awww cute kitty....PUT THOSE DOGS AWAY MA'AM
Unlike most of the 3's I give (mid stuff, completely average, blatantly passable), this is a 3 just because it's not something I'd deliberately listen to. It's not my taste. It's good. For what it is, for the genre it belongs to, it's better than average; it's just not my style, so I can't rate it any higher than that.

Influential? No idea. Though, if the only thing noteworthy in that wiki section is that a few songs were used in commercials, I wouldn't say that's an accomplishment that will define your legacy. This sounds soooo boring, so bland, even elevator music is more interesting sometimes, it's basically royalty-free music you hear in low buget short films on yt.
Strictly from a musical point of view, this is simply boring. I don't know. I'm no expert on Portuguese, but A Minha Menina doesn't sound right at all. If you HAVE TO use parts of songs in other languages, at least try to pronounce things correctly.

at some point while listening to this, I started feeling the chilly breeze hitting my face as I watched over my farm at sunset from my humble porch, rocking back and forth in a chair with a glass of whisky in hand, my dog (a golden retriever named Buddy, obviously) lying at my feet, a single tear rolling down my cheek, thinking about the good old days and about my darling who'd left me for the big city life
i ain’t american, but this album and the imagery it gives me feel like peak southern culture
Janet Jackson · 1 likes

I didn't think I would enjoy this as much as I did. I haven't really listened to Janet Jackson, let alone this album, but I got to be honest, it somehow impressed me.
I don't get the reviews though: "it sounds so 80s", "should be kept in the time period it was made", "sounds out of date now", "out of touch". I'm no rocket scientist, but why would an album made in a time period NOT SOUND LIKE THAT TIME PERIOD? Oh, The Beatles don't sound like their time period at all, right? So what, do they sound 70s, 2020s and prehistorical at the same time because they are the peak of music and supposedly transcend any era? Since you all rate these "classic" artists so highly, nothing you say about the lower rated ones should apply to your favourites, but guess what happens EACH and EVERY time?
I get it, you guys are "not like other girls", you listen to underground stuff (The Beatles, Nirvana, Bob Dylan and other reaaally really small artists) not pop. Pop is mainstream unlike YOUR music taste. This album doesn't align with my music taste either, but am i going to shit on it just because of that? As I said, I was quite shocked at how much I enjoyed it. I don't normally listen to this, but credit is due where credit is due, this album is great. Is it the best album of all times? No, that's a thing that will never exist, but that doesn't mean you can't call this album good.

not the biggest fan of this genre or live performances, but i'd still say this album is somewhere in the middle of the road
if it were longer, i think i'd lower the rating, but as it is, i'd say it's enjoyable at least for some background music unlike other albums on here
Talking Heads
2/5
This would be fine if it were just a song not an entire album, not the worst but not close to mid either, as bland as my opinion on it.
No songs about buildings OR food. This is false advertising, I feel betrayed, mislead, toyed with, I want my money back.
Jeff Buckley
5/5
one of the few albums where i not only like every song, but also find it difficult to choose a favourite (fyi hallelujah is competing for last place)
and yeah, i get that music is subjective, but cmon guys so many 1 stars? have you heard any other albums from this book? if this is a 1, maybe a new scale should be invented for some of those "classics" i'm sure some of you gave 5 stars to just because you have such great taste

The Who
3/5
i could never get behind the "classic rock album" thing, this is my first listen and i mean yeah, it's alright, but there's nothing special about it
best way to describe this would be: background music in a rundown pub, so in the context of downing a pint this could work, but i can't imagine any other situation in which i'd listen to this album in full again, just a few songs
Metallica
3/5
not my favourite metallica album
don't have a lot to say since it hasn't given me much to begin with, it's just fine nothing special, it's kinda all the same over and over except one (yeah of course i picked the mainstream song hang me for it), to live is to die, blackened and maaaybe just maybe the track title if it weren't that long
Television
2/5
first of all why are they standing there like my sleep paralysis demons? the guys on the far left and far right would be great for some analog horror series on yt
looking at them, i feel like my soul is being searched, my deepest darkest fears unearthed; the cover is the only thing that actually evokes any kind of emotion in me, the songs not so much
Fugees

i can see the influence this album had on songs to come, but hip hop still isn't my thing, fun listen tho
PS i've just forgotten about killing stalking, guess my teenage years will haunt me forever
Amy Winehouse
4/5
really solid album. i just don't understand why some people on here think it's such a crime to take inspiration from an older style of music. it's not "nostalgia baiting", it's putting your own spin on something, being creative, which is what music and art as a whole are all about
4/5
At first it wasn’t anything that special, kind of annoying vocals, but it got significantly better as it went on. I’d actually listen to some of these songs out of my own volition. Ok fine, this grew on me a bit too much, not a solid 4, but 3 feels a bit too low. There's some great stuff on here man.
Also, what’s going on with the cover? I hate it, yet I love it. It unsettles me, yet it intrigues me. It disgusts me, yet I can’t take my eyes off it. I don’t want it on my wall, I need it.

so this album went double platinum, is critically acclaimed, and even won Finley an award, but it still does not seem influential in the way I would expect. even if I am not fond of an album, I can at least appreciate the impact it has had on the industry, but I just do not see that here. maybe it was more of a breakthrough in the UK? maybe my stupid eastern european brain just cannot comprehend that. still, I would not say this album is worthy of being on this list
this was kinda close to a 2 cuz the instrumental can be interesting. still, it lacks a lot, and if you are a nepo baby (a small one, but still), at least use your connections to make better music

Arcade Fire

it's not BAD per se, but the whole album sounds like the most forgettable songs from the soundtrack of a quite recent (2010's up to now) movie/series
i get that there are people that enjoy this type of music, i do as well in some cases, but not this time
Cocteau Twins
4/5
didn't understand a single thing, but that's the same when it comes to songs in languages i don't understand and i still enjoy those as well
moral of the story: vibes are the only thing that matter in life
also that bell curve in the ratings is any statistician's wet dream, i haven't seen one so perfect thus far so i had to point it out
Sly & The Family Stone
3/5
Groovy, could've been wilder though. Once again, a pretty average album, not truly worthy of a 3, but clearly not a 2 either. I don't particularly like or dislike any song, oh except sex machine, what's going on there? Why is he getting waterboarded at some point? Was he about to drop the heaviest bars known to mankind and was just silenced? Thirteen minutes is an egregious length for a song like that, so that's the only one I can say I hate (with a passion, actually), like if some day I get paralyzed from waist down and that song starts playing, I swear to god I'm crawling across the room to stop it.
P.S. As Cher and Future once said DIFFERENT STROKES FOR DIFFERENT FOLKS AND SO ON AND SO ON AND SCOOBY DOOBY DO (don't come for my neck i had no idea that was a real song until now).
Elvis Presley
3/5
I've never been an Elvis fan, but that has nothing to do with the fact that I don't think this album should've been included here. Mind you, this has been in Rolling Stone's 'Greatest 500 Albums of All Time', a major stretch as well. My parents weren't even a thought in my grandparents' mind in '69, so maybe at that time this was something outstanding (doubt it, since only one song topped the charts), but this list wasn't made in '69. Music has evolved since then, and even if you wanted to, you couldn't listen to EVERYTHING produced since.
My point being, this album is fine, however, why choose an average album over other great ones? Just because it contains Elvis's last no.1 hit? A tribute, a farewell of sorts? We should be focusing on the album not the artist. Of course Elvis was influential, among other favourites of the list's author, but that doesn't mean SO MANY albums of theirs have to be included. Though, to be fair, the rock-n-roll king doesn't have that many when compared to other artists *cough* *cough* Bob Dylan.
Janet Jackson

Paul McCartney
3/5
Alright, I get it. He made this album all by himself at an emotionally tumultuous point in his life. Still, it is not fair to let the behind the scenes of an album influence the rating. The way I have been approaching this is to rate it strictly based on how much I enjoy it, how much I like the songs, and nothing else.
So, based solely on my music taste, I do not find anything particularly special about it. I enjoy some parts here and there, but I cannot bring myself to give this a 4. However, for once I can understand the reasoning behind including a specific album. It is Paul’s debut and marks the end of the Beatles, so I think this album has earned its place.
Although, since there are so many Beatles albums on this list, I am sure the author did not have my reasoning and was just thinking, YES YES INCLUDE EVERYTHING THEY MADE AS A BAND AND IN THEIR SOLO CAREERS.
Sex Pistols
1/5
I’ve known from a very young age that I didn’t like the Sex Pistols, but today I finally got the chance to listen to their music in full, also a chance for them to redeem themselves in my eyes. It turns out none of that happened. They have one album too many.
I understand the influence they had, and I’m not trying to undermine that in any way, shape, or form. Having such an impact with a single album is an impressive feat, props to them. However, I can’t see the appeal at all. “Problem” doesn’t even sound like a word anymore after listening to Problems. The same can be said for other songs on the album. It felt like a personal attack on my English knowledge. On top of the very British pronunciation, every word is spat at me, for lack of a better description, so my Eastern European brain kind of short circuits every now and again.
The 13th Floor Elevators
3/5
Actually kinda good? I'm honestly surprised. By no means is it anything groundbreaking, it's not like I found a new favourite band or anything, but I think this is an alright album, fun here and there. If I were born just in time to be able to listen to this upon its release, I'd have enjoyed it tons more.
The Fall
2/5
Had some fun at first, but I don't like It's a Curse at All or Paranoia Man either. I'm not a fan of talking through the ENTIRETY of a song; it kind of annoys me, honestly. It can work sometimes, in moderation and in a controlled manner. I enjoyed the first two songs, and A Past Gone Mad as well. The formula for those works great. It would have been nice if the approach had been kept the same for the rest of the album. This could have easily been a 3 if the same energy resonated in all the songs, but the vocals make me bump it down to a 2. The instrumental is the only reason the rating does not go any lower. This is just not for me. I can see the appeal it has for other people, though; I am just not part of that group, unfortunately.
My least favorite is by far Light/Fireworks. It feels more like an intermission than a song, which would not necessarily be a bad thing if it also had the length of an intermission, not a full-on song. It is funny, though, that the only part that resembles an actual song is the length of an intermission. Maybe that was the intention, and maybe I am just stupid.
Bob Dylan
1/5
YAY my first Bob Dylan album. I was dreading this day. One down, six left to go, someone shoot me pls. Thinking that THIS is Americans' folk music ALMOST makes me feel bad for them. I'm not sure the British are doing any better? I won't make myself listen to that, not after today.
Why is it so boring? Folk around (most of) the world is so interesting, such a great way to learn and understand a culture. Now that I think about it, this fits the Americans actually, I mean how much culture can a 250 years old nation have? I'm sure that the folk music the natives have (from which they surely haven't stolen any components just to add their european spin on it, like everything else there) is better than this contemporary stuff. I hate that this 20th century folk became a thing, traditional folk is miles ahead of this shit.
The Soft Boys
3/5
So, seeing that so many of the songs were bonus tracks, I wanted to check what the original album looked like and whether this is how it originally came out or if it is a re-release of sorts. Spoiler alert, the bonus tracks were not included originally.
Looking at the album the way it is presented here, it is a 2. It does not matter who you are, a two hour long album gets boring, and at some point you just want it to be over. However, for this rating, I will take into consideration the first release, which is a much more reasonable 36 minutes.
That way, I would say it is a 3. Nothing spectacular, but it is way better in that form. I am actually not sure why they chose this version of the album for the list. The one with just the first ten songs exists on Spotify. It is even stated in the book that each album on the list had its original version selected, not any later re-releases or reissues.

Cocteau Twins
5/5
Why is everyone so English centered? Well, it’s really easy to guess where they are from that way. I get that lyrics mean a lot. They can make or break a song. But if you hear a song in another language, even if it sounds incredible, would you say it’s shit just because you can’t understand the lyrics?
I suppose you don’t even listen to songs in other languages. Why would you when THE US IS THE GREATEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD GOD BLESS THIS FREE LAND, and let’s not forget THE GREATEST EMPIRE OF HISTORY ALSO BREXIT WAS AN AMAZING IDEA. Australia and Canada are safe, I don’t have beef with them.
Maybe it’s just me, or other people like me. Not natives to an English speaking country. Growing up, the radio was 80% English. Did I understand a single word? Not at all. I couldn’t even make it out when a song was in English. I just clocked that it was another language. BUT I STILL ENJOYED THEM. I just vibed along. I didn’t even know the title of any of them.
After learning this stupid language, I do admit that I lost interest in some songs after finding out what vile stuff they sang about, trashing on minorities in general. So I get that lyrics can influence your reception of a song. But if you can’t make them out, guess what? Google is free.
The Cure
4/5
I'm not THAT familiar with The Cure's discography, but I had a hunch I would enjoy this. Of course I know some of their songs, but I was never that big of a fan as to actively search out more music from them. Something about Robert Smith's voice makes me not LOVE their stuff. I would listen to these songs outside of the challenge though. I really like the instrumentals. Don't get me wrong, it's nothing groundbreaking, but I enjoy the vibes they convey; it's calming for me. This was truly a rare discovery on this list.
John Martyn
1/5
I've just pressed play and man oh man does he need some cough syrup? Oh god I kinda hate this a lot. Why does he make that voice sometimes? It takes me out of it. Not a fan at all of whatever this is, but I actually enjoyed "Certain Surprise" so I guess he can produce stuff someone like me would enjoy but this IS NOT IT.

Man do I hate the drip technique used in paintings (cover art in this case). POLLOCK WHEN I CATCH YOU POLLOCK why did he have to make this thing so popular?
I feel like the album cover encapsulates the album perfectly though. Trying to be so interesting but failing. Is it good? Yeah, in a way. I don't mind the songs but they're not making me wanna actively seek out this album. It's just fine, like mainly everything on this list. I've already lost hope in this list but ALL TIME TOP 1000 ALBUMS AS WELL?? PLACE 11???? THIS ALBUM?? There must be something wrong with me cuz I don't think it deserves a spot anywhere near THAT list. Why didn't they choose albums from more countries instead of all this mid American and British stuff? Again I'm not saying this album is bad, it's just not worthy of being included in such lists. I hoped I would've gotten the chance to hear stuff from more cultures from these challenges but it's the same stuff over and over again.
Peter Gabriel
3/5
Actually really interesting. I like the way that things are experimented on here. That being said, that's not enough to bump this up any more than this. Sometimes it feels really hard to give a rating; I feel limited. Like this 3 is not the same as another one. I usually give 3's to albums that are fine, nothing special, maybe a bit boring at some points, but at the end of the day are ok, not good, not bad, just ok. In this case, even if it's a 3, it's still interesting. It doesn't get a 3 for being average; it gets a 3 just because it's not enough to REALLY impress me, but I still had fun and I'm glad I got to listen to this. I feel like, especially for the 3's, I have to be very specific with my thoughts, so that in 5, 2, hell, even one year, I remember what distinctions I made, if an album was painfully average but still an alright listen, or if it's actually something kinda good, just not my thing. I'm already having trouble comparing albums when thinking about the ratings, so i feel like this is the best approach.
Fitting name for the album though, Peter Gabriel 3 gets a 3.
Radiohead
3/5
How the fuck was Katy Perry making out to Kid A (she confirmed that)? Even this would've been a better pick for that particular activity.
First time I'd actually consider myself a fan of whoever I get on this list, but it's nowhere near the best album of theirs. It's alright, but I never thought it would be deserving of top 3, and clearly not deserving of this list at all. It kinda blends together at some point; I don't feel like there is anything standing out. Well, "2+2=5" is good, but "Myxomatosis" is my favourite one. I haven't seen anyone else mention it, that's why I felt the need to do so. "A Wolf At the Door" is also up there, but the rest kind of drags on. I don't hate it, but I wouldn't really seek out anything else on this album.
Various Artists
4/5
So first of all, fuck Phil Spector, he's dead anyways, but still, I hope he's having a real hot time right now.
That out of the way, I don't have that nostalgia or strong feelings towards these songs, since I'm not American or British or anything anywhere near the English-speaking folks. I know the songs from American media, but that's about it. I've never listened to them to feel the Christmas spirit. I just get the 90's American TV Christmas spirit. It makes me feel like I'm in one of those movies. That's why I feel I can give a more unbiased opinion. It's not a perfect album, but it's really fun, actually deserving of being on this list. It's incredibly influential, it makes a whole holiday (alongside newer songs, but that's besides the point). It's really good, but I still wanna keep my rating system. Would I actively listen to these songs? Not really. Not even on Christmas. Are they bangers? Absolutely!
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!! And Phil, once again, rot in whatever hell you believed in, in all of them actually, since I don't believe in any.
Creedence Clearwater Revival
2/5
Yeehaw, partner howdy and buckle up. Y’all better be ready for the time of your sweet ass life. This album right here is darntootin’ mid, as the youngins keep jawin' about these days, pal. I got a hankerin’ for a beer or twelve, then headin’ home walkin’ on a slant just to whoop my good fo' nothin' wife after listenin’ to this mess. I spent all my time just piddlin' around scratchin' my head checkin' the clock and wonderin' if the radio was broke or just punishin' me personally. This album’s sho’ ’nuff scarce as hen’s teeth when it comes to entertainment. I’ll be tarred and feathered, rarely do I find somethin’ so mindnumbin’ly boring. I had more fun lookin’ up ways Southern folks talk than I did listenin’ to this whole thing.
Stereo MC's
3/5
"Connected" was actually good so I was expecting something better from this album. It all kind of blends together, like many other albums on this list. No idea why they were picked. Just for commercial success? For being critically acclaimed? It would have been a good thing to have Dimery's reasoning as to why anything was chosen, but I guess we'll never know. I'm not saying I have to LIKE an album for it to be worthy of its place, I'm just saying pick something that's actually influential. Not something that was in the charts for 3 weeks in the UK or in the US. Pick something that, I don't know, influenced the whole genre and not just in one country, in the whole world.
Steve Winwood
3/5
A fine start, some easy listening, nothing that particular about it. Impressive that everything was done by Steve, playing the instruments, singing, writing, producing and engineering all of the songs, buuut that's still not a reason for being an album you HAVE to hear before you die. I have no idea how much of an influence on music this had had, but idk this is just not it for me. It's kinda average, I'd play this as background music, nothing more though.
Neil Young
2/5
Why Neil Young again? WHY? WHY SEVEN ALBUMS GOD WHY?? It's not that bad but not good either. By the end of this I feel like I'll just give him 1 star after 1 star cuz I'll be so goddamn fed up with all of his songs. What's the Americans' obsession with him? I actually don't get it that's a genuine question. He isn't big where I'm from I haven't heard of him until starting this challenge. Imagine my schock when I checked out his monthly listeners then googled him and WAIT HE'S NOT EVEN AMERICAN???? I thought he was some kind of national treasure. Please please to all the gods let it be so that I won't have to hear another one of his albums for at least a month. How is it even more boring than the one I got before?
The Adverts

I want to thank Robert Dimery for making me realise how much I FUCKING HATE punk music. I abhor British punk with a passion, actually the British as a whole. EUROPE IS MORE THAN THE UK. I CAN'T TAKE THIS ANYMORE. This list is making me hate the Brits more and more each day; they're gonna end up as my sworn enemy by the time i finish this.
Willie Colón & Rubén Blades
3/5
Am I hearing this right? Something that's not in English? An album that's not American or British? Robert sweetie, are you fine? Were you having a fever? Was the day you added this the day you found out the world has more than two countries? You took a geography lesson by mistake?
Even now, he doesn't pick something that does anything outstanding. This album is fine, but that's about it. I could name 10 Latin albums that should've been on this list but aren't. I'm not part of this culture at all, but this is the type of music that plays at weddings at the request of the drunk unmarried uncle in my country, so I doubt it's THAT exciting for Latinos either.
White Denim
3/5
Robert is very nitpicky with newer stuff on this list only like 5% was released after 2010 if that much. So WHY ON GODS GREEN EARTH ARE YOU CHOOSING THIS ALBUM for newer stuff??? Its not like there was nothing good released in 2011. Born this way for example is better on all grounds than this rubbish. I find it impossible to believe you can find anyone ANYFUCKINGONE who knows of this bland album and not Lady Gaga's. Im genuinely so pissed right now. If this is your jam great good for you, but you can't deny that this was not influential for the 2010's whatsoever. Like it all you want it doesn't deserve a place in a list like this.
Curtis Mayfield

Really liked it at first, but that voice started rubbing me the wrong way as it went on. Kind of a shame. It seemed like I was actually going to enjoy this a lot more than I did.

I feel like some of these albums were thrown in here simply for "diversity". Honestly there isn't any genre diversity nor culture diversity on this list. It's such a shame. This album isn't at all what I'd listen to. Just not my style. Two songs sound like a bare version of Romanian traditional folk, I think that's cool, that's like all I got to say. Overall it's eh, nothing that special for me, more like calming and relaxing background music. Still, I'd like to listen to more stuff like this instead of the same British punk/rock or American rock/folk. Idk I got a feeling this was only chosen cuz Ry Cooder is involved and he is American. I'm not tryna undermine his work, but seeing how little foreign works are chosen for this project, I can't help but think this way. I'm actually stunned to see African music on here. I'd expect that a guy like this list's author would think Africa is one big country and everyone lives in trees and caves.
Queen
3/5
I don't even have to listen to this, I already know it will be better than the majority of stuff on here, god do I hate this list. Not my favourite album from Queen, it was nice tho, but I can't say I'd come back to it often. As much as I'd like to rate this higher I just cannot.
The Police
2/5
I had never listened to this album in full even though I had always wanted to. I thought I would enjoy it much more than I did, but I was honestly let down. Call me basic if you want, Every Breath You Take is a great song and easily the best on the album.
The rest of it sounds so different to me that it is hard to believe I did not accidentally change the album. I had no idea it was so reggae(?) oriented. I would rather leave reggae to the artists who can actually make it work because this just is not for me in any way, shape, or form.
I am glad I did not listen to this earlier. I would have been even more grateful if I had never listened to it at all. Barely a 2. I usually rate albums as a whole, but this time I had to grade each song individually just to see if it even deserved a 2.
Van Morrison

I hate live albums, double albums and this genre. I ain’t got a good feeling about this one. Yeah halfway in and I'm not enjoying myself at all. It's just not my style and it's SO DAMN long. I'm not sure I can make it through the second part honestly. Not bad so to say, but it's just so boring to me. Let's say it deserves its place on here though with all that "one of the best live albums" stuff and whatnot.
G. Love & Special Sauce

Why is he kinda giving Shane Dawson and Dylan O'Brien love child on that cover?
I haaaaate this so much. Sometimes the instrumental is kinda good, but everything falls apart so quickly you can't even begin to form the thought of "hmm maybe this ain't pure shit". Even the "hit" of this album is horrible, I just can't go on anymore.
Also what fucking accent is this? It sounds like it would be on a Cambridge English exam. I can barely make out a thing he says at times. Listening to this I'm suddenly transported to my 10-year-old self, hearing the radio and not understanding a single word because I didn't speak English.
The Specials
1/5
Well that name ain't good at all cuz there's nothing special about this album or band.
I wasn't a fan of the British before, but this list is making me loathe them with a passion. Not EVERY SINGLE thing a brit put out should be listened to before dying. This list is just the author's fave playlist at this point
Rush

20 FUCKING MINUTES ARE YOU MAD? WHY IS ONE SONG MORE THAN HALF THE ALBUM'S LENGTH??
I really enjoy 2 songs, but you can't have just 2 songs on an album. Not my thing that's all, I get why others seem to enjoy it.
Frank Ocean
2/5
I never really liked this type of music. I found out about him during the COVID lockdown, when his songs were trending on the gay side of TikTok (I don’t know if they were trending on the entire app, since that’s the only side I’ve ever been on). I don’t get the hype at all. I can kind of understand why someone would like it, but I just can’t. I really tried to get into his music when I was a teen, but I couldn’t. It seems like I haven’t changed that much since then.
Pulp
3/5
Not THAT bad. I've never heard of this album or band before. I assumed I'd hate it way more, but it's actually alright. Nothing incredible, I'm not sure I'd wanna keep any song on repeat, but maybe I'll give a few of them a listen here and there. It was a nice time, I didn't suffer throughout this, which is kinda hard to come by lately, honestly.
Creedence Clearwater Revival
2/5
I'm not American enough to like this. For once, though, I get why an album was chosen. I don't like it, but I get that it had an influence at its time. Still, I fucking hate CCR. I don't need any more of their albums. PLEASE just make it STOP.
Todd Rundgren
3/5
I really, really want to like this more, but I just can’t. It has some good moments, actually enjoyable ones, but that’s not enough for me. It’s kind of a good time listening to this, honestly. It’s really interesting. If I had been born at that time, I think I would’ve loved this compared to the mainstream of those days. That one song has no business being 10 minutes long, though. I’m sure of that much.
Eagles
4/5
I don't care how overplayed Hotel California is. I can't deny that it's a really good song just because it's crazy popular. I wasn't around for their glory days, so I cannot get the idea of how oversaturated the radio was with their music. Man, I wasn't even conscious enough to get the Nickelback hate in its prime, so I really have no idea how that could've influenced my opinion on this album. I really enjoy this type of mellow rock, I think? Idk it's slower, softer, more relaxing. I like to have it as background music. I couldn't care less about what anyone thinks, call it boring, call it overrated. I just enjoy it, and I don't think that's a crime. Also worth to mention Life in the Fast Lane is the weakest on the album in my opinion. No idea why it's the second most streamed song.
Giant Sand
1/5
God, I thought the whole thing was two hours. I didn’t see the bonus tracks at first. I'm not making myself listen to those as well btw. I’m not really a fan of his voice or how he basically talks, sometimes sings, trying to be all seductive or whatever. I’m not sure what his end goal is here. Is sounding attractive actually the point? Because as a woman, I’m dry as sand hearing his voice. Also this is a chore for sure, so they got that right as well.
WHAT THE FUCK IS A WOODPECKER DOING HERE? What was this album, man? The first song wasn’t that bad, but it just kept getting worse and worse. It’s kind of the same thing over and over again, honestly. Why did I have to listen to this? Such a shame, because the instrumental sometimes feels like it’s getting somewhere, but then this guy comes in and ruins everything.
The Rolling Stones
2/5
So boring, sorry. I’ll never get the hype around The Rolling Stones. I’m not a fan. Never have been. I wasn’t even aware of the hits on this album. I’m Eastern European, though, so I have the right to not know British shit. I’m actually glad this is the first time I’ve heard it, because it also means it’s going to be the fucking last.
Solange
2/5
Women on this list are so rare, so I’m really trying my hardest to like them when an album pops up, but I just can’t. There’s no way. It’s just too boring for me, too samey in places. I’m still trying to understand how this guy picks the albums.
I’m not saying this woman isn’t talented just because it’s not my style. Maybe other people dig this. I’m just saying there are so many incredible women who didn’t make the list, and I just don’t get why.
Like, no offense to Solange, but I’ve never heard of her (I’m not American). This is the first time I’m finding out she’s Beyoncé’s sister, who, mind you, only has one album on here (one with Destiny’s Child too, I think), while some guys have five to seven albums.
Lady Gaga has none.
Shakira has none.
Whitney Houston has none.
Cher has none.
Shania Twain has none.
RIHANNA HAS NONE, AND SHE IS ARTIST NUMBER SIX IN THE WHOLE FUCKING WORLD ON SPOTIFY.
The list can go on for days. You don’t have to like the work of these women to recognize that they are more influential than, no kidding, 40% of this list (maybe even more, but I’m not trying to exaggerate too much).
As a woman, I’m just so disappointed in this guy and his list. Barely any representation for women, for other countries, other ethnicities. It’s just British and American crap over and over and over again. I’m so fucking tired. Even the genres aren’t that diverse. The same three seem to be more prevalent on here, and I HATE IT.
Frank Sinatra
2/5
I get that he has a nice voice. I get that this is groovy and relaxing. I get that for its time this was PEAK. But the world evolved, WE evolved, MUSIC evolved, so I don’t have to pretend I adore this just because it was incredible when it was released. It's not BAD per se, but I wouldn't listen to any song on here again, let alone the whole album. I can’t even imagine living in a time with such limited music options. Like, you’re telling me that on top of having NO Wi-Fi, NO shawarma, NO rights, NO FUCKING ANYTHING, because only straight white men deserved the good stuff, THIS is all I could’ve listened to? No thank you.
Prince
2/5
There are a ton of popular artists I wanted to give a listen to, but either never got the chance or forgot about. Prince is one of them. I’m glad I wasn’t missing out on much, since sometimes I get really mad at myself for not listening to something sooner. This just isn’t for me. Each song drags on and sounds the same throughout its entirety. Like what you like. If this is for you, I’m glad you can enjoy it, but I really cannot, sorry. This is doing nothing for me. It’s kind of groovy, but so boring. I could never listen to any of these songs again.

..why? This makes me feel bad for the other 1's I gave. I've found a new rock bottom. Bach is dead you say? Lucky for him. He didn't have to hear this trash. I'm just... I dont even have words, like I doubt I'll hear something worse on this godforsaken list. Robert Dimery why? Why make this list? Why add this trash? I wanna curse him so bad, but English isn't hitting hard enough for me so lemme switch up to my native language real quick: robert CINE DRECU TE-O PUS SĂ FACI LISTA ASTA, BĂGA-O-AȘ ÎN CHIZDA MĂ-TII CĂ O MÂNCAT-O AȘA RĂU SĂ TE FACĂ, FUTU-ȚI GUSTURILE MUZICALE, BĂGA-MI-AȘ PULA-N ĂIA DE ȚI-O PUBLICAT JEGU ĂSTA, 'TU-ȚI COPACU' DIN CARE O FOST FĂCUT SERTARU-N CARE ERA PREZERVATIVU' DE NU ȘI L-O PUS TACTU'. Tame enough I think, I gotta rethink my life after this.

I just don't like hip-hop. I'm not gonna trash on this like others did just cuz this isn't my thing. This is so classic hip-hop that I just can't dig it, but I wouldn't blame someone for liking it. I'm actually glad I stumble upon something different from time to time. I'm so bored with the same old rock and punk or post punk or whatever. For a list that included every shit ever made in the US and UK, there sure are very few black people. Few women too. Little diversity in ethnicities and nationalities too .
Also why is everyone saying this is aggressive? Like I expected some aggressive beats, some crazy shit. I actually like that stuff. Is this the first time these people listen to hip hop? The lyrics were how they always are.
At least this thing was influential. This is how this list should've been. I could accept not liking something on this list if at least it has earned its spot. But nooo the same trash keeps on piling up. At least this album has bigger accomplishments on wiki than being on this godforsaken list. WHY THE FUCK DO YOU ADD AN ALBUM WITH ONE PATHETIC PARAGRAPH ON ITS WIKI HUH?
3/5
"Don't Look Back In Anger" is my favorite on this album. "Wonderwall" is the worst, of course. I cannot believe I haven’t escaped the fate of having a guy mediocrely sing that song to me on guitar even in fucking Romania. You are not safe anywhere from a mid white guy with curly hair, a guitar, and a hell of a lot of audacity.
I fucking hate britpop. What’s all the fuss with these guys? I’m not British, thank all the gods, so I don’t get it. It’s just so bland. Gallagher whatever his name is, I couldn’t be bothered to look it up, has such an annoying voice. God do I hate it.
Almost four stars as an overall rating for what exactly? Why? Nostalgia? This stuff wasn’t popular in my country, so I genuinely have no idea why people like it so much. Until recently I thought Oasis was a one hit wonder type of band. I’ve only ever heard Wonderwall, each time against my will. As I was saying, it’s not a popular band in Eastern Europe, I guess.
I’m halfway through the album and didn’t even notice. Everything just blends together into an endless nothingness. This feels like it has no substance. Nothing interesting. Nothing noteworthy. I honestly can’t wrap my head around why and how this is such a big thing. I’m genuinely puzzled. It's far from the worst thing I've heard in my life, but it's just so average? Seeing that it is so praised in the reviews I though it was gonna be something groundbreaking.

I’m sure this was an amazing album for its time, but I always rate these based on how much I enjoy them and how much I’d want to listen to them again. This type of music is just not my thing. It’s good, just not something I’d personally listen to, but I’m still glad when I’m able to find stuff like this on this list.
Usually, when I get something I don’t like, it’s atrocious, basically the same British or American rock or folk band over and over again. It’s nice to have a change of pace. This is actually relaxing and nice. This guy has an amazing voice. Even though it’s not my cup of tea, I had a nice time listening to this. It's warm and cozy. Great experience.
Don McLean

Ah great, yet another album that I’m too European to understand. Why is American Pie such an amazing sing along song? I agree that exactly 17 seconds out of those abominable almost nine minutes are actual karaoke material. Maybe I’m just a folk hater. Add American hater on top of that too. I just don’t like this. It’s so boring. I don’t even have much to say about it. I can’t even insult it since it didn’t leave that much of a mark on me.
It’s like I went to a fancy restaurant, reservations made five months in advance, ten types of forks just for salad, fancy dress and pearls, all that jazz and I was served boiled chicken. No seasoning, no sides, no bread, no water, no fucking nothing.
Nirvana
4/5
At first I thought this would be a clear five star album, but it seems I only had in mind the songs I really enjoyed. Do not get me wrong, there are no bad songs exactly, but there are a few that just do not hit the same as the rest, which makes them seem worse by comparison. Plateau is the worst in my opinion. Cobain just is not hitting those notes in the chorus and it hurts my ears a bit. The same goes for Lake of Fire. Some songs work well as background music and they sound nice, but I would not necessarily seek them out. Because of that, it is not worthy of a five in my eyes. Half of the songs are amazing and the other half are just good. I need more than that to rank an album higher. Call me pretentious or a perfectionist all you want, but an album has to deserve the highest ranking. The same goes for a one star rating. The lowest and highest ratings require a lot of thought, and I do not just hand them out to any album that I slightly dislike or like.
Pink Floyd

Good album? Yeah, sure. THE best album ever? Yeah, not so much. I feel like this is way too overrated. Yeah, I get it, you were young and you absolutely adored this album at the time. It is actually proven that we are most likely to still listen to songs from our teenage years later in life, favouring them over others and only having fond memories of them.
I'm just 21 so even if this was my favourite album, I still couldn't have understood what this album meant during its prime, what it offered, or what changes it brought to the industry. That's one aspect of this album I'm not trying to dispute. Music taste is subjective but the influence this album had is undeniably objective. It is for sure deserving of its spot on this list. Since I'm on the younger side I also don't understand the trend during that time period with having such long songs. Maybe my attention span is totally fried but I don't think there is a need for such lengths. It starts dragging on at some point for me and I just start wishing it would end already.
Even with all my small critical comments I still think it's a nice album. It's fun having it on while I work or paint or study. It's interesting. You can clearly see it's something new for its time, something daring, and I appreciate that. Great album, but it has a few weak spots in my opinion. More of a 4.5, it's nowhere near the perfection others attribute to it but still a great album.
Björk

I absolutely adore Come To Me and Play Dead. I really enjoy some of the songs on this album, but at the same time I really don't like others, so it's a bit too hard for me to rate this. It has truly strong spots, but at the same time it has some weak ones as well.
I tried rating each song and that gave me around a 3.5, which doesn't help me that much honestly. Although a 3 feels like robbing this album. I just can't bring myself to do that. It was pretty enjoyable through its entirety.

It hasn’t been that long since I discovered trip hop, and that mistake is on my part. I already knew I would give this a five, but I still gave it a listen because why not. Maybe my taste has changed. Guess what? It is still an incredible album. I totally get that it is not for everyone, and there is nothing wrong with that. I would not listen to this album in the car, for example, but I love having it on in the background from start to finish. Cleaning, painting, reading, studying, less pure activities, it does not matter what. If you do not know how to fill the silence, just throw this album on. It is amazing. There is not much else I can add. Usually I give long reviews to albums I hate, but this? This is just too good.

What was in the air and water in the 70s besides pure crack that made people create such long ass songs? By the time a semblance of music actually appears, I feel like I’ve gone through three divorces, five kids, and four jobs. This is just sounds? And yeah, I know music is just sounds, but it also has to have some, I don’t know, musicality to it? These songs feel like the background sounds they use in films. Not background music. Background sounds.
So picture this. It’s an action movie. The first song sets the scene. Our main guy is relaxing, living his best life. He’s rich, handsome, all women fight to the death over him. He’s out in town trying to get with one of these said women. He’s at a bar. He sees her and falls in love because she’s not like other girls. She isn’t giving him attention, which means he’s gotta have her. She gives him a look that lasts two seconds too long and leaves.
He quickly stands up, forcefully smashing his whiskey on ice on the countertop. He rushes outside in hopes of finding her. The end of that first song is playing as he pushes through the crowd. He finally sees her. He reaches out his hand, but right when he’s about to touch her shoulder, he’s swallowed by the crowd.
Unbeknownst to him, this was a setup. He realizes he is actually being dragged away, and since he is in such a big crowd, no one notices anything suspicious. He’s been blindfolded. As the blindfold is taken off and he opens his eyes, he realizes that he has no idea where he ended up or how much time has passed. Everything is dark. He can only tell he is in some sort of warehouse.
As he tries to make out his surroundings, a silhouette appears in the corner of his eye. It’s the woman he saw at the bar. This whole thing was a trap, he thinks to himself. The boss makes himself visible as well. He tells our protagonist that he has been chosen. He is the one that’s going to help them with their investigation. He’s the only one that could do it. Why, you may ask? It’s never explained. It’s irrelevant. He’s the protagonist. Why would you question the logic of this movie?
The rest of the song plays as the plan and its details are explained. We skip a little bit so we can get to the next song. They are in the van, waiting for the museum thieves to appear. Of course it’s a heist movie. A bad one at that. For some time, nothing happens. Then, at a specific minute in the song, the thieves enter the museum. Our protagonists storm the building. A chase ensues. It goes on and on. They catch the thieves. Bla bla, unimportant.
Time skip again. The last song is there just as an outro. We see our guys living the time of their lives. The main guy and that girl end up together because of course they do, even though they barely spoke throughout the entire movie and basically just hated each other the whole time. But hey, that’s the beauty of straight relationships.
Peter Gabriel

It’s fine, I guess? I don’t particularly enjoy some songs, but most are decent, nice even. Not a fan of this more pop stuff from him. I don’t think I’d listen to any of these songs on their own, but I wouldn’t mind getting them on a playlist or recommended on Spotify or something. At least they are kinda interesting. The instrumentals are pretty great, so I'd like to like this more but I just can't.
2/5
This one’s really boring, there’s like nothing going on. If you like this, suit yourself, but it’s just not doing anything for me. Everything just falls kind of flat for me. Most of these songs sound like old ringtones or bland commercials.
Red Hill Mining Town is kinda good. In God’s Country sounds like an old Nokia ringtone at the beginning. I swear I’m not trying to be oh so different, but I hate the hits the most. No, hate is a strong word. It’s not like they are bad musically. They are boring. They don’t make me feel anything at all. They are all also kinda the same? I don’t understand why they became hits in the first place.
The second half of the album is honestly more solid than the first. Still not great, but a bit better. I’m not saying you have to overcomplicate everything, but this album is so simple, just too simple. That makes it easy to garner a wider audience, I suppose. You can’t go wrong with simple.
The Temptations

Honestly, pretty fun. Quite groovy. Would I listen to this on a random day? No, not really. Did I have fun listening to it? Yeah. It’s also only half an hour long, so it’s not unbearable to sit through it, although one song was 11 minutes. I’ll never understand the obsession the 70s had with that practice.
Well, I’m glad it’s over now. What else can I say? Not much I can add. It’s another case of I wouldn’t go out of my way to listen to it, but I wouldn’t get up to skip a song if it came on. "Love woke me up this morning" is my fave I think. Important addition.

Promising start, feels like the intro to an old animated Disney movie. I’m not American nor British, but the first song kinda sounds like their carols, idk if I’m crazy.
Ok second song and this kinda falls apart. Eh, actually kinda chill after that. He nails those Sinatra vibes if that’s what he’s trying to do. But just like the albums from that era, this one suffers from the same problem. The songs sound kinda samey.
It’s relaxing, soothing even sometimes, but not that interesting over time. I did pretty much enjoy listening to this, but it’s not really my jam. His voice is nice but it gets monotonous over time. He’s not doing that much with it, to be honest. I feel like he could’ve explored his capabilities in a much broader way.
The instrumental is fine for what it is, nice to have as background, no complaints honestly. I like the guitar parts, for example on Tonight. I’m a fan of the blues-leaning songs and a hater of the ones that kinda go to folk but not quite there, it makes sense to me.
Overall pretty nice, goods and bads, but a nice experience. I’m surprised honestly.
David Bowie
3/5
Ok, really long songs had their fair share in the 70s, but 2016? Cmon now. Its not that I am so against long songs, I just do not like it when a song is dragged out to that runtime when it doesn't have the need for that. In most cases, the song would have benefited from being shorter. I can assure you it is not my Gen Z fried attention span. If new elements are introduced throughout the song, I can get on board. But in some cases, I don't know, I just don't vibe with it. It is a nice song, but in my opinion I would have enjoyed it a lot more if it were shorter.
I was never a Bowie fan. It is not that I hated him, I just grew up not listening to tons of music. That is why I want to do this challenge, to expand my musical horizons. Since I was not a fan, I cannot say I was truly affected by his death, which was unfortunate nonetheless. I am saying this because I think that may play a role in the love people have for this album, being his last and released not long before he died.
So for me, the album is fine. Just that. It clearly does not sound like something from 2016. I was kind of shocked when I checked the year. This album is nice, but it is just not it for me. I did enjoy it to some extent, but the main issue, in my opinion, is that it becomes stale at times. That is just something I personally do not enjoy.
Lazarus is pretty much the best song on the album. No doubt it is also the most popular. You can truly feel his emotions while he is singing it. It is honestly an incredible song. Again, it is hard to believe it came out in 2016, the same year as Love Yourself by Justin Bieber and Closer by The Chainsmokers. That comparison is just crazy to think about.
The chorus of Girl Loves Me is also quite compelling, I must admit. The same goes for I Can't Give Everything. The other songs just do not hit the same. I either find the vocals slightly out of place or the instruments not that interesting. It is just small things like that which make me not enjoy the album as a whole as much. It is nice overall, but nothing special to me.

British folk. Yay. How could my night possibly get any worse after rating Bob Dylan? God only knows. I am sorry, but there is nothing more boring in this world than folk music to me. I would rather watch paint dry, grass grow, or the sun move across the sky all day long. I would rather listen to ten babies crying. Anything. Literally anything else rather than listen to British or American folk.
Radiohead

See Katy Perry? This is a better pick for making out. Ill always be marked by the fact she picked Kid A. Ill never be able to move on.
Damn I forgot Street Spirit was on this album. I got flashbacks to Natalies death. WHY DID SHE HAVE TO GO WHY? FUCK U Yellowjackets writers and your love to pairing deaths with Radiohead songs.
Nothing else of substance to add. Incredible album. I dont care what anyone else says we are all entitled to an opinion and mine is that this is one of the best albums of all time.
Beatles
3/5
DONT FUCKING SHOOT ME PLEASE. So I’ve never listened to an entire Beatles album from start to finish. Up until now, I’d only known like 7 songs and that’s it. It should have stayed that way. Was this something incredible, unheard of, a blessing to the ears at the time of its release? I have no idea, my PARENTS weren’t even born at that time, my grandma was a little kid. Listening to it now for what it is, I just don’t like it that much. I don’t get the hype. I guess it was something fresh for the time, but it’s just not for me at all. I’m not arguing its place on this list, it for sure deserves it. I mean, c’mon, 24 times platinum. This is more well deserving than 90% of shit on here.
How are you gonna go to India to meditate and get inspiration for songs and still write such eh stuff? Again, maybe for the 60’s it was WOW. Most of the lyrics are nothing innovative or clever, stuff repeats a lot. Don’t get me started on songs like Honey Pie and Revolution 9.
The second disc is exponentially better. Why are all of the hits on the first one? While My Guitar Gently Weeps is a banger. It’s the only song I was aware of on this album. It slaps. The rest is either okay or trash or, well, Revolution 9. Honestly, I’m so conflicted rating this. I can’t really pick, I’m somewhere between a 2 and a 3. The first part really left me with no hope, but it kinda gets good later on. Still, there was no need for an album this long with so much garbage filler. I also try to keep that in mind while rating. If it were shorter, it would have been easier. I’m very unsure, but I’ll lean towards a 3. I hope I don’t regret my decision later on. I was really sure it would be a 2 at the start, but it kinda grew on me as it went on.
Tracy Chapman

Yeah, she has a nice voice and not everything has to be overcomplicated. Simple is sometimes an easier way to express yourself and she does express strong feelings. But I don’t know, it’s just not something I enjoy. I wouldn’t be able to listen to any of the songs on their own, let alone the whole album again. It wasn’t an outright terrible experience, so it’s not a 1-star, but it wasn’t a truly enjoyable experience either. The melodies are too similar, like I’m not sure when one song ends and another starts. It’s not the worst, but it’s far from good as well.
Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young

Again, I’m not American enough for this shit. I fucking hate their folk and folk rock and country and whatever other genre this album has. It’s soooooo boring. It's not the worst thing ever, better than Neil Young solo albums. But it's just eh. It's alright.

I love the song titles. Ohhhh, it’s the dude that made some of the Call Me By Your Name songs. Is that why he has so many streams? I can’t explain it otherwise. I didn’t like Mystery of Love in the first place, but this album is worse than that song. God, that song. It still haunts me from COVID times. Why did I have to be reminded of Timothée Chalamet fucking a peach? This music is so eh. His voice annoys me, and the instrumentals are just there. A lot is happening but kinda nothing at the same time. The only song that didn’t make me want to waterboard myself was Prairie Fire That Wanders About. It’s still far from decent, though.
How the fuck do almost all songs sound the exact same? It’s the same goddamn melody. I hate this so much. God, why did you bestow this trash upon us? Haven’t we suffered enough already? It’s also over an hour. Was that necessary? HELL NO. Even thirty minutes would’ve been too much. If you like this, good for you. Just don’t talk to me. Enjoy it by yourself.
Am I too European for an album on here again? Why was this so acclaimed? Why is this folk/indie folk, you get the picture, so fucking idolized in America? It’s some of the worst things to come out of music since rocks and sticks. Every day I wake up and thank all the gods I’m not American. Fucking Pulaski. Bad day to speak Romanian. I’m cackling like a 13-year-old boy.

I’m too young to know much about Courtney Love’s drama or why she’s so notorious, so I’m judging this purely on the music. I was already familiar with some of the songs and I do enjoy them. At a certain point, though, some of the tracks start to blend together, which I’m not really a fan of. Maybe listening to each song on its own would improve my overall opinion and rating, but hearing the album all the way through in one sitting kind of taints the experience.
Elvis Costello & The Attractions

The day has come. My fate is sealed. The dreadful moment foretold by the stars: an Elvis Costello album.
I’ve never heard a single thing from this man, but I keep seeing him mentioned in reviews. I also keep seeing that he has a shit ton of albums on here, which can only mean one thing: they’re all a steaming pile of hot garbage. I have to prepare myself emotionally, psychologically and spiritually before I listen to any of this. God, if you do exist, please have mercy on my soul. But I know that you ain’t real. Or at least not a good god. A loving god wouldn’t bestow upon his creation so many Elvis Costello albums.
Okay, first impression. His voice kind of annoys me at times. It’s nothing incredible. It’s not really my cup of tea, honestly. I’m not an expert on production, I know next to nothing about it, but I feel like his voice is too loud on some songs. I think that was the intention, but it just annoys me. I think I’m going crazy, but the way he sings doesn’t really go that well with the instruments that are played. It feels like there’s him and then the rest, and I feel like that’s true. I think I could’ve enjoyed this album if it were approached differently. Yeah, no reason for six Costello albums. I have no idea what impact this one had, but I’m sure it’s impossible for all six to be that influential.
God, do I hate Almost Blue. It may be the worst song on this album. He’s yelling over the instruments. Was this the best take? The vocals could use some polishing. The instrumentation is varied from song to song, but he still somehow sounds the same in parts. The way he sings the chorus on Kid About It makes me gag. New worst song on the album.
I don’t know how else to explain it, but throughout this entire album there are points where his voice sounds disconnected from the instrumental. He’s also trying to do some things that his voice clearly isn’t fit for. I wasn’t looking forward to hating this album. I really wanted to give it a chance. I just don’t enjoy it. Not my taste at all. It’s not the worst thing ever, but I wouldn’t bring myself to listen to this again. A Man Out of Time is the best on the album in my opinion. I fear the day the next album from him will grace me.

The archduke didnt die for this.
I only know Take Me Out. Alright song, nothing extraordinary. That's how I'd describe the whole album honestly. I don't hate it, but it doesn't have any songs that really stand out. Darts of pleasure is my favourite I suppose.
Also, it would have been funnier if the album were called Gavrilo Princip. That way you could say you're listening to Take Me Out Gavrilo Princip by Franz Ferdinand.

Rap just ain't for me like at all. I get that it has a message, but I just find it boring. Especially the earlier rap. It just blends together. I finish an album and it's just like I've listened to an hour long song. It's a genre I won't ever be able to get into. If u enjoy it congrats, have a good time listening to this cause I won't do it again any time soon.

I was confused when I saw that there were only two songs. Then I looked closer and oh god. I get that this is more common for jazz, but I just haaate it. Call me too young for only being alive during the standard 3 minute song, but it's just the sweet spot like it or not. I enjoy longer songs, but it's just such a rare occurence for me. These songs clearly don't fit into that. The songs sound pretty much the same for ALMOST 20 MINUTES STRAIGHT. I'm sorry I just can't like this at all. I'm strictly rating based on how much I like the music. I just can't repeat this experience like ever. It doesn't sound bad. he wouldn't have been that popular if it did, it's just that... it's bland? I don't feel anything listening to this. It's cool and all, maybe it works best as some waiting room background music cause the type we have now is horrible.
Final thoughts: Not interesting to me in any way, sorry.

I've never heard of these guys before. All I know is that if I were around in the 80's this woman would definitely have been one of my gay awakenings. Not anywhere close near Stevie Nicks, Kate Bush and Debbie Harry, but she would've been there somewhere. I was born in the wrong generation not because music sucks now, but because I missed my chance to fangirl over these women.
Anyway back to the album. It's nothing groundbreaking. It sounds pretty much like I would I expect. It's not BAD, but I wouldn't call myself a fan. I'm not THAT into this type of punk/rock or whatever it is. I just know there were a lot of people doing this at the time so it's nothing really incredible. It's an alright album. Kind of the same as with other many albums on this list. I don't hate it, but I don't like it enough to listen to it again. Had a good time while listening though. Just not my jam.

How are two songs making up half of the length of this album? Just how? Also I find it funny that exactly those songs have the least plays.
What the actual fuck is going on? Like in all honesty. I hated his band, Can. It seems his solo career isn't any better. I don't even have anything to say about this album. Just keep it as far away from me as possible. God I hope this is the last time I have to listen to this guy or his band or anyone else involved in the making of this trash.
Robert why did you make this list? Why? Just to see us suffer? Isn't it enough that God has cast us aside and abandoned us? WHY torment us further? If there is a hell then this list is for sure played on repeat there.

Kinda generic for the time period. Not the worst album but boring, bland and repetitive. The vocals also annoy me too much sometimes. THIRTY-SIX SONGS OH HELL NAW. I feel like people only liked this back then cuz if you bought it you BOUGHT it. You were stuck with it. You were forced to listen to it. To like it eventually. I would've given it to a friend as a gift. Well, they wouldn't be my friend anymore after that, but hey it's better than having to listen to this in full ever again.

Has some great hits on it. That said this area of rock isn't my favourite like at all. If we consider the big genres, rock is by far my all time favourite, but this glam metal sub-genre isn't to my liking that much. It has such a specific sound. Each time I hear any song that's part of it, I'm transported back to my teenage self when I would hang out with my friends at this place in my tiny town that always played this type of music. That's a bit unusual cuz I was a teenager like 5 years ago. So, hearing this album filled my nose with a powerful cig smell and my mouth with a strong beer taste.
Alright album, but it's better in smaller doses if you ask me. I'd listen to a song here and there from time to time.

Not really my type of genre. I've just never been a fan of it. Still, it's not a bad album, just not for me. All In Love Is Fair is incredible though. I love everything about it. The other songs don't come close IN MY OPINION. MINE AND MINE ALONE. The other songs are in general alright at their best and listenable at their worst. Amazing voice, amazing instruments, I just can't like it. It's kinda bland for me. Not in an insulting way, more of a won't wanna listen again anytime soon way. It's good, just not for me, but good nonetheless.

I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS. AN ALBUM THAT'S NOT AMERICAN OR BRITISH??? NOT AN OUNCE OF ENGLISH?? GOD DO YOU TRULY EXIST?? DID YOU PITY ME? FOR HAVING TO LISTEN TO ALL THAT SAME BORING 60'S AND 70'S ROCK AND FOLK AND DAMN I'M ACTUALLY GONNA CRY.
First of why is "chanson" a style? That just means song. What else can I expect from English speakers though? It's like saying Taylor Swift's style of music is song. French songs from that time are so interesting. My French teacher used to play this type of music for class all the time. How wasn't an Edith Piaf album included is beyond me, but hey there is at least a bit of French on here. I have to grab at any crumb of European diversity on here. A Romanian album is never gonna be on any list of this sort, so I have to celebrate what I can. I'm so fed up with that punk, punk rock, folk, grandpa rock. Why include an album that has two sentences on Wikipedia and the arist singing it has like 50k listeners. It's clear I'm not in need of listening to that before I die. Anyway great day, love this guy, though Stromae is my favourite Belgian singer by far.
It's a live album as well?? I've just noticed that. It's the best one I'd heard on this list. It's incredible. This guy truly is talented. More stuff like this should have been on this list, but I know that tomorrow when I wake up, another Bob Dylan album will hit me.

I feel like there is a shit ton of better Indian music that you can choose to add to this list. I'm not that into electronica, this whole album feels atmospheric for a lack of a better description. Interesting sounds, but it's just something you would hear in the background of a local cafe or tea place that's trying to go for that oriental vibe. That whole trippy, out of this world, let's take some LSD vibe if that makes sense.
It's not for me at all. It's interesting, enjoy it if you want, but I just can't get through this. It's not the worst thing ever. It bores me so fast though. Some of these songs I would barely call songs. This is the type of music they would play in American movies about India. Action movies to be specific. It's just giving me nothing. Growing up, my grandma used to be obsessed with Indian dramas(I feel like each Eastern European and Balkan get this one) and the soundtrack on those was MAGNIFICENT. Even the background extra sounds were better than this album. I'm not even gonna mention Bollywood songs. Those absolutely SLAP. Do I understand a single thing? No. Do I get up to do the Saki Saki and Sheila Ki Jawani dance each time I hear those songs? Hell yeah. And there are many more incredible bangers that India put out.
OK is the best song on this album. Soni is pretty good too. I'm actually vibing a tad bit. It's not enough to get this album out of the trash bin though. I just can't enjoy this. Just beacause you are using some traditional elements doesn't make this a masterpiece. If you wanna act so cool and different because you like music outside the English sphere, at least pick something interesting. If I hear a single person say this is their favourite Indian album I swear to god I'm gonna pull some Indian dramas type stunts on them.

For a second i thought this list was finally gonna be inclusive and feature an album that's not American or British, but once again I'm proven wrong. I'm Eastern European so I have no idea if this was a popular band/ album. That wasn't the case in my country, I can tell you that much. I mean I know Le Freak, but that's about it. I was under the impression that it was a French song all my life.
I don't care how influential this was for its time, I'm purely rating it based on how much I enjoy it. I feel like it would have been better if the songs were shorter because nothing really happens or take form throughout them. Like yeah, they sound nice, but it's the same thing for 5 minutes straight. Maybe the lack of more various lyrics in some songs also plays a part in this. I just don't feel like I gained anything after listening to this if it makes sense. It's a fine album. Groovy. Just not something I'd seek out to listen to.I enjoyed my time listening to this, I wish I could have enjoyed it even more.
