The Gilded Palace Of Sin
The Flying Burrito BrothersI fancy some country-folk stuff but these burritos are far too fatty for my taste. Just boring and I can't figure out why this album is on list 1001 list.

Compared to my basic idea of Beatles this is a fine piece. Much better and much bigger arrangements that I expected also including totally surprising stuff like Oh! Darling. Much more edge and balls majority of Beatles stuff like classic tunes like Here Comes The Sun.
Solid stuff without unnecessary twists.
Ei meinaan ropissut juuri yhtään. Lajissaan varma klasari, mutta se laji ei ole minun laji.
I assumed I would fancy this but not. Plain boring.
Fucking awesome!
Just a click or two more to reach 4 starts,, quite a runner-up. I just wonder why this band hasn't ever fallen to my playlists earlier.
Wonderful signing style! I fancy more of his later work when his sound has got more age. Boring to give only 3 stars
Immediately when I saw the album cover, I thought this would be my first 5-star review. But no. Although this album contains a few of my Sabbath favourites, the album as a whole doesn't reach the highest peak of these reviews. Uneven album, contrary to my memories, surprisingly stale sounds. Still shining 4 stars.
I did listen while writing. I'm not sure did I hear anything. That describes this experience.
I just can't get a grip of this stuff.
This album floats on waves that don't rock my boat. Most important word is ok. This is ok and particularly end part of album. First part of album starters yawn me so much that I started cleaning the house.
I hear old funk vibes. I hear really high production quality and sound that must was copied a lot. I also hear utmost boring gangsta rap. Who's dig is longest and who has Desert Eagle. Rather difficult to imagine more boring lyrics. Two stars goes to how old funk is respected and modified carrying that flame forward.
There isn't many things in music world that would make me feel more irritated and uncomfortable than Xmas songs. I just can't handle those. Sixteens sound and style makes Xmas songs tolerable but only that. One star.
For quite awhile I was trying to figure out who's singing style comes to my mind about bands vocalist. On the last tracks Chrissie Hynde's name finally popped into my mind. Kudos to that. Otherwise Fever to tell doesn't make create big emotions and same time it has good vibes through whole album. Nicely raw sound and vibes.
Simple, airy, gotta like. Apparently I have some kind of soft spot for this kind of folk stuff. More power to singing harmonies and this 4 stars would have been reality. Now only 3.
This is perfect reminder why I don't like Michael Jackson. Majority 2/3 of time I felt bored, wondering his weird speaking style, wondering why this record is so popular. One third is pure groove attack and it isn't difficult to figure out is it first, middle on last three songs. Pure gold and drumming from other world. For the classics I would give 5 but first and last part will reduce this to three. And Xtra star goes away for hideous duet discussions with Macca.
I have never intentionally listened Joy Division. Some songs I have heard and overall sound is familiar. Sparse start and gaining speed towards end and getting me more and more hooked but without final crescendo.
I assumed that I would have liked industrial sound more. Not. I assumed this album would have been greater joy for me. Nope. Is this album good? Yes but after two full album listening I know there won't be third.
This was much better than I expected. Sound is almost too clinical to my taste but surprise factor cover that. Otherwise there isn't much to say. Album rolled smoothly and than it ended, this as a positive thing.
First shock was the sounds of the album during few starting tracks. Second shock was that this tracks stay rather similar. Third shock was a notice that I quite like this. I's cool to hear albums that are kinda starting point for so many familiar tracks. Solid three stars
So recognizable anthem and the rest of the album goes with copy-paste production method. Simple is good but I listening this album makes me question the value of this album. Nope.
If someone would tomorrow ask me something about this album... I would be rather troubled. I listened it without any memory created.
This was heavy. After amusement it has just heavy and showed how little one can understand.
I'm not sure would it bee even possible to give anything else than 5 starts. Pure gold!
This one is good but lacks some balls. Everything is in right places but album as whole does not rise to the same heights as its few star moments. I would have liked to give more starts but just can't.
This album stated and after 10 tracks it was over without really noticing. Yes, I was doing other things in the same time but still this didn't catch my attention basically at all.
Some albums are whispering to you, some speaks to you. This one roars to me. Album full of great songs and Roadhouse Blues is a killer start. Quuen of the Highway lifts the end part of the album to where this belongs. This album belongs to constellation of five stars.
I really cant review this album with objective mind. First time during this project personal feelings are so crappy that it affects this a lot. This album would have needed a better mood to concentrate into it. I recognize the talent on this but cant help.
Solid gold, Geddy Lee makes my day every time!
Quite a debut album and I recognize why it's on this list.
Totally fine album but doesn't leave much to remember.
I thought that maybe this album will gather more of something when getting to closer to it's end. I was than listening second to last track. I gotta admit that I was rather focused on my writing tasks while listening to this album and distraction played significant role on this occasion.
I didn't know what to expect and honestly didn't get much.
I fancy voice of Elvis, even this one. Issue with this album is that it didn't throw enough hooks ti water to catch me. Again, like with so many albums lately, it started, gave few good vibes and ended.
Quite a disappointment, simply that.
Iconic album that's not quite my taste
While listening Lick Summer Love one can hear the origins of vocal style on Guns N Roses. This doesn't provide more credibility than 3 stars.
Quite blaah, lukewarm.
Never liked Beatles and most likely never will.
Post-punk classic? I think this was just bad.
I read the description of the album before starting to listen and almost vomited. Semi-concept album, dear lord.... Majority of albums during this listening exercise hasn't raised a need for second listening to give an opinion but this one did. After first run I didn't know was this good or awesome. After second run I know this wasn't 5 star awesome level and after third run I don't know do I have any reason to give this anything less than 4 stars. There is something freaking intriguing that I cant exactly point what it is.
Few ups, some downs, mostly somewhere at low fourths. Doesn't give much.
There is a book called 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die. It says that this album still sounds unique. It also says this album can be a master piece or full off well-made nonsense. I strongly lean on later option. To me this is certified garbage.
I fancy some country-folk stuff but these burritos are far too fatty for my taste. Just boring and I can't figure out why this album is on list 1001 list.
This album is roots for so much and just pure gold.
From one perspective there isn't much on this album. And in the same time this fascinating album that hit some nice vibe moment in me.
Plenty of ups: cool arrangement, signing harmonies etc. Partly tool folly.
This album digs itself to essence of coolness. So cool that it got boring during third track. Despite its technical excellence I cant give more than 3 stars
There's just something fascinating on Bowie's style and also this album proves it. Almost every song sound somehow familiar throughout I haven't listened this album before. Sign of repetition or good song? This doesn't reach Bowie's highest level but such a great album.
Boring
Stylish well produced stuff. I just happened to hate almost every second of this listening exercise.
U2 has always been non-appealing to me. Plenty of cool tracks but something doesn't click to me. War defines this quite well, almost perfectly.
Concept albums and soundtracks are close relatives from my point of view. And both are difficult to judge. This album falls to silo of better ones on soundtrack scene and momentarely I forgot the point that I was listening a soundtrack. I haven't seen the movie and this gives some distance idea of soundtrack.
Sounds and feels like 80s in all possible non-appealing ways. Before this I haven't liked Aerosmith and this experience didn't give new perspective. Mostly bored and that feeling started already on second track.
Nope, just no.
If I listen funk I would like it sweaty and edgy. 1999, and whole production from Prince, doesn't fit this approach. This is just too clean, almost sterile. Anyone can appreciate amazing skills of Prince as superb multi-instrumentalist and as a artist doing his stuff only on his own way. This demands 3 starts throughout I don't like this album.
Sounds, bad. Style, annoying. Total listening experience, also bad.
My preconceived notion was that this album would be quite pop and I don't remember liking it. That wasn't the case. I liked it quite a bit!
Just solid without any surprises but would except those from this kind of album
I like singing harmonies but that's all
Same time ok for it's genre and time but kinda makes me giggle
Man is great and his sound is great, but album isn't. After fifth song it felt absolut repeat of itself.
Again one one these albums I don't know what to think about. Style+, singer + and -, sounds old and flat -, mood +. Tough to rate.
One friend said yesterday that he wants to like reggae but no success. I fit to same category. All cool but infact too cool and slow.
I'm sucker for voice of Brett Anderson and string arrangement, I admit.
Uuh... One of rare albums that I couldn't listen through.
Some songs more pop than I assumed. As positive/neutral comment would be that somehow lukewarm album.
Feels like repeat. At release time of this album I would have given more starts but now this just feels like same old same old.
Such a welcome surprise on this listening exercise. Also really cool album but it contain one major flaw from my point of view. While reaching sixth track I was rather sure that I would already mentally be on last tracks. Album doesn't evolve or kinda go anywhere. And sounds bother me also as s representation of time.
