I assumed that they were a one hit wonder band and that this would be fairly meh...but I was wrong! This is a gloriously daft and superbly unself conscious album . They throw in all the metal tropes and make it work . you can feel the genuine love and affection for the music, style and genre and it is great.
I have loved Billy Bragg since hearing Life a Riot with Spy vs Spy. I can fully understand that his voice might not be everyone's cup of tea but his lyrics tell suck great stories with a wonderful imagery and a hint of whimsy..."How can you lie there and think of England, When you don't even know who's in the team" ...sublime!!
I liked it. Would listen again. Didn't sound as 60's as I thought it would

Enjoyed this. Not sure how I missed it first time but reminded me very much of the time. Counting crows and G n R in there in places
Good. Nice version of my generation
Brilliant. Absolute classic
It's Amy
Not changed my mind about the Beatles. Liked the Ringo song best.
Wish I knew this at the time
I liked it but due to all the pastiche pisstakes of the 60's hippie s singing about fairies and trolls it is a little hard to take seriously today
loving this. Bonkers and I can see why it is in the Top 1001 album's
I liked it. Would listen again. Didn't sound as 60's as I thought it would
ok. Unlikely to listen again
interesting dance album. Sounds almost 80' in places. Will need another listen i think
Who have i never heard these before. Proper punk! Would love to see them live . Bit of a Jam vide in there as well.
That's a nope from me
Ok. Not something I would normally listen to. I think a a quiet boozy pub would fit this well
Nostalgia trip. Reminded me of being 40
Couple of good songs and she has a lovely voice but not one to go on regular play for me.
Great album. Always forget how mellow and melodic it is.
Not by bag
I liked it. Lots of classics on this one
Classic
Needs another listen
Ok. Nice voice. Glad I listened to it but probably wont go looking for more
Inoffensive. Not sure why it is 1001 best albums. Ok but MOR background music for me
Heavier and more metal than I thought. Really liked it. Will listen again
its certainly not disco bee gees! Inoffensive but fairly dull.
l Like it. Might actually make me give Dylan more of a chance
Like it

Sounds like a poor impression of Bowie
Needs more listening

I like it. Random blues world music vibe
ok. would listen to it again.
its the 80's but in a melancholic way
Love this. Not sure it should work but it does and gets better with age
Really like this. Part Cult, Alarm, Prefab, Hot house all together. My 80' in a nutshell - simpler times and music.
didnt relise it was this album. i like it alot
definition of bubble gum pop. Didnt realise that wrote 'are lips are sealed with FB3
surprisingly good , punky and shouty. will listen to more of their stuff
I like this a lot. Definitely getting more into the Jazz vibe as I get older..
got bored
nothing specil. nice bit of fret wanking but thats about it
Classic tracks sung by a great singer. What's not to like
not working for me.
very chilled. On my favourite list
Its ok. I think I was too old for this to have the desired impact when it came out. Musically very good but doesn't grab me like original punk did.
Love this. Took me back to a simpler time when both my hair and weed were plentiful!! Definitely be returning to this again.
Nice 50's vibe. Will listen again
Nothing special ok as background
nice enough. not one to go back to
not available on Spotify?
takes me back to my youth. Will give it another listen
ok R and b with a jazz influence.
it was fine
One of my all time favourite albums
ok
i might not like his politics but this is still a good album
intresting. worth a re listen
Some classics on this. Took me back. Definitely going to get more listens
Good album just a shame he is a bit of a cunt
intresting mad shit going on here. Can see why its a must listen
Ok. Some nice tunes on there
Love the Smiths
its ok. not a massive Beatles fan and this didn't change my mind
lie this a lot and will certainly revisit
I like this. Not a classic but interesting and showed that Bowie still had something to say
ok some good tunes
some classics on there. Glad i listened to this.
I liked this. It has an obvious 60's vibe but also some of it sounds very contemporary and some interesting use of mixing and cutting. glad i listened to this.
it was ok. not my bag particularly.
Its Blur
ok but not very memorable
nice album
sounds like Neil Hannon which is not a bad thing
ok
only listened to a bit. Nice enough
some great tunes on here that is didn't know came from Jungle bros. will do more investigating
cant beat a bit of Rod
Still stands up as a great album
great album. Can really hear the bowie influences but still stands up.
Really liked this. Interesting and melodic and thoughtful and thought provoking. I will listen again and seek out more
love it. No idea what they are singing but love Spanish/South American music
suitable odd
like this alot v ambient
it is what it is. nice enough but not by bag especially
very chill. worth another listen
ok.
Classic.
Couple of good tunes but still not having the love for the Beatles
liked this. intresting mix of sounds
love it
it is what it is. growls...melody...growls...melody...repeat
Sounded like a 60s movie montage soundtrack. Ok but wont be back.
great tunes. takes me back
Lovely bit of piano jazz
it was good to hear some old tracks again
like it
it the ramones
No idea what to expect but this is awesome. so many great tunes. Will be listening to this again many times.
not sure what this is but i like it. Rock, avante guard, shoutness with plinky plunky bits.
ok but not really top of my list
like it more funky and weird than expected.
ok
remembered the hits but many i had never heard. Ok but not a classib
like this a lot all sorted of different genres and sounds coming out here.
nothing special
I liked it. It was a good 80's reminder
Ok but a bit more 'operaish' than i had expected. i am sure it would be better having seen the film but none of the songs seems to be given the space to get going.
ok. didnt rock my world
pretty cool
they had a vey unique sound that conjures up dark and brooding places but without the gloom of the goths
Pleasant bit of Country
great album
better tunes than I thought there would be. Very evocative of the 80's
interesting album and he has a unique voice.
its ok. i would call it one of the best 1001.
ok
love this. Have heard bits bit never the whole thing. definitely on my play again list
i can see why it is on the list but its not huge for me
didn't expect to like this but was pleasantly surprised. more varied than expected and much less maudlin. Will listen again
better than expected
its Bjork
Liked this more than i expected to.
some cracking tunes on there but not enough to keep me coming back for more
loving the Jazz
Standard 80's experimentalist indie music. ok but not anything i would bother listening to again although fair play for having a song about fishcakes!
Great album . wonderful mix of update jangly melodies with down bet images
It sounds like the happy seventies of flares and top of the pops
Love this album. best version of 'Viva las Vegas' out there!
not my favourite but good .
ok folksy type of thing. Pleasant
not bad. a few good tunes
some classic tracks on there . Nice enough
ok
like this blue grassy sound. worth another listen
Good classic tunes
got some funky tunes but nothing that would bring me back to it
ok not one i would bother with again.
unable to listen on spotify
some classic tunes on there but not likely to bother going back to it
lots of great tunes. never rated Elton as I grew up in the MOR/Cocaine era Elton but have come to apricate his earlier work a lot more in recent years
Noisy and shouty and throaty, generally in a good way but it's not really something I am going to go back to in the future
ok. fairly generic country po. not really my bag.
you can see the Weller was enjoying the freedom to do what he wanted. Bit all over the place but some great tracks on here
Good album. lots of different influences and styles. Worth another listen
I liked this. it was for more punk than i would have imagined and more melodic. I will certainly listen again and look for more of their stuff
Classic Metal. coming to it so late it does suffer from sounding slightly cliched but only because it was one of the Metal templates.
Fun album. Full of some classic 60's tracks.
ok. nice tunes but nothing ground breaking
Great Album. Every listen gives a different result and the variety to genres is fascinating. Truly a band exploring their influences and not afraid to move and change what they are doing.
Nice enough
some interesting noises. Basically sounds like a manifesto from a sex obsessed 12 year old virgin telling the world how awesome he is a sex and that everyone should be as awesome as he is and that all da bitches love him and how great his thingy is.
ok. its elbow
great album. so much going on and took me back to my youth
sound like a poor mans Beastie boys
This is and always will be a classic
Love Elvis and this has some classics on it
like it. no idea what it is on about but its cool.
note getting why this is here although I acknowledge I am unlikely to be who this is aimed at.
lovely album with many different layers. Reminds me of a different time in my life
love a bit of Cuban music. No idea what they are singing about but always uplifting
ok. Not likely to bother finding anything else by them. Most interesting part of the album was finding the Jackass theme origin.
Great album
some good covers on here. Good album i would likely listen to again
ok pleasant listen but not memorable
Nailed on classic. Whether it is listening in a smoked filled teenage bedroom, coming down from the nights festivities or at the passing of a friend, this album will always be a fundamental part of my sound track of life.
proper old school rock. I liked it and will likely listen again
Typical 80's affair. Great voice. reminded me of glass and shiny surfaces in generic nightclubs called Ritzys or Champs.
some good tunes
Definitely an album of two halves. First half some good soul funk vibes. second half some batshit crazy experimental guitar jazz/blues fusion. Not sure what its all about but I like it!!
Interesting. Some generic fuzzbox level pop punk but also some more interesting tunes
This is a better album than I remember. each listen provides a different experience and feeling.
Never heard this album before. Obviously the title track is a classic but the rest holds up and really is rock n roll/metal/punk combined. can here some many links to other tunes and band. fantastic
I assumed that they were a one hit wonder band and that this would be fairly meh...but I was wrong! This is a gloriously daft and superbly unself conscious album . They throw in all the metal tropes and make it work . you can feel the genuine love and affection for the music, style and genre and it is great.
An underrated classic album. So much going on and Foxtons bass is epic. You can see how far they have progressed from their early days and Wellers word play is fantastic.
ok. I can see why it is here but it is just another rock and Roll album now.
ok. to me its another grunge album that's fairly similar to alot that were around at that time.
one of those albums where you know all the tunes but had no idea that who made them. Lovely.
This was a surprising revelation. Confounded my preconceived ideas of what Iron maiden albums are. You can hear the various influences in hear everything from pub rock, prog, punk and thrash to name but a few. Have already given it a relisten
not doing it for me
Loved this before i got this album. So many good and diverse tracks.
I got bored with this to be honest. cool cover art but it just went on a bit for my liking and didn't really go any where and no stand out tunes.
This is a great album. lovely Mediterranean /South American/ambient vibe.
its marvin.
gave this another listen and still like it . intresting music and good to listen to in the back ground
there are some nice tunes on here but the Kinks always sound a little bit fey to me. Maybe its the production levels not giving them the same sort of heft as the Who.
good to here some 80's tunes. They had some good music and i am allowed to like the now I am not a 15 boy in the 80's
some nice songs but again not going to search this out again
Love a bit of Belle and Sebastian. Uniquely twee but in a good way. Not my favorite of theirs but will need a few more listens to really appreciate it
Beautiful voice. I've never really listened to Nick Cave before but I feel that this is going to change right now.
some good tunes but not on my to to list
ok. not sure why this is in the list but its of a time when life was simpler and more jangly
its OK and very distinctly Bruce
ok. nice enough but nothing very memorable
I wanted to hate this...but it was actually quite good and I can see why it is on the list. Kanye came across as an amusing guy and the tunes were interesting but there is the artist vs art argument agian which is tricky ( my very next album was MJ's Thriller so some interesting morale quandaries this week ...
There are some absolute classics on here plus some filler. very conflicting album in an art vs artist way
ok. some nice tunes
typically british fare. quirky , funny, odd and always reminds me of Father Ted so cant be bad.
I had no idea what this was going to be and was pleasantly surprised. Loud, fast and fuck you but not so shouty as to be annoying. i will be looking out more of their stuff for sure.
Its ok. fairly standard hair rock
never heard this before but I like it a lot . This is its own thing and is simply lovely
This is great. Blues, hammond, geetar...whats not to like
ok 60's tunes
Love this. Great jive and dancehall tunes form the 50's
a fabulous album.
Its ok. Took me back to the 80's. Some good tunes on there and all in all good fun
interesting collection of tunes on here. Loads of tunes i recognized that I didn't realise were him.
ok when i managed to find it on youtube
this is certainly eclectic. awesome tunes and goes in different directions. Love it
not my bag. It just inst interesting to me and i would rather listen to the original tunes used as the backing tracks rather than these versions.
only recently got into CAN. i like this a lot and it has some interesting twists and turns.
60's tunes. ok. nothing special
great album
never heard of this before but instant 5 for me. i'm not sure what this is but i love it!!
great bit of 80's pop.
ok but not really my bag
i liked this but not one that i would revisit
Live album. Appears to be a recording of a Jazz showcase which is ok but has no real flow to it.
ok. more new wave than i was expecting
ok. nothing ground breaking that i can hear
ok. Got some classic tracks on it.
this is an album to listen to before you die. Numan was treading his own path long ago and all the better for it.
well that was interesting. Some nice musicianship and some raucous noise. i wouldn't listen for pleasure but it is good as background work music
love the Doors
thought i might like this. I was wrong.
like it. lots of crazy jazz, psychedelia and rock/metal. definite sounds of sabbath in one of the songs
interesting to listen to and i can see why it had such an impact as it was very much not a rock or pop album but the time they have a'changed and it didn't impact me that much.
Forgot how good this was. I felt he was treated as a bit of a joke at the time with the bit hats and denise van outen etc but by god are there some great tunes on here.
like this. i will be looking for more of his work
nice voice and god old country and western.
I haven't really listened to her before. Nice bit of tunage. will listen to more to get a better feel for her.
I confused them with Maroon 5 who they most definitely are not. i like this a lot and will look out for more of their stuff
classic
its ok standard metal fair nothing special for me
Interesting blend of various genres.
interesting in that it feels like to different albums . one frothy pop soul and one dirty funk soul. Couple of classic tracks.
great guitar playing and some Rod vibes.
I can see why this made the list as it has a proto punk, rockabilly vibe about it that belies the date it was made.
love the ethereal otherworldly sounds. no idea what it is about but it sounds fabulous.
good but short
i like it . happy music. no idea what its about but it makes you smile.
I love Sister of mercy. Takes me back to my goth phase. I really like this album and it still sounds fresh but my very favorite is First and Last and Always. i can still remember the first time i heard it and being blown away by the whole vibe
liked this more than I expected. Sounds like a number of 60's groups combined.
standard 70's fare.
great voice and subject matter took me by surprise and very funny. will need a few relistens
Wasn't sure if this was a p*sstake or not. There was some funk and some ok tunes
great album
liked this.
interesting but not something i will go back to.
got a couple of songs in and noped out. Bland r and B smooth crap using 400 notes when 1 would do. Pants
standard 60's music. no idea why this is on the list
ok. some nice dance tracks but nothing ground breaking for me.
ok. some good tunes but not ground breaking
nice bit of twangy geetar
better than i remember it at the time. prefer old school punk but this is ok.
love Lloyd Cole
it was an ok live album. some niche geetar twanging
nice bit of jazz piano. pretty intense in places.
not as blown away by this as I was hoping. It was ok but nothing special.
ok.
great Christmas album but all a bit creepy having Spector talking at the end knowing what a Grade A ars*hole he was to everyone.
wasn't really into them in the day but I do like this album. probably listen to it again sometime
Love this. Bongos and Hammond organs playing classic track!
its Stevie wonder.
Interesting mix of styles on this album. definite re listen material
like this alot
more bluesy than i expected but i still prefer the Quartet!
good punk album
some nice tunes
Unavailable
they have their own sound. liked this.
some classic tunes on here obviously and I can see why it was so ground breaking at the time but it doesn't really do the job for me.
nice enough
ok but not massively my bag
nice enough MOR album. Very easy listening
love this album
ok
Like this. punk and plaintive
nice enough
Not heard this before. Nice bit of shoe gazing
Not as James Brown as I was expecting
Cool. Can see the influence on early rock and roll and some classic tunes
Trying hard but cliched
not my favorite album
cant believe i missed this! I can see where the DNA of so much original punk came from in this album.
Full shoe gazing . love suicide
Much more melodic than I expected
more on a pop vibe than i thought it would be . i liked it
nice enough bit of country tho she is no Dolly
great disco but the ubiquitousness of the hits detracts from the other tunes making them seem like filler
love this..takes me right back to my clubbing days
I do like a bit of Eric but this is ok not ground breaking...although it probably was at the time...
stone cold classic
Definitely of its time. Some cracking tunes but probably miss the boat on this one.
this sounds more modern than i was expecting for a 50 odd year old album. will listen again.
I have loved Billy Bragg since hearing Life a Riot with Spy vs Spy. I can fully understand that his voice might not be everyone's cup of tea but his lyrics tell suck great stories with a wonderful imagery and a hint of whimsy..."How can you lie there and think of England, When you don't even know who's in the team" ...sublime!!
i liked this , lots of different vibes
Wish i had heard this first time round but thought that they were some sort of novelty boy band ( thanks The Sun) This is a lot more wider ranging musically than i every realised.
really like this. No idea what they are singing about but lovely sounds
Absolute classic. Came out when I was a teenager and it was such move on from Unforgettable Fire and just took you away to the heat and sweat of America. Listening again I still hear so many new things I have missed before. Love it.
like this. I thought it would be depressing but actually it had much more going on than expected.
Another classic album. Still sounds as good to me today as it did when i first bought. Blends so many different interesting sounds and Ian Brown could actually hold a tune. I have no idea how this has aged for new listeners, as for me it is still as fresh and new as the day it was released and listening to it I feel like the teenager I was at the time. Forever 5 stars!
was ok. some nice tunes but nothing to bring me back to it
Liked the banter and can see why this had had the impact it did at the time
the classics of course but I also liked the weird and random interludes and additions..I cant imaging what they might have been on at the time. proves that they were a proper band and not just a TV one.
this is a classic but almost too classic in that you know you have heard the tunes so many times they almost become cliches of themselves. Still a great rock, blues album
Being an original punk fan I always found the 'new punk' a bit generic/copycat but I did genuinely enjoy this album
liked this much more than I expected to. Some good tunes on here
nice to hear stuff that isn't the normal classics. Surprising amount of 'storytelling' tracks which was interesting.
some good tunes. This passed me by at the time and will need more listens to get a full feel for it.
Not heard of these before. I liked it. Jangly 90's poppiness
never heard of these before but love this. I have started to delve into the back catalogue to see what else is in there .
not what i thought they would sound like. a bit jangly and inoffensive
better than expected. More bluesy than I thought
great tunes tho some are a little on the iffy side...
music to work to
love the cramps just so fuzzy and dirty.
not really listened to these before but i liked it and will check out more
some classic tunes
prog rock..nuff said
Country and Western
so many good tracks on this and takes me back to the 90's. I never had this at the time but it was everywhere. Needs more listens as the non hit tracks are very interesting and Jarvis is certainly not holding back in his lyrics.
reminds me of the 90's
didnt listen as unavailabe
full blown prog rock pomp
great lot of noise with a sense of humour
I like this a lot. Getting Lou Reed vibes tho less dark, Germanic sleaze and more sunny, desert vibes.
Nice enough RnB but not ground breaking for me.
Not really my thing but its ok. best bits are the samples and bits of old songs they nicked. all a bit misogynistic, gangsta and all about the cash which is very much not my vibe. sort of thing that 'cool' wanna be gansta's would make/listen to.
liked this much more than expected, even played it again. good mix of music and particularly likes the cabaretesque songs.
straight back to the nineties. Love her voice and the spirt of the tunes
not a metaller but again Maiden have made a great album.
ok. sounds like it wants to be lots of other better bands but never quite gets there.
I know this is a classic and I should love it, and I am sure it blew peoples minds at the time but for me it has a couple of good tunes on and some others which are interesting but its not going to the top of my list I am afraid.
leans very heavily on a Frank Zappa vibe at the start ( in fact I thought it was a Frank sample first go round), which is not necessarily a bad thing. I like that it weaves about across genres and style and I will certainly be looking out more of his work.
For an album called new Wave I was expecting something new, exciting, edgy but this was just dull and forgettable. No idea why this is on this list?
ok but not that special
Lovely album
beautiful voice. Very 90's vibe. I liked it.
its ok. Not sure it would be hear if it wasn't Lennon.
not what is expected. a more country album than I thought it would be. Needs another listen
As a punk fan I am aware of the influence of Siouxie and her influence on Goth and I like the album well enough but not gonna change my life
Love this
Beautiful voice and some stone cold classics on hear. Not a go to album but I would happily listen again.
loving Zepplin more as I get older. You can really hear the blues influences in this one. Love it
ok. some good songs. But never been a Beatles fan and this has done nothing to change that.
I do like a good gutsy female vocalist and this fits the bill. I will be looking for more of her stuff
It was ok but doesn't hit as I imagine it did when it was first released. I don't dislike it but I am not gonna rush to listen again.
Not really my thing but the drums and guitar work are amazing . I had no idea that they were from Brazil but now the album makes a lot more sense. I will listen again
Fairly generic metal. not interesting
its ok. some nice tunes
This is a classic album to me. Sound tracked my youth and my adventures in 'gardening'. Tosh was and is a legend and this album captures him perfectly.
Now this is what I call Shoegazing.....
liked it. will listen to more
some lovely versions of classics
Definitely a grower. I was aware of Depeche Mode at the time but thought they were all a bit light weight and poppy , based of early tunes. Listening to this I can see how dark some of the lyrics were and in light of things I now know about the band I am seeing them in a new light. Very good and needs more listening
it was all a bit twee and weirdy beardy. Probably be ok when stoned
cant beat a bit of ZZ
I was always a Jam fan. I liked Style Council but I wasn't a fan of the solo stuff when it came out. But it was always there in the background and coming back to it after all these years the nostalgia and the memories associated with this album just move it into the 5 star category for me.
its ok. I liked helter skelter
just not hitting the mark. sounding weird for the sake of being weird.
ok. some nice tunes
I wasn't expecting to like this at all but actually found it really good and multi layered. I had no idea that daydreaming was one of his which was a surprise. Definitely look into the back catalogue
Like this a lot. nicely bonkers
ok. not as interesting as their debut
Its all a bit unnecessary!! There is some tuneage in there but in the words of Otis Lee Crenshaw ' a Jazz band is just the sound of a blues band being pushed down a set of stairs"
some great tunes on here
ok but not very special.
nice enough. a bit of C and W and general crooning
liked it. noisy and distorted and dirty
prog rock
ok . Not sure what I was expecting but it was ok
nice enough album. Not sure why is in the list but I am sure it broke some ground somewhere
held off reviewing this as I thought Nick Drake was Mr depressive ... but this was ok and no where near as depressing as I though it might be. I owe Mr Drake an apology and will give this another go soon.
this was better than i expected
Great 70's funk
some good tunes. some 'interesting' banter from the band. Get the feeling it was better there than on the record
liked it. less jarring and more melodic than I was expecting
Short and to the point. Classic track in my perfect cousin.
i liked this. sounds like radiohead in places!
nice bit of geetar twanging
ok MOR tunes
I like the White Stripes. bit past the time when they would have had a huge impact on me but i can see why they are on the list
nice bit of old school jazz. Will come back to this again
Ok. Couple of classic tunes but is just nice background music to me not an earth shattering album.
really like this one
Great album. It combined sleaze, humour , bass and good times into one glorious swirling funk of an album. My soundtrack.
Missed this first time round. It a good album but I feel like it would need to be on heavy rotation to embed it in my world.
nice enough
a couple of bangers on here. Love his voice.
Not what I was expecting at all. Cool mellow tunes that have some bite. The sort of laid back music that got bastardised by every shallow advertising exec and slapped onto every fecking advert to show how 'cool' there brand is...I'm looking at you M and S!!!!
good
not what i was expecting at all but it was good noise
I like this. very nice voice and reminded me of the time in the 90's when we had some really interesting female vocalists around...before the x factor 16 octaves per note warble became standard
some classic tunes and others that I had never heard before. Ok
Glam, bowieesque, 70's...it got it all.
beautiful and interesting voice. i love how the songs tell a story
I loved so many of the songs on here but I had no idea that they were all done by these guys.
Forgot how much I love her voice. I will revisit the back catalogue
more interesting than some of the albums from that time
some good tunes
Absolute bangers on here. Love Street life but had no idea who did it!
ROCKTASTIC is the only way to describe this. The genesis of many a rock n roll cliché
interesting album. I can see where some ambient music was certainly influenced by this. will need another listen
the definition of Easy Listening. Nice but forgettable
Better than I expected. Apparently this Madonna lady can sing a bit
I am sure this was very deep and meaningful at the time, especially if you were stoned out of your box, but it just sounds a bit cliché and the lyrics sound rather creepy sex pesty
better and less 60's ish' than expected
Not a Beatles fan but this had some of the good tunes on here. I was surprised to find Yellow submarine on this as I had always assumed that was on Sgt. Pepper...
ok. a bit europop. mot really sure why its on the list as it seems fairly generic.
interesting and unusual. I like this one
its not Nevermind but it still has some epic tracks on it
Not heard this one before. Will listen again
I cant believe I have never heard of this band. This is Ace!
ok. melodic but there were moments when the voice went from interesting to whiney,,,
now this is what I call unnerving...interesting album. I'm not sure I like it but it is interesting
Short, sharp and pogoable - just what you want from a punk album
some banger & some filler but its ABBA so its al good.
sound more modern than I expected. Also I had assumed they were Americans (no idea why) but the live work shows they are very much British.
nice album.
liked this. no idea what it is about but sounds good
its ZZ Top. Its Got Legs and it knows who to use them!
Listened to the whole album and barley noticed it. I do like his voice but this was a nothing album to me
God tunes and beautiful voice
Good. Brings to mind smoky rooms and bouncy beats.
good tunes. some i recognised but had no idea were by these guys
Psycho Killer is a classic. I like the album as a whole.
not at all what i was expecting. So sort of mid 80's soft porn sound track album
This is a weird album. I would not have guessed this was the Police if i didn't already know
all a bit hurdy gurdy and oh nonny neigh for me!
good bluesy album
I am sure it is a legendary album for those that know but for me it didn't hit the mark. Fabulous fretwankery and spoken word singing but not for me
Never got into PJ Harvey for some reason but I really liked this. I will be investigating further
absolute classic. Dark, dirty, grungy underbelly of New York laid bare. Not people I would want to hang out with but great tunes
Classic album. Takes me back to a previous life.
Great tunes on here.
Nice voice. Untaxing listen. perfect background music for pottering around
alright
Nice lift music. Can here the influence of / homage to her fathers work
cool album
it was ok. not sure it adds to the list.
Cant beat a bit of smooth jazz samba
I went out of my way to not get into these at the time...no idea why as i love the music and the lyrics are the right amount of punchy and funny
Great album. I remember her as the floaty weirdo that girls like but this is a triumph
ok. I assumed it would be some 50's band but not so much. Fairly straight forward Rock n roll.
No idea what was going on there. Not totally unpleasant but not something I will be going back to on a regular basis!
Short ,sharp, punk new wave songs
ok
got the signature new Order sound. Bernard is still getting to grips with being a vocalist by the sounds of some of the tracks
some good tunes
dictionary definition of MOR
cool album. No idea what it is about but love the tunes
ok
Great Album
I really like this. great collection of ballads and Nick cave and Kylie is great
Never heard of this album or the band but I love it. Definitely a sound of its time and I can hear references and cross overs to other bands of the ears. Now digging into the back catalogue
some good tunes. better than i thought
I liked it. For some reason I thought the Isley Brothers were some form of 50 doo-wop / 60's folk group but that is very much not the case. Loving the funk vibe
Good album. Nightclubbing is a classic
Nice enough album
Now appropriate that Slade were more than Noddy and Christmas. some good tunes.
Its 70's prog. Its ok but not likely to be remembered by me tomorrow.
Nice 80's warbling. I used to listen to these to go to sleep at night.
Irish folks songs with a punk twist, whats not to like
listened to it. cant remember anything about it.
Good album. I can see why Janis is held in such high esteem.
Absolute stone cold classic. I love everything about this and the fact that you can almost feel the sweat in the dark, sleazy bar whilst the Manzareks keyboard cuts through with a jaunty vibe. I would have loved to see them live just once!
not the album I expected. Heavy shirley bassey Bond vibes , but in a good way. Warrants more listens
Some classic tunes and sounds
Takes me back to when Robbie was the cool kid who had escaped the 'straight' Take That to go and cane it with the Gallaghers. Little did we know where this would go or what the truth was!! Despite what he became there are some Bona fide classics on here and some that just take me back to a simpler time when i had more hair, more money and less responsibilities!!
The only bit i remember is the Musical youth riff in one of the song. Nice tunes but I'm not going in for another listen any time soon
great
good old US of A rock n roll. Some good tunes on here .
its got some good stuff on it but I cant say it had a profound impact on me
Its late era Bowie. It sounds like Bowie doing Bowie. for me he is an artist that to really understand his impact you kind of had to be there at the time.
Nice bit of Panamanian music
Who knew we needed covers of classics on a sitar? Interesting as an oddity but not gonna come back for more
like this. very funky. will be looking at more of their stuff
good old rock n roll from the US of A. Actually not bad
no sure why its on here. its average. I don't like their version of State of Grace - Not over yet
nice tunes.
dad rock. A rich famous musician making music for himself which happens to get released.
its country and western. nice enough
I was expecting more from a band called Meat puppets. All pretty bland and forgettable
alright. hair rock.
I like Tracey's voice and the 90's
I love 70's punk but the buzzcocks always passed me by a bit, with the exception of their hits and this did nothing to change that
good loud , grungy, dancey noise
its some classic rock.
Brilliant album. Its as if I am hearing this for the first time although I know I have listened to it before. It is warm, cool, funky, sleazy, smacky all in one.
turns out I knew more ELO than I thought I did.
80's new wave sound. Like it
never really got into the Stranglers but ok
more eclectic and random than expected. I knew he was into rap back in the day. I was like listening to the radio in Grand theft Auto
ok Not really my bag but it had a couple of nice tunes and if I managed to tune in better to what was being said I think it had an interesting story.
its ok
another not really sure why album
So I have always been adamant that i hate Coldplay. They are so middle class and nice and Chris Martin is just such a gangly, golden retriever of a man that he annoys me even whilst seeming like an actual nice bloke. I always said it would be great to play bass for Coldplay as you would be minted and no-one would know who you are. If people told me they liked Coldplay they went into the "ah you are one of those beige types" category. That said, and I stand by all of the above .... I quite liked this album and will likely listen to it again....although i am not sure I am prepared to admit that yet outside of here....
nice funk
its Stevie. Some classics
I like this
Reminds me of the 90's. I was never big into Elastica but i remember the tunes
I had forgotten about this album as it kind of slipped out after Pop. it has some beautiful songs on it that seem to cross the divide between rock n roll U2 and Pop U2. It still stands up for me.
Love this. Very true to its time . Loads of influences in here or perhaps these were the influences for others (my musical history is not that great for this period.
I was aware of Supergrass at the time but didnt really give them a listen, kind of assumed they were a one trick pony. Turns out I was wrong! I really like this album and can see why its on the list.
I rememeber buying this at the time as it was such a
ok 60's tumes
Jingly Jangly 60's pop. Nice enough
I can see why it is on the list. Without giving it more of a listen and understanding what it is about more fully I am not sure how to score it as it is either horrific , offensive, rape filled , misogyny or it is a satire on rap and focuses on men's mental health issues....
Its Lou Reed doing his thing. He does not seem to be a happy go lucky type of guy and it shows in his music
nice
Its Country and Western. No idea why its on the list...makes a change from British indie perhaps?
No idea what this is about or why it is on the list but I liked it
Confusing. I liked the music but the lyrics are dumb and offensive and junior school level. Also the man is a massive bellend.
not a fan of the Beatles but i can see why this is so highly rated..except Maxwells silver hammer which is shit.
some classic tunes
Again some nice tunes
some corkers on here
bluesey, rock, 70's americana.
this was awesome and the reason for carrying on with this project. Something I hadn't heard before and interesting enough to make me want to find more for the artist
Jingly jangly 60s pop. nice enough
An intresting album but a shitty person. 4 for the album but knock of a couple for being a twat
It was ok
Nice bit of soul
Nice bit of rhythm and blues
forgetable
Country and Western. I think it might be good but it reminded me of Otis Lee Crenshaw so I couldn't take it seriously
what was availabe was very nice
its ok. its a bit hurdy gurdy and i am sure it makes more sense with a large spliff but nice enough
