NirvanaClassic have on vinyl. Stand out tracks: -Where did you sleep last night -The man who sold the world -Polly -Something in the way -Plateau
Classic have on vinyl. Stand out tracks: -Where did you sleep last night -The man who sold the world -Polly -Something in the way -Plateau
Dave is in a bit of trouble at the moment well with his wife anyway! This album always impressed me as it was not long after Kurt passed and that Dave recorded all of the instruments. I saw them tour the second and third album at Brixton Academy which is a small venue for them these days. I can't say I listen to the Foo's much these days but hey still fun on the radio. This album is a bit more raw and has the grunge vibe still. Stand out tracks - This is a call - I'll stick around - Big Me - Floaty - Weenie Beenie
First album a day! Never listened to Pixies much in the past. Still a raw and fresh sound for 1989 release. Good head bopping tracks Noted songs: - Mr Grieves - La La love you - sounds like Morrisey - Hey - No 13 Baby - Silver - has a cool western movie slide guitar
Loved the Rhodes keyboard. Stand out tracks: - Living in the city - Jesus children of America - Higher Ground
Never listened to the album all the way through before. Good throughout, stand out tracks: - My sweet lord remaster and 2000 - Wah Wah - What is life - Let it down - Apple Scruffs - All things must pass - Art of Dying (AMAZING)
Was not initially thrill by listening to YES, I have never been keen on all the organs I prefer move Tull in terms of Prog. I was really surprised and happy with this album, some great guitar work and acoustic track the Clap was amazing. Stand out tracks: - The Clap - Your move - Perpetual Change
Really enjoyed listening to this album. I don' take the time to listen to early hip hop. Feels like more instrumental for the majority of the album. Stand out tracks: -Welcome to the terrordome -Burn Hollywood Burn -War at 33 1/3
Haven't listened to Garbage in years, not my favourite from back in the day some good tracks though. - stupid girl - Milk - Queer
Classic disco / R&B album, I don't think I have listened to it as an album before. Nile Roger being the producer on it and you can hear him all over it. It really is great! Not sure on 2 remixes each of lost in music and we are family, one each would have been enough. Stand out tracks: - He's the greatest dancer - Lost in music - Thinking of you - We are family - Easier to love
Never heard of this band before, the album starts off very slow and stays slow throughout , nice folk track about miners to start with. I can hear a khruangbin guitar sound throughout, wondering if this was one of Speer's influences. Would have check other albums out before I made a decision about the band Stand out tracks: - Mining for gold - Blue Moon Revisited (song for Elvis) - I don't get it - Great harmonica parts - Working on a building - Sweet Jane - Walking after midnight - harmonica again
Like this one krautrock is something I don't know much about. Has a Doors ish vibe to it. Some very long tracks which makes it a commitment to listen to in one shot. Stand out tracks: - Mushroom - Helleluhwah - 18 Min epic - Aumgn - 17 mins - Bring me coffee or tea
Classic have on vinyl. Stand out tracks: -Where did you sleep last night -The man who sold the world -Polly -Something in the way -Plateau
This has up on a number of youtube and internet articales to listen to, I must have missed the band when younger as I don't know them, however I may have heard singles on the radio over the years. Stand out tracks: - Let the good times roll - classic rock beat - My best friends girl - Don't cha stop - Bye bye love - Moving in stereo - All mixed up
The bass lines all over this album are fantastic. Classic Bowie quite a few instrumental tracks but overall solid. Stand out tracks: - Sound and vision - Be my wife
Shoegaze never a genre I've managed to find something I really like. Same here just a drone of kids not knowing what to do. Still some ok tracks. - Cupid come - (When you wake) You're still a dream - Feed me with your kiss - Sueisfine
Quality stuff old school punk not sure I have heard the debut before. Great from start to finish. Stand out tracks: - Fast car - No reply - Get out on our own - Sixteen - I need - I don't mind
This was massive when I was young love the album. Stand out tracks: - Bitter sweet symphoy - Sonnet - The rolling people - The drugs don't work - Space and time - Weeping willow - Lucky man - This time
Lots of off-key and discordant chords. Stand out tracks: - Pannonica - I surrender, dear - Bemsha swing
I always struggled with Primal Scream back in the day. Saw them at Reading Festival and was not too keen then but I was only interested in seeing heavier bands. On relistening its a good album but not one I would reach for often, still Movin' on up is a classic hit. Stand out tracks: - Movin' on up - Loaded - Damaged - I'm coming down - Higher than the sun (a dub symphony in two parts) - Stone my soul
Heard this bamd mentioned on some podcasts but don't think I have heard them. The vocals remind me of someone I can't place. Stand out tracks: - Rip it up - Mid in your eye - Breakfast time - I can't help myself
It two goes to get into this album. Not my thing but some good tracks. It did grow on me as the album went on - The big ship - Golden hours - Becalmed
Classic album I don't think I have heard the whole of. Stand out tracks: -Sunday Morning -Venus in furs -Run, run, run -All tomorrows parties -The black angels death song
Always hated their album artwork but this album is wall to wall bangers. Stand out tracks: - More than a feeling - Rock and roll band - just the whole album
Classic dad rock band. Very solid band very of its time. Some questionable lyrics on Hotel? Stand out tracks: - Wall Street shuffle - Baron Samedi - Oh Effendi
Look Eminem super talented but having listened to this for the first time in years it's so homophobic you can't even say it's of its time. Hip Hop and Rap have always had this problem and it's still an issue but not as much as it was. There are stand out tracks but can't list them and only a 1 star.
Neil Young and George Harrison vibes. This album has it musical theme which makes tracks blend together, I am not sure in this case if I like it or not. This album will take a few listens. Overall solid Stand out tracks: - Between the bars - No name no 5 - Rose parade - Angeles - 2:45am - Say yes
Elton and Bernie at their best. Not really a bad track on the album. A massive hit at the time and it really holds up well. Reading that Bernie wrote the lyrics in two and a half weeks is just incredible and Elton having most melodies in 3 days! The output back then was also crazy this was the second album for Elton in 1973 and GBYBR was a double LP. Stand out tracks: -Candle in the wind -Bennie and the jets -This song has no title -Grey seal -I've seen that movie too -The Ballad of Danny Bailey (1909-1934) -Dirty Little Girl -Saturday night'a alright (for fighting) -Social Disease
Really enjoyable album, real mix of acoustic signer song writer and soul. First track is great Down to Zero, an album of love songs with an edge to them. Well worth a revisit. Stand out tracks: - Down to zero - Water with the wine - Save me - Join the boys - Tall in the saddle
Big band Ray Charles is something special, love it all. First half is big band and second strings. Stand out tracks: - Let the good times roll - It had to be you - Alexander's ragtime band - When your lover has gone - You won't let me go
Good solid album of early "britpop" which passed me by at the time (I was 11). Not a bad track, elements of The Smiths, Beatles. Solid song writing good lyrics, the last track Home Again has a great indie groove. Stand out tracks: - Show Girl - American guitars - Junk shop clothes - How could I be wrong - Housebreaker - Idiot brother - Early years - Home Again
Being 22 when this record came out what I remember is just all the crap that went with Pete Dockerty which is a shame as this was really fresh at the time. Soild album. Stand out tracks: - Music when the lights go out - Narccist - The ha ha wall - Campaign of hate - The Saga - What became of the likely lads
Stand out tracks: - London calling - Jimmy jazz - Rudie can't fail - The right profile - Lost in the supermarket - Wrong em boyo - Death or glory - Train in vain (stand by me)
I remember this coming out back in the day, my taste then was much heavier music so I don't think I listened to anything but the singles. It has the feel of The Stokes, The Libertines that era of indie. I can't say I dislike or like this album it's more of a shrug of the shoulders it's alright. Stand out tracks are just what I know. Also it's not so much that they have a sound it's more that every track sounds very similar on this album. - Take me out - The dark of the matinee - Darts of pleasure - 40'
Coventry's own Specials, what can be better and uplifting, political and important social commentary. 2 Tone ska at its best. Stand out tracks: - Enjoy yourself (its later than you think) - Hey little rich girl - Do nothing - Pearl's cafe - Stereotype
A lot bigger sound than the Smiths on this album. Generally quite heavy when you think of Morrissey, vocals could have been better mixed they get lost in places and you always want to hear his lyrics. I have to hold my nose these days when it comes to Morrissey due to him being a bit of a dick, but as an artist in the Smiths and some solo work he is great. Stand out tracks: - Your going to need someone on your side - Certain people I know - We hate it when our friends become successful - Seasick yet still docked - I know it's gonna happen someday
Mambo is not my go to genre but to be fair the album flowed well and reminded me. Of a Brazilian club I went to in London back in the day. No stand out tracks but I have no knowledge on mambo so hard to comment. Worth a listen, background party music.
After hearing Funkadelic's maggot brain it opened me up to listening to more funk and soul genres I have only listened in passing before. There really is not a bad track on this album, the musicianship is incredible, jazz horns, solid riffs and none of it competing with each other. - P-Funk (wants to get funked up) - Mothership connection (star child) - Unfunky UFO - Handcuffs - Give up the funk (tear the roof of this sucker)
I knew more off this album than I thought I did. Really great all the way through, reminds me of DJ Shadow in places. Stand out tracks: - Sexy boy - All I need - Kelly watch the stars - Talisman - Ce martin-la
I used to like Supergrass back in the day, never a follower but radio and singles were always good. They came across more light hearted than other bands at the time. Not sure if I listened to the full album back in the day, again its a solid album 90's Indie, you can't go wrong. Stand out tracks: - Richard III - Late in the day - G-Song - Sun hits the sky - Going out - It's not me - Cheapskate - Hollow little reign
The classic Green Day album can't believe it's 30 years old! Still has that youthful sound. It's pop punk fast and short songs, strong bass lines really can't go wrong with this album. Stand out tracks: - Chump - Longview - Welcome to paradise - Pulling teeth - Basket case - When I come around -F. O. D
Raw sound, stripped back but accomplished guitars and drumming. It has that 90's indie rock feel to it which is nostalgic now. Stand out tracks: - Dig Me Out - One More Hour - The Drama You've Been Craving - Not What You Want - Things You Say - Dance Song '97
I first picked this up on CD in 2003 in MVC on the way to Herefordshire. It was uni days and I was trying to broaden my horizons. It truly made me fall in love with this type of jazz which I think is 'modal jazz'. There are no stand out tracks it's all just incredible. Reading about all the individuals that played on it and the genius of Miles Davis really is a joy.
It's the Beatles great album with McCartney well in charge and running the show. Good to read about how the album was made and the tensions that were happening. Stand out tracks: - Come together - Something - Oh darling - Octopuses garden - Here comes the sun - you never give me your money - Golden slumbers
Considering how big this band is, I don't know why I have not really heard of them. Saying that this is not the type of music I have ever sought out. Album has the feel of the 80's new wave dance / electronic movement (which is what it is). I can see the value in it however its just a genre that I struggle with and that include Kraftwerk and the ilk. For an album that sounds very of its time its is excellently produced and sounds very full. Stand out tracks: - Souvenir - Joan of Arc - Georgia
Has a real 70s rock vibe about this. Really enjoyed this record it flows really well. Musicianship is amazing soild vocals all round good album. Will check out their other records. Stand out tracks: - It's him! - Burnished - Sweet joy - Drug - Keys
A classic Miles Davis album incredible for start finish. Stand out track: - Spanish Key
Bowie don't need to say much here. Genius in many ways musically, lyrically and smart to get the right musicians around him to create great art. Ahead of the time at so many points in his career, I remember the late 90s when he was using the internet to do all kinds of stuff. Young Americans being one of his classics love it still holds up so well. Great sax work on this album, got a great soul vibe. Stand out tracks: - Young Americans - Right - Somebody up there likes me - Across the universe - Can you hear me - Fame - Who can I be now?
Fiona Apple must have been an bigger artist in the States as I do not remember her name or music from back in the day. Musically and lyrically soild. I will be checking out her other records. Stand out tracks: - Sleep to dream - Shadowboxer - Criminal - Never is a promise
OG Pink Floyd with Syd Barrett. Good album solid all the way through. Stand out tracks: - Lucifer Sam - Pow R. TocH. - Interstellar Overdrive - The Gnome
Long double album of 70s psychedelic rock. Great bass lines, long jam tracks. Love the fuzz sound on the guitars. Long album and I had to break it up to listen to it all. Solid not my thing most of the time but I can appreciate the work and art in it all. Stand out tracks: - Down through the night - Orgone Accumulator - Brainstorm
It's Pink Floyd's The Wall what else do you need to know. Classic rock opera not going to list all the great songs but her is a few. Stand out tracks: - The thin ice - Another brick in the wall pt 2 - Goodbye blue sky - Young lust - Don't leave me now - Hey you - Comfortably numb - Run like hell - The trial
A classic Dylan album, not a bad song on the whole thing. Stand out tracks: - Like a rolling stone - Tomestone blue - It takes a lot to laugh, it takes a train to cry - Ballad of thin man - Queen Jane approximately - Desolation row - Highway 61 Revisited
This is the second album that's has come up on here and this has aged a bit better than the Marshall Mathers LP, the homophobic slurs don't really feature here so can give it a score.
Love me so Weller, the Mod-Father is just a legend never frightened to reinvent himself. Album has a really rich full sound, Weller at his best, Stand out tracks: - Sunflower - Can You Heal Us (Holy Man) - Wild Wood - All The Pictures On The Wall - The Weaver - Foot Of The Sun - Shadow Of The Sun - Hung Up
The year of my birth and new wave pop was never really my thing. This has that 80's sound. Not to say it is bad but I would not go out of my way normally to listen to this genre. Well produced pop, some nice bass lines and lots of 80's hits. Overall this is a really really good album will definitely pick it up on vinyl when I come across it. Stand out tracks: - Poison Arrow - Tears are not enough - The look of love pt1 - Dare stamp - All of my heart - 4 ever 2 gether
What a full sounding album this is, folk rock I am a fan. I knew the track Fisherman's Blues but was not familiar of the rest of the album, obviously I know 'This Land is Your Land' the Woody Guthrie classic. Stand out tracks: - Fisherman's Blues - We will not be lovers - World Party - When will we be married
Early Radiohead is great, lyrically and musically differnet from a lot that was going on at the time. As time went on I found them harder to get into. Anyway The Bends is amazing: Stand out tracks: - Planet Telex - The Bends - High and Dry - Fake Plastic Tress - Just - My Iron Lung
Well it ABBA, sickly sweet pop, can remember it being on as a kid and it wasn't for me then. It is brilliant crafted pop music no doubt and it has all the Eurovision flare but still its a bit naff. This album has some of the big hits: - Dancing Queen - Knowing me, knowing you - just makes me think of Alan Partridge - Money Money Money - Fernando
Cool post punk album would listen again
I own this on vinyl after hearing about it being a must own funk record. It really is amazing and the fuzz guitar is just so good. Stand out tracks: - Maggot Brain - Can You Get To That - Super Stupid
On paper this should be a genre I like but I find it a struggle. I do like the creativity in music but as a living act I'm not sure how fun that would have been.
Sometime it is a bit of a shock how old an album is, this is one of those times. I do not think I have listened to a full R.E.M album just singles. I have always like Michael Stipe has a great voice and lyrics. Stand out tracks: - Drive - Try not to breath - The sidewinder sleeps tonite - Everybody hurts - Sweetness follows - Man on the moon - Nightswimming
I like Hip Hop as for me it has a massive cross over with metal and puck music and many fans have that common bond. This album when I heard it back in the day just blew my mind the heaviness musically and lyrically is just incendiary. I do wonder what he would have gone on to do if not killed at such a young age. Stand out tracks: - Gimmie the loot - one of my favourite tracks of all time The whole thing!!
Punk before punk was even a thought. Raw guitars, raw vocals what is not to like about this album. I wanna be your dog is a track that still sounds so fresh and edgy. Stand out tracks: - 1969 - I Wanna Be Your Dog - Real Cool Time - Little Doll
Never heard of the band or the album. This album has a doom metal vibe, slow discordant and gloomy. Not to say this is a bad thing. Stand out tracks: - Washer - Good Morning Captain
I always had somerhing against Ash and all these year later I couldn't tell you why, maybe the singer was just too good looking. Musically it has some grit which I like but the vocals are a bit light. Stand out tracks: - Lose Control - Goldfinger - Girl from Mars - I'd give you anything - Innocent smile
I remember when I was younger that John Lennon was my favourite Beatle, then I learned about how he treated his first wife and Julian and I found that unforgiveable. Then you go on to learn about his own childhood and it gives some context to some of his actions. I have always like John's solo works and I have always liked his voice, its funny that Julian sounds so much like him. Stand out tracks: - Imagine (even though I would be happy not to hear it again) - Crippled Inside - Jealous Guy - Oh My Love - How?
I live in Australia now and come from the UK. In Oz they bang on about Bon Scott being the be all and end all when it comes to AC/DC. I grew up only knowing Brain Johnson and they both have there good and bad points. Anyway AC/DC are a band who stay in their lane and they do not deviate, they are dad rock at its finest. Not a bad I go out to buy or listen to but if its on it will get a head nod from me. Stand out tracks: - Highway to hell - Girls got rhythm - Walk all over you - Night Prowler
I had Brian Eno's Another Green World come up a little while ago and while to took me a few goes to listen to the whole thing it was okay. This being his debut as a solo artist isn't such a hard listen. Stand out tracks: - Needles in the camels eye - The paw paw negro blowtorch - Baby's on fire - Cindy Tells Me - Blank Frank
Café music but seriously good stuff. I do not know much about if anything about acid jazz so this was refreshing to hear and enjoy. I does remind me of DJ Shadow in places. I was quite hard to pick out tracks as its quite ambient so it al flowed together nicely. Stand out tracks: - Voce Gosta - Sereia - Samba do Gringo Paulista - Abraco
I love Billy Bragg and have done for years, his politics his song writing his simple sounding guitar that is actually quite difficult. I did not know until now however that this album is all Woody Guthrie's unused lyrics, thank you for the Wikipedia link. Stand out tracks: - Walt Whitman's Niece - California Stars - Way Over Yonder In The Minor Key - Birds and Ships - Ingrid Bergman - Eisler On The Go - Another Man's Done Gone
Classic Bowie and the first of the Thin White Duke period. Stand out tracks: - Station to station - Golden years - TVC15 - Stay - Wild is the wind
Classic punk rock record influenced so many bands. Stand out tracks: - Blitzkrieg Pop - Beat on the Brat - I wanna be your boyfriend - Chainsaw - I don't wanna go down to the basement - Havana Affair - Listen to my heart - Let's dance - Today your love, tomorrow the world
80s/90s rock, gives the vibe of long car summer car journeys with the windows down nodding you head. Stand out tracks: - Twice as hard - Jealous again - Hard to handle - She talks to angels
I have never been 100% sold on Moby, saying that he has had a long career now so that is not easy these days. On listening to this album it has aged really well and there are some great tracks on here, shame he is a bit of a wally in some respects. Stand out tracks: - Honey - Find my baby - Porcelain - Why does my heart feel so bad? - South Side - Natural Blues - Run On
It terms or rock / metal Van Halen were before my time but I always like Eddie and his innovation on guitar. Classic album enough said. Stand out tracks: - Jump - Panama - Top Jimmy - Drop dead legs - Hot for teacher - Girl gone bad
McCartney and his output at this time was insane. He was the one pushing the Beatles to record and release and then when they split started his solo work and then Wings. They boy can write. Stand out tracks: - Band on the run - Jet - Bluebird - Mrs Vandebilt - Let me roll it - Mamunia - Picasso's last words (Drink to me) - Nineteen hundred and eighty five So basically the whole album is great.
Always preferred Rod Stewart in the Faces rather than his solo work. Faces is a great name for what in hindsight is a supergroup. Bluesy rock and roll what is not to like. Stand out tracks: - Miss Judy's Farm - Love lives here - Stay with me - Debris
Had to listen via youtube as it was not available on Spotify in my region for whatever reason. I can here a bit of The Smiths in their music. Like the vocals.
Classic rock and roll classic band and classic album. Blusy and raw and Plants vocals are gritty it reminds me I need to listen to more Zep. Stand out tracks: - Whole lotta love - The lemon song - Thank you - Heartbreaker - Ramble on - Bring it on home
Opens up with a Soul track Black Cow which was cool. Overall solid not much filler but quite long tracks in places. Stand out tracks: - Black Cow - Decon Blues - Peg - Home at last
I have always loved Neil Hannon's voice and lyrics. I remember the chart success they had with National Express back in the day. I have never really listened to the back catalogue which I will now fix. Stand out tracks: - Something for the weekend - Becoming more like Alfie - In & Out of Paris & London - The Frog Princess - The dogs and the horses
Jim Morrison interesting character would always have died young or did fame push him over the top. Not much not to like from the doors debut, it must have sounded so fresh at the time. Stand out tracks: - Break on through (to the other side) - Soul kitchen - Twentieth century fox - Light my fire - I looked at you - Take it as it comes
Prince, well I love Prince but I have struggled with his music, I know how does that make sense (it doesn't). Well I love how talented, creative and focused he was. One of the best musicians of all time, great writer for others and all that. But I just find some of it just a bit cringe, anywho giving it another go. Stand out tracks: - 1999 - Little red corvette (with the cringe factor) - Let's pretend we're married
Soulful and everything you want from Curtis Mayfield. 70s soul funk never seen the film will have to put it on the list and funny how these have transcended from a soundtrack to chart success. Stand out tracks: - Little child running wild - Pusherman - Junkie chase - No thing on me (cocaine song) - Think - Superfly
I just had this on in the background and it is just great, no need to list the stand out tracks its all killer no filler.
Classic metal from a classic British band. I got in to metal in the mid 90's so this was always a bit old school for me but listening to it now it has that early thrash vibe. Stand out tracks: - Black metal - Buried alive - Raise the dead - Leave me in hell - Heavan's on fire - Countess Bathory
I loved this band back in the day, fun and upbeat. They were a regular on the festivals back then as well so saw them a few times. This album is all killer no filler for sure but it is a best of. Stand out tracks: - I hate to say I told you so - Main offender - Supply and demand - Die alright - A. K. A. I. D. I. O. T - The Hives are law, you are a crime
Songs you have heard countless times and you never know the artist, that would be Solomon Burke. Stand out tracks: - Cry to me - Can't no body love you
Just like a lot of people who have reviewed this album it is very hard to at today's standards, musically great, Snoop's flow great, lyrical content well that's where it falls down.
Honky Tonk twang classic 80s sounding country. This style of country never has done much for me. I would stay that this was just fine nothing stands out to me just a bit bland.
Classic early Beatles what's not to like: Stand out tracks: - A hard day's night - Tell me why - Can't buy me love - Things we said today - You can't do that
With over 2 hours of material there are too many stand out tracks to list. This is jazz you have have on and not feel pretentious, its fun has that big band swing to it.
I have only found Sufjan Stevens recently and this album in particular is just fantastic 5 out of 5 any day. Such a beautiful sound musically and vocally and the stories beautifully told. Too many tracks to mention but John Wayne Gacy Jr is haunting and stunning.
I cannot remember when I last listened to this album, too long obviously. The Beastie's style was just raw, punk and fun. Solid album that still stands up today. Stand out tracks: - Rhymin and stealin - Girls - Fight for your right - No sleep to Brooklyn - Hold it now, Hit it - Slow and Low - Time to get ill
I think I had this album back in the day, I remember the Manic's being everywhere in the 90's in the UK. Very distinctive vocals, interesting backstory in regards of the guitarist going missing and never to be found. I always found them ok nothing to special for me but nice to go back an hear it again now, its been a while. Stand out tracks: - A Design for Life - Kevin Carter - Small black flowers that grow in the sky - Removables - No surface all feeling
Fred Neil is not someone I am familiar with. It has a slight psycdellic vibe to it with hints of Jim Morrison in the vocals. Stand out tracks: - That's the bag I'm in - Faretheewell - very different take on this song than I'm use to too. -Everybody's talkin' - Sweet cocaine
Frank Ocean is someone I have heard a few tracks of. Found this album quite flat at the start, not much better in the middle overall very meh. Stand out tracks: - Sweet life - Crack rock - Pyramid - Pink matter
The sound of coolness is what comes to mind when I hear Green Onions. Stand out tracks: - Green Onions - Twist and shout - Behave yourself - Stranger on the shore - Lonely Avenue - Comin' home baby
Soulful and a bit funky, it is a record you could put on with friends over while having drinks and a conversation and it compliment it. I really mean that in a good way. Stand out tracks: - Inspiration Information - Sparkle City - Rainy day - Strawberry letter 23 - Sweet Thang
Ever since the allegations and information that has come out about Michael its hard to sperate the art from the artist. He is musically a genius but a very flawed person for many reasons. I do not listen to MJ unless its on the radio I can never face putting it. Anyway listened to Off The Wall and its great front to back. Would be a 4 star but can only give 2 for well reasons.
My dad had this album on vinyl when I was growing up so I do remember putting it on a lot. There is not a bad song on this album! One of my favourite Bowie personas. Stand out tracks: - Five years - Moonage Daydream - Starman - Star - Hang on to yourself - Ziggy Stardust - Suffragette City - Rock 'N' Roll Suicide
Iconic rock Robert Plants vocals are just great, Jimmy Page, Jones and Bonham just insane talant. Stand out tracks: - Custard Pie - The Rover - in my time of dying - drums are amazing - Kashmir - Bron-Yr-Aur - Ten years gone - The Wanton Song - Sick Again
60s folk pop sounds of its time but still just as great. All beautifully written, very Beatles Esk twangy guitar lines and a cover of I Call Your Name. Stand out tracks: - Monday Monday - Straight Shooter - California Dreamin' - Somebody Groovy - The "In" Crowd
Buddy Holly is one of those dogs what ifs it early rock and roll. Would have he gone on to 60s and developed or would he have been old fashioned by the we will never know. As a debut and only record it really is incredible. Stand out tracks: - Oh Boy! - Not Fade Away - Maybe Baby - Tell Me How - That'll Be The Day - I'm Lookin' For Someone To Love - Last Night - Rock Me My Baby
Never heard this album before and I really enjoyed it the skits are to a minimum and not long. Good beats just solid work. Stand out tracks: - Knuckleheadz - Knowledge God - Criminology - Rainy Dayz - Guillotine - Ice Water - Wisdom body - Wu-Gambinos
Americana folk, I love the story telling in these songs. Jack has a a great voice everything about his styles has that travelling musician vibe like Woody Guthrie Stand out tracksb - Ol' Riley - The Boll Weevil - Old Blues - Mule Skinners blues - Dinks song - Brother won't you join in the line
Heavy riffs, screeching vocals and keyboards and organs. I do not mind 7 to 10 minute tracks however this is an album of long tracks. Sounds like they were having to much fun in the studio, I would class this as a more sit down and savour rather than a casual listen. Overall solid work. Stand out tracks: - Bloodsucker - Child in time - Into the fire
I had Depeche Mode in the real art house bands and they are but I guess they were a bit before my time to get them the first time round but this is a superb album. Ambient 80s synth, layered and rich. The back end of the album lost me a bit but overall it's enjoyable. Stand out tracks: - Never let me down again - The things you said - Strangelove - Sacred - Too have and to hold
I really did not like the opening track however the rest of the album did pick up for me, some really good solos throughout. Stand out tracks: - Strickly confidential - Editions of you - Grey Lagoons
The Pogues trad punk was so fresh when they first appeared on the scene. Who would have thought that Shane MacGowen would live as long as he did. His lyrics and style were just incredible, you wonder what he could have done if he got his health together. The love for him when he passed was so lovely to see. All in all a brilliant album start to finish, one to add to the vinyl collection. Stand out tracks: - If I Should Fall from Grace with God - Turkish Song of the Damned - Fairytale of New York - I wish this wasn't played at Christmas as much as it such an amazing piece of work and can be ruined by overplaying - Thousands are sailing - Fiesta - The recruiting sergeant / The rocky road to Dublin / Galway Races - streets of sorrow / Birmingham six - The broad majestic Shannon - The Irish Rover - Mountain Dew - Shane Bradley
Do I like this album more than Physical Graffiti probably not but its still a great album front to back. Stand out tracks: - Immigrant Song - Celebration Day - Since I've been loving you - Out on the tiles - Gallows Pole - Tangerine - That's the way
Loved Michael Kiwanuka since the first album and saw him support mumford and sons in Melbourne a few year later. Soulful voice and great music. Stand out tracks: - You ain't the problem - I've been dazed - Piano Joint (This kind of love) - Living in denial - Hero - Solid Ground
Harvest one of Neil Young's essential album and one I picked up on vinyl as soon as I started collecting again. It's a 5 out of 5 any day of the week. If you like folk, singer songwriter or Americana and not listened to this record time to put it in your list. Stand out tracks: - Out on the weekend - Harvest - Man needs a maid - Heart of gold - Are you ready for the country - Old man - Alabama - The needle and the damage done - Words (between the lines of ages) So basically the whole album
I can't say I have heard of fIREHOSE before but they have a familiar sound. It's one of those albums you don't dislike but neither do you like well for me anyway. Stand out tracks: - Vastopol - If'n - some things - The softest hammer
I can't say I have any memory of his album or artist, reading the Wiki sounds like it was a big deal it just never really made it to the UK I guess. I get Meredith Brooks vibes from it. At the start I didn't think I would enjoy this record but it turns out I was wrong. Stand out tracks: - Car wheels on a gravel road - 2 Kool 2 be 4-gotten - Note I do not like the way this is written! - Concrete and barbed wire - Lake Charles - Can't let go - I lost it - Still I long for your kiss - Jackson
Massive when it came out and still good now. Stand out tracks: - 5/4 - Clint Eastwood - Sound Check (Gravity) - Rock the house - 19-2000 - Latin Simone (Que pasa contigo)
I like jazz but outside some of the big names my knowledge is poor. This record has a great laid back feel to it, background jazz but in the nicest way possible.
There really isn't a bad track on this album, I always wonder what Jimi would have gone on to do if he didn't pass away so young. Such a good record. Stand out tracks: - Spanish castle magic - Wait until tomorrow - Little wing - If 6 was 9 - Castles made of sand -She's so fine - One rainy wish - Bold as love
Really enjoyable album but felt it was lacking something I couldn't put my finger on. Probably Crosby Nash and Young Stand out tracks: - Love the one you're with - Church (Pt. Of someone) - Go back home - Black Queen - Cherokee - We are not helpless
I could see this being revolutionary at the time of release but the beats have dated badly. Lyrically it is great! The album cover is incredible as well! Stand out tracks: - Renegades of funk - Who you funkin' with - Go Go Pop
Not sure what it is but I did not gel with this album. Musically I can see it is really good, maybe it's the vocals that I didn't enjoy as much. There were some ok tracks. Stand out tracks: - The spark that bled - Waitin' for superman - Feeling yourself disintegrate
Second Yes album that has come up for me on here. I don't mind some Prog, but I struggle with Yes, the opening track Roundabout is solid though. Overall not a bad album I think for me it the electric organ sound that is not for me, considering that is the main feature of Yes it explains why I have never been a massive fan. Stand out tracks: - Roundabout - South Side of the Sky - Mood for a Day - Heart of the Sunrise
Solid album nothing to dislike, rock on the gentler side of things, some good lyrics. Stand out tracks: - Kamera - War on war - Jesus etc - Ashes of American flags - Pot kettle black
If you get past Art Garfunkel's terrifying hair, this album is classic folk. I mean we have all heard Scarborough Fair more times than we can count. Stand out tracks: - Scarborough Fair - Homeward Bound - The Dangling Conversation - A Simple Desultory Philippic - A Poem on the Underground Wall
Bollywood soundtrack, I did not expect that to come up. Initial track does not come across as very Bollywood, more something I would expect from a Steve McQueen movie. It gets more Bollywood very quickly and its quite enjoyable. Lot of jazz elements to this record, which I really enjoyed. Stand out tracks: - Title music (Shalimar) - One two Cha Cha Cha - Countess' Caper - Aaina Wohi Rehta Hai - Mera Pyar Shalimar
Love this album and I put aside my feelings about John as I have always hated the. Way he treated Julian and his mother. Otherwise some of John's best solo work. Stand out tracks: - Mother - Hold on - I found out - Working class hero - Love - Well well well - God
What an album from start to finish, you can really just feel the music all the way through and I know that sounds wanky. Stand out tracks: - I looked away - Bell bottom blues - Keep on growing - Nobody knows you when you're down and out - Anyday - Key to the highway - Why does love got to be so sad - Have you ever loved a woman - Layla
I always struggle with Prince, I think he is / was an amazing musician, but I didn't always like his style, a lot of 80s synth is not my thing. As a guitar player and icon I think he is truly one of the all time greats. Stand out track: - Play in the sunshine - The ballad of Dorothy Parker - Slow love - Hot thing - Adore
I had only heard a few tracks from Little Sims, but she is incredible, great dark beats and lyrics and flow to match. Really all tracks are mint this is a must listen too. Stand out tracks: - Offence - Boss - Wounds - Venom - Therapy - Flowers
Debut album at its best, such raw when if first came out and I was only 12. Just got the 30th Anniversary edition on vinyl and I really enjoyed the original recordings (Monnow Valley): No stand out tracks the whole album is a banger!!
This is my kind of Springsteen, sombre, storytelling, acoustic. The title track is fantastic telling the story of a spree killer from the first person perspective. I like the fact Bruce recorded the tracks at home and then said actually these are good to be released in its own right with out the E Street Band. Stand out tracks: - Nebraska - Atlantic City - Mansion on the hill - Highway Patrolman - Used cars - My Fathers House
I have always loved the way Mark Knopfler plays, it sounds so effortless but it is so hard. Great tone, this album still sounds quite fresh. Dire Straits have a very iconic sound really enjoyed this one. Stand out tracks: - Down to the Waterline - Water of love - Six blade knife - Sultans of swing - Wild West end - Lions
One of the classic Stones albums, all very bluesy and I love it, all the albums stands up. As I get old the more I appreciate how great the stones were back in the early days. Bring black / blues music to the UK. The newest album Hackney Diamonds is also really good go check it out. Stand out tracks: - Gimme Shelter - Country Honk - Let it bleed - You can't aways get what you want
Outside the hit tracks I don't know if I have listened to an Alice Cooper album front to back. Not sure why, maybe when I was young listening to metal, punk and hardcore it was seen as just a bit too kitsch. This record has the LA rock vibe of the time. Stand out tracks: - Raped and Freezin' - Elected - Billion Dollar Babies - No More Mr. Nice Guy - I love the dead
Dance rock has never been my thing so was interested to give this a listen. I get DJ Shadow vibes (whom I am a fan) from the first track Get Innocuous!. This is electronic rock, well not my thing in general I can appreciate it. Stand out tracks: - Get Innocuous! - North American Scum - All my friends - Sound of Silver - New York, I Love You But You're Bringing Me Down
Fun sounding Glam Rock, only heard bits of Hanoi Rocks over the years, happy to give this a go, not understanding the bad reviews by other users. Stand out tracks: - Malibu Beach Nightmare - Mental Beat - Tooting Bec Wreck - Until I get you - Beating gets faster - Back to Mystery City
Never got Portishead to be honest, electronic music has never been my thing. Always happy to listen though, I remember this album and Portishead being massive at the time. Stand out tracks: - Mysterons - Sour times - Strangers - Pedestal - Glory Box
It is one of the classic albums of all time. Reading some of the other reviews giving it a low score for being disjointed and having some week tracks I think miss the point. I think you need to look at the era, innovation and songwriting there is a lot that makes this revolutionary. Stand out tracks: - Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band - With a Little Help from my Friends - Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds - Getting better - She's leaving home - When I'm sixty four - A Day in the Life
I can't say this caught my attention in any meaningful way. I listened on a walk and found each track bled into each other. Until Ambulance and that was sounded liked a failed barbershop quartet. Its just not that interesting a I struggled to get through the whole album. Stand out tracks: - Poppy
I have a funny relationship with the Killers, this was massive when I was at uni my second year I think. I was big into HXC and Metal and everywhere you went all you would hear would be the singles off this album and I hated it. However if I sit back now it is decent, however I would be happy not to hear Mr Brightside, Smile Like You Mean It and Somebody Told Me ever again. I liked this album more that I thought I would. Stand Out tracks: - Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine - All the things that I've done - Andy, You're a Star - Believe me Natalie - Glamourous Indie Rock & Roll
