Stealing is a classic and Classic Girl is the highlight - nice build up.
Yes very good, though... most of the highlights are from other rappers/musicians (Nicki in Monster is probably the best sounding part of this album) so still don't really get what the big whoop is about this guy?... only 50% (guessing?) of the lyrics/ stories are written by Kanye on here... and for good reason. Do not rate this guy as a lyricist at all. Some of his content is definitely good, but some is just awfully crass and bigotry.... Hell of a Life - haha What is this? *Hell of an Ego, am I right?? Anyway, it is just not executed well either way. Musically, this deserves more than a 2, but I just can't stand this guy. Makes me fucking sad that this is the most famous musician in the world (is it?). Fighting for one minority while trashing another isn't my idea of a great artist, that's for sure.
Liked the last song the best
Brilliant of course. *Zombie Dance*
Obviously 5
Like it
Pretty cool guitar, but voice a bit creepy to me... sounded a lot like Trent Dresner. Didn't listen to it all
Awesome. so many big songs on here. Trampled under foot, Kashmir, The Rover **
Really Cool. Epic opening track and was short and sweet. An eclectic mix of sounds - really liked the strings. Vocals very loud!
Didn't listen to it all and skipped a few, but surprisingly not as bad as I was expecting. Few funky soul tunes in there... Can't say I didn't enjoy Soul Machine 🕺
Cool Dude. Incredible "album" because of the context in itself, but songs obviously awesome too
Pretty bored. Didn't think I knew who this was, but it all sounded very familiar. Pretty sure Mum had this album. I remember the first song, which is pretty good. Cool voice, but otherwise, pretty bland. Songs are far too long for how uneventful they are. Kinda nice, but also pretty meh Update: gets better at the end. Love like Laughter and blood red river are stand outs. I'm confused.
Easy 70s listening. Good memories. Can't be many 90s kids whose parents didn't love the Eagles... Am I right?
Not that impressed... Too long, but A few classics on there of course. Not what I was expecting
Really like Joni's wandering, folky songwriting. Love the slightly dijointed feeling you get from the way she sings her stories. Like the different guitar tunings too. Lovely memories of Aunty Shirl singing a few of these songs
* did not listen to the whole album* Not as heavy as I was expecting. Didn't mind the music, but vocals were a bit much for me. In ignorance, I'll admit that most Heavy metal sounds the same to me and it all sounds like Metallica? 🤷 Just not as good... Hehe. Always most impressed by drummers in metal bands! Incredible.
Liked it
* Didn't listen to whole album* Bored
How many Pogues albums are gonna be in here 🙄
Not for me
Cool guitar. Couple of classic funk tunes on here
Put off by the first song and the rest after that... only got to track 5
*only listened to 2 mins
Very beautiful
Nope
Awesome. Such a flippin good band. Shangri-La is one of my all time top Kinks songs
Pretty epic. Love of my life is beautiful. You're my best friend :)
Nope nope nope. First 5 seconds hurt my ears
Not usually my kind of tunes, but surprisingly enjoyed this. Witty rhymes and lyrics that are actually interesting and I also really liked the music. Cool strings/ brass and piano up in there. Getting Diggable/ tribe called Q vibes. *who's gonna take the weight, beyond comprehension, Check the technique, as I read my S-A
Really liked Come Together and the opening track was cool too. Other than that, I wasn't too interested
Some cool melodies, but otherwise pretty meh. Gathering moss, If you don't want me to destroy you and Mario Man peaked my interest a bit. They're from Cardiff Simon!
Seen Your Video and Sixteen Blade were highlights
Really like this - Such a nice voice and an awesome guiatar player. Love all of the strings involved. The Cello (I think??) on Love and Affection is soooo so good. Down To zero, Love and Affection, Like Fire were the big highlights
Can appreciate it, but not really for me. The guitar is pretty impressive, Vocals... not my favourite. Yeah We know and The Post were highlights
Classic
Smooth Marv, Smooth. Love those bass lines. Album was unndecessarily long though, could have done with an edit ** A funky space incarnation **
Easy 5. An epic album
No thanks. Didn't listen to much
Obviously a very important album and a pioneering band. An epic album in lyrical and musical content, but any melodic genius is destroyed by Rotten's painful shrieking, which of course was part of the punk aesthetic... but I just don't like listening to it 🤷♂️ Sorry! Submission has such a good chord progression and vocals are bearable on this track.
Pretty boring, but nice Piano. Shadowboxer and Never is a Promise are nice
Music is pretty good. Then a mix of really good, bad and flatout painful to listen to lyrics. What's with this 'I'm the King/ Jesus" thing rappers seem to have?? And why are rap albums always too long? Couldn't listen to it all.
Funky grooves
Pretty boring. Creeped me out a bit. Bowie vibes, but has quite a dark feeling Unique voice, but a bit too ...screetchy. Qutie a few nice songs
No thanks, did not listen
Awesome. Would have been incredible to see live
Really Nice album. Got a bit boring in parts - I think a few songs could have been culled, but mostly really enjoyed it. Really nice guitar (except the Boing sounding one) and the Drums throughout (Those Toms in Tusk!). Their harmonies are just so good too. *Over & Over, * Storms (beautiful), Sister of the Moon, Honey Hi and of course one of my fav Fleetwood Mac songs - Tusk were my big highlights
This guy is bloody cool. I have only ever heard a few songs, but this album was super interesting. Funk/Soul/Jazzy R&B vibes. Incredible musician, though lyrics are pretty ridiculous. Them Changes is a huge track and really enjoyed the rest of the album for the most part.
Mmmm I was a massive Pearl Jam Fan in High School, so had an understanding that The Who was a good band, but just never really got into it. Never listened to this album, but know the story, which is super wierd and interesting. After the first listen...not for me. Sorry Eddie! 24 tracks! For such a long album, I don't think they needed to repeat the chorus so many times in so many songs... Really like the drama of Overture and Underture and Pinball Wizard is the standout track
Teenage Riot and Silver Rocket are such good songs and the only 2 I know on this album, but wasn't expecting the rest to be so compelling. It is noisy as expected, but also melodic. Like it. Love those surprise little outros on songs - such an adventure
** Controversial **- Not my ususal genre pick to be fair, but I think it's pretty boring. I get that they are master samplers or some such, and sure, it's quite a feat to mash together 3,500 samples of other people's musical genius to bring this album together, but I just don't think it sounds that great. So. Repetitive.
I do think chuck D is one of the better rappers out there (in my very limitted knowledge of this genre). Despite Flavour Flav's being preeetty ridiculous , Chuck's Rhymes/raps are just bloody good. Funky beats on this album and content is super political and hard-hitting as with most of their material. By The Time I get to Arizona is an absolute tune.
Do love the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, but their earlier stuff is a bit too frantic for me. Date with the Night and Maps absolute classics of course
Meh
Very 80's and quite boring. Only interesting thing about this was the album art. Night Train had a bit of a groove going, but not sure if having to listen to all the tracks before it was worth it 🤷
Is this a musical? Very wierd, but interesting. A lot of drama. Music was a little... cabaret for me at times, but also quite beautiful. A lot of big names on here...I don't really understand what's going on, but it kept me semi intrigued
Fine
Conflicted... Really liked this musically (very basic and effective guitar) and was fully enjoying until I paid attention to the lyrics a little. Not terrible, but not great (ie. Divorce song?). After looking up the lyrics though, there are definitely some pearls along the way and the context of the album certainly makes it worthy of this list. Awesome to hear some more females in this little adventure and this was a pretty brave and outspoken record for the time so big points for that. Pretty bland voice, but really cool melodies. The drums left a lot to be desired though - very hollow if heard at all and Explain to Me was proper out of time - sounded like a poorly joined loop! Tough one to rate.
Quite a range of sounds/genres on here. Really like some of it, not so keen on some too. Enjoyed it though.
Probably no in the right mind set for this one right now... but meh
Beautiful. What an incredible voice. You Want it Darker is such a tune, love that bass line. Treaty and Reprise/ Treaty are heartbreakingly beautiful. What an album to leave the world with
Didn't pay a whole lot of attention, but nothing really stood out
Was just hanging on listening to the music - interesting/ genre mixing. Started to pay attention to some lyrics. Not impressed
Fine
Incredible voice. Enjoyed it mostly. Pretty obscure
Fine
Easy listen, very cool Guitar and Bass Set the House Ablaze was the stand out for me
Enjoyed it, but probably won't listen again.
Did not listen, very heavy
Gotta love Neil on the Harmonica. His vocals are particularly abrasive on some of these tracks though. Not my favourite NY Album. *Lookout Joe & Come on Baby let go Downtown
A nice Album. Jesus Etc. is an old fav - Beautiful song
no thanks
fine
Liked it- very phychedelic 60's. Impressive guitar. The Castle is an epic tune, as well as Revelation. Also Liked the first track a lot - Stephanie Knows Who *She Comes in Colours
Banger after banger. A Day in The Life is 1 of my Tippy Toppy Beatles songs
Love this Album. What a journey. Walk On is the perfect starter and so many gems in here (Rev Blues, For the Turnstiles, Vampire Blues, On The Beach). As an album though, it's pretty bloody close to perfection. Those strings on Ambulance Blues! So beautiful and a great finisher to an incredible album.
Very Average. Only listened to a few songs
Very noisy and can't really hear anything that he is saying, but I enjoyed it. Big Stooges vibes. In a Hole is a standout
A stunner. Loved every second. Absolutely beautiful
Literally listened to 30 seconds. No thanks
Super Fun with some absolute classics on here. It's short and sweet too. Top 2 tracks for me are Strichnine and Have Love Will Travel = Guy Richie - Rock N Rolla.
I do remember listening to this album and a few songs in particular in the past, but it's not the sort of thing I would usually listen to. Really enjoyed the journey this time around though. Needs a certain mood I think, as with most music I suppose. Weird "spacey" kind of vibes, as expected. Very impessive production. Strangers was my standout despite the obvious big hitters on here. Though lots of interesting tracks with cool little interludes and different instruments coming in. It's a Fire and Roads are both lovely.
Repetitive. Karmacoma is a throwback though
I don't really get New Order, sorry... I understand Joy Division was a pioneering band, but it feels to me like New Order then kept doing the same thing for 3 decades. It's just 80's synth pop with some cool beats = fine, but I'm not into it.
nope
Definitely thought (and hoped) this would be more rowdy. Voice is incredible though. I don't Mind is the highlight for me. Too much screaming.
Tooka second listen to appreciate this. Her voice is really cool and lyrics are really interesting too. Wasn't particularly taken by the music at first, but it grew on me and does goes through a few different waves throughout the album. Highlight is definitely Guilty. Working Class Hero is so suspenseful and intense too.
Pretty boring. Didn't dislike it as much as I thought I would though. Gave up about track 10
What a beautiful guitar player with a stunning voice.
Middle of the road Reggae. Enjoyed it.
Ugh, it's all so dramatic. Not really for me - couldn't get through quite a few of the songs in full Adam Raised a Cane, Streets of Fire and the Title track were all cool and saved The Boss from a 2 star rating from me
What a hoot. Thoroughly enjoyed this jazzy number
A few classics on here (Pardon Me the big Stand out) and I like the album as a whole, but some songs are a bit filler-ish/ I don't really like. It's no Morning View, that's for sure, but they are on their way. Incredible Band.
Only listened to first track
A beautiful Album - One of my faves
Best samples I have heard in Hip Hop, rapping and lyrical content is excellent and Unique album concept - A love letter to Rhythm and it's damn sweet 💓
Music sounded interesting, but hard to focus on with the grating vocals taking over. It's wierd, and not in a good way for me
Creepy vibes
Not what I was expecting, liked it, v good
It's a classic and every track is a standout quite frankly
Love it
Not a Nick Cave album that I have listened to fully before now - I really wanted to love this... but only liked it. I think it probably needs another few listens. The piano throughout is beautiful and the build up to strings towards the end create a cool musical narrative to the album. Into My Arms is the stunner, of course. Really enjoyed the Bass in Far From Me.
