Surrealistic Pillow
Jefferson AirplaneBest songs were when Grace Slick was lead vocals. If she was the main vocalist on all the tracks it would’ve gotten a higher score
Best songs were when Grace Slick was lead vocals. If she was the main vocalist on all the tracks it would’ve gotten a higher score
I feel anxious listening to this
I would say its at least twice as good Blood and Chocolate so that makes it a 6 on a 5 star scale? I feel like this album has a ton of personality and is fun to listen to. A variety of sounds that all still carry Elvis's style without being an album of songs that all sound the same
Just a wild ride throughout. Not a particularly great album but its not supposed to be. Its supposed to be loud, weird and fun which it absolutely nails. Went in with low expectations bc all the jokes about Meatloaf, but turns out I was taking myself too seriously with my expectations. Actually I take back what I said about it not being good. Its very good musically and just fun overall. This would be my third album on a desert album if it was just a bit longer.
The first album we have gotten that I have listened to all the way through before this project. The way they pair two songs for the middle four tracks(plus Jesus and Homecoming both have 5 subtracks in them) is a cool concept and helps underline the bands desire to put out something they enjoyed creatively rather than something that would necessarily do well commercially - luckily this did both. I mean Punk Rock Opera? Nostalgia+Strong Songs+Creativity= 5 stars
Its almost okay, but it just gets weird for most of the songs. Can see where they turn into a good band eventually but its not there yet.
Starts strong but then the bottom really falls out in the second half as it gets more into the psych rock parts to the point I paused the album in order to find the next one to listen to. 2.5 but rounding down
Strange Brew and Sunshine are huge at the start. Both are great tracks, most of the rest of the songs were good to fine. Probably a 3.5 that I am rounding down
Every songs pretty similar to me, its at least a good sign but its so hard when the songs all compare so close to one another and really just get worse as the album goes on
Was impressed, but I guess not super surprised at the consistency and production quality of this album. I think it is mainly comparing this to some of the other albums from the list so far. There are the main tracks I have heard before, but even towards the end of the album like Queen Bitch stood out
Didnt really hold my attention. Each song had little bits where I thought it would turn around but none ever got there
The Boss is my godfather's favorite artist so I tried to listen in high school and didnt really enjoy it much. Now on this re-listen with more mature ears, I really enjoy the sound. Thunder Road and Born to Run are obvious stars but 10th Ave Freeze Out was probably my favorite.
I tried to get into it but not my style. I could have it on the background while working for a bit but some tracks made their self known too much
I really tried on this one. Just not my scene at all. Maybe listening to Slipknot while stressed at work was also a bad plan overall
So close to being very good. Some of the synth is just a bit off/jarring but I can see the influence/precursor to some of the music I like now. Full disclosure: I wrote my notes before listening to Frankie... Its a 10 min experience I was not expecting, but am somehow not surprised by
Solid listen. Nothing super jumped out at me like it was a great song but nothing made me want to skip the track. Probably won’t search out again or be able to say “hey I’ve heard this song before”
Another solid album, but not something I would seek out. Some Kinda Love was the standout track for me, vocals were fine, but really enjoyed the guitar throughout. The Murder Mystery was an adventure and was not ready for the jump. At least it wasnt as unexpected as Frankie Teardrop
By far the best album on the list so far. Fell off a bit for me at the very end, but very solid throughout. Plus if its good enough for Yo, Gabba Gabba! Its good enough for me.
Surprised by the album and how much I enjoyed it. Always excited to recognize a song (as someone with not much of a music background) so enjoyed Coconut when it came on, but also liked it a lot more than I expected. Good tunes all around.
Fine album, lost it in the background most of the time. Really enjoyed the run in the middle of Free Money before it really picks up and finishes strong
I like the sound, but every song sounds the same. I have knocked some other albums a bit for weird songs towards the end of the album that didnt quite work, but at least Frankie Teardrop was SOMETHING different. Plus what I know from Elvis Costellos other work it also sounds much the same. Would give this a 3.5 because it is least good the same.
I can see why some folks like this but not for me. The "haunting" sound of the vocals were just not my cup of tea and if thats not for you neither is Joy Division.
Interesting album although hip hop/rap isnt really my thing. Enjoyed People Everyday
Cinnamon Girl makes this a solid 3, but outside of Everbody Knows nothing else really makes an impression. I think there is a certain time and place for this album but thats definitely not sitting in my apartment on a workday
Overall non-offensive sound; sounds perfect for either the intro or outro credit for a movie depending on the track. Makes me want to stare out of a window of a bus as I take a long journey. Lazy Days and Angels are Outro, South of the Border and Let Me Entertain You are Intro credits. Old Before I Die is the where the kids ended up 35 years later in the coming of age block buster of the summer.
TRAIN! Enjoy the sound in general, but nothing stands out as one of the top 1001 albums to listen to before you die. Maybe this is an example of the Britpop genre in general. Hidden tracks were a cool bit, especially with Intermission being in Baby Driver (which it fit well). Would be happy to have these tracks come on the radio or a shuffle playlist but wouldnt seek them out. 3.5 but rounding down
A bit frustrating, but only because its so close to being really good. I think its the dance influence that throws me off. Album brings me back to my first job which was basically a Hot Topic in an amusement park and it was around the time this album came out so I probably listened to a few of these songs
Another fine album? More misses than hits for me slightly which is always hard when I know the band does have a number of good songs. Surprisingly liked Synchronicity I which gave me hope for the rest of the album but fell short overall
Meh, nothing stands out really but its a decent sound throughout. Nothing too great nothing too bad. The lots of short tracks at least keeps it interesting
Very glad I had headphones for this album. Loved the way the songs built into The Weight. Especially on my second listen through. The story of both the album and The Band are amazing as well. The fact that both are considered so influential but take their name from the fact they were the backing band for Boy Dylan and then where they recorded most of these songs show the focus on the music rather than the marketability of the group.
Intro to Back in the Saddle is a great hype for the album, everything else was solid but nothing spectacular
Similar to other folks, its just a generic Indie sound and not one that I particularly enjoyed
Listened through once on my laptop speakers and was unimpressed. Gave it a second listen through on headphones and the difference is night and day! The strength of this album comes from the power of the guitar and drums and also the storytelling and lyrics both of which benefit greatly from being able to hear. Was surprised at how funny some of the stories were. Not a fan of this being a live album, but its impressive a live album made it onto the top 1001 albums of all time. 3.5 stars but rounding down bc live album
Its a good album but the sound isnt super my jam. The vocals are incredible and the orchestra is great (wikipedia has the genre as orchestra pop). Could be just me getting used to the headphones Interesting how short this album is compared to other albums on the list, but that could just mean there is less fluff?
You cannot convince me this isnt a parody album of Britpop. Heavy Synth sounds and decent music, but the vocals are almost nonsensical. Particularly the Shopping-Rent-Hit Music run in the middle. The fact that Shopping is often used on British Shopping Channels makes it seem like the song was produced for that purpose rather than the song coming first.
Interesting that the album/image I most associate with DB but I dont recognize any of the songs on the album at first glance. For someone that has 8-9 albums on this list I have high expectations for them all and this fell short. It was fine? Enjoyed it a bit more on the second listen through. Watch That Man was a solid track and gave me hope for the rest of the album, and I did recognize the Jean Genie once it came on, but once again if you are David Bowie, you have to impress me more than this
I can see where Pink Floyd turns into an all time band from this album, but more potential than execution on this. Also big name bands have higher expectations in my book
Nothing stand out super strongly, it would be okay if it came on shuffle some how for most tracks as a change of pace but wouldnt seek it out nor would want it coming up too often
Not sure why Respect is on here twice but I think they know that they were doing. Loved just having Aretha belting in the background as I went about my day.
Our first album on the Global Top Ten and this one actually fits the hype. Songs are solid throughout and a wide variety of sounds because the different members will take the lead on different songs. I know understand a bit more why the Beatles have their own radio station and why people debate who their favorite Beatle is.
Meant to use the Tribe Called Quest review for this one as I was playing catch up but they both stand about the same for me. Suprisingly enjoyable compared to what my typical taste is, wouldnt seek out but could enjoy when it comes on
Again, loved the sound and instruments on this but fact it kept me from fully getting into the music. When the English verse of Imagine came on, it really showed the power of his voice and Noa (the female vocalist). The English and my knowledge of the song helped ease me into the rest of the album and I ended up enjoying it a lot. Great use of horns on Trigue Lycee and Ya Aachkou is an absolute bop. Total surprise for me, especially enjoyed the second half of the album. Really a 4.5 for me but going to round up
Love the guitar through most of this album. Lyrics and vocals are average and tend to break my focus when they take center stage on the song. Caught myself thinking this part sounds like XYZ band a couple times, which I realized it was actually just that band sounding like Sonic Youth which was a cool realization.
Not typically my cup of tea but enjoyed it more than I thought I would
Just a wild ride throughout.
Similar to others, the hits are HITS but the other songs were a little lackluster. Luckily more hits than misses. 4 overall
Not sure why I am having a hard time getting into this album. I think I want to like the Beastie Boys more than I actually do. Fine album overall, interesting sound but not one I could listen to very long for one time, but luckily they changed it a few times throughout
Strong start but loses me towards the second half of the album. Once the song part of Does Anyone Really Know What Time It Is? came on i really enjoyed it, but there was a lot of odd instrumentals throughout the album. Free Form Guitar was just jarring
Somewhat boring and lackluster. She sounds great and there are some high points (Second Half of Lonely Woman for example) but was hard to get through the whole album
Fine overall? Nothing really stood out, but I would be fine if this came on a shuffle every so often. Really enjoyed Happy House, but it was over almost as soon as it started
Listened to the UK version (because that was the Album art on this thing) and it was disappointing to not have their biggest song on the list. Was overall fairly mediocre. I can see how this leads to some of their and other artists works, but this was just not one I enjoyed much
Boring and inoffensive. I listened to it around 1.5 times skipping around and kept forgetting I had it on in the background.
Completely disappears into the background but not in a bad way, similar to Tom, I wouldnt be disappointed if this came on while just hanging out with friends where the music is not the most important thing. The talent of the artist(s) on the tracks is apparent throughout
Really enjoyed this album. Interesting to read this album was didnt sell well but was loved by critics; I love me some Steely Dan, but this is more Solid than Spectacular, 4 stars with My Old School being the standout
Flashes of decency, but just weird post-punk vibes throughout. The flashes keep it at a 2 for me. Caligari's Mirror is a jam, but they will mix in more artsy discordant riffs that throw me off
Enjoyed this album; melted into the background for me throughout in a good way and was just a pleasant listen. Would be a nice record to have on in the background but not actually pay attention to. 3.5 but rounding down bc no standouts
Good rock album but nothing super noteworthy for me
Solid album throughout. While nothing stands out above the rest as an incredible song, it doesnt drop off at the end like some albums tend to do. Lots of the songs sounded very similar which leads to the solid throughout;
Thoroughly enjoyed this album. The upbeat sound throughout really carried this for me. his vocals were kept me interested despite the language barrier on most tracks and otherwise I could just listen to his guitar and get into a groove
Its always refreshing to recognize the first song off an album, particularly when you are not expecting it. I Will Dare was definitely the standout on the album. 3.5 but going to round up because nothing else grabbed me like the first song but still good overall
Another great album. Enjoyed the Suite II tracks much more than Suite III. Upbeat tracks. I think Emily talked about this at some point, but the fact that an album from 2010 made the list shows how standout it is.
Another fine album I guess? Nothing really stands out. I enjoyed Odessa It sounds like another song that I cant put my finger on, but I am sure its just the sound from the era?
Fine album, sort of faded into the back groud. Marquee Moon was a good track, but part of that might just be to me recognizing it
The sound is okay, but its just SO SLOW. It is not a great album to listen to the day after DST kicks in. I did not get through the whole album for fear of falling asleep. Its salvages a 2 star because it is not bad musically, I can tell the vocals and instrumentation is pretty good despite the sleep inducing overall product
Interesting how 1001 Albums lists the artist as Paul McCartney but Spotify lists it as Wings - 1001 Albums knows why people are interested in the album. I was surprised to recognize the first two songs. Jet was a great track and Mrs Vandebilt was a good surprise as well
43 songs on one album? Nothing particularly noteworthy but it was fine overall? An interesting concept and decent execution none the less. Props for at least trying something weird and doing okay with it
Fine album. Its weird that The Smiths have such a unique sound that the my first thought 5 seconds into the first song was " Ahh yes, this is such a quintessential Smiths track" despite only listen to them once or twice before
American Pie always trips me up because the first version of the song I heard was the Weird Al Star Wars version so thats the original somehow in my mind. That being said American Pie is SUCH a good song. Does a great job of blending the upbeat and slower sections. McLean does much better with uptempo so Everybody Loves me, baby was the other standout for me. American Pie gets this a 4 by itself but none of the other songs can tick it up higher
Very close to being a very good album for me but misses the mark. Needs a bit more something somewhere in the music. Also only 34 minutes? It needs more to get more stars
After our group convo, every time a Post-punk album comes on I get a trainwreck like excitement. I know what I am about to witness is terrible but I cannot look away. Public Image is actually not bad and you can tell the people involved can put out pleasing music but choose not to
Liked it more than I though but that still only warrants a 3 star
Interesting that her two big songs from this album are the last two tracks (at least what is listed in her Popular tracks on Spotify) and they are the two best tracks. Paper Planes is a jam and nothing else on the album quite captures that for me. Mango Pickle was cool with the kids on the track
Fine album, but nothing too noteworthy throughout. Been Caught Stealing was the only song I knew going in and even that is just fine
Surprised by how many of these songs I recognized. Shows how important this album is culturally. Enjoyed it more than I thought, would be nice to have on in the background when trying to feel fancy. Also enjoyed the different turns of phrase that existed 70 years ago
Nothing stands out and its so short! Probably a three for being meh but gets a 2 because of the lack of songs
I would say its at least twice as good Blood and Chocolate so that makes it a 6 on a 5 star scale? I feel like this album has a ton of personality and is fun to listen to. A variety of sounds that all still carry Elvis's style without being an album of songs that all sound the same
Overall fine, instruments (4 star) were much better than the vocals (2 star for the most part) so averages to a 3
Another album that I was surprised how many songs I recognized - although not always Dusty's version. I believe she did a bunch of covers and also covered things. Probably 3-3.5 stars for the music itself - would be a nice album to have on in the background where it is nice to listen to but can also just be nice noise to have around, with a round up for impact
Beginning of Hello, I thought the whole album was just going to sound like Wonderwall, but then it has the weird cut and then went into a different but still good sound. As Emily said, unexpectedly good album based on the "meme status" of Wonderwall.
Almost really like it, but there is just not enough to get above a 3/3.5. Instruments are good and vocals are fine but nothing jumps off the page and its a shorter album. If you are going to only have 6 songs there is not much room for filler
Solid all around, but no real stand outs
Interesting how many of these albums are "genre defining" - makes sense given the list and how they would be considered some of the best albums of all time, but also weird to think "Glam Rock" was invented by one album
Very Lenny Kravitz album. Mr. Cab Driver is a good song
Fine album, nothis super turned me off from it but nothing stood out as super good in any way
Liked the horns in Show Me. Felt like the filler or transitions were better than the actual songs
Skits are interesting and unique but very off. Was surprised at first that most of the tracks had very few listens compared to I Can See for Miles (everyone has 16+ million fewer listens). The songs that are ACTUAL songs are mostly good. I still like Tattoo and I Can See for Miles is one of the most listened to for a reason.
Surprised how many songs I recognized. Will be likely to put this on more so than most other albums we have listened to
There is a reason Groove is in the Heart has 110 million more streams than any other song on the album. Def caught lightning in the bottle there. The single song is enough to get it onto the list but not to get it higher than a 3
Love some Dolly, not the best of her album but solid all around. 3.5 but rounding up
Interesting jump from guy who wrote the Toy Story Music to Rednecks, but still retains the same sound in both sounds. Rednecks is a too long of a convo for this review, but its definitely a song worth listening to, thinking and having a convo about
Thats a no from me. Not bad but not good either
I really like the Black Keys (although they gave one of the worst festival shows I have seen). Solid album throughout with Sinister Kid being the late album standout for me.
A little to soft spoken indie for me. Me and the Major was the standout.
3.5 but rounding down; 3 bangers, but not much from the other tracks
Enjoyable but not something I would likely seek out. Sounds like something Tom would put on and I would be pleasantly surprised by liking. Slightly disappointed when I learned it was "Selfdestructo Bust" not "Selfdestructo Bus" and a song about the movie Speed
Its definitely good, but also its not super noteworthy. I kept it on for a while but would forget that I am actually listening to something as I went about my day bc it just blended into the background. I am sure this is also influential enough and unique enough to warrant a spot on the 1001 list
I love this project because of how much it shows off certain artists and how they are up my alley. Elvis is a perfect example of this. His voice is incredible and there is a reason he is called the King. Album starts strong even with lesser known longs. Middle gets a bit tiring, but Suspicious Minds is incredible. Side note: One of my first CDs was the Lilo and Stitch soundtrack which is half Elvis!
Just not my jam, although I think I am far from the target audience
Technically impressive, but something is still not great for me. I feel like I would have a better appreciation for the album if I had more musical knowledge
Not sure "maybe the first album made on E" makes this album noteworthy of being on this list. I think this album really shows the brit-rock bias of this list. Close to being decent for me but something is scratchy almost about most songs throws me off. 2.5 but rounding down
Solid album, but missing a bit of polish. Needs another solid song or two or maybe even a remaster would do it. Everlong came on right after the album and it shows how good Foo Fighters can be. 3.5 but rounding down
Good but there wasn’t one song that really drew me in
Same as the Foo Fighters Album. I like it a lot but its not as good as I know he can be so there are some missing points there.
I feel bad rating another big name so low, but not a super big fan. The guitar is fine but Morissey's voice loses me in most songs. Like its good but its so soft and unique in a way I guess I do not appreciate like some other people in this group do (I am assuming)
Did not like this. Kurt is very mumbly, which may be endearing to some but not to me and the acoustic set losses some of the edge I normally associate with Nirvana
A fine album but again nothing too note worthy. Would not search it out but would be fine if it came on at like a restaurant or something
Pretty good album. Brown Sugar was a great track and liked Crusin’ more than I was expecting. A good mellow sound throughout. Shit, Damn, Motherfucker is an A+ name for a song
Shining Star is such a great start to the album. Trails off a bit at the end but would def seek out again.
Another meme-y band that people make fun of because they are good and then got big and mainstream and it became cool to make fun of them. Not exactly my speed, but you can still tell there is talent here and a reason they were big
Best songs were when Grace Slick was lead vocals. If she was the main vocalist on all the tracks it would’ve gotten a higher score
Should’ve left this as did-not-listen
Really solid album throughout. I like that they had multiple people contribute to the songs which give all of the tracks a slightly different sound but you can tell they are all related. Definitely putting on my list to come back to
My dad loves James Brown so I listened to him quite a bit growing up. This album is good not great especially compared to what I know it could be
Salvages a three because its so close to being good. Some of their artistic choices making it see more disjointed than it needs to be. Feels a bit like my head is spinning listening to this album. Worth maybe giving another shot later
Good but not great. I like the sound, but enjoyed the more upbeat songs like Four Flights Up a lot.
Much much better than I anticipated. Almost gets an extra star for being a decent post punk album but a 3 is good enough for them
Great album. Like someone else said, it is other other features and influences that make this album so great. Not sure if that just speaks to Kayne's ability as a producer or use his clout to get big names and upcoming stars on his record (or if they use his clout for their gain)
Its hard for this to come right after MBDTF because this is better so should probably get above a 5 somehow but thats not how this works
Its a good album but odd that a movie soundtrack made this list. I think the importance of the album speaks to its high ranking. Had head Theme From Shaft before and its interesting to learn more about it. 3.5 but rounding up for influence.
Its okay but the repetitive sections very quickly become grating and knocks off most of the bright spots about the album
Solid 4. Lots of good songs that I would enjoy if they came on, but not much I would seek out on their own
Scratches that exact type of country music I like. More rock than country but still a solid country twang
Music and voice alone are not enough to keep me around to listen to the lyrics. Has to do more for me to stick around for long
Slow and crooning. Something you would put on to impress a date, but not listen to besides that
Bones are surprisingly good. Feels like making a nice dinner and then just throwing any condiment on top except the ones that make sense just for fun.
Loved the beats and vibe of the album much more than I was expecting. Missing the special something to get it to a 5 but listened through it a couple of times through before rating rather than moving onto a diff album so that gets it a 4
Reminds me of a less good Meatloaf some how. Needs to be more ballad-y and weird and it would be good
Weird but a fun listen
Killing Me Softly in almost enough to get a 4 on its own here. I like the weird little version of it at the end of Family Business that lead straight into the normal version. Some good, some fine across the rest of the album
Its solid Elvis but no standouts other than the Fever cover.
Album cover and name are an easy 5*, Songs are good weird Devo tracks so only makes it to a 4 overall
Meh? Its not great. not sure what makes this one of the best albums of all time
Better than I thought from the name and the album art, but cant tell if this is just a better/more influential album in a genre I cannot appreciate or just a mediocre album.
Each track is bouncy and full of energy. Great listen I Got a Woman was a surprise to pop up for sure and recognized other tracks from not Elvis
Slow and almost haunting lyrics. Not anything I latched on to, but nothing that was bad either
Something is weird about live albums to begin with, but having three different shows throws me off a bit more AND to have multiple versions of the same song is even more off (all three versions of Black Night?)
Its a good album overall. Deserving of being on the list, but not a stand out for me
Although as a certified NUMTOT, I am not "Fond of tha Autobahn" - which is what I assume the "lyrics" to this song are. I did like this song more than I thought. Even that only manages to get it a 3.5
Enjoy old country a lot and think the historic importance of this album helps elevate it to a 4 for me.
Such a strong start with Dont Stop and Rock with You, but the rest of the songs start to sound the same. Gets a 4 bc they are good and as Tom put it, some of the albums on this list are much more questionable, but really a big name artist 3.
Slow soft rock, easy listening and a decent album, List worthiness comes from influence
Cincinnati representing... wish it was a decent album
Incredible start, but then nothing else on the album quite holds up to Immigrant song. One more banger makes this an easy 5
Its a great album. The swearing, violence, misogyny, etc are a bit off putting and over the top but I am not sure if it would be good without it.
Good to know the Beatles are not exempt from a Sophomore slump.. Big reps mean high standards, and this is just average. Also annoying as I usually listening with one headphone out for work so I had to restart a couple times
Lots of average EC on here, Pump It Up is a great song and Radio, Radio has an interesting case for one of the better last songs on an album. Usually its just junk at the end
Odd to find a Jazz song that I recognize and know that name of but a pleasant surprise. A nice listen throughout and speaks to a more impactful song with Take Five being the most successful album of all time
Love the album. Great start, but still enjoy the back half.
I think this was said about U2 or some other band (maybe it was Coldplay as well) but because they became so "meme-ified" and main stream, you forget they had to be good first to go big. Very surprised at how much I enjoyed the album, especially the tracks that I hadnt listened to before
Low hopes for a pop-punk album called "Infected" but was surprisingly okay with it. Not sure if that was just me setting the bar too low
Does a great job at highlighting Frampton, unfortunately for me thats only meh. Some are good but an album full is a bit much
Third instrumental album I have listened to in a row (Out of order catch up) its fine but not my jam. Gets the round up for track names.
I feel anxious listening to this
Name def suits the music. Even though it was better than expected and likely influencial-ish, it still sounds just kinda like background music on a loading screen or something
Better than expected, the vocals are good and you can see the talent very clearly; however I get overwhelmed easily by the sound
Loved to be able to just disappear into the music for a bit
Elvis C is Elvis C but does not need a million albums on this list. True Elvis C is a 3* fine album, but tempted to dock just for how many albums are on the list
Weird but never quite makes it to good weird.
Meh. Maybe influential on music outside of my taste. At least it was somewhat listenable
Think this is one of the only albums on the list that I listened to all the way through before this project (shows my musical knowledge). Would rate a 5 without listening, but worth the relisten to hear again
Hits are hits, but everything else is a bit lackluster. Rounding up because Blue Paul Giamatti
Probably a 4 for me overall, but the intro to highway star as the intro for the album bumps it up to a 5. Loved the back half of Lazy
The hits are hits, but the slow songs turn me off too much. If it was an album all of "You Outta Know, it would be my jam"
The good tracks are good, but dont have a taste for the rest of the album. More personal preference, and still deserves a spot on the list
Lots of bops and different-ish vibes from the songs.
Great sounds that you can lose yourself in and out of. Songs tend to blur together a bit
Meh? Gets an extra star for the song names
Meh - I like the general vibe, but not their best album
You can tell what the good songs are vs the filler. Highs are high, lows are meh
Its good and a unique enough sound, but not overly great outside of the one or two big tracks.
Instant 5 for "The Last of the Stream-Powered Trains" - T/E should not be surprised
Its fine, but is it really good enough to be included so soon after release?
I am not sad enough for this album apparently... Gonna give it a 3 because its not bad, but the songs seemed to drag on
No different than any of the other albums of his on here.1-2 is fine but I feel like we have had 4-5 already
Stars pretty good. Another example of not recognizing a popular song when loading the album and then going "Oh shit, thats that one song". Really falls off at the back half
Why are they all on one side of the album art? Why do they have two different songs about hills? First three songs are p good but then falls off after that (I wonder what this project would look like if you only rated the hits from each album)
Bangers off the top. The later songs get a bit much but still a great listen
It was fine and I mostly forgot it was playing in the background and then "Don't" came on. Lost a star for that alone.
Fun album, well outside my normal sphere. Interesting to hear how many sections I recognize from other songs - be it sampling something from here or both tracks sampling something else
Peaks early and then trails off at the end
Solid and fun album. No songs I recognize, but its the album art that I was able to immediately recall (I think it was used in the movie promo or something). Hard to compare some of the lesser known tracks from a big band to other artists. What is a 4 for Queen could be different for someone else
Much better than I expected. Easy to just fade into background, but then you would pick up on a wild scenario from one of the ballads and get pulled back in. Also this dude raced in NASCAR for fun?
Great start and end and solid middle. Would agree with Tom's 4.5 on average so getting a 4 to get the combo score
Easy 5. Lots of good tracks of the top and then some decent songs and then reelin in the years as the middle track. Great songs and great mix of order
