Groovy shit. I really enjoy me some good classic rock & this album is so iconic. Each song is a trip of it's own, with long, meaningful intros to songs, it's definitely a memorable album. The reason I'm rating it a 3/5 however is because while I know that this album is iconic, it's also nothing super special. I've heard a lot of classic rock bands sound similar, and Boston falls into that pool of bands that don't really stand out to me much when looking at other bands from the same period. Bangers though! It was very easy and fun to listen to and it's definitely going into my collection of albums I enjoy.
2/5.
I like a good psychedelic album as much as the next person, but a lot of these songs kind of melded together and there weren't many standouts at all. I just don't like the album as a whole enough to give it a higher rating. Time Of The Season is a redemption in and of it's own.
4/5.
This is some good funk. The songs each felt unique, and the mastery over guitar and bass is insane. I felt like I was ascending with some of these songs. I got nothing else to say, this album was great.
3/5
Objectively good album, but it felt like a lot of the songs sounded very same-sy and there weren't many standouts to me personally. I wouldn't listen to much of this by myself. I've also just heard better from Jimi. So far the 60s have been a hit and miss for me.
4/5
God what an album! Bob Marley is making me appreciate reggae way more than I did previously. The lyricism, the instrumentals, the melodies. Maybe I'm just a fucking bass player but I'm enjoying the entirety of it so much. I genuinely did not think I would vibe with it so hard but here we are. Amazing album, the only downside for me personally is that the songs weren't very different from one another, but that's a personal thing rather than something inherently bad about the album.
3/5
A sampler's wet dream. While this album was huge for it's time, I feel like it's mostly just covers and nothing that really stands out to me. Giving it a 3 for cultural impact and because I'm still vibing.
3/5
One of the founding fathers of soul... This album was very good, but it became a bit like background music for me after a while. The songs sounded very similar, so I wish there was more variation. Other than that I was vibing and having a good time still, hence why I'm rating it this.
2/5
I want to like this album so bad, and there was one song I really enjoyed, but overall her voice just doesn't feel trained and became grating to me relatively quickly. The melodies were nice, though. I want to like Laura Nyro more because of everything she stood for, but I just can't. :(
3/5
Iconic BANGERS. Jolliest album from what's probably the most un-jolly man on the planet. Docked a point for the murder and because it isn't like, a masterpiece.
4/5
Banger after banger after banger. Sooo experimental and fun, an absolute joy to listen to. I already enjoyed Beck's music before but this album was a whoooole new look into his music. Only docking a point because of Novacane, it feels like he just went ham on a dial-up machine.
3/5
Every good boy DOES deserve fudge! It's a really good garage rock album from the originators of grunge, but it was a little boring at times with barely any switch-ups. It all quickly felt like the same songs, but the sound was very nice regardless. I liked Good Enough and Check-Out Time.
3/5
Objectively a really good album, but just not my cup of tea. I like a few REM songs, just not an album full of them.
4/5
The album had a bit of a boring start, with songs that sounded very similarly, but it soon melted into this wonderful mix of songs that I enjoyed immensely. I already knew 'Alright' from before, but I got blown away by the rest of this album. I'm jumping on the bandwagon and saying that Supergrass is underrated as fuck and needs more attention. I wish I could rate half points because 4 feels too low and 5 too high. I'd give it a 4.5 if I could.
2/5
Halfway through I started losing it because it all felt very same-sy and it just made me want to pull my hair out. Nice mellow tunes, though. But yeah, some variation would've been nice.
3/5
It was okay. Nothing outstanding. The vocals got a little annoying and repetitive after a while, but there was a good variety of songs. I enjoyed it but not enough to rate it any higher.
5/5
I don't hand out 5/5s very often but holy shit. Radiohead just took me through an emotional journey and a half, ripped my heart out and then stitched it back together. I'm crying. I'm shaking. I'm throwing up. But I'd go through this experience 50 times in a row WILLINGLY. I love this album so fucking much and it's one of my favourites of all time. Fuck you Thom Yorke but thank you Radiohead for this album.
3/5
It's.... fine. Nothing outstanding. It's difficult to say much about it really. It's just a fun album, but there's nothing really that special about it.
3/5
It was a very chill and nice album to listen to, but nothing really outstanding. The songs melded together quite quickly and it all felt like one big song rather than individual tracks. His voice was very nice and soothing, though.
2/5
I liked the experimental part, but I've heard better 2000s hip-hop. There were a few songs I liked, but it was overall very meh. Don't know why this is on the list.
3/5
Nice album to listen to, but it got a little samesy after a bit.
4/5
THIS is some amazing soul. Aretha had an incredible voice and her impact on music won't be forgotten anytime soon.
3/5
Real nice jazzy album. Mr Basie IS atomic.
4/5
Very fun album, you can tell that they had fun making this. The songs all stand out individually and none of them struck me as "samesy". The basslines went hard. Underrated AF.
3/5
Solid 60's album, but I feel like it doesn't really set itself apart from other 60's bands. I wish the sound was a bit more original, but otherwise it's fine.
4/5
Each song is a delight. Literally each. I had some expectations for this album and they were met. I loved feeling like an astronaut while listening to this. Definitely loved this experience and would willingly go through it again.
3/5
It's giving synth/darkwave precursor. The songs were really nice to listen to, even if a bit repetitive. I enjoyed it a lot. Frankie Teardrop definitely did some hearing damage though, so docked a point for that.
3/5
I think there's better Talking Heads albums. I think the punchy way in which the singer sang got old very quickly, and it just became background noise to me after a while. Super cute baby song though, and Take Me To The River was a salvation in and of it's own.
4/5
Ohhh this is such a close 5/5 but the album was just a tad too long to be perfect. Every song had so much personality, I LOVED hearing the influences of reggae, ska and jazz in this album. It's just a really, really good album. Also I never want to hear that atrocious Spanish again in my life.
3/5
Amazing, soothing vocals. The entire album was incredibly chill, and it was made clear the political stance it took. However, nothing jumped out at me and it was as a result, quite boring musically. I was wanting it to end after a certain point.
4/5
Nice album... lovely ballads and lyrics that make me feel warm and fuzzy inside. The album does become very one note after a while, though. But I still appreciate the lyricism a lot. I enjoyed it.
4/5
WOOOONT YOU FLYYYYYYY FREEEEEEEE BIIIIRD YEAAAAAHHH.
Good album. Good songs. This was very Southern.
3/5
Eh, it was alright. I wanted to like this more, but nothing stood out to me at all.
5/5
This album feels timeless. It's so chock full of artistry and skill, and Miles Davis has managed to completely blow me away, even though I never really delved into his work before. This album both soothed and surprised me. Wonderful experience.
4/5
Rare occassion that I'm begging for an album to continue but I just love Blur so much, and Damon Albarn's voice makes me incredibly happy. There's some bangers on this album that I've listened to a lot growing up. Blur will forever remain one of my favs. I'm only not giving it 5 points because I didn't love every song.
3/5
The production mostly saved this album for me. The lyricism was just surrounding the same theme of 'love', which is fine, but it gets a little tiring after a while. I loved the R&B-ness of it all and Mariah's voice is wonderful. No song felt the same, and that's hard to do with this genre I feel.
3/5
Very charming little album. I enjoyed it a lot but it did kind of become background music for me after a while. Still, though, very charming and I enjoyed it.
2/5
Most of this album was an excrutiating listen, mostly because of the rapey lyrics. Even though I fully understand that the main characters in the songs were meant to be the bad guy - I could barely get through this album. The last two songs made it a 2 for me instead of a 1, but never again, thank you, NEXT.
4/5
Ohhh what an interesting album. Marvin's strained relationship with sex makes this album a very compelling one that I won't soon forget.
2/5
Boring album, nothing outstanding. 2 instead of a 1 because it's still listenable, but I genuinely could not tell you any song I just heard.
4/5
Very chill album, I enjoyed each song and have added it to my list of albums I enjoy. I don't have much else to say.
4/5
AINT IT KINDA NICE, AND AINT IT KINDA GAY, WHEN YOU HEAR ME SAY I LOOOOOVES YA.
Love the Betty Boop references. Very fun album.
2/5
It was okay. A bit boring and samesy, but it wasn't terrible.
