Popular Reviews

this, more than any other album i’ve gotten so far, will absolutely be in my rotation of stuff i regularly listen to. i love it

Chris by Christine and the Queens

2.5 stars i wish i liked this more coming from a queer trans artist like Chris. i generally struggle to enjoy 80s revival music and this is really part of that category for me. i liked listening to it in french, and 5 dols is my favorite. however, the album starts to feel redundant. there’s so much stuff that could’ve been more experimental. that’s all! it’s all right

Sincere by Mj Cole

4.5 stars suuuuch good bops on this one. such a pleasant listen and im better for it!

Music From Big Pink by The Band

this album is stunning front to back, and i really think The Band deserves the level of notoriety given to The Beatles. such a defining and influential band.

The Number Of The Beast by Iron Maiden
Jan 07 2025

i get why people like this. i feel like i can do anything when i listen! wouldn’t reach for it super often, but good stuff.

Brothers In Arms by Dire Straits
Jan 08 2025

this album goes crazy. i love how the songs are either 2 and a half minutes or like 6 minutes. i would give this a 4.5 if i could. melds genres so well and has some really impressive geetar

Music in Exile by Songhoy Blues
Jan 09 2025

so incredible so smooth so varied

Jan 10 2025

i have long been a “beatles are overrated” kind of guy but i loved this listen so much. it makes me understand more of it. really good songwriting and just super fun to listen to and instrumentally stellar. nice one! ya got me

Exodus by Bob Marley & The Wailers
Jan 13 2025

impossible to be in a bad mood while listening to this!

Electric Warrior by T. Rex
Jan 14 2025

absolute no skip album. takes me through the full range of human emotion. rip marc ❤️

Jan 15 2025

dunking on thatcher is lit. i respect the dedication and don’t think i’ll listen to it a ton but ive also been soooo bob dylan pilled its tough!

Purple Rain by Prince
Jan 16 2025

it really is that good

Jan 20 2025

this is what happens when you tell men repeatedly that they’re interesting. incredibly uninspired, no song had any business being 5+ minutes

At Newport 1960 by Muddy Waters
Jan 21 2025

good ol blues music!!!! so musically impressive. go off

Led Zeppelin II by Led Zeppelin
Jan 22 2025

genuinely no skip! a classic for a reason! juicy, skillfully done bass lines in every song. really found myself relishing those. these guys just know how to write a catchy, timeless tune

I See A Darkness by Bonnie "Prince" Billy
Jan 23 2025

i love his voice so much…wow! such strong songwriting. this whole thing is a delight to listen to. i wish it was easier to find but i respect it! one of my favorite finds so far. i’m definitely going to explore his discography.

Jan 24 2025

4.5 stars if i could! feels like a sunny day it’s a triumph to be able to enjoy this again

Jan 26 2025

lucy said that a lot of this sounds like the part of a 90s family movie where the chimp/dog/animal they’ve met starts doing a bunch of crazy tricks on the ski slope/court/skate ramp/computer

The Soft Bulletin by The Flaming Lips
Jan 27 2025

so, so fun to listen to. these guys know how to do a theme. i love the instrumentals in this and noticed them more than i had in previous albums of theirs

We Are Family by Sister Sledge
Jan 28 2025

4.5 stars! JUST GOOD STUFF!

Something/Anything? by Todd Rundgren
Jan 29 2025

4.5 stars! god this guy has a good voice. smoooooth rock but can also shred and isn’t afraid to get goofy

Jan 30 2025

i’m gonna be so honest that i didn’t listen to all of it but hope to at some point. it’s just such a long album and feels not particularly inspired like so much of their other stuff does

Sincere by Mj Cole
Jan 31 2025

4.5 stars suuuuch good bops on this one. such a pleasant listen and im better for it!

Garbage by Garbage
Feb 01 2025

i really wanted to like this, and i do somewhat, but there’s so many other 90s bands i prefer: Helium, Kelly Deal 6000, Swirlies being my favorites. this just doesn’t scratch the same itch for me, but i get its merit and i love to see a cool girl singing

Feb 02 2025

this, more than any other album i’ve gotten so far, will absolutely be in my rotation of stuff i regularly listen to. i love it

Station To Station by David Bowie
Feb 03 2025

truly no skip, absolutely masterful, really fun to listen to. never gets boring

The Stranger by Billy Joel
Feb 04 2025

i have heard this so many times against my will. this is what happens, in my opinion, when an annoying theater guy becomes too famous. i just really find his style of music so grating, i don’t care for his voice, i don’t like his storytelling. it is just decisively not for me

Since I Left You by The Avalanches
Feb 05 2025

3.5 stars i like the banger tracks the best by far!

Graceland by Paul Simon
Feb 07 2025

i love this album. it has such strong songs, and it’s such a good first half. the last part gets a little like yeah we get it. but i love it!

That's The Way Of The World by Earth, Wind & Fire
Feb 08 2025

some really fun bops! honestly so soured for me by working retail at a place that played this incessantly, but i still have love and respect for it!

Moving Pictures by Rush
Feb 09 2025

dudes absolutely rock. this is awesome

The Next Day by David Bowie
Feb 10 2025

sounds like a U2 album, unfortunately. a flop from a musician i really do admire. not musically interesting and the lyrics felt so redundant and vaguely empty.

The White Album by Beatles
Feb 11 2025

this contains so many of the beatles songs i’ve clowned on before. i really did enjoy sgt pepper’s, but this one just sounds like the result of what it was: a bunch of adult men arguing. some good songs, for sure. while my guitar gently weeps is a certified timeless banger, and i understand why it wowed people. the entirety of the album is not for me and it’s too long. sorry!

Feb 12 2025

i did not need to hear this before i die! the grating vocals, backed by a 4-octaves higher shriek, followed by the same 3 guitar chords, are so boring to me. i do not understand the appeal.

Moby Grape by Moby Grape
Feb 13 2025

a really fun album! definitely psychedelic leaning. i really appreciated that each song sounded distinctly different.

Nick Of Time by Bonnie Raitt
Feb 14 2025

her voice is perfect. a beautiful late 80s time capsule

Surrealistic Pillow by Jefferson Airplane
Feb 16 2025

this is such a good album and i’m so glad i heard it before i die! so lush and varied and good

Searching For The Young Soul Rebels by Dexys Midnight Runners
Feb 17 2025

3.5 stars — this is a fun one, not one i think i’ll reach for a ton but glad to have listened to it

Live At The Regal by B.B. King
Feb 18 2025

rating this as what it is for me — i know this is historically, musically so important and it’s good! i just don’t think i’ll listen again

Blue by Joni Mitchell
Feb 19 2025

Little Green is a downright perfect song and always moves me to tears. 💚 i love the first half of this album, and the last song is so powerful. it starts to all blend together at some points, but this is definitely my favorite Joni album. 4.35 if i could 💙

KIWANUKA by Michael Kiwanuka
Feb 20 2025

incredible voice and musically interesting. the bangers were my favorites, a few too many ballads for my taste but man is he good!

Stephen Stills by Stephen Stills
Feb 21 2025

2.5 stars rounding down on my official review because i want to send a message that WHY the hell would i need to listen to this before i die? this is such a spectacularly mid album. Stills is a great guitarist, and when that gets to shine the songs are good, but the vocals, the inexplicable choir, the songwriting, it’s all just meh to me. not something i needed to listen to.

Music From Big Pink by The Band
Feb 22 2025

this album is stunning front to back, and i really think The Band deserves the level of notoriety given to The Beatles. such a defining and influential band.

Sea Change by Beck
Feb 25 2025

im sorry but i think this is a snooze fest. he’s done so much more interesting, fun stuff. a few good songs but mostly just no thanks

Chris by Christine and the Queens
Feb 26 2025

2.5 stars i wish i liked this more coming from a queer trans artist like Chris. i generally struggle to enjoy 80s revival music and this is really part of that category for me. i liked listening to it in french, and 5 dols is my favorite. however, the album starts to feel redundant. there’s so much stuff that could’ve been more experimental. that’s all! it’s all right

Songs From A Room by Leonard Cohen
Feb 27 2025

masterful, perfect, gorgeous, life affirming to listen to. i love him so much

Third/Sister Lovers by Big Star
Feb 28 2025

really solid album and enjoyable and varied to listen to. the greatest thing you’ll ever learn / is just to love and be loved in return ❤️

Os Mutantes by Os Mutantes
Mar 02 2025

this is absolutely scrumptious 60s psych rock it’s awesome

Shalimar by Rahul Dev Burman
Mar 03 2025

this is such a good film score and also just so fun to listen to in the car

Here Are the Sonics by The Sonics
Mar 05 2025

very fun! i love how wacky the mix is, how loud and fuzzy

Strange Cargo III by William Orbit
Mar 06 2025

people were hating on this, but i personally really enjoyed the departure from the entirely predictable stuff that mostly is on this list. this was an awesome album to listen to as i navigated a snowstorm, and it’s a fun prelude to some of my favorite ambient artists to follow. i’m glad i listened to it

Band On The Run by Paul McCartney and Wings
Mar 07 2025

this actually rocked so much, and i’m saying that as someone who does not really care for the beatles but i think this really has the sauce. i will absolutely listen to it again

The Score by Fugees
Mar 08 2025

the parts with her were awesome. needed more of that and less of the rest

Nixon by Lambchop
Mar 10 2025

boring british sludge like too much stuff on here

Ill Communication by Beastie Boys
Mar 11 2025

this is so awesome. every song is great, i love the hardcore sprinkles throughout, interludes, all of it

Funeral by Arcade Fire
Mar 17 2025

sooooo of its time…does not hold up as well…

Gorillaz by Gorillaz
Mar 18 2025

such a playful, strong album. so much interesting stuff happening stylistically and definitely expanded the horizons for its time. a really fun listen

Nowhere by Ride

Apr 04 2025
War by U2
Apr 06 2025

1.5 this is angry dad music

Apr 07 2025

this album has such a special place in my heart. i think the first half is strongest. some really good songwriting and so much of what it feels like to grow up in the world a girl. this album helped me learn how to be pissed off. i’m so grateful for that

Odessa by Bee Gees
Apr 14 2025

okaaaaay not what i was expecting from these kings. nice easy listening, a few bangers and some less inspiring stuff

Frank by Amy Winehouse
Apr 15 2025

not my favorite amy but impressive for being so young

Teenager Of The Year by Frank Black
Apr 16 2025

some fun stuff! i will admit that by the second half i was getting pretty tired of it. there’s some fun tongue in cheek stuff, and then there’s some things that could’ve stayed in the drafts. some good geeeetar though

1989 by Taylor Swift
Apr 18 2025
Supa Dupa Fly by Missy Elliott
Apr 21 2025

she’s a genius, always has been and always will be

Blonde On Blonde by Bob Dylan
Apr 22 2025

he really is that good of a songwriter

Calenture by The Triffids
Apr 23 2025

started off being like, why does everyone hate this? it’s fun 80s stuff, some fun synth. then it definitely is too long and starts to get so derivative. but still waaaay better than some of the british crap on this list, respectfully

Peggy Suicide by Julian Cope
Apr 24 2025

i thought this was fun and original and i love his voice. it’s inventive and impressive and it bums me out that taylor swift has a higher rating than this

The Stooges by The Stooges
May 02 2025

iggy pop is michigan excellence

xx by The xx
May 06 2025

diabolical that there’s two albums by them on this list? i said it before and i’ll say it again: retail music. i feel like im in a tjmaxx. it’s by no means the worst thing ive ever heard but i also do not care for it

Third by Soft Machine
May 08 2025
Odessey And Oracle by The Zombies
May 10 2025

4.5 stars! i’m shocked that the only song i really knew was Time of the Season, and i like every other song better. a really great album

Leftism by Leftfield
May 11 2025

awesome

Bug by Dinosaur Jr.
May 16 2025
Triangle by The Beau Brummels
May 21 2025

very derivative — mainly i’m giving it a lower rating because i absolutely didn’t need to hear it before i die and it really rips off so many other better albums. not the worst on this list by a long shot, but very uninspired

Tracy Chapman by Tracy Chapman
May 23 2025

lesbian excellence. such strong songwriting and a voice unlike any other

Aftermath by The Rolling Stones
May 24 2025

they really are that good

Harvest by Neil Young
May 25 2025

insane that he was only 24 when he released this album

Surf's Up by The Beach Boys
May 26 2025

such a good, strong album. it’s really special for a band to be able to make a pivot like this and have it work so well

Rumours by Fleetwood Mac
May 27 2025
Smash by The Offspring
May 28 2025
For Your Pleasure by Roxy Music
May 30 2025

i love his weird freakin voice and i think this is worthy of this list for how genuinely unique it is

Tidal by Fiona Apple
May 31 2025
Jun 01 2025

i love when this endeavor makes me listen to bands i’ve only heard one hit song from. i like every song on this so much better than what i had heard. Glittering Prize! so good! so 80s so awesome i loved it

Beggars Banquet by The Rolling Stones
Jun 02 2025

i had only ever heard sympathy for the devil, and the rest of this album is my favorite of the stones i’ve heard so far. i love it!!!!

Heroes by David Bowie
Jun 03 2025

i liked the ambient part best i’ll say it. thank you brian eno

Young Americans by David Bowie
Jun 04 2025

the amount of his albums on this list makes me dislike them more unfortunately

Heaven Or Las Vegas by Cocteau Twins
Jun 08 2025

an absolute pleasure to get this album on a beautiful june day! dreamy summer light linen shirt of an album

Odelay by Beck
Jun 10 2025

Third by Portishead
Jun 16 2025
OK by Talvin Singh
Jun 18 2025
Fisherman's Blues by The Waterboys
Jun 20 2025

the first few tracks are really strong, but this album long overstays its welcome and becomes derivative

Head Hunters by Herbie Hancock
Jun 21 2025

this is so fantastic and good and makes me feel awesome

I Should Coco by Supergrass
Jun 24 2025

i’m rounding up on my review for this because it’s so surprisingly refreshingly better than a lot of the other britpop on here. fun album

Zombie by Fela Kuti
Jun 26 2025

this is the kind of album that should be on here

Imagine by John Lennon
Jun 27 2025

Blur by Blur
Jun 28 2025

4.5 stars, rounding up because i love blur and this album is so good

Tom Tom Club by Tom Tom Club
Jul 02 2025

this album is so fun, so original, so much more interesting to listen to than so much of the slop on this list. i loved it even more than i thought i would!

1999 by Prince
Jul 03 2025
Tuesday Night Music Club by Sheryl Crow
Jul 06 2025

kind of mystified that this sheryl album is on this list. not my favorite of hers musically, lyrically, or thematically but i will always have a soft spot for her voice. toooooo many ballads, though

Eagles by Eagles
Jul 07 2025

honestly this is a no skip album for me and i love it so much. awesome music to listen to on a july day with the windows down

Songs For Swingin' Lovers! by Frank Sinatra
Jul 08 2025

this is pleasant enough to listen to. there’s other jazz i like more, and every song sounds the same, but it’s very easy listening and i can see why it appeals to the masses.

Highly Evolved by The Vines
Jul 09 2025

did not need to hear this before i die and don’t you dare compare it to nirvana…yawn

Tommy by The Who
Jul 11 2025

my goodwill for this reeeeally was stretched thin by the last track

Bayou Country by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Jul 12 2025

the only thing my extended family is right about is this album rocking

Jul 13 2025

i’d never heard an Ice T album before and i was so pleasantly surprised. fiercely political, experimental, lots of fun.

Coles Corner by Richard Hawley
Jul 14 2025

immensely boring. this is fine enough to hear in the grocery store or something, but i’m truly tired of seeing stuff like this on this list that’s supposed to have some magnitude

Djam Leelii by Baaba Maal
Jul 16 2025

this is the kind of stuff my friend’s scary mom would have playing on NPR while she made buckwheat pancakes. very talented musician, not up my alley

Inspiration Information by Shuggie Otis
Jul 17 2025

this is this list at its best, when the music is so worthwhile and original. i thoroughly enjoyed it

Justified by Justin Timberlake
Jul 18 2025

i’ve just had enough of him

The Man Machine by Kraftwerk
Jul 19 2025

so awesome, so interesting, so fun

Paranoid by Black Sabbath
Jul 24 2025

getting this album on the day Ozzy left this mortal realm was really something. it felt like communion. this album is really, truly perfect. timeless. i’m 29 and i love this like i was alive for it

Your Arsenal by Morrissey
Jul 25 2025

so boring and musically uninspired. morrissey has a great voice, aside from being the most fuckin annoying guy ever. but like many have pointed out in their reviews, his solo stuff makes it painfully obvious that the heart of the smiths and the talent of the smiths largely belonged to his less annoying, more humble band mates.

Lady Soul by Aretha Franklin
Jul 26 2025

she absolutely bodied this!!!!!

Isn't Anything by My Bloody Valentine
Jul 27 2025

it’s super nice to see them developing their sound here

L.A. Woman by The Doors
Jul 29 2025

so much more lethargic and downtrodden than a lot of the earlier stuff i love. still an inherent magic to what these guys get up to, but more of a slog.

Happy Sad by Tim Buckley
Jul 30 2025

unfortunately boring! i like some of his other stuff and the xylophone was cool but only for so long

Ragged Glory by Neil Young & Crazy Horse
Aug 01 2025

is this sort of a bunch of songs that sound the same? absolutely. but i gobble it up because i love that sound

Dire Straits by Dire Straits
Aug 02 2025

smooth, awesome, fun to listen to

Rhythm Nation 1814 by Janet Jackson
Aug 03 2025

justice for janet…she has always deserved so much more recognition and this is such a fun album

The Rising by Bruce Springsteen
Aug 04 2025

i love Bruce Springsteen, and no one was immune to the banal, trying so hard to be deep soft rock of the immediacy of 9/11. it genuinely feels like Bruce picks a few words: blood, lips, seed, sky, and then just tries to weave them into every song even if it’s super contrived. lyrically tired, musically uninspired, and i have to agree with another review that said why not pick an artist at their prime in 2002? there certainly were some. i love The Boss SO much, and this is not his finest by a long shot.

Halcyon Digest by Deerhunter
Aug 07 2025

solid indie album that’s aged better than many others. didn’t grab me super tight, but it’s a pleasant listen

Led Zeppelin III by Led Zeppelin
Aug 08 2025

really cool departures from their sound in this while still being so distinctly them. Tangerine is one of my favorites

Blood Sugar Sex Magik by Red Hot Chili Peppers
Aug 09 2025

i love these guys, i cannot explain why, but i do, and even then there’s still a limit where i think they could reel it in perhaps. the good songs on this album go so hard, and there’s also a lot that are a little toooooo quirked up

Make Yourself by Incubus
Aug 11 2025

music that a really cool older cousin would have playing in their sedan in the 2000s

The Köln Concert by Keith Jarrett
Aug 12 2025

he’s very good at piano i just do not like this kind of thing

Damaged by Black Flag
Aug 17 2025
Marquee Moon by Television
Aug 19 2025

this album knocked my socks off! i love it!

The Nightfly by Donald Fagen
Aug 20 2025

love his vibe but this did not need to be on this list

Dust by Screaming Trees
Aug 22 2025

totally fine, but perplexing to be on this list

Sticky Fingers by The Rolling Stones
Aug 23 2025

a masterpiece. moonlight mile, wild horses, can’t you hear me knocking…amazing

Stripped by Christina Aguilera
Aug 25 2025
Aug 28 2025

respectfully, he doesn’t have the sauce of a solo artist. the guest spots on this make it shine at moments, but it’s weirdly lethargic

Boston by Boston
Aug 29 2025
Play by Moby
Aug 30 2025
Music by Madonna
Aug 31 2025

this woman knows how to make an album

Revolver by Beatles
Sep 24 2025

The Stone Roses by The Stone Roses
Oct 06 2025

this is the best album i’ve heard on here yet. sooooo up my alley, so well balanced, does so much and does all of it right

Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfield
Oct 10 2025

i love the exorcist song of course…then when the oboe really starts making an appearance in the latter songs it’s quite different for me

En-Tact by The Shamen
Oct 12 2025

ridiculous lyrics but very fun beats and sounds and a lot more fun than some of the shite on here

Live / Dead by Grateful Dead
Oct 20 2025

unfortunately this is them at their most stereotypically annoying and it’s not their best live album

Stand! by Sly & The Family Stone
Oct 21 2025
Maxinquaye by Tricky
Oct 26 2025

i like the beats a lot but unfortunately i hated the vocalists’ voice and it made it rather hard to really get into…

it’s largely fun to listen to, he had some bangers, but the more music i listen to i’m more irritated by how much he just rips other stuff off in a way that feels lazy instead of referential

i was so pleasantly surprised by this. i was expecting to dislike it because i remember being irked by her voice as a kid. as i’ve gotten older, though, i love someone who can push their voice to the limits: neil young, bjork, definitely joanna. the harp in this is stunning and all the arrangements are beautiful. found me at the right time! 4.5 but i’m rounding up
