My own pick. Way more representative of the band than The Real Thing. Patton got to put his stamp on this one, and it's a roller coaster of influences rather than a single sound.

This was somewhat interesting. Only because I'm not really sure why this would be anyone's favorite album. There are far better in the genre
I am more and more convinced everyday that the user list is simply trolling me
No joke, this could be the worst album of either list. This is terrible, terrible schlock.
I hate brit rap. Hate it.

This is some Kavinsky-type stuff. Loved it. First user-recommended is a hit.
I'm not sure how to rate this because I literally couldn't hear anything. Talk about minimalist
Tommy the Cat displays the talent that is worth paying attention to here. Everything else is redundant
I was ready to give up on this too soon. After the first few tracks it became obvious that I never knew what was going to come next. This is some incredible, engaging diversity.
I want to commend the presence of such an album, because it's almost to be expected on a user list that you would get things like this, that are randomly just people's personal favorite albums. In terms of value for everyone else though, this is as generic girl band bubble gum Pop as it gets. It was a snooze fest.
In order to provide the concept of continuity front to back, they just made every song sound identical. It's an ok song.
Solid!
Respect for adding some actual more worldy music. It was listenable.
Believe it or not, I've never listened to this one all the way through. I don't know why. It's a classic, and it should have made the list. The touchpoints here are incredible, from the now played out huge hits, to Adam's Song, which hinted at the future and bigger things. I keep seeing comments about another Blink album on the list. I never saw one?
That was a lot of falsetto. Not bad though.
The singer ruins this
I don't understand the appeal of this. It's so bland.
This was creative, but too indulgent. A much more difficult listen than I anticipated.
This is what it would sound like if Cake turned out for the worse. This dude is obnoxious, which is a shame since the clear focus is on him and his lyrics above all.
This was possibly the biggest miss on the list. The band may have inconsistencies over the years, but this was a classic when I first heard it.
The weirdest part of this album is that the music doesn't fit the tone for Poe's writings. Which would seem to defeat the whole purpose.
This album is right where I left it. Dark, twisted, loud, complex, angry, and full of talent, but also very much a product of its time. It still deserved to be on the list.
He stretches himself and mostly comes away with it, though it doesn't sustain across the album. This dude can do almost anything.
This was perfect for a snowy day. Creative, zen, harmonious, quiet. Excellent stuff.
I have nothing but a question mark about all of this. Why does it exist? Why would this be nominated to the list? HUH?
Unique, true to it's name, but got stale.
Progressive orchestral? Unique genre but ultimately a foreign language snooze fest and overly long. Not engaging at all.
Stone cold classic, and totally unexpected. This should have been on the list. It's a talented emo band who channeled an incredible moment of inspiration for an album not only head and shoulders above the rest of their output, but which legitimized the genre. They created a sound, borrowing from Queen, which transcended the scene and has not staled 20 years later.
I'm mad my review didn't save. This is a 5 star album and a new fav that I will go back to. I'll also listen to much more Bad Religion. I originally commented that my early-mid pop-punk/punk lane always went toward Offspring, and this was a miss I feel badly about.
For as much reluctant credit I gave Bruce on the main list when his songwriting was great, this is everything I dislike about him.
For me, this is Doom's peak. Effortless talent on display through light, almost throwaway topics. Killer sampling, always interesting and humorous.
This was actually pretty solid, and I found the singles to be the worst tracks.
Mon the Biff! Loving that this showed up. This isn't as proggy and weird as their early stuff, not as mainstream as their latter content...while it isn't the peak of their output it is a great glimpse. I've loved this group for a long time and even have MMORPG characters long named for them. This is a fun entry to see.
Solid stuff. Underestimated this for sure.
I can't believe that this album is better than enema.. I have never listened to the full thing and my greatest recollection of this record is my college roommate buying it the day it came out and then throwing it out his car window halfway through because he hated it so much. I don't understand that. This one seems to have aged great. They slowed it down a little bit and matured a whole lot. There's some good songcraft on here. It's indicative of future as well. In fact, I see a lot of +44.
This was somewhat interesting. Only because I'm not really sure why this would be anyone's favorite album. There are far better in the genre
Solid Sunday morning tunes. Loved "I Defy."
The most 80s mall pop to ever do it. I give credit that she wrote her songs though. A fun, short, dated bop that I'll never listen to again.
This is a singles record. The hits are hits, the rest blends together in sameness.
Smooth. Jazzy. Modern. Indie. Tremendous.
This was worth a revisit. Much different than the debut. More in line with Beck. I missed guitars, but Mr E's Beautiful Blues is a killer track.
I will give credit. My recollection is that this record was massive. It's catchy, it's sassy, it was a moment for sure. That said, it definitely isn't for me.
In the right setting, this slow, harmonious, quiet, and deliberate album is just perfect. Dark, but beautiful in its minimalism
This was kind of cool. Definitely funk with a lot of other genres mixed in. It definitely felt of its era.
This was so obnoxious. Niche college jam nonsense without vocal talent. At least throw a live DMB.
This just sounded old. Not unlistenable but not worthwhile.
What a weird one. I guess Europe had the Kaiser Chiefs too.
Some recognizable classic brass tunes, light and fun to listen to.
Raucous live punk. Not bad but have no context for it.
Well, there was one keeper here at least. Strange how some of these tracks were more "country" tinged than EDM
I don't think I understand this band.
A unique add to the list: modern Americana. Dude's voice is great.
Blips and bloops
More indie whining
Indie whining
Grandfathers of modern day post hardcore. Thank you to whomever added this. Love it.
Never gave Garbage a chance. Should have. This is pretty solid.
Dated but an interesting non-US non-English blend of styles
This was described as funk but I didn't draw the connection
Nice diversity, samples
My own pick. Way more representative of the band than The Real Thing. Patton got to put his stamp on this one, and it's a roller coaster of influences rather than a single sound.
Look, this can easily be overlooked as weird. The thing is, it's sincere as hell in it's weirdness. It's catchy, it's unique, it's lush, and it is also of it's time while also somehow lasting. It never crossed my mind that this album should be on the list, but when it popped up, I sure got excited.
If I had to have guessed I would have put this band in the mid '80s. It has the same post-bunk sensibilities as the Cure. So imagine my surprise when I learned this was only about 10 years old.
It's difficult to give credit to foreign language outcomes that you can't follow, and it's even harder when the genre is easy listening.
Catchy stuff. In small doses, a throwback to a sound I wasn't big on at the time but is engaging enough.
I couldn't. I thought we were through with the insufferable with the 1001 in the rear view and these being used picks. Who would do this? Is it a prank? 90 minutes of a cacophony. One star. Bottom of the heap. I refuse to torture myself.
I wanted to like this more. Ska/rock fusion but the songs are too long, and yes, too loud. Too much going on.
Enjoyable euro folk
An 80s throwback with some clever lyrics.
Always wanted to give this album a shot. Exactly as anticipated, which was fun for a bit, moody, proto-emo, but now dated a bit.
Instrumentals were cool, expressive, groovy, but repetitive.
Cool, loose stuff. A million influences and genres in a blender, jazzy to an extent. Enjoyed it.
Some of this was bland, but there were a couple tracks that were absolute keepers. I like the vibe.
Another that could have made the list in place of extraneous repetitive 80s British pop rock. Classic sound here, and a classic tune.
Quality.
This album is a bit all over the place, and continuity/flow seem often interrupted. A lot of good stuff still to be found, but not as cohesive as his other stuff.
Good punk rock
It's as if Tom Petty's Zombie Zoo met the Cult for an entire album.
Guitar masturbation...but in psychedelic German
Quiet, thoughtful, slow jazz. Great snoozer.
This is not the Robyn I hoped for. Dude annoys me.
Summery, light, forgettable.
This is nothing like I anticipated. Don't judge a book and all that. Expected hardcore punk, got Cake lite.
Too much auto tune, and oh my the accent. Other than that, a good time.
This started out with a roll call and some solid, unique songs, but then it devolved and went on too long.
I wasn't expecting much, but some of this hit. Especially 4th of July.
This was cool. Spoken word poetry over some steady guitar riffs in Spanish language. I dunno what they said, but I enjoyed hearing it.
This was unique. Operatic-dub-goth metal with the most random and unique screaming, and lots of quiet folk in between. Points for not sounding like anything else and still being listenable and entertaining.
A lot of foreign content on the user list. This was diverse and held my attention.
The kind of light soul/pop my daughter would enjoy
Cookie cutter 70s rock
Perfect punkish/90sish/Weezerish throwback. No notes.
It sounded like Alanis morissette wailing over a jam band. It was not good.
This exceeded any expectations I could have had. Gave it two listens. Classic album, I would argue. Had no idea how many hits were on this thing. Dude sounds like he carried Zeppelin into the 80s.
I don't like dub.
It's hilarious that I just scorched the last pick for being dub and so what do I draw next? The teen angst version of dub. This is way worse than I ever suspected, even though I never gave it the time of day when it was new. They've got 3 good songs.
Eclectic, but great background music.
Heard of this band but never heard this band. This is not what I expected. Coheedish/The Decemberists in concept and sound. Nothing stuck with me and it was overly long, but a great listen.
This album has a reputation, but I'll be honest...I've now listened about 3 times and I'm not getting it.
Incredibly genred d-list 80s era stuff. Barely worth a listen 30 years ago.
Wrong KSE album
Cool band but simply too rough around the edges for a consistent quality
Blew my mind. Thought it would be piss-poor numetal. Instead, it's thoughtful prog rock displaying incredible talent. Need to dig deeper on this band.
Hooked me immediately and unexpectedly. I'm liking these epic folk albums
Quirky, entertaining
Dudes got talent and soul for days
I hate Arctic monkeys. And they found a way to make me hate them even more. They went lounge. This was awful.
Fantastic pop
Metal noise.
A classic tune plus a bunch of soundalikes.
Ticks and leeches puts this to a 5 by itself.
Black Crowsish bluesy hard rock. Won me toward the end.
Weird to review an album on this list that is knowingly bad for several reasons. The band couldn't keep time with each other, the crowd was literally attacking them...I guess this is representative of punk, right? Solid bit of history here.
Voice was over the top but the music was fine.
Not my favorite Doom, but my first Doom. Awesome.
Somehow, this was ok. The concept, the songwriting, it was at the least engaging.
I missed this band somehow but they would have been up my alley in their day.
Calm and enjoyable at 5 in the morning
In the vein of Rush and Genesis with a vocalist who takes some time to acclimate to, but this was pretty cool.
I don't know what to say about this. I'm just going to steal another review. It's a combination of Enya and Madonna. And it didn't really vibe with me.
Energetic stuff that brought me back to Guitar Hero days.
Bruce/heartland rock filtered through modern rock sounds. I want to give this more credit and I was into a few songs for sure...but this dude's voice and vocal approach wears on you.
There was a time I was into DMB. I remember rushing out with school friends the day this album dropped. Nostalgia is strong, and beyond that, the band is talented. These leans into world music/fusion stuff. But it is just so long.
This is the superior daft punk album. Excellent stuff
They are all in on Queen and Beach Boys. That's for sure. Not a bad listen.
This was so so bad. Just unredeemable.
Another stinker. This got old, real fast.
Much better than I anticipated. Such Great Heights is a tremendous song.
Tagging this for later. It's too new to make sense on a list like this, but the sound is right up my alley and I enjoyed the rotating vocals.
I love this guy's voice, but some of the songwriting is boring
A hint of Radiohead here and there but the rest is generic mush.
I hate brit rap. Hate it.
Loved it. Very cool injection/combination of all sorts of influences.
Futures is the Jimmy Eat World classic for me, but this sets the table and carries their hits. This should have made the list. It is early 2000s emo. It's also pop, rock and accessible for a diverse audience. Holds up incredibly.
This sounded dated.
Every tune literally sounded identical
More 80s not so great stuff. Couple good tunes, not much to say.
Credit for something the formal list didn't have, just to cover bases and diversity. But it didn't appeal to me
Nah, I'll take their poppy stuff
No joke, this could be the worst album of either list. This is terrible, terrible schlock.
This album isn't quite what I assumed it to be. There's a lot of stuff in here that lines up fairly closely to what comes in the future. Although that final track is incredibly grating and could have been half the length.
Way better than my expectations, but it's one that only works with a mood. Springsteenish, and the songs all sound the same, but it's a good song.
This reminds me of local h. I have to say that I am partial to this because out of every single album on this list, this one was put out by a record label from my hometown. And that's pretty cool. Go Jade Tree.
Solid stuff although I felt like a psycho listening to this in the car on the way to work
I like the attitude but the vocals wore on me.
I listened to this twice. And it was easy to do. It flew by, it was a little jammy, but overall just good vibes.
Hot and miss RnB. Not bad.
As far as dub goes, this is about as harmless and pain-free as it gets. Full instrumental, short tracks, only half an hour long. I'll take it.
This had absolutely no redeeming qualities
Some worthwhile stuff to sift through but a bit whiney and aimless.
I was going to totally diss this as a waste of time...I can't figure out though whether they are using very well known samples or whether their music is the source for some very well known samples. Either way, it's too much.
Most of this wasn't available. The little that I did here was pretty engaging with a talented vocalist and enjoyable music.
I like this! Vocals a bit bland but pretty jangly 90s rock.
A solid switchup for some modern jazz/fusion.
I like the Postal Service better.
I can't knock this. I've got vague memories of freshman year with someone in my homeroom having a patch on their backpack. Never listened to them. Not sure why.
This is one of those artists where you wonder who in the world actually listens to him, even though everyone knows who they are. With that said, this was nothing special. And I didn't notice the theme that I assumed was going to be so prominent.
Cool vocal diversity, wide array of influences...
Noises. Why would someone add more albums like this onto the list?
My criticism here is the songs are too long. Otherwise, this was surprisingly solid.
Impressive how the string transitions fit so seamlessly in this. Long...but very solid album that pulled me in.
Twee overload
I'm not that interested in this mostly monotone talky proto punk
Good pick, not a known artist for me, surprised at how modern it is because it's a bit of a throwback
I feel like there was a perfect opportunity for this to be on the official list. My mind is blown that they somehow would have left it off. That doesn't mean that it must appealed to me. But it wasn't bad.
Proto-post hardcore, but mostly yelling
I'm not big on this band, but even I know this isn't close to their best album
Interesting premise but I feel like it only plays out if you are on some sort of mind altering substance.
This sounded just like where I left it 20 years ago. Some relistens allow for reevaluation. This didn't. It's just fine, and was just fine then, not really worth coming back to.
Stealing the thoughts of another reviewer, I'm starting to notice a theme with some user picks in this 90s sludge/noise rock vein. This isn't better or worse than any of the others.
This was a left turn. Folk sea shanties? I don't know how to score stuff like this.
This was very cool and perfect for the list. Eclectic, diverse, creative, thematic...
This worked. Ambient noise is a nice departure. Not much other description I can give.
She has her audience and I'm not it
Stupid, but catchy, produced to the point of absolute insanity. Don't know how to rank it.
This chest sounds classic. It has me thinking back to a time that I never even experienced. Taken as singles, I'm sure one could argue that they're overplayed and stale. But as an experience this is definitely propping up the genre.
Catching up. This was not what I expected even though I thought I knew of the name. Not a bad listen.
One of the most unique albums. One of the creepiest albums. An auditory analysis in memory loss and dementia. But I have no idea how to rate it. 3?
Loved this. Hit me right. Nuff said.
I feel like I would have called this boring if I didn't bother to say "don't I know these guys"? Wikipedia told me I did but they dropped the 80s synth and invented post rock. Well, ok. Good on them.
The last album pulled me in but this was too much.
Awful, awful 90s AOR/pop/country
Euro/French dance beats. Ok
Solid themed Brit rock, sounds of it's era.
Old country is still a million times better than modern pop schlock country.
Wow. This might be the best way to experience Daft Punk. Much more exciting and improvisational, dynamic, and surprising, even when I enjoy some of their stuff on record.
This is, for me, a stone cold classic. One of the 1st CDs I bought, and I still absolutely love it. One of my 2 favorite REM albums (Monster being the other one - and they couldn't be further apart in sound). They were in a groove here, and some of it may have aged a little poorly (Radio Song, Shiny Happy People) but they are catchy as anything, and they are held up by the absolutely beautiful melancholy of some of the other tracks. And that bass in Belong - yes please!
Good folky tunes. Literally never heard this name before.
I don't know who these guys are. Is this a modern group? Do they have a DMB like following for funk/jazz fusion? Why does this vocalist not fit the band? More "guests" please. Also, I'm starting to resent the submitted list as people just plugging in the longest albums possible.
Terrible noises
No thanks
Early post hardcore is very different from modern post hardcore. And this vocalist is on a completely different page then the rest of the band. It's kind of ridiculous actually.
It is disgusting that another one of these albums got added
Loved it! Perfect fit for the list. Might share this with my wife
Another unknown, solid selection.
3 days, 3 solid picks. Enjoyed this one. Some solid modern folk/Americana
The best ambient album I've come across
This is somewhere in the REM...slightly DMB vein with a harder edge and I am loving it.
For me, not a classic by AOF, but excited to see it anyway. This gave George the spotlight rather than a balance with Dallas.
This one didn't quite get there
To the person who selected this, why do you hate me?
Possibly better than the selection on the official list
A lot of short bursts of distortion
Cool addition but it amounted to 70 minutes of the same 2 minute song
Sure is a whole lot of ambient stuff on the user list. How are you supposed to distinguish this?
no thanks. terrible, terrible vocals.
too long, and not exactly what I had hoped it would be.
Bass heavy, of it's time for sure. Fast, easy listen
Solid singles but not the best of their discography. I have a feeling every album will eventually be here.
This band has always been pretty unique in their space
Somewhere between Death Cab and the Pumpkins, but I didn't care for it.
I reviewed this...that's strange. Kendrick and Jack White remain the highlights.
I dig it.
Whatever this was, basically a demo/mixtape of an artist I've never heard of, it was fun, lively, and fast.
Don't know this artist well but I'm sure this was a left turn. Some pieces worked better than others. At least it wasn't 90 minutes
Voice fits right between Petty and Costello but the song writing isn't there
A little slow for me
I can see the appeal of this but it didn't stick with me
Wild veering from one genre to the next, and from one singer to another. Interesting but long and tiring. This list is wearing on me.
This is unique and creative enough with a lot of showcase to talent that it outshines its pigeonholed genre.
So...the Cure? It's fine but boy is it familiar.
This was fine
When it comes down to it, this is what every single '70s classic rock album sounds like. This is it. In 35 minutes. And so I give this artist credit for distilling it down that quickly.
This was awful. Atonal, rambling garbage.
A very excellent, catchy pop tune surrounded by auto tuned nonsense.
The name immediately reminded me of Huey Lewis and the news. The sound isn't terribly far off from that.
Obscure, random, British, 80s. Definitely in line with the main list.
Incredibly catchy. A bit of its time, sort of like MGMT, but thoroughly enjoyable.
Eltonish.
If chill is your thing, this is the album. It's front loaded though.
Excellent, diverse, engaging, fun
Atonal tooting
I'm not the audience. The topics are waaay juvenile for me, and single minded for sure. Leads to repetition in content but the music is surprisingly diverse as are her vocals. Just a few too many ballads.
This annoyed me, partially. I caught on at the end after a couple listens, but that was enough.
The vocals threw me at first but this was pretty solid
Boring weird pop
I tried this a couple times and got nowhere with it. More misses than hits lately.
Noise that annoyed my daughter.
It's cool, daddio.
Old prog stuff. Good voice, went on too long.
I could almost tip this to 5. This was a big one for me at a memorable time as a teen. It was incredibly unique to me, and the lead trumpet instrumentation incorporated into this sort of music was so cool to me as a player. Quirky, catchy, silly, fun. Ok, sure. Make it a 5.
I do not understand the justification for putting this on the list.
Not the best of Jason that I've heard as this strays a bit toward conventional country. But there's some real keepers here and I enjoyed it a lot.
Better than I'll admit. When I was like 5, I have weird memories of kind of haunting harmonies in my sleep. I never knew where it came from. This album replicated that sound. Crazy. There's a bit of Welch post hardcore sound here, some grating, some enjoyable.
It took me 4 listens on this one. They have some good tunes though and it holds up live. But this adds nothing to the list.
Not a thing grabbed me.
This was cringe.
I couldn't reconcile this as being the "Lady in Red" guy. And then suddenly, I could. Some of this is pretty out there.
This was a left turn from 10 but also more modern to my ears. Been a while.
I had a feeling that this was going to be on the list like every other tool album. But it shouldn't have been. Because it commits the worst crime possible for a tool album. It's boring. It's overly long and it's just simply boring. Every song sounds the same.
I don't know if it's cheating, but the choice here should have been The Fame Monster. Not that this isn't a solid album, although it's front loaded. But the add-on that she completed is an all-timer for me.
Tuneful, straightforward.
Maybe blasphemy, but I didn't enjoy this much other than the last track. I have to give credit for history though.
You know, Weird Al has a place on the list. I dunno if this is the right album, but I get the sentiment.
Trashy, but fun
This spoken screams wore thin, but apart from that I kind of got into this
Never saw the movie and I don't understand this pick
This was too long but mellow and listenable
Some decent prog stuff
A little brash for being "folky".
This did nothing for me
This sounds like music Marc Maron would enjoy
What the hell man? 50 minutes of unintelligible screaming?
I'm starting to think this user list is just an opportunity for trolling and I'm beginning to really be over this shit.
Double album may have been a stretch trying these guys out, but there's good stuff here to dig into.
A second needless long album from this group
2nd best PF album...with only 3 songs
Actually, it didn't stick with me but in the moment I enjoyed it
I hear a lot of praise for their diversity. This was diverse...like Weird Al is diverse?
What a weird joke. Talent though
Ambient jazz. As sparse as it gets.
Solid Americana country. Very much enjoyed most of this
I saw this movie once. I'd made no sense. But Time Warp rules.
I'm going to try and give this credit for being a throwback to a different era in its time, but for me it just all sounded the same.
LOL
Started out promising but it only had one droning note and speed
It as terrible as the score would indicate, but dated and scatter shot 80s nonsense.
I really outgrown this style of music, but I feel like even if I hadn't this would suck
Some fun songs, maybe short of a great album
Not to my liking but ok
Snoozefest
This kind of reminded me of something good (Rise Against) but it wasn't that.
Del is cool and so is the production
Game of Thrones type music
Wow, I knew some of this! Should have been on the true list
Some of these lyrics raised a random eyebrow but this was otherwise pretty flat and boring
No, I'm not
This seems significant but doesn't hold up, unfortunately.
Fine but boring modern pop
Didn't strike me very much. At this point I have heard other similar folkish off center stuff. Maybe this came before?
Excellent MCs, production. They had me in the 1st 60 minutes. Then it got a little stale
Foreign rap/rock that went on too long
The man has hits, but he's so boring
Good Sunday background stuff
Solid stuff worth exploring more
Nearly a classic of my college years. A cool setup for a pop punk band with a violin, your standard nasally vocals, and some nostalgic lyrics. Holds up.
This was something I thought would be cool, but ended up a mess. They got lost in the changeover in sounds in the 90s, and the guest vocals weren't that great.
I am more and more convinced everyday that the user list is simply trolling me
This was tolerable for about a song. And then it became incredibly grating
Boring Spanish bass jazz
Yes, that's a country album
Like Biffyclyro if they tamed themselves down. Not terrible.
60s-ish stuff. Interesting at times.
Not their best, but a good pick.
If I can step outside my own cringe, there is obviously some talent here. But wow. This definitely isn't for everyone.
Okay. This was a very cool addition to the list.
Maybe this one's on me, because it seems to be well liked. I just thought this was weird.
One and done listen. I wanted to feel the concept, but it failed
Somehow better than their debut but also less memorable
Ambient, well-written. That last song sounded like Christopher Cross.
Kind of strange electronic, yes leaning on disco. Not quite what I was expecting, but listenable.
This guy was obnoxious
Just like 80s thrash, but with a growler
A keeper
Challenging listen, this was. Foreign language, spacey instrumentals, kind of harsh vocals
Rawkus, energetic, and dark. Pretty moody instrumentals maintained engagement.
The quality of this didn't hold through if from start to finish, but it was definitely an interesting album with some decent songs. It seemed almost like a modern take on Talking Heads but with some pretty dark and politically themed lyrics.
The single was there, and it's a keeper. But the rest of the album didn't follow through.
F this and the troll it rode in on
Not bad for a Cure album.
More lo-fi stuff. Engaging but not repeatable
This reminded me of some R&B my kids listen to. Solid voice but his affect gets stale.
I'm gonna say this was well-crafted and the guy likes pot. Yep, those are my takeaways.
Brash, punchy, and forgettable.
Instrumentals are solid if a bit slow. Vocals aren't my thing
He was trying desperately to make a comeback on his gimmick here. This shouldn't be on the list.
Production on this was hollow, they sound too jokey but flat at the same time. I didn't like this.
They named themselves appropriately.
Like NIN instrumentals, but more techno. S'ok.
Solid Europop with better singles.
This is likely worth a second spin.
I wanted to like this more than I liked it
Dark, slow jazz. Both kind of cool to hear a modern spin, yet still unbearably boring
A dated, slightly knock off, modern rock sound. Unique for this list, but not great.
This was just so, so terrible
Indie pop with a defined sound and at least a few good tunes
Spanish punk? Don't often get into such a genre. Well added.
This was slow, dark, included very little rap, and was...boring.
Wow.
Hit and miss. A bit disappointing considering how much I enjoyed pieces of it.
Overly long and garbage
Darker, droning, not very interesting
Unique and terrific sound. Cool collabs, outside my comfort zone but a solid addition to the list
A lot of hate in the comments but this was pretty cool
Now I release the Black Keys straight you stole their sound from 40 years prior
Very cool jazz rap
This is fine but I don't see a need for it on the list
Terrible and annoying
Game of thrones music. A bit dramatic overall
This was a cool collabs of worlds
This had a very cool standout and a sound that was entertaining.
Up my alley but somehow not the standout I'd expect with it being added to the list.
Euro Sinatra. Kept it lively.
Why the need for more ambience?
This was definitive for some friends of mine. It's my first time through. I feel like I missed it by not hearing it in my youth because now it doesn't seem special
Sounds like it should be about 30 years older than it is. That's niche.
When the oddball nerd group becomes the slightly creepy nerd group. Still, this is a classic.
Korn graphics, white rapper with a weird affection. Solid rhymes though
Real old school post hardcore. Respect, cool sound, but not repeatable much
This is nothing if not always interesting. I like.
I don't get it.
Another Americana, alt-country highlight
No. No. No. No. No.
Jazz instrumentals, pop vocals, cool outcome
Hipster stuff. Nah
To quote another review I offered, "no, no, no, no, no, no."
More cohesive song structure than other albums she has. Some keepers
A joke of a pick, has to be. Campy songs about monkeys for an hour? What the hell?
Ge,, a slightly more sincere Ookla the Mok
old sounding grunge, ok I suppose but not notible.
My first Petty, the best Petty, him opening the door on the 2nd half of his career. Absolute classic.
Indy songs with violins. A snoozer
Muse-ish. Not bad but the vocals wear on me
Lofi, 50s and 60s inspired, kinda cool stuff, just goes on too long
More hyper electropop. Too much stimulation
Whoever added this ...genius. a 2nd Christmas classic
Boosted by Grohl
I see this was the straw that broke the camel's back for one user...and I get it, given the poor quality and unending nature of the user list, but this wasn't the specific hill to die on. It's not too bad - kind of similar to 21 Pilots.
Here's an example of a band I want to love based on the backstory...but this is not for me.
Probably a contender for the true list. I can respect the talent but don't love the result.
They seem awesome live but this is just too long.
Did someone want to include 30 Seconds to Mars but figured they'd get hate for Leto? Cause this is bargain bin 2000's space/numetal rock.
F this dude.
LOL, what a throwback, and this was fun.
I don't know what to do with this? Musically I am sooo vibing with it, but the vocalist just sounds weak and even screechy at times.
This was pleasant and cool for the time spent. Couple keepers.
As 80s as 80s can get. Yuck.
Great. 80s U2 in 2023. Another strike out.
Modern metal, somewhat post-hardcorish leaning numetal. Vocals are loathsome.
Hide and seek was definitely an anomaly. Layers of vocals, strings, keys, and boredom.
Instrumental industrial with some beats. Annoying keys. Not a winner.
Kpop meets death metal for the 2nd time. It's...a choice.
This was kinda cool. 80s Spanish rock that had a unique feel
This may be the very 1st (ok, maybe 2nd) album that I just won't finish. It's the principal. F whoever picked this one. First of all, it's a compilation, so it shouldn't have been approved. 2nd, it's 3.5 hours of Spanish music. F aaaalllll the way off.
The front half of Me and My Woman is worth the price of admission.
An easy, kind of cool listen.
Not an easy listen, compared to yesterday. Some cool, classic prog here though. But it does sound slightly dated.
Pop and space rock with a vocalist who annoys me. I'm left indifferent.
Muse is cool for about 5 minutes. This album is longer than 5 minutes.
This feels 40 years older than it is. Some old school, psychedelic, jammy stuff.
This started really rough but won me over. It's ragged and raw but it's got an appeal
Less accessible Patton is still a Patton showcase
This is of such a specific time that it's gonna be hard to understand in another few years. In the moment, it was a classic. Outside of that, it is so bizarre, rambling, and just confusing
Ripping from Petty. By the numbers.
This must be ahead of it's time because it sounds like every indie band from 2013...mixed with some Radiohead. Not bad.
I have absolutely no understanding of why this would be needed on the list.
Some sort of beatles-esque carnival old-timey stuff. Okay then.
Americana with a lot of...sax? This one started out strange but there's some powerful stuff buried within.
This was worth the time.
Possibly the best Brand New
Generic pop/ska/punk in a 90s vein. Doesn't need to be here.
This was not what I thought it would be
Trying to learn the difference between country and bluegrass
Some sort of weird blues that didn't hold up
Ugh, this is like even more boring Death Cab
Good lord, I knew almost every lyric how? This is...somehow a classic. I blew my own mind.
This just went on too long
Not a classic but consistent
Cool, low key stuff
They keep shoving this band in my face, but no thanks.
Incredibly generic ska
Ambient music. Crazy how much this pops up. Hard to assess
Hashtag not my SIlverchair
Spanish guitar noodling. Then more Spanish guitar noodling. He's a good noodler.
I kept looking to the guest vocalists to make this space/lounge/jazz/trippy vibe catch my interest. They didn't. But I did find out Sia's been around a lot longer than a decade. Crazy.
Cool vocals, felt groovy for a bit but then got stale. Worth the listen.
Nah. Corny hair/thrash/trash metal. Soooo dated.
Cool concept, but they just stitched a bunch of songs together. Theme is timely though.
More like Gabriel or Hornsby. This was some arty old head stuff.
This started out really strong but drifted into Euro-orchestra rock territory.
The most forgettable indie movie soundtrack you've ever heard.
An odd choice from 311 for the list. Self-titled or Transistor would have been a better choice.
At this rate, I've apparently heard this band like 3+ times on the list and I don't recall a second of it.
Points for a Belgian band...1st on the list? Ok. Now I've heard a Belgian band.
Nothing else matters beyond the nerdy, nasally voice I cannot get past.
I hate that above everything else, this is boring. Too slow, too sparse, not diversified in sound.
5er - coming from an aspiring DJ, this is greatness.
Dude's got chops. This was cool.
They aren't better live. The little interest I had, drained by this somewhat exhausting listen
Honestly, better than I would have anticipated
I listened to it all and I still don't know what it is. Finger picking guitar, lots of old timey piano, sometimes some crooning and jazz?
Oh look, another one. Add it to the pile.
She has an awesome voice
First of the 60s acid protest rock I've found on the user list. Kinda cool
Garage rock in a really 60s manner
This holds up incredibly well. There is much more here than the pop punk they are known for. Metal leanings of this work amazingly and probably put this band at its peak with this album.
I but too twee
Easily 5 star. Classic from start to finish, all-time singles, still their best album.
Interesting combination of punk and slower melody.
more twee. I don't like twee.
As important as it is, some hiphop just doesn't age well. Kinda like 80s synth.
good one here.
This was so RHCP-esque. lol
Slightly dated Brit alternative but I enjoyed this one and the diversity within
Somewhat engaging dark/black metal
Wall of sound hardcore/punk. Tough sustained listen
This like, could have been great...at some point in time. College radioish Fun Lovin Criminalsish, it's pops here and there.
His voice is sooooo affected
Can someone tell me the difference between Muse, Keane, and Interpol?
More piano based jazz/interlude type music. It passes the time.
Almost definitive. I've tried and while I understand it, I don't feel it.
Make it stop.
Elevator jazz.
This sounds like another 80s band that I just can't put my finger on. This is the kind of generic British 80s stuff that cluttered up the main list. It was fine but didn't need to be here.
The bass tone is classic but everything else is pretty dated.
Liked it, would return.
Honestly, this was just pretty darn annoying.
I couldn't get through this.
Filtered vocals, old 90s sounding synth beats, this is British to the core and sounds way older than it is.
I expected the Cranberries but this was grating
I didn't like this one, compared to some of their other stuff.
Pretty fun, honestly
Yacht rock passed through a modern, Euro filter.
There's a reputation for this album in the black metal world. I'll take it on that and the diversity that this is a quality representation of the genre, but this wasn't for me
Twee Gracey Abrams
An odd choice, classical type spanish
Maybe worth a second spin? Weird Brit band straight from the 80s but something's there
I don't understand this weird band.
An "Empire Records" -type Brit band
I can't believe how good this was
Spanish 70s rock
This sounds like exactly what you think it does.
This band really only has one sound and one song. The album is enjoyable but going deeper just grates.
Vibed with about a third of this
Is she trying to sound weird on purpose? This is some modern day Paula Cole stuff
This is some good stuff! I'll say it...I enjoy it over Marley.
Some moody emo-ish stuff, some is a bit rough but there's a couple winners here.
lesser Gorillaz. Nothing here for me but the singles.
melodies are terrible
lesser Gaga
Singles soundtrack? vocals are a bit more raw and cool
I'll revisit this for some dj remix beds
I feel like my non-existent expectations were missed
Nope, Ween doesn't capture me
Ok, this is some cool genre music. GOT vibes
Nick Cave without the charisma
This got on my nerves real quick
Please make the prog stop
Lot of Gaga on this list, but really the best Gaga is light dance hits.
This might be the most annoying album I've ever heard.
space. prog. jazz? This at least provided a journey.
I have nothing against Depeche Mode but their output all seems interchangeable to me
These guys were on to something here. Slightly singles-heavy in terms of quality
A lot of dumb things here to be irritated by. Right in the vein of Spin Docs/Barenaked Ladies and it's such a dated sound.
This is challenging stuff but even still, not to my tastes.
This is a tossed together mix of unfinished ideas but it's fun and flies by.
Everlast? Is that you all warmed over, Everlast?
I'm going to go ahead and say there's too much Depeche Mode on the list. And am I the only one who prefers their latter day albums?
The creativity and technical skill on display are a perfect marriage of talent. This has always ruled.
What was that ADD autotuned hyperpop album that was already on the list? The 10000gecs? This is virtually identical. 3 minutes of this and I'm good.
The best Cranberries. Light, moody, lush Sunday tunes.
I wanted this album to be as good as everyone says it is. It wasn't bad, though.
It's jazz. Exactly what you think of when "jazz" is mentioned.
At least it's not the Miley/Flaming Lips album?
The drop off in quality here between singles and non-singles is staggering. Sorry, No Doubt. I always suspected I wasn't missing anything.
I simply couldn't tolerate this enough to sit through it. I tapped. Sorry.
Dylanesque sing talking, but the rock n' roll is strong.
Dated, foreign language, I'm not getting much from this.
A little country, a little pop/rock, a little 80s, solid listen.
Songwriting: great. Execution: leaving much to be desired. Can we get some covers similar to Royal Teeth's Heartbeats?
I did not understand this and it also didn't capture my attention. If it was purely improvised jamming, that would explain a lot.
I'm going to relisten to this because it really piqued my curiosity. Pulls heavily from glam and other classic forms of rock, pretty engaging too.
Sparse post rock instrumentals that left no impression on me.
I don't understand the appeal of electronic music like this. For background, I suppose it was just fine.
Fuzzy and punkish, altogether pretty solid.
A classic that took me back. The themes do become a bit redundant but I enjoyed digging this out.
Probably influential in the 90s but not my stuff.
I think it's what it's supposed to be, classical-type music, but the more modern minimalist genre. Bordering on repetitive, but calming and a solid example of this type of music.
For me, the best of NIN. This is more than a mood, it's a state of being.
This sounded like the band was perpetually performing the outro of a song, over and over.
Surprisingly cool pop metal with some good melody.
I unabashedly love this stuff.
This isn't my favorite Green Day album but it is their most diverse, which is something that is rare with this band. Always enjoyed it, and it has a few of my favorite songs within, including the Stray Cat Strut riff in Hitchin a Ride. The video for Redundant rules, too.
Imagine my shock when this was very brassy jazz.
Endearing, and at times classic songs, but the sound is certainly dates in a very 70s way.
Dude sounds like he's drunk on record, rambling over Springsteen instrumentals. So that's a mood.
English 90s trip hop. Is this one of the most overly represented genres on the list?
Video game soundtrack?
Source material for APC and some underlying influences. Somewhat boring though.
