10/10, better than Wild God
It was good but i don't think it's as influential on me as the other albums provided
It was a very good album. Especially Venus in Furs and The Black Angel's Death Song were really good.
After Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin, Nina Simone and Abby Lincoln, Sarah Vaughan does take her place for my top singers. It's a shame i didn't find her until now.
Was really good. Its like George Duke.
It isn't that old but sounds like it is from the 1920s, i think it was due to Spotify's lack of quality, overall i can definitely see its influence but aside from 2-3 songs i can't see myself giving it a listen
What can anyone say? A masterpiece
Would rather the piano of ryuichi...
I was shocked to see how similar Kiwanuka's voice was to Porter, album was just amazing too

Beautiful voice, funky mood, nothing else to say, one of the most easygoing and joyful albums
Insane guitar. Amazing sounds. One of the best albums i've listened to. Flabbergasted i haven't discovered this before.
It was indeed an incredible bongo band. Never seen bongo get used this well. Kinda gets boring towards the end of album tho
Overall wasn't that influential on me...
There are some really good songs but i can't like the album overall, experimental vocals are not this group's strong point in my opinion, another reason i didnt like Wild God too
Long ass album, 40 songs jesus christ. Not 2pac-nas level but damn was impressive
Amazing album. Feels like i'm going to an unknown family cabin to be murdered in a cool slasher
Album starts off weak to me. I hate bubblegum/dreamy pop, and as much as this is a rock album, it is more pop to my ears and liking. I thought this was nothing special, but i'd have still preffered it over whatever the music they're blasting off in beach clubs nowadays. Then the end of the album hit, the melancholy of Dying, the hope of Dear God (And the kid sings really well!) and the overall vibe of The Man Who Sailed Around His Soul. Maybe it isn't the greatest album i've ever listened, but it definitely earned its way into top 10 easily with the last songs.
Amazing synths, i have no idea what the "blue-eyed soul" or a "sophisti-pop" is, but if it's this, i'm interested.
This album does not completely exist in Digital space, but i loved the songs i was able to find so much so i bought a CD for insanely cheap. This is ricky martin, 2pac, latin folk/rock fusion backed up by the occasional rap(more like hop-hiphop) addition. An absolute banger.
I usually listened to September by Earth, Wind & Fire, this one is definitively not as good as that but still has the vibes. I don't think there was a memorable song for me though.
Calm, cozy, original. People compare Low Roar to Sigur Ros a lot, i still think Low Roar is the obvious choice in my playlists, but this also had the same originality.
In my opinion this is one of the mid albums of the Queen
Did not like this at all. Does nothing new, very boring album overall
Chill, thoughtful album, i liked it very much. It's as if Bob Dylan had an actually good voice and chill songs with toned down topics
Didn't like the vocal that much
If i could give it a 2.5 i'd give it, but i'm more skewing towards a 3. It was definitely funky, but something was missing throughout the lines
Don't get me wrong, it is definitely great, and a good way to get introduced to Indian music and its styles. However it's just that compared to other Indian music i've listened to so far, this was by far the most repetitive one.
Better than the other Fatboy Slim album/
Obviously it wasnt up my alley as its probably one of the most American country album with a Texas/Alama mix of an accent, but hearing rag noise throughout the album as piano melodies really gives this an original vibe
Its definitely not my style, although 1-2 bangers can be found in the soundtrack
Beats are too repetitive and the flow is too monophonic for my liking, but the fact that Nas is one of the greatest of all time remains
Not my thing. Understandable that it's one of the most influential, as it heavily influenced shoegaze and indie pop, but for me not only this album is extremely raw, the songs it heavily influenced are the ones i particularly don't like.
Not as strong as other Aretha Franklin albums in my opinion, but still a gem
Why does every Marvin Gaye album has atleast one song with a woman moaning in it?
Honestly good album but apart from Money Money Money and Why Did It Have To Be Me? it feels a bit short for me
The Old Man's Back Again is a great song, can't say the same for the album. At least now i know baroque pop exists and it's NOT for me
How is this so damn funky
Greatest stuff after Ozomatli
Slightly weaker than other Marvin Gaye albums, but still really good.
Le Premier Bonheur du Jour SLAPS HARD
Le Premier Bonheur du Jour SLAPS HARD
Every song has an amazingly experimental start, a very delicate & exquisite finish, and a very, very mediocre middle.
I think all the best songs of Nirvana is in this one
Mother of the Seven Nation Army, Cold, Cold Night and Hypnotize. Amazing album
I think this is one of the interesting groups. It's essentially Beatles without the empirical exploration of Beatles, however what makes it very interesting is the small hints of very experimental insertions into music. The ones i specifically loved are the alien noises at CTA - 102's end, the very Carpenter/Horror-esque start of Everybody's Been Burned (Could easily be a Silent Hill entrance) and the overall eeriness/ambient noise of Mind Gardens, which also gives a hint of Asian music as well. The progressivity of this album exceeds my expectations as this is an album from '67. A five.
It's very experimental, very eery, and its effects in modern music is clearly visible, but it isn't an album i would pick to listen specifically
Very meaningless lyrics, but very noisy songs, me likey
Very good album, albeit compared to After Hours and some others, i felt like it feels a bit short, thus the 4.
The music is amazing, the vocals haunt my dreams
It is a great album, although imo not the best of Foo Fighters, it starts off too weak and ends with some absolute bangers
Look the rest of the album is really fine, but Hong Kong Bar and Make It Right are just songs on a VERY different level.
I think this easily enters the top 10 most enjoyable albums in this entire lineup up 1001 albums
It's really not my thing. Respect for the album though.
Great modal album, maybe one of the best after Kind of Blue, however it requires a very specific mood, one alike to the Nighthawks painting, but absolutely insufferable on an upbeat mood
"Sat In Your Lap" definitely gave me some Sinnerman piano vibes, which was my favorite throughout the album with "The Dreaming" itself. Overall a very fun album. Upon some research, i've also found out that she produced the entire album by herself, which gains my utmost respect for an experimental album that went out in 1980s.
Imo not the strongest Bowie album
I normally would've given this one star, not because it's a bad album but mostly a very cliche folk rock~ i'm aware that it's one of the first big folk rock albums, but it didn't blow me away. However, the psychedelic songs in the album, and especially I'd Swear There Was Somebody Here & Tamalpais High songs were good influences on me. I also liked the story being told by Cowboy Movie, which is pretty futuristic i'd say for its time, considering even the biggest songs were at most about personified singular stuff, like Eleanor Rigby. Turning a movie plot into a lyrical folk rock song hit the jackpot for me.
I think the album shines with "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida", a mysterious, 17 minutes long, scary, funky, ballady, legendary song, and the rest of the album is just appetizers that don't really increase my appetite.
It's a great album for those who enjoy soul, i do like it from time to time but it wouldn't be my 5-star genre. I do want to state that it is a top state of the art of its kind, the genre is not just for me. So if you like it, don't worry about people's 3s or 4s, you'll enjoy it
