4 stars bc Dave Grohl cheated on his wife. Otherwise I like the album, I think it'll continue to grow on me.
Genuinely great, David Bowie is the master of taking you on a Journey. I don't think I'll add the songs individually to my rotation because they work so well together that I would need to judt listen to the album itself.
I only wish I could see him perform live like this. Incredible.
🤠 I liked this album more than I thought I would! Life was Hard in the Wild Wild West
No such thing as a bad Green Day album, but I like other releases from them better.
I like Radiohead but didn't love this album. First alnum on this list I didn't entirely like.
EXTREMELY hit or miss album for me. I don't enjoy the heavier, louder songs personally, but I did like about half this album.
I think I like Neil Young music
I'm not high enough for this.
There's a reason we remember The Temptations!
I can recognize this album as a staple of the genre and an icon, and as a good album. It's just also not an album that's for me!
Honestly didn't think I would like this album so much, but it's a full banger.
Liked it more than I thought I would!
Holy repetition, batman! I also didn't love the singer's voice personally.
I like this album a LOT. Much better than "In Rainbows" imo
I was intimidated by the idea of a 20 minute opener, but I really liked this album! The 20 minute opener didn't drag, and the album is a lot of fun.
I like this album more than I thought I would, but I don't love the album.
If you go into this album expecting it to sound like paper planes, you will either be surprised it doesn't sound like paper planes OR you will be disappointed. I, however, enjoy this album very much.
This is the kind of sound I personally do NOT enjoy in country albums, but reading the background was so interesting it makes me want to bump this album up to 2 stars.
I won't, but it's crazy how that is.
Plesantly surprised at just how much I like this album, given my general dislike for rap (just not my genre personally). I've been referencing "So Fresh, So Clean" for maybe my entire life without realizing that was the same guys who were apologizing to Ms. Jackson and also the guys on that very green set singing "Hey-Ya!"
I'm doing the 16 dances to this album.
I enjoyed the listen but didn't find it very memorable.
I was deeply surprised to find so many strong opinions in the reviews of this album. I can't believe so many people hate jazz. I don't, but I don't tend to have a bunch to say about jazz, but I did enjoy this album. It takes the listener on a journey in just 4 songs, which is more than a lot of modern abums can say they do. It's well performed and well recorded. If you really like jazz, this rocks. If you feel kind of middlingly about jazz, this is a very good jazz album. And if you already hate jazz, it's not going to change your mind probably.
I liked a handful of the songs, but overall this album is not for me. I have some friends who would love this album though.
I really don't like when the woman scream sings. She sounds awful. When she sings normally she sounds fine. Several 7 minute instrumental tracks make up the back half of the album and they wore on me SUPER fast.
With the knowledge that The Divine Comedy are playing with irony, this album is... fine. I liked some of the songs in the second half. But the two opening songs are so brutal, it's hard to get past them.
I won't be listening to this album again. It is interesting, but I can see whyso many people hate it. You have to be VERY open minded for this album. I can't see a situation where I will happily put this album on for a casual listen, but if you're trying to see how far away from traditional music an album can get, this is it.
When people say they like 80's music, this is the kind of music I think of in my head.
It was okay. Nothing stood out to me.
I don't understand why they chose the live album over and of JLL's studio albums? I enjoyed it but I'm not a lover of live albums.
She's just got that voice you wanna keep listening to, you know? My only critique is that the songs could be longer, because I want to keep living in her voice.
There were a couple of songs I liked enough to keep, but otherwise this album was meh to me.
I don't hate this album by any means, but I just didn't have any standout moments with this album.
I had heard of Leonard Cohen before, but I had never heard any of his music. According to the reviews of this album, this might not have been the best of his albums to start with. I don't hate it (there is a lot of jaw harp though), but I don't think I would put thia album into my rotation. I did like "Story of Isaac"; it always interests me to hear biblical stories from the other perspective.
I actually liked this album, which is a surprise for my taste, but-
What was that? ... Ryan Adams is a terrible person? How so? ... Oh. Wow.
Won't be listening to Ryan Adams again, but I have been trying to listen through every album on this list fully, so I did listen to it this once. Between this and Casanova by The Divine Comedy, I'm beginning to think the critcs making this list are openly misogynistic...
Another album I don't hate but I don't love either.
I don't know why the critics decided this behemoth of an album was The One for this list, and I can get why people wouldn't enjoy getting assigned a 3 hour long album. That being said, I loved it. Everysing is so romanticized sounding and Ella Fitzgerald is SUCH a phenomenal singer. No complaints from me!
So many reviews are so riled up over this album for no good reason. I really enjoyed this album! I didn't find this challenging (thanks Throbbing Gristle, nobody is more challenging than you), nor did I find it boring. I think some of you guys just like being angry.
Sad to report that I find this album as middling as everyone else in the reviews seem to. The first three songs are the most well known songs for a reason; the next two songs wouldn't see the light of DAY today, and then the rest of the songs are just fine.
SO GOOD. Sounds like summer and nostalgia. Immediately on my playlist, every song.
Despite my typical aversion to songs that feature screaming, I really like this album! This'll show my age, but I had never heard of Dinosaur Jr. before getting this album, so I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the album. It's not my favorite album I've been assigned on this list, but it's certainly up there!
I enjoyed this! It's always nice to listen to other countries' cultural music.
I feel like there are better Stevie Wonder albums.
I liked the overall sound, but I only added about half of the tracklist to my likes.
What am I supposed to do, not enjoy THE Elton John? Of course this is a good album.
I find the second half of the album significantly better than the first, but I must admit: I'm not the biggest fan of Bob Dylan's singing voice. ESPECIALLY in the first half where that's pretty much the only thing going on.
Hopefully you and I can meet again on better terms, Mr. Dylan. But I don't think this was a great pick for my first Bob Dylan album.
Obviously "Every Breath You Take" is iconic. I didn't hate listening to this album by any means and would be happy to listen to it if someone else put it on, but it didn't hit me as an iconic album I'll be coming back to personally.
It took me some time to adjust to the way the singer's voice sounds, but I like a handful of the songs.
I liked it to start with, just got a little bit tired of listening by the end but I enjoyed the album overall!
I am decidedly not the audience for this album. Smoke on the water, though!
Hozier adjacent, but mopier. Not a bad listen, but I either wasn't in the headspace for this or it's too mopey for me.
The makers of this list are trying to bore me to death. There's nothing of note here, and there are much better examples of indie music that don't require you to listen to 69 songs to finish the album.
Some of the "songs" barely meet a minute long. Let's be so fr.
I like this album more than the other nick cave album on the list! Even added a couple songs to my likes.
Very 60's music, I'm surprised this was considered an experimental album. The only songs I find all that experimental are "Sunday Morning", which sounds VERY contemporary, "Heroin" for it's dissonance at the end, "The Black Angel's Death Song", and "European Son". None of these are experimental by today's standards I think, but I could see it being experimental back in the 60's. I don't hate this album by any means, but I don't love it.
This is just an album that hits all the right noted for me. Nothing more to add to that.
Nothing too groundbreaking, but seeing these reviews... some of y'all need to loosen up. Sometimes music is fun.
I think this is a fine album, but nothing stands out to me in particular. Maybe I'm not a blues person.
I was scared of Alice in Chains going into this album, but was surprised to find that I thought this album was pretty good. You learn something new every day!
I enjoyed this more than I would have thought. I'm finding that I REALLY like jazz and jazz-related music.
I get the sincere feeling that I haven't gotten to David Bowie's best work yet, but I do really like the last 3 songs on this album. I've yet to pull Ziggy Stardust, so hopefully that's soon!
What am I supposed to do, not enjoy Ray Charles?
I think I'm not a big fan of the vocal performance on this album. I'm not sure what bothers me about it. It was fun to finally get to hear this album, though.
This is a very British pull, because I don't think this album made it big in America. I was very 50/50 on the songs, but I do like the overall sound. I'm going 3 for my rating, but a very high 3-- a 3.99, if you will.
I really like the tone of the singer's voice.
Not for me. Didn't love the singer's vocal tone and the songs were too similar for me.
I can definitely hear what people like in this music, but it's not for me. I would enjoy it live, but not anywhere else.
I get why the hits on this album are the hits: I don't love the tracks that aren't "Relax" or "War", they lean too hard into the 80's cheesiness for me. But I do think it's an interesting album, and I don't hate any of the songs.
I'm not usually a hard rap person but I enjoyed this album!
I just am not someone who super enjoys songs like the ones on this album.
I am not angry enough for this album.
I enjoyed most of the songs well enough. A high 3 stars, for sure.
Goes back to some of my roots (Louisiana), so I enjoyed this album! If Bourbon Street's vibe was an album, this is what it would sound like.
I like some songs from both sides of this record, but I think the album suffers from the second half being not of the concept, so it feels like 2 totally differebt albums.
Not my favorite Taylor album, but I did enjoy it-- it's VASTLY better than her most recent album (The Life of a Showgirl), but not as memorable as the album before this one (Folklore).
I'm so glad Kate Bush is finally getting her flowers in pop culture, she is INCREDIBLE. I don't know that I agree that "The Dreaming" is the most normie-friendly album of hers, but she kills it anyways.
I'm usually not a country person but who could ever dislike Johnny Cash! Nobody does it like him anymore. He oozes charm and charisma on this live record.
This is the 3rd Bowie album I've gotten in this generator and FINALLY, a Bowie album I enjoy. I like the songs he sings on, Heroes is iconic and Bowie is a master of his craft. I also LOVE well constructed instrumenal tracks, and that's the entire back half of this album. Thank you, David Bowie.
It gave me a light headache halfway through, which is crazy because I found this album v boring.
Not my all-time favorite album, but I did enjoy listening to it.
There were songs I enjoyed and songs that I enjoyed a little less, but it was certainly interesting! I've never heard of Frank Zappa, so it was a fun surprise to get this jazz album.
Led Zeppelin are an icon. That being said, I feel v meh about this album.
I really like Neil Young's voice! It carries a lot of my enjoyment of this album.
I like this Leonard Cohen album way more than the last one I got of his! I'm not sure what it is that I enjoy about this album that I didn't of his last, but this one hit for me. High 4/5 for this one!
I think Black Sabbath are not for me, but Iron Man is a hit forever.
It took me a second to get this album, but I ended up enjoying this album solidly enough!
Still not 100% sure on how I feel about this one. Wild mix of like folk and and country and ren fest music?
I mean, what can I even say? It's Michael Jackson! Even on this early solo album, his songs still sound fresh and relevant. Some of the songs aren't as catchy aa he would later perfect his music to be, but everything is just so good you can't help but enjoy it. He was (and really still is( the king of pop for a reason.
Not sure why I got this album generated to me a second time, but it's still a phenomenal album, so another 5 stars for Wonderwall.
