Dog Man Star by Suede

I will always remember the exact moment i first saw Suede. 93 Brit awards. I was 14. Absolutely blew my mind (and my hormones!). People forget how much they 'blew the bloody doors' off and were a breath of fresh air. Love them. Love this album.

Shaft by Isaac Hayes

only brilliant. Loved it

Haven't listened to this since college. People tend to be dismissive of the Pistols but this reminded me that they were actually quite good and Glen Matlock was only brilliant. Songs are great. Holds up.

Five Leaves Left by Nick Drake

just wonderful. brought me back to a time and a place. wonderful texture (from youtube? really?). they don't make them like this anymore

Great album. Great musicianship. Love it. Where has this been all my life?

Time Out Of Mind by Bob Dylan
Oct 01 2021

I'm sorry. I can't. I really tried. Never took to Bob Dylan. Had never heard of this album so gave it a few listens. Not a fan.

Tonight's The Night by Neil Young
Oct 05 2021

Knew the title track but was first listen of the album. Gave it 10 or so listens. Neil Young was apparently "... disappointed that it didn't sell as well as Harvest..." holy fekin' moly - what a pile of crap. How did his vocal make the final cut? First track was good and set an atmosphere and Track 3 was a good ole rockin' tune but jayzis mother of the proverbial - some of it sounded like a whiskey soaked 3am lockin down the Docks. Keep on Rockin' in the Free World? No, Neil, don't. I know i keep harping on about it but Harvest was a polished work of art accomplishment with brilliant musicians (but then again, i don't think i ever listened to Harvest sober (or indeed CSNY)... 🤔)

Dear Science by TV On The Radio
Oct 06 2021

Never listened to TV On The Radio that i know of before. Enjoyed the album. Music was good. Had it on loop all day but don't think any of the songs will really stay with me. Don't think it'd be a 'favourite'.

Great memories from Summer 94 when we played this CD over and over sitting in the sunshine in County Kerry. Shame they didn't do more. I remember it was so refreshing to have good dancy music after all the SAW purportedly dance shite of the late 80s. Enjoyed immensely

Daydream Nation by Sonic Youth

Never really got into Sonic Youth when i was a *ahem* youth... (i'll get my coat :-) ) Gave them a really good go this time - wanted to give them a chance. yeah, didn't love it. I can see they're great musicians but the whole thing feels, well, 'grunge' and underproduced and woolly. meh!

Never heard of this album or, indeed, the band before. I loved it. Track 2 especially (which is now permanently on my MP3 player). Absolutely phenomenal musicians - top class. am currently investigating if they still gig - i'd say when they play live, they'd bring the house down.

Strange Brew is a work of art but let's be honest, there are some seriously rushed / dashed off tracks on this...
