It has some highlights but is definitely weaker than Elephant and White Blood Cells. Still — the White Stripes will always have a high floor!

Probably the weakest of the 3 90s Massive albums, but still really solid. The title track is absolutely gorgeous

It’s the White Album for Gen X. Sure, it’s a little bloated, but it’s shocking how little filler there is for a 2 HOUR ALBUM. Mid 90s Billy Corgan really had the juice

A masterpiece. Legitimately a top-10 album of all time for me. Catch me on the right day and I’d call it the greatest British album ever made.

I like the songs individually, but as a 50+ minute listen it gets a bit repetitive tbh.

Half interesting sophisti-pop/new wave, half super bland yuppie music (minus the bulletproof hooks of something like “Valerie” or “Higher Love”)

I love Bjork’s 90s albums, but this kind of just felt like a slog for me. Sorry — I just don’t have the patience for an album of 6+ minute ballads with no hooks!

Interesting but not remotely entertaining for me

It’s second-tier REM for sure, but that’s still better than most bands’ top tier! A great transitional work from their obtuse jangly 80s stuff to their more widescreen 90s albums. (Also, “Stand” is a banger and I won’t accept any slander)

Surprised I didn’t love this, since I’m a big Blur fan. But idk…it was maybe a bit *too* pastoral and gentle for me. Good songwriting though!

I could understand including American Pie *the song* in a list of 1001 songs you must hear. Not my favorite, but it’s a very important, very iconic tune. But the whole ALBUM? Hell nah. This thing is just bland early 70s easy listening. The kind of Boomer music that’s rightfully been forgotten.

The beats are fun and the flows are solid, but idk about some of these lyrics, man. My least favorite thing about the backpack rap era is how way too many songs are just dissing other, more popular rappers. And not even in a fun way! It sounds like scolding!

A little long and preachy, but I do enjoy some righteously angry Public Enemy-style rap. (Just in smaller doses!)

Probably my favorite Stevie album! So much sonic variety, so many bangers and gorgeous ballads. Living For the City may be his best song!

Maybe my favorite Stones album?? Tons of variety, from lowkey gorgeous ballads to fiery rockers to some groovy jam sessions.

I enjoy Sex on Fire and Use Somebody as much as the next millennial, but MAN is the rest of this album a bore. Just feels like generic “rock” without any excitement.

The first half of this album is phenomenal, top-tier Lana. It’s a shame the second half is so bland and forgettable!

I feel bad giving this such a low rating — but it’s just hard for me to get excited about rock music *this* old school and primitive. Little Richard was an insanely talented dude who was so, so important to music history, but I have no desire to listen to all of these songs back-to-back-to-back. I’d rather watch a live concert video of him doing his thing!

Kind of a weird pick for this list. It’s a typical “pretty good follow up to a classic” record. Hello is an absolute monster though — love that song!
