It's pretty good. Probably nothing I'd come back to, but I don't think it's a bad album. I don't think it's his best work, but still. They did all begin to blend together in the end though...
Off to a bad start. This is such a boring album and I just can't enjoy it no matter how hard I try. Sex Pistols are better
Into My Arms: First track is nice. I like the piano. His voice is pretty relaxing too. A little repetitive though, gets old after a while 3/5
Lime Tree Arbour: Wow a little jazzy with those drums. It's pretty similar to the last song though. I hope it's not all this slow, I'm not too keen on this style. Still. 3/5, mainly because it has a crescendo in some places
People Ain't No Good: Okay so i didn't notice it had moved on because it sounds REALLY similar to the last song... very repetitive and slow, had to skip. 2/5
Brompton Oratory: High hopes with the drums at the start. However, another slow song, not just drums and piano now though! Takes a while to get started but its alright. Not really something I'd choose to listen to but his voice sounds really nice so I'll give it a 3/5
There is a Kingdom: Why does the piano sound like stand by me. Anyway, sounds the same as the rest of the songs. I will give it to him, his voice is relaxing. But I wish the music was more exciting aaaa. 3/5
(Are you) the One That I've Been Waiting For?: wow starts with some guitar awesome. Still, not the most exciting piece ever... 2/5
Where Do We Go Now But Nowhere: wow an explicit song omg naughty anyway gosh this is slow again I can't be bothered to listen to the rest of this album I'm sorry nick it's so boring
WOO A BAND I LIKE YAY
Sunday Bloody Sunday: 5/5 gosh I love this song
Seconds: I like the intro. The bass line is cool though. Little repetitive but I quite like it. 3/5
New Year's Day: yeah 5/5
Like A Song: Pretty good! I like the drums a lot on this album, really stand out to me on this song. 4/5
Drowning Man: 3/5 a little slower and less drums so I don't like it as much but still good!
The Refugee: Kinda funky. My least favourite so far though. 2/5
Two Hearts Beat As One: wow another song that I know and like 5/5
Red Light: Pretty good, not my favourite but wow brass instruments. I do like it so 3/5
Surrender: Alright song yeah. The guitar sounds cool. 3/5
"40": A little slower. Nice. 4/5
Overall, 4/5
Never heard of this band so this is gonna be interesting. The cover is certainly something...
A Girl Like You: ooh a little jazzy with the brass and some harmonies. pretty nice. 4/5
Find Somebody: This is very Beatles core ngl with the guitar it reminds me of ticket to ride. I don't love it just because I can't really hear the vocals so 2/5
I'm so Happy Now: ooo crescendo to start pretty nice honestly 3/5
Sueno: Wow a little spanish to start fancy. I quite like this honestly. 4/5
How Can I Be Sure?: A little slower. Nice. A little boring. 3/5
Groovin': Wow title track. Some harmonies. Nice. 3/5
If You Knew: Harmonies. A little repetitive. Don't love it so 2/5
I Don't Love You Anymore: Typical 60s stuff tbf so 2/5
You Better Run: okay going off the title this is kinda creepy sort of run for your life. Nah I don't like it 1/5
A Place In The Sun: so repetitive and kinda boring 2/5
It's Love: It's alright. I don't love it but don't hate it. Pretty average. The wailing in the back doesn't do much for me 2/5
Overall: 2/5.
Going into this having read two reviews which are very polarising. Don't know what to expect so hopefully this will be fun
Broken Witch: A little odd but honestly I quite like it. Scratches my brain nicely. It's a little too repetitive for me though so I'll give it a 3/5
Steam Rose From the Lifeless Cloak: Kinda just noise. It's nothing amazing. Just noise getting louder. 1/5
There's Always Room on the Broom: I like the witch/witchcraft imagery on this record. And we get vocals this time!! Exciting! It's scratching my brain aaaa 3/5
If Your a Lizard Then Why Do You Wear Glasses?: 1/5 just for the incorrect pronoun. Also this noise isn't even nice noise its just too loud.
We Fenced Other Gardens With the Bones of Our Own: Long title damn... I found it very boring so I skipped it
They Don't Want Your Corn, They Want Your Kids: The noises in the back remind me of video games. Weird title. My opinion on this is going down.
Honestly, I don't want to finish this album. The songs are very similar to one another and I'm not enjoying it as much as I expected to at the start, as my ratings are just going down and down. From what I've listened to, it gets a 2/5, which is generous honestly
Absolutely no idea what to expect so this will be exciting! From what I can see, most of the songs appear to be covers? Not sure how much content is theirs, but I'll see!
Variations on a Theme by Erik Satie: Starts pretty boring but gets pretty exciting. Remind me of Star Wars actually haha 3/5
Smiling Phases: I'm glad this isn't an instrumental album as I don't love them (unless it's videogame soundtracks). Honestly I quite like this, more than I expected 4/5
Sometimes In Winter: Slow. Nice. A little boring but I do like it. 3/5
More and More: OOOO jazzy I like this the vocals are cool too. 4/5
And When I Die: relaxing after the more upbeat last song. And it gets jazzier oh this is nice 5/5
God Bless the Child: Don't love this. Least favourite along with the first song so far. 4/5
Spinning Wheel: I think I know this song... but I don't know if I do. Anyway, I like it. I found the last section really boring though. 4/5
You've Made Me So Very Happy: Slow. Pretty nice. Don't love it but don't hate it. 3/5
Blues, Pt 2: Found it very boring 2/5
Variations on a Theme by Erik Satie: Same as the first song. 3/5
I really liked the drums on this album. Jazz drums are so interesting. One of the better albums I've had so far which I'm happy about.
Overall Score: 4/5
Don't know what to expect but gosh this is a long album... don't have time to listen to all of it so I'll listen to the first few songs and see how I feel about it
I like this. It's a very relaxing album. Kinda depressing though.
I'd give this a 5/5. I liked the story telling aspect of it.
Yeah it was alright. Nothing I’ll come back to but nothing awful either
It was pretty good. Nothing I’ll come back to again but enjoyed it whilst it was playing
Honestly I like this a lot I know more songs (three) than I expected to so thats good!
I liked this album. It's pretty funny. I enjoyed listening to it.
Overall: 4/5
YES YES YES YES YES YES I LOVE THIS ALBUM!!! Arctic Monkeys are one of my favourite bands, so this is a straight 5/5. I wasn't enjoying today so getting this album has made me much much happier :] what a coincidence!!
Banger after banger after banger honestly. I was really obsessed with From the Ritz to the Rubble a couple of years ago and it's still as good as I remember. Riot Van is probably my least favourite but it still gets a 3/5 so otherwise i love it so much
overall: 5/5
I don't like this genre very much but I gave it a bit of a go before running out of time. From what I heard, I'm giving it a 2/5 but need to come back to give this another since it's not exactly fair to rate it so low
Wow this is pretty good. I like this style of music honestly, really guitar heavy and great drums. Good reason to finally listen to motorhead songs that aren't just Ace of Spades. I also like being able to hear their accents haha
Ok so all the songs sound so similar but theyre pretty good. Don't love some of the lyrics but I think it's good.
Overall: 4/5
I quite liked it. I didn't find it very memorable but I did enjoy it whilst listening to it. Not like anything I'd heard before so didn't know what to expect.
I'm gonna give it a 4/5 because I liked it and probably would listen to it again
Not sure what to expect. I put this on my queue on Spotify and it was quite a jump from One Direction to... this.
It's good until theres any lyrics. And it's far far far too long.
Okay as it goes on I'm hating it less but the first song I didn't like at all.
I don't want to finish it as I'm short on time and want to listen to music I like since I gave this a good shot. From what I've heard, I think it's a 2.5.
Since I can't give half, I'm going to round down to 2/5 overall
oh this album has a few songs I know! I only know Desolation Row because of MCR though
Overall, this is a good album. I can imagine listening to it again. I found some of the songs dragged on a bit, and were a little repetitive, but otherwise I enjoyed it. His lyrics are great, I can see why he won a Nobel Prize for Literature.
4/5
wtf my poor ears. i dont know whats going on and my head hurts after three songs </3 i don't think this is my genre of music. Can't even finish it. I gave it a good shot and it wasn't improving at all.
Overall: 1/5
It was pretty good. Nothing special and not something I’ll come back to but I enjoyed it whilst it was on.
3/5
I liked this a lot. His voice is great, the music is great, the lyrics werent super outdated (unless i wasnt fully paying attention) and it was a really enjoyable album.
5/5
There is absolutely no way I'm listening to this after reading the wikipedia page what on earth
1/5
I really needed an album I knew today after getting an absolutely horrific album yesterday, and I was so hyped when I saw this album.
It is such a STUNNING album omg I've always liked REM but finally listening to one of their albums is pretty cool! I like their style a lot, and this album is really good. Plus it has loads of songs I was already aware of so thats a bonus. It even has songs I didn't realise I knew like The Sidewiner Sleeps Tonite because I didn't know the title of it even though they always play it on the radio. Truly is banger after banger.
One of the first songs I ever learnt on the drums was Everybody Hurts when I was seven so that song is pretty important to me, and its really pretty, especially with the strings.
before even finishing, i know that this is overall: 5/5 I LOVE THIS
I liked this! His voice is really good, and the music is great. The drums are especially good. I don't know if I'd give it 5 as I'm not sure if I'd listen to it much again, but I really did enjoy it whilst it was on.
Overall: 4/5
They all sound so similar to one another and I didn't enjoy it very much. I know theres some "classic" songs on here, but classic doesn't necessarily mean good... Still, there were a few songs I liked. Armageddon was relavtively good, but this definitely isn't something I'll come back to
Overall: 3/5
It's very relaxing. I do rather like it. It was a little boring towards the end but I would listen again.
Overall: 4/5
skipped the first song because my attention span is too short and long songs are generally just way too self indulgent. otherwise i quite liked this. the singer sounded like john lennon doing pink floyd on some of the songs. i dont think ill come back to this
overall: 3/5
YOOOOOOOOO I LOVE THIS ALBUM SO MUCH!!!! YOOOOOOOO BANGER AFTER BANGER AFTER BANGER EASY 5/5!!! AAAAAAAA
So many people want to rate this album low just because they think Bono has a bit of an ego, and it's so silly to do. I’m sure plenty of the people they listen to are far far far far worse than a man who is a bit full of himself, and I imagine some of them are the same who say 'separate art from the artist'. Also, the free album (that they could have just ignored) was 11 years ago. Get over it. Find a better criticism that just that if they don't like the music. And don't go into it thinking you'll hate it is something I've learnt. Some of the albums I expected to dislike were actually amazing.
Anyway, rant over. U2 are a great band. I acknowledge their newer material isn't as good as their old, but this album is genuinely enjoyable. It has so many well known songs on it, and they're all awesome. My favourite is definitely One, it's such a pretty song
I liked this, but nothing I’ll come back to. I enjoyed his voice though!
Overall: 3/5
I didn’t love it. It got a little repetitive after a while as it all began to sound similar. Some good songs but nothing I’ll come back to
Overall: 3/5
I gasped when I got this I’m so happy to have this album since I LOVE California Dreaming. It really is the highlight on this album. The other songs kinda blended together whilst I was listening. I didn’t love it, nor did I hate it. The In Crowd was pretty good too. This was my second album to feature female voices on it which is a shame how few they are.
Overall: 3/5
I liked it more than I expected but that doesn't mean it's good. I found his voice very grating on me. I liked the music without the vocals though!
Overall: 3/5, it's pretty average for me. Nothing too special, wouldn't listen again, but really don't hate it.
I quite liked it. The songs sounded the same but that wasn’t a bad thing.
Overall: 4/5
Never listened to Brazilian music so this will be exciting! I don't speak Portuguese so I had no idea what was going on but I sure enjoyed the ride. I really really liked it.
Overall: 5/5
Such a good album. Three songs that I knew, all of which are great songs. Easy 5/5
I don’t love live albums unless I know the songs the artist is playing. I knew one of these songs. However, it was atmospheric to listen to, even if I didn’t know any of the songs.
Overall: 3/5
oasis better. damons voice on this album grates on me slightly. i much prefer gorillaz and the new blur album from the last couple of years. Ballad of Darren I think it was called.
2/5
Okay so I don't love this. BUT I can appreciate the fact Beyonce does have talent, and if I ignore the lyrics (since I'm not great with songs explicitly about sex) I honestly really like it.
Side not: It's unfair, speaking as a girl who enjoys playing music herself, how underrepresented female artists are on this list, and I think Beyonce is a great artist to include.
Overall, I'm gonna give this a 3/5. I wouldn't listen again as I don't love the content, but some of these reviews are just unfair to pop music. You aren't cool or edgy for disliking pop music, by the way. You're just pretentious.
Okay so this is great! Two female lead albums in the past week, which I'm super happy about since women are so underrepresented in this list. I really enjoyed this despite having no idea what to expect. I really like the drums, they're really good.
Overall: 4/5
Didn’t love it but it was still good.
Overall: 3/5
At the start of the week I was complaining about how I hadn’t had any female-lead albums. I’ve now had four this week, which I’m very happy about.
Adele has such an incredible voice. It really suits the music that she makes. This album has some massive songs on it, and some I hadn’t heard before. I enjoyed most of them!
Overall: 4/5
Classic album and its popular for a reason. So so so good!!
Overall: 5/5
ehh it was alright but im not super into this kind of music so i didnt love it too much.
Overall: 2/5
I liked this a lot. I can see her voice is love it or hate it, but I honestly love it. I think I’d listen to the big songs again, but probably not the entire album.
Overall: 4/5
Really wasn’t as bad as i was expecting honestly. Didn’t love it but definitely liked it more than I thought I would.
Overall: 3/5
ok gmg radio h ead i really liked this 5/5
How timely. RIP Brian Wilson. Although I definitely prefer Pet Sounds, I enjoyed this a lot, especially with the harmonies.
4/5
As a drummer, the drums are interesting. That's about all I like from this album. Unable to finish it since I was really struggling to enjoy it.
1/5
Why are the songs so long huhhhhhhhhhhh. It was okay but nothing special. Won’t be coming back to this for sure.
2/5
I like his voice a lot. I don’t think I’ll listen again but it was good whilst it was on. Also the cover looks really cool.
Overall: 3/5
Gosh this is so self indulgent. The songs are so long my word. Yes I get it, he's very talented, I don't disagree. But it just seems to go on and on. Five minutes is long enough. 45 minutes long and only 6 songs is crazy.
Overall: 2/5
So hard to get through. I must be missing something because I thought this was terrible.
Only 1,600 monthly spotify listeners, and probably a lot of them are from this project. Almost listened to Icarus Falls by Zayn instead (awesome album btw)
Honestly, I like this. I hear some Stone Roses, some U2, some Rolling Stones. It's a lot better than the reviews make it out to be. I can't focus on the lyrics much as I'm revising at the same time, but I really like the sound of the songs!!
Overall: 4/5
Good but I found it quite forgettable so 3/5
Good for the hits, the other songs were very forgettable
3/5
I love the drums in this so much. I also know quite a few of the songs on it which was nice.
Overall: 4/5
Quite good but not overly memorable.
Overall: 3/5
London Calling is the best song on the album. The other songs all sound exactly the same as ‘I Fought The Law’
Overall: 3/5
I could play any instrument badly and scream over it and call it avant garde. it certainly doesnt seem like it takes much musical talent.
Overall: 1/5
Good but pretty forgettable.
3/5
I love Echo and the Bunnymen sm
Overall: 5/5
Couldn't find the album online but I found one of the songs and I thought it sounded relatively nice.
3/5
Yeah it was okay but nothing special. Had them before, don’t see why they need two albums.
Overall: 3/5
Two songs that I knew, the other songs sort of mixed together after a while.
3/5
It wasnt as bad as I expected to be honest
3/5
I don’t know why since I like Tina Turner but I really did not enjoy this album at all.
Sad to say it but 1/5
omg thats the guy who did the song with arctic monkeys.
pretty good. i liked it.
4/5
ew i dont like the rolling stones very much. the lyrics are so bad, especially as they talk about underage girls a lot, a demographic that which I am part of.
1/5
It was pretty good! I knew a few of the songs already which helped. I doubt I’d listen again, however
Overall: 3/5
OMG I KNOW THESE GUYS
4/5 simply because it has the song bad company which i love. Also its funny the song is called bad company on the album bad company which is by bad company
Yeah this was alright. Nothing I’d listen to again.
Overall: 3/5
omg the cure I loveee
All of their songs sound so similar. It's great.
4/5
Prince? Again? I only just had him!
Honestly; theres only so much Prince I can listen to at once, and over an hour is too long
3/5
YES YES YES YES YES HE SHES YES YES YES I LIKE EMINEM NOT MY FAVE ALBUM ICL I LIKE THE LATER ONES MORE BUT
4/5
Not the most enjoyable album I’ve had. Found it quite boring.
2/5
Ehh too reperitive. All the songs felt the same after a while. I do like sabotage though
3/5
I liked it but I acidentally olayed the album twice and didnt even realise I’d already listened to the songs 💀
Don’t think I’m the target audience for this
Too long. I dont want to listen to an 18 minute jam session. Keep it to yourselves.
RIP Ozzy this was a banger album
I feel like im meant to like it but I really didnt.
Not even done 100 albums and this is my third doors album. The best one of theirs that I have had. 4/5
I liked it more than I expected
I really liked this I thought it was very good
Very relaxing album I enjoyed listening to this
Wait I actually know one of the songs on this album (Big Sur) which is a surprise because I've never heard of this band...
I thought it was pretty good. 4/5
Not for me. Would give one star but Paper Planes brought it up one.
2/5
Would have been two stars but Come On Eileen brings it up to 4
I actually quite liked this! I thought it sounded very 60s but I thought it was really good honestly because it sounded kinda like the Beatles
All of the songs sounded like they were about to turn into rocking in the free world whoch isnt really a bad thing as thats a good song but. Also how on earth has this man made 40 albums Thats insane
Honestly it wasnt as bad as I expected it to be. Kinda enjoyed it honestly.
I literally had him two days ago r u kidding.
Anyway. When I was about 6 (so not that long ago really) I first heard Neil Young on the radio. I didn’t really like his music, and I turned to my mum, a big fan of his, and asked “mummy, why does he sound like Miss Piggy?” To this day, I still refer to him as Miss Piggy. 12 years later and after listening to this album and watching his Glastonbury set on the TV, I would like to retract my statement. This album was honestly incredible, I loved it. The songs were really good and I enjoy his sound. But please don’t give me all 40 of his albums. I’m not sure if I can take that much.
5/5
omg i like kate bush I hope this is good. i knew most of the songs, and i really liked the ones that I didnt know. Easy 5/5
I thought it was quite good. A little too long for the time frame I had so listened to the first few songs and thought they were quite good. Nice break from the normal ones that I hear on the radio.
4/5
Omg finally a queen album <3. I love Queen and this album is incredible.
I only know My Way because of Weird Al's Angry White Boy Polka. Honestly, I went into this expecting to hate it, and whilst I still don't overly like it, it exceeded my low expectations (partly formed from whatever that cover is). Still gets 1 star though.
Power is good. Didnt like much more than that.
Another album with a song I only know from Weird Al’s polka songs. It was okay but not amazing.
wow i know these people from my drumming grades woah
I mean it wasnt bad but i didnt think it was that good either
Listened to this whilst at a football match. We won 3-1 so maybe this album was a lucky charm or smth idk. Come on you Rsssssss
Pretty good. Sounds a lot like the Stone Roses
Not my style but I still enjoyed.
I didn't hate it but I could have definitely not heard it before I died and wouldn't have overly cared.
Its not exactly my taste but the helter skelter cover and hong kong garden are pretty good songs
Liked the sound but not the lyrics, very generic
omg finally a beatles adjacent album.
I've never listened to the album in full, but I know many of the songs from it already. I really enjoyed it honestly, it was nice to get an album I had actually heard of and had been planning to listen to at some point.
5/5
Ive never listened to her but everything ive seen before always says shes amazing so i have high expectations
nvm i dont like it at all it was so hard to listen to. Far too repetitive and she was just talking really.
I thought it was really pretty. I liked it.
YOOOOOO RADIOHEAD!!! Not my favourite of their albums but still pretty enjoyable.
I really liked it! I like the pixies and it was nice to hear other songs by them other than the most popular ones
Very relaxing to listen to but it was almost too relaxing and now means I don't remember any of the songs on the album 12 hours later.
Live albums only really work when you know the songs. I know three: desolation row (thanks mcr), mr tambourine man and like a rolling stone.
I can't say I loved this. Bob Dylan is okay when recorded, but gosh lay off of the harmonica PLEASE! It's nice sometimes but not **that** much !!
OMG GORILLAZ!! i love the members so much i used to love drawing them. cant say ive listened to much of their music beside the hits though.
I cant say I hated it but I also didnt love it.
ive heard good things about this. Didnt hate it but im not a massive fan
Wow i didnt hate it as much as i expected to
This was pretty good! I really enjoyed the sound of it.
omg i like talking heads!! this album has psycho killer on it which i really like. I didnt love the album but it was better than a lot of things ive had so 4/5
