Exodus
Bob Marley & The WailersQuintessential Bob Marley. What more can I say. Dope album, fantastic political message, okay voice, killer guitar, I don’t like reggae idk.

Good stuff
I love bossanova, and Girl From Ipanema is one of my all time favorites. I also really like how it’s recorded. Just a purely enjoyable record.
Thank u Robert for a fun jangly album
A little whiny sometimes but overall a solid album. I was surprised at how much it grew on me.
I’m honestly biased toward this one. One of my ex girlfriends put Casimir Pulaski Day on a mixtape for me. The album in whole is a lot more instrumental than I predicted it would be. I think the sound is lovely and the narrative is kind of lyrically gripping. Somewhere between easy listening and intensely emotional immersion for me haha.
I can understand why people like it. I do not. After a certain point, ironic depressed droning is still droning. This album almost ruined my afternoon.
Wasn’t a fan of the Jumpscare sexual assault stuff tbh
Back to back slays tbh
Cunt
I wish I could be horny the way these people were
Good instruments, I don’t think I heard a single distinguishable word sung.
Girl lol. Instruments still better than Joy Division.
60’s rock. They sounded like they had fun recording it.
It grew on me more than I thought. The lyrics were fun and surprisingly thoughtful tbh. And the bass hit especially.
I love live albums, I love the tone of his voice, just an incredible listen all around
It was fine. On the border of whiny sadboy for me
I liked the singles the best. It’s a nice time capsule of some antiwar thought from the Bush years.
Josh said it was a nothing sandwich and honestly. Yeah.
I would give it 2.5, solid Rush-like instrumentals, just didn’t vibe with the singer’s voice.
Another 2.5. Nice 60’s sound, thought it was kinda forgettable by the end. Not unpleasant but just okay.
Better than I expected! I could see this growing on me like Westin singing Alice In Chains all the time has made me like Alice In Chains. Ultimately it’s a solid rock album. Slay.
I do not have time to listen to you whine 🙁 I am glad everyone is having fun
I like industrial a fair bit. Pretty good. Would pair nicely with a Lord of the Flies reread.
Damn the guitar is good. Not what I would usually listen to. Solid album. 3.5?
I didn’t expect to know any songs but I knew three! It was too long and kinda whiny in tone! I liked the vibes but it’s not something I really wanna listen to again.
A little old fashioned anti fascist song is the only thing that saved that from a 1. I’ve never known Dave Grohl to be so wrong before.
This was pretty! And rocked too.
Incredible voice and instrumentals. Way too long. Might be better with an edible.
Cannot rate this low enough.
Somehow mixed him and Lenny Kravitz up. These songs sound like he just made em up on the spot in the studio.
I really enjoyed this. A cornerstone of rap.
Those fishy guys were having a fishy good time.
A fun Phil collins-y time ! Sledgehammer is an all timer
Based on the title I thought I would enjoy this more. I liked the drums the best. The singer’s voice and the genre maybe made the songs seem samesy.
Funky! Great instruments! Weird lyrics! This album has it all.
Okay I thought this was gonna be another blugh and while it’s not my favorite music style, I was pleasantly surprised to let it flow in the background. Good stuff. 3.5.
Made me cry, nothing like her voice in heaven or on earth
I had a recording of their acapella performances on VHS. I love them so much.
Atmospheric. Could see it influencing a lot of electronic and even house music. It grew on me, I liked it more than I thought I would!
A slay and a serve. Indescribable voice and lyricism. Truly one of the greats.
With a name like that I thought I was gonna love it. Struggled to listen through to the end tbh. Dad rock. Pretty good guitar saved it, but I won’t be revisiting this one.
A voice for the ages, and she reminds you! Completely lush arrangements carry you from song to song. Even the breakout single “Tightrope” fits beautifully alongside crooners like BaBopByeYa and Oh, Maker. Exquisite and FUN!
When Doves Cry alone gets the album a 4.
Yoink
I’m gonna be real, this fucks. Way too long. But it’s gorgeous and I like the call and response format. Reminds me of early southern gospel. The main guy is a killer singer. Probably won’t make it into my every day music but I’m glad I listened to it.
I get it. 3.5.
A lovely Christmas album. Will be adding this to my holiday rotation. I especially liked that sweet message at the end!
This is so good. I’ll be adding it to my roster ASAP. Gorgeous and funky and iconic songs to boot.
Ambient and fun. Couldn’t tell you a single song or every word that stood out.
I really liked it idk what else to say. It’s nice to put on while doing art or housework.
Solid, funny, good rap and hip hop.
Meh. It was a cool soundtrack for what it was but it’s not a standout to me.
Baby they sound GOOD! Couple of the songs run together but Proud Mary alone nets this album a four.
Broke my “don’t look up the albums” rule for this one after the first song and I’m glad I did! Original ten tracks are only 37:07. Whew. Some parts were pretty and some songs were straight up unlistenable
They were having a lot of fun! This was entirely too long!
Really liked this. I have a soft spot for live albums.
I can see why, if you like this genre, it’s good.
This is an all timer. It’s just a FUN album!!
I kind of expected more. I don’t know if it would have been as “good” if I didn’t know it was Willie Nelson.
I liked this more than I thought I would!
Solidly normal good ish stuff, I just don’t think they were trying to say anything of substance?
Almost cried a little. I’m really captured by her FEELING that she pushes into the music. I’m going to have to listen to this again and sort of let it settle into me.
Prettier than I suspected. Still a whole lot of esoteric sounding … kinda. I dunno what.
What interesting accents, it’s a shame England isn’t real.
This was okay. I think I needed some coke and three bad bitches to see the vision.
Bro this was good
I enjoyed this! Great voice, great recording, but the songs got repetitive.
Can’t imagine being more cognizant when this dropped lol 3.5
This was very pretty and informative! The long form songs made it more digestible actually.
This was fine, a lot of the songs were just a minute and a half too long. Some of the back tracks were lush though.
I enjoyed it an average amount
Strong start, repetitive by the end.
Smooth Operator alone nets this a four. No voice quite like hers. I wish more female artists sang in a lower register these days. It adds so much levity to her longer songs, drawing the listener in.
WOW I liked this so much! Added several to some playlists as it went. I love the groove and the singers’ voice. This is a pretty interesting sound for 2010 I think!
A fun ride, nice and short, some of the songs sounded similar. 3.5 in my heart
Gosh. Y’all weren’t kidding. This was just okay.
I like the songs themselves but I’m gonna be real with y’all, his voice made me burst out LAUGHING like I just couldn’t take the growling seriously!
Idk what it is but I just couldn’t get into this one. He has a fine voice and the songs were cool but I just couldn’t hold onto any of the music for whatever reason.
Ambient, too long but I like Icelandic.
As an isolated album? A bit too long. In terms of music taste? I didn’t have high expectations and I am glad I was wrong! The meandering baseline reminds me of Boone locals Funkelstilskin and the Tapp jam night sessions that would follow a random tune for seven minutes. Perfect for putting on in the background of a party or when hanging with friends. I think Darian would love this one.
This was so ahead of its time I feel like. The singer’s voice and the production could have catapulted them into uber fame in the right circumstances. It gets a three point five for my personal collection but I was into this from the first song and I think they could kill in the club scene now.
*loudly over the guitars to the guy next to me* Wow, this band is great! *inaudible* What? *inaudible* We’re only on song five?!
He sounds just like Andy Dwyer in Parks and Rec. I can’t get past that.
Liked when he said “drink like a Mick”, “I don’t fuck with fairies”, and he got that child to rap about his ten inch dick. A true time capsule.
Slow start but it grew on me. This guy should have been writing rock operas or something. I liked Angel Sigh the best.
Kind of forgettable. James Taylor esque. No songs stood out to me. Beautiful guitar though.
This was short sweet and fun! I like a little twist music.
Fun and funky. I can see how it probably influenced the house scene in the UK.
If you asked me to pick ten instruments that I thought would be on a Black Sabbath album, harmonica wouldn’t have even made the top twenty. Emo Zeppelin.
This was fine. I remember two songs. Plus Eric Foreman jumpscare.
Sort of surprised at how I didn’t love her vocal tone, the brassiness made it hard to understand at times.
I thought I was gonna like this one a lot more. Normally I’m into kid music but this was kind of frantic and a little too weird to fully enjoy. I found myself waiting for the album to just be over.
What a sound, what an album. Gotta let this one sink into my brain too.
One of my top five albums of all time. The production alone makes it a contender for one of the best albums of the 21st century. The lyrics are funny and touching in turn, Frank’s voice holds up against his lush backing tracks, and the features are all well placed.
It was better the second listen through. I like a little easy folksy album.
It was fine, not my favorite kind of noise.
One of my top ten. A song for every mood. SZA is an unparalleled RnB artist and I love pretty much any project she puts out.
Florence and the Machine in a different font. I don’t think I’d listen again though, a little breathy and whiny. I liked the mix overall but it just wasn’t my taste.
Gorgeous, impeccable, I will never listen to the full album again because it is too damn long
Grapevine nets this a five. Hallelujah.
Good stuff! I’d recommend it to anyone looking for older country sound. Repetitive but also that’s part of the charm? Idk 3.2
This was really nice! I liked the mix.
The was fine except I think they had the singers standing outside the room and they put the guitar Right On The Mic
This started strong but ended slow and repetitive imo.
I keep saying “forgettable” for a lot of these albums and I’d apologize for it but I can’t remember which ones
I wanted to like this but the lyrics kind of made it forgettable, which is a shame with some of those grungy instruments. Sounds like a Sex Bob-Omb cover band.
It’s always good.
I really liked this! I play listed several, like Today.
I liked the guitar so much but the voices were rough on some songs and tbh none of the lyrics stuck out at all. Easy listening.
This will be entering my “music to put on while I’m cooking” rotation STAT
It’s just a long time to be so screamy and angry
While it wasn’t my cup of tea, I am amazed at how ahead of it’s time this was, and how every song was bite sized and perfect. 3.5, would listen to again to parse it out.
Girl I only liked the instrumentals.
Lots of hits, I just don’t like his voice. The themes are more nuanced than I thought.
Definitely gonna put this in rotation, I liked the lyrics and I’m so surprised that it was recorded in the 70’s.
It’s the greatest album ever
I liked this a lot more than I predicted! The straight up noise was grating at times but this guy is very very talented!!
Something about that early 2000’s rap. This was pretty good but not my taste ultimately.
3.5. I love the FUN and weird era of hip hop. Some of the lyrics were a little gross.
I liked some of this sound. Pretty standard stuff.
Couple hits, nice blend. Very 80’s.
Not even the approach of White Boy Summer could make this sound good.
I love a good old anarchist anthem. Very samesy despite the instruments being really good. 2.5 just for vibes, that’s just me though
Pop Bible. Quintessential Taylor and a time capsule.
SpongeBob ass opening track. My god. Actively pissed me off to listen to this. I do NOT like his voice.
This was pretty good, I liked the recording and the length, it’s just not my kinda music I think
This album was super annoying
I honestly found myself spacing out for this one. The album lost steam as I picked up on the band’s style. I can see how influential it would have been but it’s ultimately not for me.
I liked this a lot. “A Song for Assata” is my favorite. Some of the themes were a little dated but it’s a solid album that took me through almost seamlessly.
They were having fun! I’ll have to listen again to absorb it.
I liked this better than the other SY album! That’s good I think.
I just don’t like his voice. Old Man is a favorite across covers but A Man Needs a Maid left a bad taste in my mouth that followed the whole track list.
Easy listening, which I always like. A very even keeled album. But if I didn’t know it was the Beatles, I don’t know that I would have thought anything extra special of it.
Oh you already know. Unreal album. Possibly their best, though I have a soft spot for self titled as well.
I liked this! Good driving music for a summer day. 3.5.
Wow. This was uh. Something. It’s fun if it’s a campy murdery ballad thing. But like. It’s not fun to listen to. I’ll add a few to our Halloween playlists but like. I’m not gonna listen to this album again.
Funky, good listening, I really like the tone. A tad too long in places. They don’t record stuff like this anymore!
Incredible. I may like it even more than Back to Black.
I really liked it! Kinda spaced once I got used to the flow but I enjoyed it!
Just incredibly recorded. I love the ambiance, the backstory, and the original writing. I would say it was a cult classic if it weren’t such a famous knockout of an album.
It’s so hard for me to pick a favorite Winehouse lineup but this really might be it.
All timer. I bought this one on CD as a teenager. I’m so glad this challenge is having us listen to it all the way through. There’s some incredible work here. All These Things That I’ve Done is a favorite.
I liked this just fine. Didn’t stick out to me much. Didn’t remember too many tracks at all.
This was just fine. Operatic, French, I can appreciate that the guy was technically good but every song sounded the same and it’s not a genre I like even in English.
This was fine. I prefer Cash originals. Easy listening for Sunday chores. 3.5.
I really liked this! Funky. Not perfect bc I don’t speak French nor do I respect them as a people.
I liked this more than I thought! Eked its way into a 4. The flow of the whole album was surprisingly seamless despite the knockout singles that I would have thought would be too star-studded to fit into any album lineup.
Beautiful stuff. I really loved the way it was recorded. I saved it to my Spotify because it’s also rare to find an album I can play in my preschool class.
Jesus and God. A Pop Bible in living memory. I was gonna list standouts but I realized it was the tracklist. This isn’t blind worship, this is a first time full listen to what has been a collection of iconic singles to me my whole life. Hard to escape his influence so how can I pass judgement? Can’t fuck with a guy who pulled in Van Halen real quick. Incredible record.
