Young Americans by David Bowie
Jun 20 2023

The 9th studio album from David Bowie, released in 1975. Well mixed, casual funk/soul throughout.

Moondance by Van Morrison
Jun 21 2023

His third studio album, released in 1970. Mellow, clean compositions, really well mixed, and produced himself. Varied instrumentation used to create solid rhythms and flow through the blues, soul, jazz, pop, and folk sounds. A mix of his ballad and rambling vocals throughout the album, but the backing vocals bring so much depth.

Rust Never Sleeps by Neil Young & Crazy Horse
Jun 22 2023

A mix of live/studio album from 1979. The odd highlight such as the opening track but overall - just whelmed. I'll check out the more acclaimed albums for a better idea.

Doolittle by Pixies
Jun 23 2023

Second studio album released in April 1989. Great opening into further loudness and noisy, raw sound early on. Can see where later 90s/00s bands get their sound from. There's a nice variation of styles and intensity throughout but the album feels less cohesive as at whole and seems more like scattered tracks. The grungy guitar tone is filthy, lots of highlight tracks.

Joan Armatrading by Joan Armatrading
Jun 26 2023

Third studio album released in 1976. It's so groovy, funky and tight. The instrumentation varies throughout but always leaving vocals at the top of mix. Overall it just sounds like a huge amazing jam session.

Elephant by The White Stripes
Jun 27 2023

Their fourth studio album released in 2003. Hard blues rock with incredible crunchy guitar tones, punchy percussion and story telling that brings you to the scene. The main track standouts are Seven Nation Army (ofc) and In the Cold, Cold Night. I do love a lot of Jack Whites work but this album falls a little flat for me with a few too many tracks I could miss.

Californication by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Jun 28 2023

The seventh studio album released in 1999. An album in desperate need of a remaster, the musicianship in this band is second to none and deserves more. The album opens phenomenally strong for the first 7 songs (mainly singles), then Porcelain marks a change of energy far too jarring for the circumstance. The 3rd quarter of the album is a little flatter than the rest but it picks up again for the outros.

Signing Off by UB40
Jun 29 2023

Debut album released in 1980. It's a mellow listening experience with politically-concerned lyrics that are still relevant 40 years later. It's hard to feel like the album goes anywhere, there's a lack of direction or variety which feels like a drag when the albums over an hour long.

Hot Fuss by The Killers
Jun 30 2023

Debut album released in 2004. You can’t ignore the heavy hitting singles on this album that justifies its popularity. The album does drift off beyond those tracks.

Jul 03 2023

Third studio album released in 1965. Mainly soul covers. Pleasant overall, but nothing jumps out at all.

Green Onions by Booker T. & The MG's
Jul 04 2023

Debut album released in 1962. While you can't fault the opening title track, the rest of the album drifts off in a feeling of rinse and repeat.

Songs From The Big Chair by Tears For Fears
Jul 05 2023

Second studio album released in 1985. This is an amazing album is full of huge hits and massive iconic soundscapes.

Jul 06 2023
Led Zeppelin IV by Led Zeppelin
Jul 10 2023

Fourth studio album released in 1971. Phenomenal musicianship.

Ten by Pearl Jam
Jul 11 2023

Debut studio album released in 1991. A good album.

Jazz Samba by Stan Getz
Jul 13 2023

Bossa Nova album released in 1962. I know very little about jazz, I enjoy it every time I get a jazz album but I'm unfamiliar with where to begin appreciating it. That being said, this is a super pleasant listening experience and one I'd listen to again.

...And Justice For All by Metallica
Jul 19 2023

Fourth studio album released in 1988. The harmonic guitars are so good. The let down is obviously the lack of any bass coming through. The album just sounds completely flat. I'm a fan of an album full of long tracks.
