The Beatle (singular)
The dream pop group of all time, its not even my favorite album by them but good god is it good.
It started of fine and there were some moments i liked, but it went for way to long and there are some really bad moments too. Couldve been tolerable if it was like half as long. But then it still wouldnt be good, i would just not hate listening to it as much.
Its like the smiths if they were boring
Theres a right and a wrong way to do theatrical music, and this definitely does it wrong. Why exactly is this on the list? Especially over a bunch of albums that are both really good and have proven to be super influential.
Has clear highlights that you keep waiting for during the listen, which makes the other moments a bit less enjoyable. Still a classic.
Pretty nice sounding jazz album. Maybe I just like it cuz Im not much into jazz yet tho
Maybe my favorite talking heads album? It is catchy and accessible yet its not afraid to go out there either. For now 4 stars but might grow honestly.
Expected more out of this tbh. Has some cool tracks, but the rest is just really forgettable, even if it doesnt necessarily sound bad.
Its good but its Stevie Wonder so ofcourse its good.
Really good i like it a lot
Sadly didnt really do it for me :( i knew it wasnt going to be more like song 2 cuz i know thats kind of a parody song but i wish it was more like song 2 anyways
This was great, altho the formula got a bit old by the end. Still a really fun listen
Was pretty fun but got a bit boring after a while
Definitely not my favorite queen album but it still has some great tracks on it.
What can i say its a classic I cannot hear behind blue eyes in the same light after that damn limp bizkit cover tho
If i was in a different state of mind i might love it but for now i was just kinda bored a lot of the time. its not bad tho
Moby more like Moboring
I get that this is probably very influential and everything but i just dont think this kinda stuff holds up nowadays
shout out to whoever mixed this cuz it sounds better then some studio recordings from now and its a live album from the 70s
Sounds good, also its just interesting that this is at a prison i think
it was fine but i didnt really care for the second half at all
I really enjoyed this album it has some real good songs
Yea this album is just annoying (its a pixies related thing after the good years of the pixies is not that surprising)
Good album i like it!!
Listened to this while hungover and tired but i think i liked it, if maybe a bit long
Really enjoyed this one, especially the female vocals on this are spectacular
BANGER ALBUM WITH BANGER SONGS
Radiohead folk
Sounded pretty solid but i got kinda bored like halfway through
Its like the smiths if they were boring
really enjoyed this one tbh, just some really solid 90s pop tunes
YEEEEEEAAAAAAAA ROCK THE FUCK ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This style has been done before in better ways, which leaves little reason to listen to this one. And then its also waaaaaayyyyy to long. I feel like theres still something here, and who knows, maybe I decide to return to it someday and will love it, but for now, I really dont care about this one.
Holy shit it is so good her voice is so good the music is also so good
Cmon its kid a whats left to say
Eh i dont think its aged that well why does he hate women
Its pretty good but not really my thing, thats not an issue with the record tho, thats on me
Every song sounds the same on this. It starts out fine, but after like 2 tracks it gets boring and then u still have like the whole album to go.
Like :)
I like it but can this thing stop giving me old people music
Its Stevie Wonder ofcourse its good [2]
I liked it but it sounded a bit like Bowie but thats fine cuz i like Bowie
I was bored after like 2 tracks lmao
good
Pretty good but why would i listen to this if i could just listen to ziggy stardust
Love the live atmosphere it adds a lot imo
ANTI PROG ACTION 2023 WHOS WITH ME?????
This music queer af wtf (positive)
God i love being a bad ass queer bitch
Its fine but i think i dont really get blur or something
cmon now
Wow they sure unplugged my mtv!
Why would you EVER use that font for an album that sounds like this
I like the ideas and to a certain extent the execution as well, but I think the songs often go for a bit to long, which makes it so that I'd rather listen to other trip hop albums (including their own Mezzanine). That first track is really damn good tho.
Used to hate on this shit but its actually pretty good Fuck Johnny Ramones fake punk ass tho
Cmon now its the hippity hoppity how could i not
It reminds me of advertisements for nice summer holidays. Which is a negative because those always remind me about how much I don't wanna work tomorrow.
Some cool beats on this but they go on for a long time and listening to the whole album is kind of a drag
Fantastic album. The beats are great, the lyrics are great, the rhyme schemes are great, the features are great, I really dont see any issues with this.
Kinda the quintessential noise pop album. Has some amazing tracks, but also some filler. Still great!
This is not bad, but I can't really bring myself to care about it all that much. Probably more of a me problem tho.
He is an amazing storyteller, and the instrumentals sound great. Close to 5 stars tbh.
Ambient and atmospheric, but still engaging
Of course I like the weird experimental one
Solid metallica album, altho far from their best. Aside from a couple tracks i dont come back to this much.
The lyrics and storytelling are really good, but the instrumentals are often a bit basic and it's kinda the same for the whole album.
I wasnt sure at the start (altho the opener is great) but this album really picked up and i really liked it! Special shoutout to the production.
First half of the album is pretty much perfect, but it does fall off a bit on side B. Still a great album.
Oh they wanna be a hardcore punk band sooooo bad! There's a lot of metal with better riffs, better lyrics and better vocals then this. Oh well, at least the title is accurate.
Definitely a really cool listen! I always love the guitarwork with this band. Definitely not my favorite Dire Straits release, that goes to Love over Gold, but still a nice album!
I like it but why is this not tagged country on this site
Really great grunge album. As a whole, Soundgarden definitely is not my favorite band of the style (how could they when Nirvana, Alice in Chains and Babes in Toyland exist) but this album is undeniably really good.
The Beatle (singular)
I expected to dislike this, but it turns out even a lesbian can like some man asses.
I am so glad that they became popular enough to be producing music for so many artists nowadays. Fantastic album.
Lol! Old people music!!! (I like this album)
Come on now everyone knows this album is great and influential to this day
Sadly not a big fan of this :( I like a lot of the traditional instrumentation and stuff, but I dont like how they add cheesy synths and stuff all the time. I heard his other stuff is more traditional, so maybe I will listen to that sometime.
He's a really bad person and I hate him for that, but I cannot deny he has made some of the best hiphop music ever.
Hes like a good guitarist or whatever, but it feels like he is just good at guitar in the technical sense and not in the way Jimi Hendrix was good at guitar. I dont feel anything when Santana plays, I can appreciate the talent, but thats where it ends for me. Also fuck him for being a transphobic piece of shit.
Whats up with these classic soul albums having one fantastic song in the beginning and then the rest is just fine
Really good! Very simple, but that works in its benefit
This sucks and i hate it Also why is anybody saying this guy invented punk right here first of all i fail to see anything here that could be influential to punk and if there was he would be far from the first Racist pedophile piece of shit
Jesus this album is boring, shame that there is a bunch of good classic rock music but a lot of the popular stuff is just like this. I dont think I have heard a classic rock album thats more of a chore to listen to then this one.
Lot less fun and exciting then what i was hoping for based of tainted love, but its still solid for what it is.
Im not that big of a fan of this whole style, but this is a pretty solid album.
Just an album full of really enjoyable britpop tunes
It started of fine and there were some moments i liked, but it went for way to long and there are some really bad moments too. Couldve been tolerable if it was like half as long. But then it still wouldnt be good, i would just not hate listening to it as much.
The dream pop group of all time, its not even my favorite album by them but good god is it good.
Ok but why is it so boring
This record works well as background music, but is also engaging enough to listen to actively.
I knew i wasnt gonna rate this high anyway, judging how he whitewashed rock n roll by doing songs by black artists but worse, but i underestimated how boring this album would actually be to listen to.
Low-life, more like ur a lowlife if u dont like new order
At first i wondered why this was on the list, but i think this illustrates a nice exploration of gender and identity in a pop music format. Musically its not reinventing the wheel, but its a style i like and its well written, so its enjoyable to listen to.
Great way to start the morning
This sure is a jazz album, and it sure is good too.
Idk much about salsa, but this had some cool instrumental moments, just got a bit samey towards the end.
Damn, been a while since i last listened to this, but it still rocks as hard as ever. The death metal edge to this really adds a lot to what would otherwise be an already quite good thrash record.
It was ok. Couple great songs and for the rest its a bit middle of the road. They play it a bit safe and they dont do anything all that daring with the style, but for what it is its still solid.
Now this is some cool jazz...
Its alright, but aside from a couple tracks this is really not all that exciting
First half of this album is incredible, second half is just pretty good
Im often not that big of a fan of this classic disco style because it all sounds very similar, but its well done here and still an enjoyable listen.
The general sound is unique and sounds really good, and i like his voice a lot
This isnt as good as the best Beatles material, but for someone who beat his wife its still damn great.
really good!
I dont enjoy a lot of this bands more popular songs (mainly 'pretty fly for a white guy'), and come out and play is one that i still dont like that much, but for the rest of it, this record is a blast and should be listened to if you like punk rock.
Theres a right and a wrong way to do theatrical music, and this definitely does it wrong. Why exactly is this on the list? Especially over a bunch of albums that are both really good and have proven to be super influential.
Fantastic album and an absolute classic. Hadnt listened to it for a while, but glad I returned to it again.
This album is pretty much perfect for me. The noisy style works so well here, and there is enough of their no wave roots in this to elevate the experience. They made some amazing records after this, but none of them really live up to this album for me.
This album is awesome. The horns add a lot to the music.
This album was a good blues album. Maybe i should get more into blues at some point.
Wow, i knew it would be good, but i didnt expect it to be THIS good! The star of the show here are the basslines, but everything about this record is awesome.
The best songs on this are amazing, but i dont think all the deep cuts live up to those amazing tracks. Still a great album.
The hits on this album are really good, but theyre all in the first half of the tracklist and the other tracks are not that interesting. Its a fine listen, and the good songs are genuinely great, but there is a good bit of filler.
Another really cool Bob Dylan album. I probably prefer Bringing it all back home still, because I feel like this album drops off a tiny bit in the second half, but its still really good.
Mostly kinda bored by this. The first songs is really good, but after that its not very interesting. Its still ok tho.
At first I wondered 'why does he keep going back to the chicken shack', but now I do in fact get why he keeps coming back to the chicken shack
Man, Radiohead isnt even one of my personal favorite bands, but I cant deny how consistently great they are. They got at least 3 or 4 almost perfect albums, and this is one of them.
The highlights on this record are really good, but for the rest its just kinda boring. Those highlights i will be returning to tho.
So goddamn boring. Hes like Bob Dylan if he was not as talented, was very annoying and didnt have stories as cool as him.
This is an insanely fun psychedelic pop album. A joy to listen to and very calming.
Its good cuz its Led Zeppelin and Led Zeppelin is good. There is honestly not that much more to it.
Like yeah, its Aretha so ofcourse its good... But this record has very clear highlights (which are amazing) which makes it so that the deeper cuts dont feel that special anymore. Still essential ofcourse, but as a full album listen, i dont think i will return to it much, ill just listen to my favorite songs from it instead.
Wont return to this much probably, but it was pretty solid while it was on
I really love the Smiths' music, especially Johnny Marr's playing. This is definitely not my favorite album by them, but its still really good.
I owe you an apology, Mr. Stevens. I wasn't really familiar with your game.
Really enjoyable! Sits at a nice point between jangly post punk and power pop. I like both of those things, so I also like this!
The Foo Fighters have made a lot of songs that i really like, but i had never listened to this album before. Honestly, this album is really not that good, none of the songs here really grabbed me and as an album it gets boring really quickly. At least they got better on their next album.
Not my personal favorite Depeche Mode album, but it does have a lot of good synthpop on it. Not every song is as good as the last, but the highlights here are really damn good and carry this album to a really good score.
Not as good as the other Roxy Music album I have heard (Country Life), and its all because of the second half, cuz the first half is fantastic. The second half is still ok, but sadly it doesnt even come close to living up to the first couple songs, which makes it a bit flawed as a full album experience.
The electronic selections on this list are so weird cuz so many classics (Discovery, Richard D. James Album, Tri Repetae, Untrue, Ape of Naples and Cosmogramma are a bunch of influential ones in different electronic styles) arent there but then they do put shit like this on there and Im just there like 'Why?'
Very nice Beatles-esque psych pop album. Ive listened to this album before, but its a joy to revisit each time.
Ok so, I respect this record and its super influential, but aside from a couple highlights, I think this is just ok.
This album is good. Its actually really good, but why is this here over like 4 of their other albums that are more influential then this one. Like yea this has the big hit song, but thats about it.
Episode a million of me not liking vocal jazz as much as instrumental jazz. Its solid tho.
ROCK THE FUCK ON OUGH
This album is very popular and influential, but personally I have always thought it was just ok. Definitely dont hate it tho.
I get why this site doesnt like it, cuz its very industrial, but personally I really enjoyed it.
Starts of really strong with the first 4-5 songs, but it does fall off a bit after that. The songs are still good, but the album is a bit long and gets a bit boring sometimes.
Really liked this.
The songs with rapping fucking suck and for the rest theres a few cool tracks but overall its just kinda boring. Also the production on this album is really not good.
Really good instrumental hiphop album. It is a bit long, but the songs are pretty much all good, so its not to big of an issue. Works best in the background.
Its a bit dated and a bit long, but it does work pretty well and the songs are fun to listen to. Altho I do realise the music is not the main reason this is here; this album was a surprise drop, which was pretty much unheard of at the time, especially in the mainstream. This album made stuff like that a lot more common. I also think its cool that every song has a music video. Reviews on this one show how insecure a lot of these classic rock dudebro's are about their music taste lol
Solid disco album. Doesnt do to much for me personally, but I cant deny the musicianship on this album.
I cant explain why, but I feel like the live atmosphere adds a lot to albums of this style. Very enjoyable listen.
Crazy how the first metal album is also one of the best metal albums
Really enjoy this. Loving the experimentation, and also the goth- and noise rock influences in this.
My god they think they are so smart, but its way to theatrical and annoying, so it all just feels like one big pretentious blur. Anti Prog Aktion is back everybody.
Dont be silly. Brasil is not in Africa!
My grandma is a huge fan of this man. I like it as well, but not as much as her.
Now those are some banging pop rock tunes! Give this guy a couple years, he may be the next one up!
Really enjoy individual tracks on this record, but I feel like it doesnt really come together as an album (probably cuz it doesnt have the movie attached to it)
Theres a few not so good moments on this record (the bridge of shake it off and the everything of bad blood come to mind), but for the rest this album is a masterclass in tight pop songwriting thats very enjoyable to listen to.
The raps on this are the cringiest shit ever, but if you dont take it to seriously, there is a but of charm to them. I like it the most when they go all in on the rock, as opposed to the strictly hiphop songs. Theres some good stuff here, but it does not blow me away.
uhm... Ray that doesnt sound very modern...
Not even my favorite Beatles album, but pretty much every song here is really great, very memorable and fun to listen to. I still dont care for yellow submarine on its own, but in the album context it honestly kinda works.
I get why people dont like this on here, cuz its surely not for anyone, but damn this record is ahead of its time! Im sure a lot of industrial artists were inspired by this album.
It makes a lot of sense that this is a post-Bikini Kill project, cuz it feels similar to what that band was doing, but in a more dancy indie direction. Sadly, I think this record gets hurt a lot by the first song being so damn good, cuz nothing else even comes close to that song, which just leaves me wanting more but never getting it. But its still pretty good overall.
Now that is some funky music!
Wait, this is amazing???
Its crazy that the first trip hop album is already so good. Also enjoyed it quite a bit more then protection, which I got earlier from this generator. That album was pretty solid too, but this one is consistently pretty good with some really big high points.
You need a truck thats built just like you... Buy the new Ford F 150!
Car commercial music. It even has a car on the cover.
I really enjoy the title track of this album, but for the rest it feels a bit style over substance. I'll just go listen to Prince instead.
Oooooooh yea. This album is poppy and fun, but also experimental, which makes for a cool and varied experience. One of my favorites when it comes to psychedelic pop.
The power of music that is so intertwined into a certain culture is that it feels really authentic and true to that culture. When you start bringing in elements from other music that is completely separate from that culture, all that authenticity gets lost. In this particular case, all thats left is just an album with boring songs that go on for way to long. He is also apparently like the worst guy ever. It did not influence my score, but its worth mentioning.
Everyone already knows this album is fantastic, but after relistening I am happy to report that it still is fantastic.
pretty good! cool vocals, especially for the style.
Not as good as some other wu tang related stuff, mostly because Method Man just isnt as good on the mic as a GZA or Ghostface Killah is. But its still a great 90s hiphop album!
oh thats some bluesy rockin!
I knew bittersweet symphony was a great track, but I didnt expect the rest of the album to be this good! Its a bunch of fantastic dreamy pop rock tunes, with really creative guitarwork and a really strong a beautiful atmosphere. Maybe the best sellout album ever.
Fantastic album. The guitar work is so memorable, but very creative and intricate as well. The garage edge to it makes it feel a lot more authentic as well.
This is solid, its a pretty creative punk album... but why isnt their self titled debut here instead of this? That would have been an easy 5, cuz its both quite a bit better and more influential then this album.
Despite being an 80s glam album, I still thought it would maybe be good, because it has Eddie van Halen playing on it. That definitely is the best part about it, but I still dont really care for this all that much.
This album is so annoying.
Sometimes I see people saying hiphop and punk are pretty similar to each other, and then some people get very mad (particularly punks). But albums like this show that its true.
This album is solid. It has a couple classic songs on it, but I cant say that I care to much for the rest of it. Definitely not bad tho.
I like this more for its influence then for how good it actually is. It has some good tracks tho.
Couple of solid tracks, but overall this feels extremely lackluster compared to some of its contemporaries
crab guy :)))
I know some of the later Pink Floyd albums, which are mostly really good, but I'm glad to see they started pretty strong as well. Really nice psych rock, altho it feels a bit less inventive then some of their later albums.
Oh damn, two Pink Floyd albums back to back. Well im not complaining. Definitely would not call this their best album by any means, but for what it is, its a very competent release with some really great songs on it.
Pretty awesome!
Nothing really bad here, and theres some cool instrumental choices, but overall this doesnt really do much for me. Also why is this classified as a country album.
Definitely has some songs that are much better then others, but those songs are so good that the album is still a really pleasant experience.
Im a big fan of 'Theres a riot going on'. That album is quite different from this one, but im happy to report this one is just as good. Also, 'Sex Machine' is the best song here, yall just dont get it.
The 80s had both some of the best and some of the worst music ever released. This is an example of the latter.
Really solid old school pop punk album. Too bad Green Day isnt really that good anymore in their later years.
One of the best examples of the exploration of death in music. Yea, the context matters a lot to this album, but why should that detract from it?
This is pretty good, but only a few songs really stand out to me. For the rest it just kinda washes over me.
Man miss me with this boring bullshit
Album starts of fantastically with those first two tracks, but after that theres a bunch of tracks that feel a bit to long, causing the album to drag on a bit. Still a pretty good offering from Prince.
Its good. I feel like theres not much more i can say about this. But i really enjoyed it.
The songs are good and the performances are passionate. Kind of more of the same compared to the other prison Johnny Cash album on this list.
Really fun early punk rock album. They pick a sound and mostly stick to it, but they do it well and it sounds great.
Fantastic vocals by Janis Joplin backed by some pretty solid blues rock instrumentation.
More like MIDtallica 🤣🤣🤣
damn they just got em hanging out like that? i respect it
Its hard to pinpoint what exactly makes this album so amazing for me. But pretty much every song on here just sounds great, has the exact length it should have, and is memorable after even 1 listen.
That title track is obviously iconic and great, but the rest of the album doesnt reach the same heights and feels like a bit of a disappointment in comparison.
Yea its not as good as their classic output, but for what it is this is still a really great shoegaze album, especially for a band this late in their career.
If you hear 'I want your sex' but you didnt want to listen to it, does that qualify as sexual assault?
Its solid, but a bit long and the concept doesnt do much for me. Musically i like it tho.
Having the first song being about young girls while the guy singing it is in his fourties at the time of release is not a good look
Its fun listening to these old experimental albums. Often you can find music that never got popular itself, but ended up influencing more accessible music that got popular and i think thats cool
Second half drops the ball so hard its not even funny
Nice chill country vibes. The storytelling is great.
Super ahead of its time, and still sounds great to this day
STOP WITH THESE 80S GLAM HARD ROCK ALBUMS I SWEAR TO GOD!!!
Sounds great! I love this 90s rock production, and the songs are catchy and have great hooks. Very fun listen!
Why are so many of the world music albums on this list albums that try to incorporate so much influence from western music. I wanna hear the actual world music, not some dumbed down westernified stuff.
I like the first track, after that it bores me a bit for the rest of it. Not that its bad, its solid, i just think progressive rock is not for me
Some cool stuff here. I dont really care for all of it, but some moments are really cool.
Yea, this sounds amazing. Awesome folky instrumentals with great vocals and amazing storytelling.
Not as bad as some of the other 80s glam rock/metal on this list, because some of the hooks kinda pop, but this still does absolutely nothing for me. Give me 70s glam over this shit any day.
Im a big PJ Harvey fan. This is not one of my favorites, but its still really good.
Has clear peaks that are much better then the rest, but those peaks are so high that its still a 4
Cant really say this is my thing, but its pretty solid
Pleasantly surprised by this one. I really dont care for Genesis at all, but this was pretty different from that, in a good way.
THE GOAT
Starts of with a goofy ahh beat, but after that its some nice experimental 60s psych music.
Its fine, but at some points it meanders a bit. The best moments sound really nice tho.
Its solid, but falls into the same trap a lot of other old hiphop albums do: Its way to long
