To use the phrasing of the person who suggested this record: Am I biased against users who hate hip hop? - You bet I am. And the stupid and heavyhanded auto-tuned "alt-rock" dross they chose for this list isn't helping. I swore to myself I wouldn't add a word after listening to the first two horrible tracks of this thing, but then "Cradled In Love" assaulted my ears. This is not a singer performing here, this is a total fraud. And the song is just so bad. The addition of those two elements probably make it one of the worst pieces of music I have ever heard in my life. Maybe THE worst piece of music I have ever been subjected to. I'm deadly serious here. The rest simply returned to the "normal" levels of the first two tracks (i.e. "normally" terrible). Amazing how often the supposedly "picky" users in here (2.77 average rating for the global list for this one) actually reveal the extent of their *shitty* music tastes when they make their own selection. Oh the irony. Alexander, please... I want to be able to skip albums in the users list. *Please*. 0/5 for the purposes of this list dedicated to essential albums 3/10 for more general purposes (3/5 for the musicianship and production values + 0/5 for the artistry). Number of albums from the original list I find relevant enough to be mandatory listens: 465 Albums from the original list I *might* include in mine later on: 288 Albums from the original list I won't include in mine: 336 ---- Number of albums from the users list I find relevant enough to be mandatory listens: 78 Albums from the users list I *might* select for mine later on: 98 Albums from the users list I won't select for mine: 194 (including this one) ---- Émile, tu trouveras ma dernière réponse sous le *Inside* de Bo Burnham

Wow these guys know their way around a rock ballad! I love the orchestral arrangements and that little bit of cheese-infused rock that hits me just right. Ok, Cradled in Love may be pushing the limits for sugar-infused rock ballads - but I’m a sucker for an orchestral finish and some soaring vocals. Sure it’s melodramatic… but I’m up for some melodrama at times. Some great Phil-Collins-inspired drums in songs like The Distance (with its almost 80s feel and that catchy dance beat!). Great use of key changes. Nice bridges. The mix sounds great! That ending too - The Happy Song is a crazy little twist at the end that I added to my Halloween playlist. This album gave me much enjoyment. I’m not going to play it to impress any of my musical snob friends, but I’m quite happily enjoying it.

This started out really strong but drifted into Euro-orchestra rock territory.

An alt rock's alt rock album. Pretty much every song sounds like it could be in the NHL 2k13 soundtrack.

Nothing particularly against this, but it was all a little slick and sentimental. An edge less hone. Also a bit of that wierd affect that Scandanavian rockers writing and singing in basically accentless English get - all a bit uncanny valley.

Late highschool early college me would have absolutely loved this album. Unfortunately for 2026 James, this type of music has completely fallen off of my enjoyment radar unless they are songs that I already knew. Very sad boi music. The Happy Song at the end was very randomly weird and good though.
