I listened to the whole record with such ease as I was doing other things on my laptop but found myself constantly going back to replay some songs from the start as I really enjoyed them. The guitar playing from Jimi is incredible. Brilliant album!
4/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This rating is purely based off the comparison between other music from this era. While it's not typically the type of music I listen to, I can definitely appreciate its unique qualities. One thing that stood out to me was how ahead of its time it sounded compared to other music from 1957. Although I haven't listened to much music from that era, the instrumentation and production of the music seemed refined and polished. The song structure also appeared quite advanced for 1957, although that's just an assumption.
Didn't enjoy it at all but I can appreciate that its a great piece of music
PJ Harvey's "Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea" is a refreshing dive into a world where city lights and ocean waves collide. Released in 2000, this album sees Harvey stepping away from her earlier raw sound to embrace something smoother yet still packed with emotion. From the get-go, "Big Exit" grabs your attention with its energetic guitars and Harvey’s powerful voice. Tracks like "Good Fortune" are catchy and full of life, capturing the thrill of love and chance with lyrics that stick with you. The album takes you on a journey, moving from the reflective vibe of "You Said Something" to the haunting simplicity of "Horses in My Dreams." A standout moment is her duet with Radiohead’s Thom Yorke on "This Mess We're In," where their voices blend beautifully to create a sense of longing. Harvey's storytelling is top-notch, making each song feel personal yet relatable. "Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea" is a brilliant showcase of PJ Harvey's knack for capturing the highs and lows of life in a way that feels both timeless and real. 10/10
Pretty good for a live concert, but i'm not a massive fan of The Who so I didn't really enjoy it that much. I can certainly respect it tho!
Outkast's "Stankonia" (2000) is a study in contrasts. The album opens strongly with innovative hits like "Ms. Jackson" and "B.O.B.," showcasing the duo's genre-bending prowess. However, the 24-track length proves excessive, with quality diminishing post-opening sequence. Key issues include: 1. Inconsistent track quality 2. Disruptive, often pointless interludes 3. Front-loaded structure leaving latter half less engaging While "Stankonia" contains some of Outkast's most enjoyable work, it suffers from pacing problems and filler content. The result is an imbalanced album that, despite its highs, fails to maintain engagement throughout. In sum, "Stankonia" offers brilliant moments amidst structural shortcomings, earning it a middling 3/5 stars.
Not my kind of music but I can certainly appreciate that it was a very good record for the time and still holds merit today. The melodies are kinda catchy and it was reasonably enjoyable to listen to. Album run-time was perfect too.
I can tell that the music itself is objectively very good, but it just doesn't do anything for me. 2.5/5 ⭐️
Who doesn't love The Boss? Great album!!
Had never heard any songs from that Beatles album. Really good! 4/5 ⭐️
I wouldn't doubt that it's objectively good Country music and songwriting, but this album just doesn't do it for me. Let's just say I'd be annoyed if someone gave me this album for my birthday, but if I was really drunk and someone put this on I wouldn't walk out the room. 3/5 ⭐️
Who doesn't enjoy a bit of Bob Marley? It's such great, happy-feel-good kind of music! Probably not the sort of album I would play a lot, but it's really fun to give it a spin every now and then. The production on the record sounds incredible and the music itself still holds up today. It's a genuine classic!
I like bongos, but not that much 2/5 ⭐️
Definitely not my taste in music. In all fairness, that was a pretty tough album to get through, However, I was instantly hooked to California Stars (track 2). The riff and melody in that song is so infectious and addictive. Unfortunately, that's the one and only highlight on the album. 1/5 ⭐️
Yeah nah. No thanks
Brilliant album, have listened to this one heaps. Love Beck!!
one of the most boring albums i've ever listened to in my life
Green is the first R.E.M. album i've actually listened to in full before and I'm quite surprised with how much I enjoyed it. I wasn't in a great headspace when I decided to listen to the album (I kinda just wanted to put on my favourites playlist and revisit Green another day). However, straight out the gate I found myself unable to walk away. And yeah, I agree, it's not a perfect and isn't even the best R.E.M. record, but overall it's an engaging and enjoyable album that's worth a listen. (★ ★ ★ ★) ✅ 79~70 ● Good // would recommend
I actually quite enjoyed it, but not rushing back to play it again
The King of Pop. That's it. That's the whole review. 5/5 ⭐️
Iconic! A genuine classic album, not just in hip-hop, but in music history. 5/5 ⭐️
album did nothing for me, but it was bearable
decent album, nothing special
The raw, intense and gritty sounds of early 1970's Punk meets the bright and catchy Pop-influenced melodies of the times. A brilliant debut record from the UK Punk rockers!
doesn't really offer much in terms of excitement. It's quite plain and boring if I'm totally honest. Not my go-to! 2/5 ⭐️
objectively good music, i'm a big fan of Elton, and I really like a few of the tracks on this album, but I got bored and lost interest about halfway through. I think i've realised I can listen to a couple songs of his here and there, but a full length LP is pushing it. Not my kind of music.
That was such a cool conceptual live album. I don't like country music at all, but because Johnny was constantly engaging and interacting with the crowd, it felt more like I was listening to a western movie rather than a country album.
One of the best post-punk/indie pop records going around!
Ambitious record from the Bee Gees and i think this sound works well for them when compared to their disco sound, but it just doesn't do anything for me unfortunately. 2/5 ⭐️
Yeaahhh, nah. Next!
didn’t enjoy it anywhere near as much as Doolittle. none of the tracks stood out upon first listen
okay, nothing special
the best MTV unplugged set
A couple of classic tunes to top of a great album
Didn't really appeal to me much but i can respect it for what it is
I can't stand Neil Young's voice
Not sure how I felt about that one. It was okay but very 'background' type music. I should go watch the film now
I fkn love this album! It's a classic 70's rock album. Been a while since i've listened to it, so that was a nice trip down memory lane. How good is music!!
never really liked bob dylan. doesn't do anything for me
That was my introduction into Joni Mitchell. I actually didn't mind the album but I probably won't be rushing to play it again anytime soon. Incredible voice, just not my taste at all
I actually got bored of that pretty quickly
this is garage rock at it's finest. one of my fav live albums
How good is punk rock!! That was an incredible album. Iggy Pop is at the peak of his game here. If you haven't listened to this album before then you're missing out, it's that simple! There's something about punk that I just love. The in-your face, upbeat energy, the distorted and guitar riffs and the unconventional vocal delivery mixed with the raw and confrontational lyrical content create a listening experience that in my opinion is simply unmatched in any other genre. Brilliant stuff!
A decent album but doesn't really do much for me. The instrumentation is pretty cool but the vocal style and lyrical content is pretty boring
My rating will likely increase to 4 stars over time, but currently I'm not quite sure how I feel about it. This was my introduction into Spacemen 3 and their music. I don't know if this album is a typical sound and style for them but most of the songs are far too drawn out with not much actually happening on them. On the tracks that do have a typical song structure, the instrumentation and music itself sound great. The fuzzy, distorted guitar work and prominent riffs create the sort of sound that is right up my alley.

I'm so surprised at how much I actually enjoyed this album. A couple months ago I listened to Talking Heads' critically acclaimed album 'Remain in Light' for the first time and didn't enjoy it at all. However, this album is probably a touch less experimental/prog-rock and therefor a little more accessible for me. That's not to say that I only listen to really accessible music, because I don't, but full on prog-rock/math rock/art rock just isn't my go to and just doesn't sound good sonically to me. 4/5 ⭐
one of the most boring albums i've ever listened to
I've never really liked Muse, but I will admit this is a great album
It's not that often that I listen to much classic pop music, but when I do, I honestly don't mind it. I quite like a few of Prince's songs however his music just doesn't click with me. I forgot why, but last time I listened to a Prince album, there was something about it that just put me off his music for quite a while. Well enough time had passed since then, so it was definitely time for me to give Prince, and his music, another chance! Now I'd never actually listened to this Prince album in full before, and truth be told I actually really enjoyed a few songs and certain moments on this record. However, the one glaring problem I have with it is the lengthy runtime. The 11 song tracklist looks perfect on the surface, until you realise that the total runtime is 1 hour and 10 minutes. That's an average track length of 6.4 minutes, which would be fine if the songs were just a little more engaging and didn't drag out as much as they did (especially towards the ends of the songs when the track basically just turns into a Prince monologue of him telling me how badly he wants to do explicit things to me). Aaahhhhh.... that's what it was that put me off his music! 😂😂
I absolutely loved Raw Power by Iggy and The Stooges, so I had high hopes going into this record... and my God were they met! How f***in' good is punk rock!! 🤘😝🤘
This took me by surprise with how good it was
A classic album that was moulded from the mind of Kurt Cobain. How could it not be this good?
First time listening to Robbie's debut album, and it actually took me by surprise from the very start. I was not expecting the opening track (Lazy Days) to incorporate the jangly guitar work that encapsulated Britpop in the 90's. The first few tracks do their best to maintain the vibe that the opening created, but the musical composition eventually shifts into a more pop orientated style in the second half of the album. Life Thru a Lens peaks at track 4 with, what is likely to be one of Robbie's biggest hits of his career, 'Angels'. The next song on the album 'South of the Border' is relatively similar in sound to the albums opener with some more upbeat, jangly, britpop-esque, guitar work that really drives the the track along. It's at this point (track 6, 'Old Before I Die') where the album begins to lose me. The slower and more pop-orientated sound from Robbie's previous work with the 1990 Manchester boyband, Take That, really starts to ramp up. The album then finishes with a slow and, honestly, a pretty forgettable piano ballad which then fades out to a solid 10+ minutes of literally nothing, just silence. In the final minute or so of the 14 minute long song, we are farewelled with a spoken-word poem, which I actually kinda liked. (★ ★ 1⁄2) 🤷♂️ 59-50 • Okay // has flaws // unsure
Cracking album, but I did enjoy Guero more
a childhood classic
my favourite Led Zeppelin album ever
not my go to everyday sort of music, but an undeniable classic that shaped pop music and influenced countless bands and artists.
few good moments but the back-end of the album really lost my attention
