Heard this described as swamp rock Very consistently good songs, can’t believe they did fortunate sons and I didn’t know it No idea what lyrics were about, but enjoyed the listen

I like the folky ABBA vibe California Dreamin best 3/4****

Accidentally looped the first song for 20 minutes and didn’t mind it haha, so you could say I didn’t mind the funky vibe Solid 4**** Have no idea what the lyrics are about but they sound happy

Generally really liked this album, but I really don’t like the whole “let me talk over music and build a story for ONE ENTIRE MINUTE”, before the rap starts I’ll have to give this 4**** because it’s much more enjoyable and smart lyrically than other albums

Between 2/3*. As title of album suggests a lot of the songs are about love, with lots of Christian lyrics thrown in there. Guitar+man singing with some sax/drums in there too. The lyrics got very descriptive and out there sometimes. I do think Christian rock is slept on a bit, I just wasn’t feeling these as much, but the quality of the production means it’s not lower than a 2

A lot of these songs feel like it’s just a dude singing and messing about and then it gets serious. Very children story like songs I noticed that the first songs gets resampled in the song “checkmate” by Apathy Wouldn’t really listen to the entire album again, but worth a listen

Very varied songs, starts of as jazzy but then some rap songs in there which is interesting. At various points the album was 2**/3***, nothing was particularly something that blew me away

Interesting lyrics about overcoming poverty and issues with police etc, but finding the love in the middle of it criticises society/system without sounding overly pissed off at it not the biggest vocal range, songs sounded quite same-y, but was a good listen. quite slow pace for songs, you want to listen to the lyrics of the songs

Really liked “the bones of you” Other songs are quite solemn, but I get alt-j vibes from them, which is nice. Can see listening to these in the car if I’m tired Weird guitar solos “The fix” is a weird song

Could be a coincidence, but felt super happy as soon as these songs came on. Much vibes. The songs blend into each other very well, so worth listening to it in order. So far I don't really have a favorite.

Very good electric album, I hate when electric songs have shit chat over the top of them, but this felt more refined No songs stood out to me, as is usually the case with electric, between 3/4* Some long songs as well

Was an ok listen, didn’t really think much of it. Songs were definitely different from usual, but I really don’t like the “silly male British singer” vibe. For example “driving me backwards”, it’s almost deliberately shit singing Best was “here come the jets”

Favourite song is “express yourself”, then fuck the police (which I like to listen to as I drive my electric car to my nice software engineering job, having no opps/issues with police) Ice cube has the best lyrics. Fun to sometimes look up the individual rappers, like yella, and check out their best songs Iconic album, and the movie is also worth watching

Listened to all 2h50 of this stuff. Very average and as Yam said, very self indulgent The song lyrics aren’t always upbeat and the male singer doesn’t have range and is bad This was just not a good one, even as far as indie songs go. My least favourite was “love is like jazz”

Excellent shit. Very rare to have music where you can vibe along to the lyrics but also vibe along to the music very hard. Good blues-esque music. Her vocals are very good, obviously. You can also listen to individual instruments like the drum and the piano and they all add something individual to the music rather than just blurring into the background. It’s a bit cheeky. She can sing about racial and political issues but not sound ‘preachy’ which is quite cool. 4/5 star

I don't like this album. "I dont wanna be a soldier mama" is a particular one that I dont like because the lyrics are just the same all the way through, and I prefer songs to have better lyrics than that tbh. Imagine is fine, but that's about it. 2/3***

First Indian album that I heard on 1001 albums. Definitely interesting and reminds us that western music isn’t the only thing out there. I love the drumming on the songs. Also interesting that there’s explanations in the album. It’s more of a tutorial than anything
