GUY-“What are you doing?” GUY 2-“I'm making a list of the 1001 greatest albums of all time” GUY-“How’s it going?” GUY 2-“OK. The only genre I don’t have represented is garage rock/house music.” GUY-“Well my cousin is making an album in his basement…”
This returned a marginally better result than the last time the Germans and the Japanese hooked up. “Can” make an album. “Can” get it released. “Can” get it played. Can’t make me enjoy it. 1.5
3.5 of this album was 12 songs could’ve been a high 4.
Great album. Great musicianship.
Nobody can deny the musical genius of David Crosby. However I feel like what this album was lacking is more Stills, Nash and Young.

If I was rating this just based on my enjoyment of the music it would be 1 out of 5. However there is no denying that Keith Jarrett is extremely talented so I’ll give it a 3. The music itself is as if someone was trying to come up with a soundtrack to a Peanuts remake but they couldn’t afford the licensing for the original music. Perhaps the worst thing to happen in Germany since WW2.
I shouldn’t be surprised anymore when I like a David Bowie song. I have yet to find one I don’t like. He’s such a versatile songwriter/musician.
I got to hear it. Don’t have to fear it. This album contains one of the greatest songs ever written. Into the Mystic is an absolute masterpiece.
A great album front to back.
“Listen Without Prejudice” more like listen without enjoyment. Tediously mundane. This would make a great soundtrack for a nap.
The music is really good. The little skits not so much. Could’ve been a five but we had to try to be funny. You aren’t Adam Sandler, stick to the music.
Ramone! Play a song that’s longer than 2.5 minutes. Ramone! Play a song with a guitar solo Ramone! Play a song that sounds different than the last song.
I really enjoyed dis album, man. Bob Marley, him a great man, yuh know.
First of all “Shout Me Out” is a good song, not great, just good. That’s the highlight of the album. You know when you are discussing music with friends and there is always one a**hole who picks the most obscure, pretentious band he can come up with because he heard about them from his cousin in New York. This is that band. If you like Pink Floyd you should listen to TV on the Radio. How about no. I know what you are thinking , dude you don’t get it. You are right, I don’t, and I don’t want to. Then the guy will say something like “they are redefining the genre”. Well if there was ever a genre that needed redefined this is it. Whatever you want to call it alternative/indie/electronica. I call it boring and pretentious. Next album please.
They sound like a Counting Crows cover band but they don’t play the hits, because “The hits are too mainstream man”. Get off your high horse and play Mr. Jones already. That being said “Bad Liquor” and “Pale Skinny Girl” have their moments.
I loved this album when I was a kid and I love it still.
I have a lot of respect for Ray Charles for making this album. The racial implications at the time must have been substantial. That being said it’s a cover album and many of the originals are better versions.
What a great album. If you didn’t know already ZZ Top can bring it.
Not really in my wheelhouse musically but it’s ok.
I am very nostalgic about this album. When I was in high school we used to ride around just blasting it. It’s better than I remember.
Prince is a musical genius. Take a look at the credits for this album. Vocals-Prince Back up vocals-Prince All instruments-Prince Too bad it’s not his best album.
This album was how I was introduced to rap as a kid. You couldn’t convince me that there is one bad song.
Beautiful.
We once bought a CD from a guy on the street. He was selling them outside of Comerica Park after a Detroit Tigers game. There were five songs . We listened to about 5 seconds of each song. We threw it out the window onto I-75. To Pimp A Butterfly is only slightly better than that.
I was totally prepared to hate this album but I cannot. It was surprisingly good.
At first I thought this said Firehouse and I thought good at least there will be one good song. Unfortunately it is fIREHOSE. This album is so middle of the road. It never quite gets good but it isn’t really bad. It’s music purgatory.
The guitar playing alone warrants a 5.
Perhaps the greatest opening song of any album ever.
Very his album. It doesn’t quite rise to the level of great for me.
If you like the soundtrack of any 80’s romantic comedy. This is the album for you.
2.8. Not really in my listening spectrum.
3.2. Now I know what supermarkets sounded like in the 70’s.
2.7. The musicianship is pretty good. When I was 7 or 8 I had a friend. His babe was Maurice. When we listened to music he couldn’t remember the words. So he would just make up the words. When I listened to this album I couldn’t help but think of him.
3.8. Enjoyable album. Phil Collins is a great drummer. I’m not sure if I ever really appreciated that. I was also surprised by the guitar work.
3.5 another David Bowie album. It isn’t Ziggy Stardust.
4.2. This is a good album with a couple of great songs.
Yep folk music.
4.7 great album. Finally a great album.
This is a great album. Should front to back. 5.0
3.5. Interesting ideas pulled off well. I never knew I needed so many songs about Illinois.
I really enjoyed this album. First couple of songs are bangers.
One of the great guitar players. Money for nothing is one of the best riffs of all time. 4.6
4.4 This is a really good album. A lot of really good songs.
4.7 every song on this album is worthy of your attention. Great band exceptional album.
This returned a marginally better result than the last time the Germans and the Japanese hooked up. “Can” make an album. “Can” get it released. “Can” get it played. Can’t make me enjoy it. 1.5
Meh 2.2
4.2 I’ve never heard most of this album before and I really enjoyed it. Musically it is very good.
4.2. Very underrated bass lines. Psycho Killer is an all time great song.
5.0. A timeless classic. Absolutely brilliant.
3.5 it’s dance music. Nobody knows if it’s good or bad. It just is.
I’m going to give this a little bit of a break because it’s a live album. There are a couple of really good songs in here that are not performed particularly well. 2.5
Full disclosure, I am not a fan of U2. I think they are overrated. This is not a very good album. 2.5
This is a solid album. Quite a few hits. The rock backed rap is very good and the traditional old school rap is surprisingly good. 4.4
2.6 not a very enjoyable album for me.
This is not The Who’s best album. There area few really good songs and a bunch of filler 3.9.
4.6. Classic album. Certainly deserves all of the accolades. Strong guitar work.
This album is ok. Does it rise to the level of one of the all time greats? It’s doubtful. I am sure there has to be hundreds of better rap albums. 3.5
2.5 maybe I was wrong about the last rap album. Maybe there aren’t hundreds of better rap albums.
I have been amazed with some of these albums. Not only do they end up in this list but that they get made in the first place. 1.9
Better than I anticipated. The vocals are good. 3.5
Listened to this twice. Great. Ozzie is amazing and of course the guitar work is also. No weak spots at all. 4.7
I was fully prepared to hate this album but didn’t. 3.2
I own this album and I love it. Have always been a big fan of Levon Helm’s vocals. The musicianship is brilliant. 4.6
If they aren’t the greatest band of all time they are certainly on the short list. They have it all. 4.8
Meh. Not real big on the vocal style. 2.7
If you don’t have anything nice to say… 2.4
Iconic

3.0. Is good but it’s a trumpet so…

3.3. It sounds like it was recorded at the bottom of a swimming pool and then played over the pa at an elementary school gym.
3.2
3.3 I have great appreciation for the influence of B.B. King and the guitar playing is great. The album is meh.
3.4 reminds me of the wedding singer. 80’s covers.

Not bad.
4.6 very good album. A bunch of forgotten classics.
4.2 I don’t know how I’ve never heard of this band. Very good album.
4.5
Of you like jazz…
One good song.
4.6 I mean it’s pretty good.
4.7. Ozzie in his prime.
2.7 did nothing for me.
3.0 Elvis Costello is fine but one of the greatest album’s of all time?
2.0 nope.
Blood Sugar Sex Magik and about 7 songs more than we needed. 4.1
Imagine if your high school Spanish teacher had the class make a song in Spanish as an assignment. Then she compiled the best songs and made an album. This is that album.
Not super familiar with the screaming trees but a really good album.
4.8. Great album.
4.2
.5 horrible.
Good album, great vocals. 4.0
Greatest live album of all time.
Surprisingly ok. 3.5
4.0 several very good songs.
In my opinion, top ten album of all time
Great album very solid. 4.7
Very solid. 4.2
3.7 I’ve heard worse
4.1 beach boys are great. Not their best effort.
4.8. What can you say great album.
Seriously?
4.0 about 5 songs too long
Very solid. 4.3
5.0. Every song is a hit. Great album.
4.0 pleasantly surprised.
Meh.
3.4 I can understand why people enjoy this. It’s just not my thing.
Pretentious dog****.
Epically 80’s. Couple decent songs. Nothing that would amount to a great album.
4.2.
4.4
3.3. I heard it through the grapevine that this album isn’t very good.
4.1. Very listenable.
2.0 I don’t know how anyone can separate the good from the bad in this genre.
4.3. Always been a fan of the kinks.
4.8
4.6. Very underrated. This could’ve been a lot higher if the album was a little shorter.
5.0 definitely an all time great album. Two of the greatest guitarists ever.
4.9
