1001 Albums Summary

Loving everything about this album. Obviously Latin heavy but still blending multiple genres like jazz, samba, blues, cumbia, salsa. There's even a few surf rock sounding songs at the end which I wasn't expecting. The vocals are so soothing. Just a wonderful amalgamation of music & people. 5/5 for me. So happy I discovered this album. This is why I keep coming back to this 1001 albums list. Amazing surprises like this.

Hov's 2nd best album after reasonable doubt. So many classic songs on here. Rhyming, production, flows, cultural significance. Heart of the City, Song Cry, Never Change top 3 songs. Feel like people's reviews on here are so quick to diminish anything that isn't some 1970s british band. Recent albums I've gotten like this or Buena Vista Social Club (Cuban multigenre) have had unnecessary low ratings. I can't always relate to what the Stones are singing about in the 1960s but I appreciate the music and it takes me to a moment in time. Just because you didnt grow up where Jay did doesn't mean you cant relate to Hip Hop music. Open your mind

Pleasantly surprised by this album. Enjoyed the vocals, lyrics, and production. It almost felt like I was listening to a musical with the lyrics being so vivid and the production by grandiose at times. I dont think I would have found my way to this album without the 1001 albums generator so its albums like this that keep me coming back. Great listen.

These are the kind of albums I come to the generator for. Don't know how I would've made my way to Ministry otherwise. Really enjoyed this type of metal as a non metal listener. Some bangers forsure

I love Jamie XX so much i dont know why i have never given the xx a shot. But I really like this album. IDK why i was sleeping on them as a band.

Albums like this get me coming back to this generator. Feel like I need to see the movie now. Really interesting mix of sounds throughout but also felt distinctly Indian at the same time. Great Listen

Hate to support kanye given his recent antics. But he is iconic and legendary for a reason. I remember when this came out in college and not liking it at all. Wanted the old soulful sounds and this was so abrasive. And I hadn't really gotten into electronic music myself. But years later I keep coming back to this album (pre most recent antics). He delivers some of his best verses over some hard beats. And there are still snippets of the soul sounds throughout the record. Love Yeezus the album hate kanye the person

A love supreme, a love supreme, a love supreme. I think I still resonate with Alice Coltrane's music more but I can see why this is an all time classic. Shit bangs

Had already saved a few of his songs from sundtracks. Specifically oceans 11. Very trippy, cinematic sound. I did enjoy this album as a background work album but didnt feel necessarily groundbreaking. Few standout tracks like Radio 7 and dont die just yet but overall probably a 3. I really enjoyed the mini interviews and samples from NYC people. Im a sucker for NY shit.

what more can I say. classic album. will queue it up for a relisten on my train ride this morning but I know its 5/5. I also feel the extra need to boost up the scores on the hip hop albums on this page because people are haters. Legendary album by legendary group

I thought I knew about PLAY but i didnt really know about PLAY. Other than a few tracks hadnt really given it a listen throw. But is just full of so many bangers across different genres. Downtempo, souful electronic, good ole techno, breakbeats. Really fire album. I think I usually discredit other genres when the albums are too long and just have filler but the length on this makes me like it even more. So much good music throughout the album

Angry. Raw. Real. Still Relevant. Some truth bombs on here that still hit 30+ years later. Realistically closer to a 4 for me overall in the hip hop lexicon but giving it a 5 to outweigh the haters. Its also crazy that it was a good day was sandwiched in the middle of this album. Makes the song stand out even more. A moment of bliss amidst the turmoil. Already knew that was the meaning in the song itself but in the context of the whole album even more powerful.

I know coldplay is a meme and gets hate but this first album is really nice. Great production and chris martins voice is so soothing. Feels like im floating. 4 stars

I was not familiar with your game allman bros. This was a great listen. Had some long drwan out groovey jams. Little more bluesy than a dead record (at least to me). Saved a handful of tracks from this album. Going to be coming back to this forsure

Love the live shows and they have a few songs that reach really great highs for me. But this is pretty middle of the pack for me overall. Solid 3

Qtip is a sneaky mount rushmore candidate for me in that his Tribe work is some of my favorite shit of all time. But never really resonated with his solo work. There are a couple trcks on here I like but overall doesnt move me. 3 stars

usually skip this album when doing my radiohead listening but llike the earlier grungier sound. 3.5 but rounding up for discography bonus points

Six blade knife is an all timers. I know sultans is in a lot of shit but six blade is better. I picked this vinyl up mainly because of six blade but the whole thing is a grove.

bennie and the jets alone might carry the 4 for this album but some good tunes and almost felt like a musical/play with some of the numbers. in a good way
