what i’ve learned from this process so far is that songs from the pre-streaming era are all either 90 seconds long, or 23 minutes, with absolutely no other options in between. although i do enjoy the change of pace with this one, i do feel like this would be more enjoyable to listen to live, in a musty dancefloor somewhere and probably under the influence. sitting in the concrete prison listening to afrobeats makes me more depressed than i was initially, as it reminds me of how i could be spending my young fun years out somewhere warm, instead of on burnaby mountain where it is currently 9 degrees and raining, and there is homework to be done. every tippy tap of the drum solo was tippy tapping directly onto my sad tired skull.

much love & respect to 80s punk but somehow this was boring. not bad, just something my highschool chemistry teacher would listen to.

blitzkrieg ᵖᵒᵖ! some old guy would fight me for even thinking this but the ramones were and still are undeniably brat like wdym “i wanna beeee your bOyFriEnD” while wearing a whole crop top on the cover photo. i love the 70s. i love leather jackets and shitty haircuts. live laugh love ramones.

i’m quaking in my boots because why does 7 songs last ONE HOUR AND EIGHTEEN MINUTES - my goldfish attention span simply cannot handle this insanity. right off the bat the guitar intro is really great and i love a boop doop bassline always. very bluesy. i forgot i was listening to it and snapped into an alternate cowboy timeline when i finally came back into consciousness. technically good but i am too sleepy to appreciate this.

good album for a sunny day, but i’m always a sucker for this kind of vibe. as a side note, it’s hard to believe it came out in 2003 AND that they’re irish, i would have genuinely thought it was from a 70s/80s west coast band (think phish & that whole scene). i had to go back and check it wasn’t like a rerelease or remaster or something because they have that vibe down so convincingly.

very fun and funky,, i like it. reminds me of the old music my parents play when they get nostalgic except if we were from brazil and not bosnia. however it reminds me of this dude I used to go out with way back in first year, which was an overall strange time in my life so -1 point.

i’m so cheesed that kanye crashed out bc this album has some bangers and i do see his overarching theme here, BUT minus stars for being a raging nazi and minus stars for being terrible towards women, though i do have to give him 1 extra star because of the aforementioned bangers and the fact that this album went triple platinum in my car when i first got my license, sorry :/

at first i really thought i wasn’t going to like this one, just based on the first two tracks, but after that it kinda grew on me. 3.5 stars bc i like it but not lovee it

at first glance, it sounds like what would happen if the beatles tried to go punk. i’m not complaining or anything but it’s weird to me the juxtaposition of the relatively low-quality production and vocals and then all of a sudden they hit the cleanest little classic rock guitar solo like what is going on here
