Strangeways, Here We Come
The SmithsI don't want to sound hyperbolic, but I think I regret the years I spent hating on The Smiths more than I regret some of the bad relationships I've had.

The power; the anguish; the angst. Fuck the system; fight the power; and Fuck Paul Ryan
One of my all-time faves. This debut album showed the world that Brit-alt was alive and well.
One of my favorite albums of all-time. Finished right after 9/11, it truly reflects vulnerability and pain.
The kind of voice and lyricist that illustrates why music is an art form.
Loved the sound and feel
Hidden Place is good; the rest is a bit iffy
Great album— loved it
First of all, 'Rikki Don't Lose That Number' is a bop. Second, this was a band that my parents listened to all the time when I was a kid and I thought they were ridiculous. Steely Dan is legendary.
One of my all-time faves. This debut album showed the world that Brit-alt was alive and well.
Man, that cat could swing.
Really enjoyed the sound-- very Beatles/Bryds-esque
One of the best hip-hop albums I've ever listened to. Smooth-- like a good bourbon with sick beats and lyrics to match. Q-Tip taking bodies.
Such a great "first" album here. Love the sound and it's nuts to think that Billy Joe and his band have been kicking ass since 1989.
Such a weird sound; Mike Peck is intrigued.
I do enjoy the Smashing Pumpkins; just don't love this album as much as Gish or Siamese Dream.
The ULTIMATE painful "sunny day" break-up album. When you hate her/him/them, but it's the summer and other albums simply won't do.
It's the most unhinged Beastie Boys, but it leads to some funky jams. Obviously. "Shadrach" is a banger but don't sleep on "The Sound of Science."
I mean... this album is great. That's all.
One of my favorite albums of all-time. Finished right after 9/11, it truly reflects vulnerability and pain.
Not my style, but I can appreciate it.
I mean, "School's Out" is a classic. But, outside the title track, the album doesn't 'wow.' It's a good sound, but not something that I would turn to again.
I'll admit-- I've never listened to Common. But, man, am I glad I did. Soulful, direct, this collab with Kanye is truly symphonic.
Appreciate the style; not something I'd come back to.
Really like his voice, just didn't like the album
Really enjoy New Order. It's crazy that this band is Joy Division, aside from the deceased Ian Curtis, and the the sound is so unique and driving.
I just started... I am nervous. I mean, it's just not my sound. I will say, \"Big Time Sensuality\" has that 90s disco vibe that slaps. But, I would be okay (and I know Jonah would, too), if I didn't hear Bjork for a long while.
Man, Depeche Mode. IMO, one of the most under-appreciated bands of the millennial/x generation. It has all of the sound that you'd expect us 'youngins' to like. It's my goal to listen to more of them. I love this album. Great to work to.
Man, Marvin Gaye is the shit
Interesting sound, not sure if I have an adequate comparison.
One of the best hip-hop/rap albums ever created.
The power; the anguish; the angst. Fuck the system; fight the power; and Fuck Paul Ryan
Well, this was a lot of fun. Never heard of these guys, but glad I have now.
acid/alt/pop. This is MGMT on MDMA.
Man, this is a good album. Oasis are like the best example of 90s/00s Brit-Alt.
One of my fave Beck albums, but y'all now I am addicted to Beck, so.
One of alt-Rock's \"what if's\" RIP, Elliott.
This a political BANGER.
Not a huge Rod Stewart fan, but I actually enjoyed some of this album!
I don't want to sound hyperbolic, but I think I regret the years I spent hating on The Smiths more than I regret some of the bad relationships I've had.
Not a fan of this... grungy and different, but not my favorite.
I do enjoy Johnny Cash and respect his music. Not something that I just turn on though
I had fun with this album.
I REALLY wanted to like this album more. I just... couldn't. It's a two for me. I can see how influential this album was to so many, but to me, it just really sounds like a few guys playing with synthesizers.
What a great, great album.
I actually didn't hate this album as much as I hated the other one. Sonic Youth is like Alice in Chains or like Nirvana. Just not as solid.
Shadow is a legend and this album is a perfect encapsulation as to why. Chill yet electric-- it showcases his talents as a DJ.
Eels are one of those bands that so many people haven't heard of that have such a wide range of potential appeal. Smoky and passionate, Eels really feel unique. This isn't even their best-- hoping for Electro-Shock Blues and Daisies soon!
Man, Big Star is that traditional rock band that you HAVEN'T heard of. Once you click, however, you'll stick.
I mean, it's not a bad album, but I was not nearly as impressed as I expected to be...
A really peaceful listen. Enjoyed the vibes.
Ok, so this album (or what I assume is this album, because I couldn't find this album, but I found an album that has this song) is incredible. I am totally getting this shit on vinyl and will be cooking and hosting people to this shit.
Well, this was an unexpected find. I loved it.
Likely the MOST influential rock band of the late 60's. Great album.
Pretty decent punk rock a la Britain
Never been a huge Santana fan, but this album has two of his greatest hits.
I enjoy this album, but it's not my favorite Deep Purple.
What a fun album-- love it.
I mean 'Come on Eileen' is a legendary song and this album is actually a bit of fun.
The kind of voice and lyricist that illustrates why music is an art form.
I appreciate it, but nah.
It was fine-- not as much as I enjoyed other Orchestral Maneuvers
It's a great album, one of my favorites. Previously listened during my run-through of the Rolling Stone's Top 500 Albums of All-Time!
This is one of those albums that I NEVER would've come across without this site. Thankfully, I did. What a weird, wonderful, eclectic collection of songs.
Just really felt like a random British pop group. Didn't stand out for me in any way.
I had high hopes for this album, but it was not very good.
A beautiful album. Just so damn good.
I really enjoyed this album! Tons of fun!
Slaps. Pretty. Fucking Hard.
Thought it was interesting. Not something I'd have found on my own.
Considered the "American Beatles," it's obvious to see why The Byrds took LA and California by storm. Their sound, at the time, seems so unique and original. But now, I just wish I was listening to The Beatles.
Not a huge fan of this album.
This is a surprisingly great album. I thought that 'Hallelujah' would be the gem, but it was certainly 'Last Goodbye' and 'Dream Brother.'
Man, I remember listening to this back in the 2000s. But, I don't remember having this much fun.
A pleasant surprise. May return to this one.
Ehhhhhhh probably won't listen to this again.
Decent album, but not Madonna's best.
Just not a big fan.
I mean it's FINE, but I'd like to take a break from 90's Hip-Hop...
Such an incredible album-- yeah it has the hits, but this album showcases George Michael's ability to take sound and make it unique.
I, for the life of me, cannot understand why this album is on this list. Just sounds very generic to me.
I hate saying "eh," but.... eh.
This was a chill experience. Had a good sound and enjoyed it with my morning.
My feelings regarding Bob Dylan are incredibly complex. On the one hand, I am aware that his music and unique sound revolutionized music and influenced so many. On the other, he stole much of his music from Appalachian artists, sounds repetitive, and can be annoying. This is likely his best album, however.
I forgot that she's much more than "All I Want for Christmas."
It was fine-- fun; fine.
Ooh man, I hated this.
Surprising mix of latin and electronica. Like it.
man-- I did not enjoy this.
A cool alternative discovery.
A transformative alt-rock album; sound is very ahead of its time and the future bands that were influenced by it are so palpable.
This was a surprisingly fun time.
How, how, HOW?! Did I not know about these guys? Electronica? Check. Weird? Check. FRENCH? Check. Man, I am glad I found them. They are fucking weird.
Likely one of the best albums of all-time. Such a showcase of talent.
ehhh.
Now, THIS is the 90's hip-hop I adore!
Probably won't listen to this album ever again.
It's the Beatles, but this is the EARLY years. Listening to this, it's apparent why they took the world by storm. They've not hit their full potential yet.
So, this album is not that good, but "Fit But You Know It" is a fucking banger.
A truly great musician-- a truly great (and weird) album.
Not a fan-- thanks, but no thanks.
Not great; not terrible
Yo, so this isn't NEARLY as Carboot Soul, but it's a great album. I am very mad it took so long for me to find Nightmares on Wax.
It was fine.
For me, there is not a Zeppelin album that is less than a 3. This one- this is a 4.
It was ok.
She's a legend, but I wouldn't grab this album for listening on a whim.
Love Damon Albarn. Love this album.
Not nearly an achievement like "Harvest."
Unique, I suppose, but I wasn't "wowed."
eh.
I don't want to "dislike" this album, but I just couldn't get into it.
Another "meh" album in a string of "meh" albums.
Nope.
Such an experience. Love that Cash performed for inmates so often.
One of the oddest albums out there, but such a blast.
Such a beautiful album, what a wonderful listening experience.
I know that Simone is an incredible singer, but I just wasn't a fan of this at all.
Love Fatboy Slim, but this isn't his best album.
Not my favorite-- although I love Velvet Underground-- but it's a solid album.
Gotta say, this was a surprise for me. Everyone and their dad knows "Bittersweet Symphony," but this album seemed to be conscious and deeply rooted alt album that obviously hasn't gotten the attention it deserves. Really enjoyed it.
Dare I say it... "REM IS OVERRATED."
Not The Doors' best, but a decent album.
A decent album. Enjoyed it.
A blues pioneer-- truly a fun listen.
Interesting, but I won't listen to this again.
I'll admit it- I'd never listened to this before. My god. It's rap perfection.
No, I am not a huge Dylan fan. I appreciate his work and his impact on music, but I don't actively choose to listen to him. But, this album is a great example of his versatility and style.
Fairly fun-- very much a Rolling Stones sound. Would listen again.
Got through 5 songs. I HATE System of a Down
Massive Attack is one of my favorite bands of all-time. The advent of trip-hop was amazing and this album illustrated the things to come from this english duo.
I wasn't totally impressed.
Great live album.
UNAVAILABLE. 3 EVEN RATING
It was fine.
Great album; a perfect example of Metal.
Absolutely one of my favorite albums of all-time.
Certainly fun, but not something that I would turn to in a heartbeat (which, I think is where my "5" rating is coming from)
This was a ton of fun-- reminiscent of Sgt. Pepper.
Perfectly emblematic of why the Stones have had the longevity they've had. I want to own this album.
ABBA is something else. I mean there's hit after hit on here, but I'm not pulling this off the shelf and adding it to my record collection.
Such a complete album.
Really not a fan of the Pet Shop Boys. Like at all.
You know what? I hate Tom Waits.
Decent album-- nothing to write home about, though.
While I am not the biggest fan of Elvis Costello, he does have a certain charm.
Man, this album was obnoxious.
A really beautiful album. A surprise for me, for sure.
Nope.
Nothing to write home about.
