Haven’t listened to this album in full In forever keeping mostly to the few songs in my playlist. But was really happy to go back and remember just how good this whole album is.
Absolutely love bowie. But regardless of how much you like someone’s art like any artist with an extensive catalogue not everything is going to hit the same. I still appreciate this album for what it is.
Incredible vocals unfortunately paired with mostly boring and uninteresting instrumentals. Don’t let the stars get in your eyes and busy being blue are by far the standout songs.
After the first few songs I was so ready to give this my first 5. Truly felt like I was floating in space as the name suggests, however there were a few songs that really took me out of the experience I was having with this album. Still an extremely solid album I will be returning to.
Incredible production as is the standard for a dre album. I found the lyrics even for the time to be very uninspired and kind of annoying on some certain tracks that aspect sadly did not age all too well. Everything else about this holds up however.
The fact this is in the top 250 greatest albums list is a sin. There are 250 blues albums more interesting and original than this pile of crap. Also fuck Eric Clapton
A lot that I love as is with every funkadelic album I’ve heard. As compared the other albums I’ve heard it is sadly a little less interesting but still an incredible listen regardless.
Was ready to give this a 1 after the first three songs. Thankfully from peer pressure onwards this was a solid 4.
An incredible voice that is just accompanied by music I couldn’t get into. Still some songs kept me going through my listen. I don’t get it, 200 more miles, and sweet Jane were certainly the stand outs for me
A mostly pleasant experience. There were a few songs in the back half I have never gotten around to listening too. Some new favourites but a couple that were so hard to sit through as well. Could have dialled back the experimentalism a tad here and there.
A really nice simple album to play in the background. In comparison to the other kink albums I’ve listened too this one does not have any songs of real substance to make me want to return. But for what it is it was a fun listen.
I really could not stand his voice sadly. I gave the album a good try and there were a song or two where I had a decent time but when it’s just him and a guitar or a piano I couldn’t stand it.
A really solid album. May be a new favourite for this style of mid 2000s it aged insanely well which is made even more impressive by the amount of albums that were very set in their times. Will 100% be returning again.
A lot I feel could have been interesting that is just drawn out and left as uninteresting and boring as humanely possible.
AC/DC is a strange band that somehow manages to create at least one really great song per album that becomes an all time classic. And then proceed to spend the rest of their albums creating simple generic rock songs that are so hard to hate and also love they just kind of exist.
I have listened to a few other Suzanne Vega albums previously that I felt were really fun and engaging and would all easily be a 4 or 5. Sadly they had to choose the one album that was the most uninteresting to me in my opinion. I recommend any other Vega album to listen too before you die over this one
A simple but fun half hour of quick pop punk songs. Nothing too interesting but didn’t find myself hating it either.
The first jazz album I ever heard when I was a kid. I’ve always felt it did everything it set out to do as perfectly as it could and it’s a reason it’s still spun on my record player so often. Just as chill of a time as ever.
An interesting 24 track album. I felt it fell flat for a majority of the time. Pinball wizard, underture brought this up from a 2 to a 3 I felt they were by far the most complete and interesting tracks of the album. The rest all had some sort of issue I did not enjoy, whether it was the annoying high pitched vocals or uninteresting instrumentals.
After only hearing the hits enough to make me never want to hear Adele again. After 10 years I’ve come to find I have a new appreciation for her that I didn’t realize earlier on. Every single song on this album feels like it could have been over played on the radio and I mean that in the best way possible. Simple but so much to grasp onto and enjoy.
For someone seemingly so influential I can’t name the amount of albums that have done this exact sound but better. It’s very unfortunate the one to get popular had to be such a massive piece of shit thank god this is the only Lewis album on the list.
An album seemingly begging to open up and embrace its interesting concepts but feels consistently tamed and kept quiet. Wished more from this.
Revisiting this album listening as an older person with a sober mind I still enjoyed this album a lot. The title track even though 20 minutes long is an incredible journey that keeps itself fresh and interesting with every new part. Passage to Bangkok was great felt it got a bit uninteresting in the middle but ended off strong with something for nothing.
A hard album to rate for me struggled between a 3 and a 4. Jeff and every other instrument is a very strong 4 but rod brings this album down with his lyrics.
Loved coyote and black crow. Felt the rest had less to latch on too. An interesting album though for sure
The most garage band sounding ass piece of shit I’ve listened to in a long while. How In the hell is this on the list? Mix that with her annoying vocal deliveries and you’re in for 40 minutes of hell.
A vast improvement from the debut album I listened to a few weeks ago. The lyrics were still a little childish and silly but the songs themselves were structured a lot better and had a bit more going for it instrumentally. Same with my previous review just good dumb fun but also slightly more interesting to listen too
Growing up I enjoyed the scientist it gets stuck in my head from time to time. Going through the whole album however I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed a whisper and the self titled song. This was a much more enjoyable experience than I thought it would be
From the uk grime I’ve heard previously I enjoyed most of what I heard. This felt like a parody I legitimately found myself laughing at the album at parts.
Begins and ends with clear 5/5 songs. Sadly couldn’t rate the album that high cause the middle can be a real chore to sit through at time's.
Some really interesting ideas here that I just felt were ruined by repetitiveness nonsense. Some of these songs truly could have been 30 seconds long.
Was really excited going into this with the abundance of artists featuring on songs I knew and loved. The first song with Santana was really cool but I just felt it got less interesting as it went on. Each song was fun for a minute but after 2 to 3 minutes I just wanted each song to end. Still a really cool album at parts atleast
Certainly is a chore.
I grew up not quite enjoying KOL. This is the one album I never got around to listening to cause I just didn’t see the point. I didn’t hate this as much as I thought I would however but still just dislike so many aspects of the band as a whole.
Thank god this is the last Clapton album on the list.
It’s so unfair to rate Bowie cause theres half a dozen albums he’s made that could by perfect 5 out of 5. Makes it hard to rank them too. But if I had to choose this is for sure in my top 3.
This could have been a decent 3 but the singer is absolutely annoying for most of the songs insanely difficult to sit and listen too. Move over was the highlight of the album though.
Wasn’t a big fan most of the songs. Nothing too offensive but a lot of it seemed a bit of a slog to get through. somewhere was a really enjoyable listen however wish more of the album was like that one.
Used to be in my top albums of all time list I feel as I’ve aged there were some songs I don’t enjoy as much as I used too but still a really good fun album
A gripe I have with the book is it’s need to put an influential artists debut album before their more interesting or important pieces of work can be kind of annoying. Really enjoyed the title track at least
This could potentially be in contention for the worst thing I’ve ever had to sit through. What they’d use to torture prisoners.
Despite this album not being consistently perfect I think there are far more incredible highs than lows. Can’t help but be moved
Have never fully dived into any CCR album previously. Really enjoyed the handful of hits I’ve heard over the years so finally getting to dive in was a real treat. Listened to this while on a long drive and I feel it’s how it’s best played. Will be delving into more albums soon cause they’re just so much fun.
Really didn’t want to add on to the Elvis hate I really gave this a good try. The one plus I have is I really enjoyed the instrumentals at times but sadly that was it. I found myself physically cringing at some of the lyrics and Costello’s voice is very irritating I’m really not looking forward to the next hundred Costello albums I’ll be subjected to on this journey.
This is one of the few talking heads albums I never got around to getting through entirely. I really enjoyed the songs I liked that I had heard previously but this album despite still being a 4 star album was a bit disappointing.
Was excited when I saw I got the beegees. Was hoping for some dumb fun but sadly this wasn’t it. Once I realized how vastly my expectations were off I still gave this a good try with a fresh view but even with that there were still so many gripes I had with this.
Never gave nick a chance but I really enjoyed this.
Started listening with headphones but realized this was much more suited for speakers. Was a much more enjoyable listen. Miles runs the voodoo down was my standout favourite.
Really decent album to have playing in the background when you’re just relaxing. Standout song was dirty trip.
An interesting journey of an album with some very high highs and some very low lows. The first few songs and ofc the message were really fun to listen too. There were some tracks in the middle that I feel veered off course a bit too far. Still fun experience
