Very smooth and classy, be bop I think it is? Will return to, good way to start the day 😂. Need a few more listens to digest. Some really nice drums and trumpet on “move”.
Some really nice instrumentation, the band sounds really cohesive and in tune with one another, great mix too. Not a fan of the vocals tbh, I dont find them that interesting. The songs themselves I'm not the biggest fan of, just not my style I think. Some very nice moments with big crechendos. Reminds me of Saltburn
Fantastic! Never heard this Zep album before but I will be returning, Immigrant song is a fantastic opener, and then slowing it down with Friends was a great transition. Vocals are amazing of course, really love the strings on Friends.
Surprised by some parts of this, some really nice jams. Queen just arnt really for me still
Absolutly fantastic!!! Ive heard this one before, but probably never gave it the proper attention it deserves. Absolutly love the piano on this, aswell as the drums and sax stand out. All of the instruments blend perfectly into eachother, and everything is done with a certain amout of delicacy and patience. (Blue Rondo A La Turk is a bop)
Pretty good, will return to. Need better headphones for this one I think.
Scratched an itch I didnt even know I had
Grand, You han hear how influential it was, a little bit bland for my taste
The Smiths be like: "I'm so lonely and miserable, and nothing ever works out for me aaawwwwwaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh"
Absolutely love it.
Didnt find it very interesting, some nice moments in it for sure, but i didnt like the vocals, song structures and though alot of them came off as cheesy
AMAZING!!! I love this album and it fuzzy heavy swirling guitars throughout. Highlights were only tomorrow and in another way.
Very pleasently surprised by this one, just an all round really cool and interesting album, bass grooves are fantastic, love the guitar noodling and the vocals are really great.
This is a fascinating album, There is a few redeemable moments, such as the ending to Receptacle for the Respectable where death metal vocals are used out of nowhere, and my attention was grabbed.
While the majority of it I feel is pretty cookie cutter pop music which is just not for me, there are moments on this album that really grabbed my attention, such as on the song No Sympathy, that goes full on IDM towards the end.
Pretty good! "I Might Have Been Queen" is a great opener, "Whats Love Got to Do with it" banger, and the "Lets Stay Together" (cover or original?) was very good. Outside of that some very passable songs and a little bit forgettable imo.
Was alright, I'm not a big fan of this style of singing tbh, it just doesnt do much for me. Some nice guitar riffs, but nothing that majorly stood out to me. "YYZ" is a fantasic song and if more of the album were like this, Id have enjoyed it more. I was disappointed by "The Camera Eye", I think it started out really promising but lost me about halfway through."Witch Hunt" reminds me of Jack Black in the School of Rock haha.
Really good!, just a really fun album thats full of energy. "Have Love Will Travel" was one of those songs I never knew the name of or who it was by, really catchy! Love the vocals and how raw they are, aswell as all the screechy sax, and piano solo on "Good Golly Miss Molly" was BUSSIN. The lyrics on "Strychnine" reminds me of Viagra Boys.
I’m sure this is a great album if your into this kinda thing, I just don’t really enjoy folk music all that much.
Can’t really fault it, it does what it says on the tin. Just some really great covers. Won’t be listening again for a while now though 😂
Love this one, just good vibes and some really hard hitting lyricism. “Infamous date rape” is a very heavy hitting song. Love the boom bap drums and use of a double bass, it’s impossible not to bob your head to this one. I don’t really have anything bad to say, other than I definitely prefer midnight marauders, but that’s just a personal taste thing.
Admittedly, I only really passively listened to this album while running, however I think I’ll return to it as when I was tuning into it I really liked it
Very hit or miss, the opening track was really promising. I loved all of the song with the orchestra on them, as well as your dictionary was a cool song and the closing song was really interesting. At worst, this album is just a bit bland, but at best it’s really interesting and brings together so many different instruments.
Really good, exactly what I want first thing in the morning. Really relaxed and intertesting. Highlights were "No Other", "Strength of Strings" and "Some Misunderstanding".
Really great, absolutly love the vocals and how they are delivered.
Class! "Blackened" is such an amazing opener. Other highlights were "...And Justice For All, "One" and "They Frayed Ends of Sanity". This one did lose me at points but the vast majority of it was BUSSIN.
Not my thing tbh, I can see its appeal on a road trip, but outside of that it doesnt do much for me.
Had been looking to check this one out for a long time, so it was a pleasant surprise! Really really cool, I love so much about this, especially the big piano sections. I love the massive cacophonous moments, as well as the softer quiet ones. Also, was not expeciting to hear any vocals on this one so that was really cool. I still think im digesting this one tbh so may rating may change, I'm a bit stuck between a 4 and a 5, I think this definetely has potential to be a 5, but I dont this its registered that high for me yet, so a 4 for now.
I think I couldnt have had a worse setting to listen to this, Friday morning in the office, with the volume low(ish) so my co-workers cant hear.
This feels like the kind of album you need to crank the volume on, I genuinely could see myself really loving this album, just in a better setting. I am a little bit familliar with free jazz, but I dont think Ive heard it like this before. The drums are so thunderous on this one, and I really love the screechy saxaphones. But then when the double bass can be heard, creates slight moments of peace, and then jumps straight back into the
cacophony of sound. Im giving three stars for now, but thats more due to a poor experience, I will come back and probably revise my rating later.
I found this one to be pretty boring tbh,not really my thing at all. "Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots, Pt. 2" was pretty cool. Also the cover art is fantastic. Other than that I really wasnt interested.
Really good. The sheer amound of samples used/taken from this album that I recognised on this one was insane. Love the intro and little interludes of a big show in London. Just a great listen on a Monday morning really
One of my absolute favourite comfort listens, have heard this one countless times before, Radiohead at thei absolute best. Thom Yorks vocals are incredible, and the song structures are amazing. This is a bit of a tricky one to rate, as I dont feel it necissarily does anything wrong, but it just never reaches perfection in my head.
A really nice positive listen, plenty of feel good songs. I think this record could really use a remaster, the version I listened to on Spotify really sounds like its lacking any oomph to it. Some really nice playing and I liked the vocals. I dont feel the song "Revalation" justified its run time for me, I never found it to be interesting enough.
It was okay, some little glimmers of high points (4th Dimensional Transition was ain interesting song). I think it is pretty dependent on the big hits (Time To Pretend by far being my favourite), and tbh id say its probably just not for me.
Thoroughly enjoyed this one, my only real exposure to Aretha Franklin before was "Respect" and "The Blues Brothers". "Respect", "Drown in My Own Tears", "Good Times" & "Do Right Woman" were all fantastic tracks. Really like the singing and the band compliment everything so well. My only critique really is that theres not a whole lot of diversity, but that could be just me not not being used to this genre.
Really plesantly surprised with this one! IDK why I was so convinced I wouldnt like this going in. Really cool vocals and I love the instrumentation.
Pretty good, "Heros" is a fantastic song obviously, and I really appriciated the ambient/instrumental songs too. I do wonder if this wasnt David Bowie would I like it as much, if the name itself makes me give it more of a chance then it would otherwise. I guess we'll neva know.
I haven't heard this album in years, I used to love it when I was a teenager. Now I just don't think its for me any more, I find Kanye's lyrics and delivery to just be really awkward and honestly bad a times, the production is nice of course, but I don't feel its as ground-breaking as people would have you believe. Also, I don't really understand the appeal behind Runaway, that piano loop is so boring, and there's just not really a whole lot going on in the song I feel to earn its length. I really like blame game and Gorgeous, I think all of the songs are definitely well crafted, but I just find the majority of them to be only fine.
