Ah, AC/DC - Power chords and poorly written metaphors about vaginas. That’s all folks.

You get what you expect with acdc. I liked that about this album even tho it is not really my favourite sound in rock. I like bon Scotts voice a lot on this record. Steady album, it does what it promisses

I didn’t think this was as good as Back in Black which seemed to have a more powerful punch. Maybe because it had more hits or maybe I prefer Brian Johnson’s vocals? Not quite sure why, but this album was still rocking and I enjoyed it.

I’m not sure if there is a better opening to an album than that guitar riff for Highway to Hell. With that said, this isn’t AC/DC’s best work. It’s a good listen and seems to be what broke them into the American market, but its a solid rock album for sure.

It's AC/DC. Sounds just like all their other albums....and thank goodness for that because the all rock!

highway to hell - absolutely iconic opening track, total banger. girl got rhythm - fun rock song, prolly misogynistic lyrics but fun walk all over you - enjoyed the intro, another fun one touch too much - good groove, why is every song on this album abt sex? beating around the bush - good playing between drums and guitars shot down in flames - all starting to sound the same and blend together get it hot - starting to get sick of guitars if you want blood - swear they've already had this song on the album bro love hungry man - really hoped this one would be a piano ballad night prowler - guess what more guitars verdict, all fun on there own but as a whole album pretty repititive

Classic classic rock. I love that they’re known as Acca Dacca in their home country of Australia

Niente l’hardcore rock mi fa cagare Questo comunque meglio degli altri per ora Almeno highway to hell è un bel pezzo Però porcodio so tutte uguali ste canzoni

The title track obviously unimpeachable. Rest of the album is solid

AC/DC didn't really do much for me here. The music felt repetitive and dull... the singer frankly sounds like he'd been punched in the stomach repeatedly before the recording session. Hoping for something better today.

AC/DC has to exist as a structural foundation of what rock music is. Their guideline is what allows others’s experimentation to be experimentation and I appreciate them for that. As a result, their simplicity and powerful rock energy possesses clear appeal, but still causes the level of intrigue in their sound to generally fall short for me. There is little here to truly dislike, but also little to fall in love with. 1 listen Favorite Track: Title Track

Sat on that 4-5 wall for 2-3 days and finally got to a 5 decision. Love AC/DC but outside of the epic/iconic title track, this was unfamiliar.

Ålreit.

Mostly solid expect for the line “a body of Venus with arms” in Touch Too Much. That is a terrible line.

Anytime AC/DC comes on the radio I break the speed of sound to change the channel. I've heard every song a million times. Yet, somehow listening to an entire album I start to get into it. Lots of cool guitar work on this album.

3.5 - I'm shocked to learn that I enjoy AC/DC songs that I've never heard before more than I would have expected. I knew several as well.

Pretty good but samey

Classic Aussie rock and a gateway album into harder rock for most antipodean’s

Yeah, they are fun and all. Classic on fact, but is there more meat and two veg band out there?

Wow. I was fully expecting this to be one of those where I have a particularly strong personal vendetta and have to concede that the one star is mostly out of spite and the album has more merit than I’d given it credit for. But this really is astonishingly bad. One riff throughout, one drum beat throughout, and they’re not even good?! The most rancid vocal delivery I’ve ever heard, moronically coarse lyrics. Just irredeemably awful.

Why does he sing like that? Does Jack Black like AC/DC by any chance? Without seeing him do funny faces while playing it's about 70% less entertaining

Not bad! Back in Black was better, but this album rocks. If you like great guitar licks and solos, you'll love this.

Very up my street

Opening track sets the tone for the album and they stay in that lane the whole album, but it's a great lane to stay in so I cant complain. I've liked AC/DC but more so in small bites rather than a full project. It's good but feels exhausting by the end. Regardless though great guitars.

Every song sounds the same and the song sounds good but come on guys! Bumped up for highway to hell bc how could I not

I'm glad I finally heard this album. It's been on the list for awhile. I love the energy of the album.

This is “Mowing the yard at 6:00am on a Saturday,” music. This is “Changing the oil in your old lady’s car,” music. This is “Grilling,” music. I can say that this is repetitive and not bursting at the seams with creativity but they are unapologetic about that. They make music for people who just want loud, quick bites of rock. This isn’t there best in the lot but don’t expect it to get much different from here on out

More like highway to bad lyrics and mediocre riffs This music can be fun, but it mostly just comes across as pandering, hollow, and soulless.

I was intrigued at first because I wondered: does AC/DC do anything other than the high-voltage riffs and vocal frying of their hits? The answer: no, silly! They ARE who we THOUGHT they were: a louder and way less interesting version of the Stones. Get outta town!

Anything AD/DC is good!

8/10 This album sounds EXACTLY like what you'd expect from an album that starts with Highway to Hell: heavy guitars and drums, anthemic yet sometimes shrieking vocals, catchy tunes, that stereotypical obsession with sex that 70s rock bands had. I'm not usually interested in this kind of music but I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would.

Basically all their songs sound the same, and I prefer Back in Black. But it’s always fun to throw an AC⚡️DC record on and jam out for a while. 3.5⭐️

What can you say. This is an absolute banger and the last with Bon as lead singer. Gotta be 5/5. Not much better than AC/DC.

It's good music for a soundtrack, or to play in the background, but not something I'd enjoying listening often.

Highway to Hell is a certified classic.

This is what of think of when i think of a rock band. I was surprised that the title track was the only one I knew, but really the whole album is full of the same kinds of riffs and salacious lyrics. Such a shame this was Bon Scott's last album. This project is making me realize how creatively fertile & influential the mid-to-late 70s were.

Shout out Ron! This album is heavily carried for me by 3 songs. Highway to Hell is an all-time classic, Beating Around the Bush, and If You Want Blood (You've Got It). The rest of the songs are a little less memorable to me and just another 4/4 Rock rhythm. 3/5 would be higher if more songs stood out to me more.

Another that I feel weird about liking as much as I do. 4 Boolean: True

Highway to hell is the only hit on this album but the rest of the tracks have that standard AC/DC sound

Instantly recognisable rock. Not my go to but a great album, focus on love and ladies and huge guitar sound. Excellent for its genre and time.

#272/1001 🇦🇺 I know how revered ACDC are but I just can't get over Bon Scott's vocals. Never liked them. Its not a terrible record but i'm never going to love it. Best Track: Highway to Hell.

I know I've drunkenly danced to this album at a party or two in my youth, so for me, it's just party music for keggers. And aside from the title track, there is nothing else that sells this album.

A couple songs are undeniable all-time BANGERS but the album just isn't their best work.

Much of what I wrote a few weeks ago about "Back in Black" also applies to "Highway to Hell". This album propelled AC/DC to the height of their popularity. It was the last album to feature the band's original singer, Bon Scott, who died tragically shortly after its release. "Highway to Hell" is the quintessential album of the Bon Scott era. The sound had been perfected and the songwriting was spot on. Musically, there was nothing new: riff-driven, blues-style compositions with lyrics about 'real men's issues'. rock ’n’ roll, alcohol, heaven and hell, women, sex and ambiguous sexual connotations. The album features the iconic tracks “Highway to Hell", “Girls Got Rhythm” and “Touch Too Much”. Setting aside the well-known tracks, the remaining material is musically more than solid AC/DC stuff. From today's perspective, the lyrics are cringe-inducingly sexist — pure cliché — yet clichés are an integral part of hard rock culture. When it comes to AC/DC, it's a choice between this album and its follow-up, "Back in Black". But to be honest, after four, five songs, you already know the complete AC/DC catalogue.

Sex, rock, and roll

On paper I should like AC/DC, but I just find them a bit grating. Vocals get on my nerves and the guitar tone just gets on my nerves after a while. This album is better than some of their others though but I can’t say I’ll be coming back to it any time soon. 3 stars

Who doesn’t love a bit of AC/DC? Who doesn’t love the sight of a grown man dressed has a school boy… well perhaps not. They are not a band I routinely reach for to listen on the sofa and listening on headphones should come with a health warning. But I find when doing a bit of housework or gardening any AC/DC track definitely passes the time. Whilst I have always been aware of them I never owned any of their albums until recently. Bought about 10 albums including this one for £10 on Vinted. An absolute bargain and as a result my home and garden has never looked better. 4/5 2/10/26

Bon scott !!!

There were a lot of times I thought songs sounded familiar. That’s because they sound like every AC/DC song ever.

Everything about this album is iconic. Great sound, possibly AC/DCs best, or close to it and the blusey influence on many of the songs is great.

its just very surface level

Hey, what's with the satanic album cover? Listening to the title track just feels cliched at this point. Far too overused in popular media, adverts, etc. I can't really enjoy it. Girls got rhythm was alright. Sounds like a standard rock song but nothing special. Same feeling about track 3. Epitome of generic rock. A very standard sound. Radiates boredom. Beating around the bush is my favourite track so far, despite having far less streams than the other songs.Fun guitar riff, just muhc catchier and interesting than the others. Shot down in flames was also decent. Love hungry man again was pretty solid. It seems the lesser known songs on this album appeal more to my tastes. General feeling with this one is that it is generic rock. I don't hate it enough to give it 2 stars, but nor would I want to score higher than 4…It is forgettable, middle of the road rock.

Every song sounds the same. It's musically and lyrically bland. Never understood the appeal. Still don't.

Two of the first cassette tapes I owned were Def Leppard's Pyromania and The Cars' Heartbeat City. Like Highway to Hell, those albums are all produced by Mutt Lange. Lange is probably best known as the ex-husband of Shania Twain. But for one shining moment, he produced 100% of the music I listened to on cassette. I switched to buying CDs exclusively and as I built out my collection I never thought of adding an AC/DC album. It is not that I am anti-AC/DC. I just never thought to delve deeper into the AC/DC discography. Highway to Hell, apart from the title track, does little to change my mind.

a real tragedy (for me, specifically) that the lyrical content and singing of bon scott falls leagues away from the quality of the rest of the music. if i don't focus on the lyrics, and i pretend there isn't singing, i actually really, really like the solid guitar riffs. but this album is asking me to listen to questionable lyrics layered over some phenomenal guitar work, so it winds up being a sour 3 stars from me. highlights - highway to hell, touch too much, if you want blood (you've got it), love hungry man

TL;DR: AC/DC do one thing really well and this is pretty much their peak. BEFORE: I know what I'm getting myself into here. AFTER: Yep it's still really fantastic. There is nothing complicated about AC/DC and you either like this stuff or you don't. I do. HIGHLIGHTS: The grubby lyrics that are all about either rocking, fucking, fighting or drinking, that one drum beat the Phil Rudd knows, the great backing vocals, the memorable riffs and solos, that bassline on Love Hungry Man and most of all the massive hooks they keep wringing out of the same 4 or 5 chords and the pentatonic scale. VERDICT: 5 stars.

Son ellos; los amas o los odias. De vez en cuando, los amo.

Better than I thought I enjoyed some of the songs a lot

Liked Touch Too Much.

Good shit. Maybe the most impish cover I've ever seen. 4.1

One hit classic, and the rest is an AC/DC album. Kinda like all the rest of ‘em. That AC/DC alley in Melbourne is cool though.

It’s not “Back in Black” but it’s a solid album. Heavy without being too glaringly loud, naughty without being gross, and generally a fun good time album for which AC/DC is justifiably well known.

Highway to Hell.

It is AC/DC. Nothing more, nothing less. Variations on a theme, which depending on your view, is either a great strength or a fundamental weakness. I don’t mind it in small doses and this was just about the right length to qualify as a small dose.

It’s dumb and to the point but I can’t deny that it doesn’t pretend to be something it’s not. It gets a little tiresome having a whole album of what feels like rehashes of the same idea but in short doses it’s alright.

none stood out to me too much but not bad

It's a great album with some standout tracks like highway to he'll. After a while though his voice grates on me and it all sounds a bit repetitive.

This is pretty good, maybe better than Back in Black.

This was the soundtrack of the lowest point in my life. The good, bad, and ugly, Bon Scott was always there to growl and scream into my ears. In my humble opinion, this is the final AC/DC record. Both iterations of the band peaked with these back to back albums (Scott’s ACDC with Highway to Hell, and Johnson’s ACDC with Back in Black) The difference? Bon Scott’s ACDC made nothing but classics. This being no exception. Yeah it’s a lot more commercialized than say a Powerage before it, but damn. This one just rips front to back with slezy lyrics, dirty riffs, and energy that makes me want to fucking party. Sure “back in black” was good radio play, but I just don’t feel anything in Brian Johnson’s music in comparison to these original records. This band has always been about greasy feeling rock & roll, and damn they just sound so primal here. Some of my favorite riffs by Angus and the boys on this record. Genuinely couldn’t tell you my favorite record off this one, but I’m always gonna be biased for Touch too much and walk all over you.

What do I think about this. Growl bark growl bark. It’s rock and roll though and it’s good the guitars and the solos feel earned. Night Prowler is the perfect end to an amazing this hardcore. It feels like the Highway to Hell, we are subjected to so much hedonism, this is what the stones should be I’ll say it I don’t wanna compare art but honestly this feels like unique and different it’s kinda a sleeper. You listen to it a few times and you hear the love and passion more to say but this is well done and cared for it seems. Touch too much could

A pretty standard rock music appreciation arc goes something like this: Stage 1: AC/DC friggin' rocks! Stage 2: AC/DC is way overrated and boring. They just do the same thing over and over again. Stage 3: AC/DC friggin' rocks! I'm at Stage 3.

I'm curious to see how this fares with everyone else, but it's the AC/DC album isn't it? I've had a copy of this record for decades and unlike many of my other records it still gets played fairly frequently.

Here I am just walking down the street in my dirty white T-shirt, looking for trouble and watching my back. Dirtbag white boy scummy blues. Inject it in me.

I was never a fan of this group, and after listening to this album, I'm still not a fan. What's with all the screaming?

One of the greatest rock and roll albums of all time.

As a true blue Aussie I feel obliged to give this a 5 but alas I cannot. I love a few AC/DC songs, Back In Black being the #1. Highway to Hell kicks this album off nicely but i feel the rest of the album falls flat.

Good archive box hauling music.

Your Dad´s favorite album

+5 Stars because every song could have been a single. They are all catchy rock bops, plus one slightly different tune at the end. -1 Star because almost every song is a catchy rock bop, sounding very much like the one before it. Great songs, but no "album flow".

There’s not much to critique. Bon Scott has an amazing voice and all the tracks feel like quality work. But it’s just hard to connect with anything beyond the singles I’ve already heard. Feels like the same track every time with Minimal difference.

3 when you ignore the lyrics.
