Bat Out Of Hell
Meat LoafGreat album. The lyrics are cheesy but, Meatloaf’s voice delivers them with power and epic intensity.

Interesting concept for an album. I got tired of her voice after a while, though. Still, it was a cool experience but, I don’t think I’ll be listening to this again.
Love the wordplay in this album. Hip hop and rap are really not what I listen to normally but it was cool to spend some time in the thought process of a self proclaimed genius. I do not think I will listen to this album again but it was a nice diversion to what I normally listen to.
I already had “Living For The City”, “Higher Ground” and “Don’t You Worry About A Thing” on my phone. Never thought about selecting all the songs until hearing the album in its entirety. Besides the singles, I really enjoyed Stevie’s song about Richard Nixon, “He’s Misstra Know It All”. That song could about our new Commander-In-Chief. Not a bad album from start to finish.
It was okay. His voice was so easy going that it didn’t sound like that he had any personality. The songs needed more life and more improvisation. If I had to pick an artist from New Orleans that I would rather listen to, it would be Louis Prima.
HELL YES! Great album start to finish. My only complaint is that the album was too short. This album is proof that a band can make a that is not overproduced and that it still kicks ass!!
Great album! Lou Reed’s lyrics about drug addiction and BDSM were pure poetry.
It was okay. Rap is not really my thing. The last couple of minutes tied the whole album together though.
This album takes me back to high school. Like my high school experience, this album was not good but, it was not bad either. “Black”, “Jeremy” and “Even Flow” are great songs. The rest of the album was mediocre.
I can only listen to Fatboy Slim in small doses. Listening to the whole album in one sitting gets really overwhelming. Great music but, I need to listen to other tracks between these songs.
Never heard of this band until now. It seems to me that they were trying different styles of music on this album. I appreciate their creativity. The album is now on my playlist. I’ll be sure to keep the songs from this album in my rotation for a while.
Awesome album!! Pure, straight forward rock and roll. They just need to learn how to spell.
A really funky album. Nile Rodgers’ bass guitar was excellent and the harmonies from the ladies were really good.
Elliott Smith’s voice sent shivers down my spine in a bad way. This album is way too whiny. This was definitely a cry for help considering what happened to him.
One of the greatest debut albums of all time! This is the best example of “Pub Rock”. I imagine patrons sitting around the bar and having a few beers while Elvis Costello is playing his original songs and being blown away.
It was okay. The second six songs were better than the first six songs.
This album is already in my rotation. Great harmonies, horns, and piano.
The individual songs on their own were excellent. As a concept album that tells a story, it fell apart for me. I wish Apple Music or any music streaming service would have a text file with the original album liner notes to accompany albums like these.
It was okay. I liked “Lust For Life”, “The Passenger”, and “Success”. The rest of the album was just mediocre.
I don’t listen to a lot of electronic music but, this album was not bad. I liked how it started out really heavy and then mellowed out at the end. It’s one of those albums that needs to be listened to from start to finish.
I could not find a lot of information about this album online. This album is not really my thing. Maybe, if I had more context to what he was singing about, it would have been better. The blending of Western instruments and the traditional instruments was interesting.
His voice was way too ethereal. At times, I couldn’t hear him over the bass. I thought I had my sound levels calibrated incorrectly. I was bored listening to this.
One of the worst concept albums I’ve ever heard in my life. I was bored listening to this. The singer’s voice had no personality. If the Earth was being engulfed by a black hole and the Government was trying to cover it up, I would think a person would be more emotional and not sound disinterested.
Way too over produced. She does have a great voice but, the lyrics she sings were crappy. I do not feel that she learned anything about herself by the end of this album. She kept making the same mistakes over and over again and then whining about it for forty-five minutes.
Great album. The lyrics are cheesy but, Meatloaf’s voice delivers them with power and epic intensity.
Interesting album. I like how the music acts like a carrier wave for the sometimes subversive and softly sung lyrics. It’s almost like the concepts that the lyrics are conveying are trying to implant in my brain. I’ll be listening to this again.
If neurotypical people ask me what Autism feels like, I would tell them to listen to Talking Heads. As a person on The Spectrum, David Bryne’s lyrics about trying to find his place in society sometimes hits a little too close to home. Great album from start to finish.
Usually, I try to write a more in depth review when I listen to albums. But, this album sucked. It was torture to listen to. At least, I know the title of the song that was playing during Halloween when I was working at Savers.
This album was funky. It made me want to go to my local Brazilian food store for some Passatempo cookies and a cup of coffee from the nearby Dunkin’s.
The first couple of tracks were boring. Then, it started to pick up a bit. It just wasn’t for me but, it was okay. Maybe, I will come back and visit some these songs again sometime.
The album was way too chaotic. It was really hard to gather any meaning from the songs. The music was really good, though. Maybe, if I saw this performed live, I would have a better appreciation for this material.
Great album! I loved his work with Can. So, I was really awesome to hear some of his solo work. “Cool In The Pool” had a cool, mad scientist on vacation vibe. “Persian Love” was also interesting. I listened to this album on the way to work. I think next time I listen to this, I need to be sitting in my chair with the volume turned up just to catch everything this album has to offer
The background vocals were okay but they could be annoying at times. Also, the guitarist was not that great. That being said, Solomon Burke definitely applied his training from the church in his vocals to cut through the subpar background vocals and instrumentals.
Love this album. Blue eyed soul at its finest.
This is got to be The Kinks’ most boring album. Village Green Preservation Society is such a better album. The mix of British Musichall and Rock did not work for me.
Besides “Mr. Wendal”, “People Everyday “, and “Tennessee”, the rest of the album was boring and monotonous. I appreciate that they tried to inject a positive message into rap, but I just found to be really bland.
Much better production on this album than on the last Adele album. Still not big fan of her songs though. I heard actual instruments this time so, that was a big plus. If her albums are improving with release, maybe some of her songs will be on my playlist the next time I get an Adele album randomly assigned to me.
Excellent album! Prince had the swagger and the talent to back it up.
Excellent debut album! Violent Femmes encapsulated anxiety and awkwardness and turn it into an album that a lot of people can relate to.
This album is the sonic equivalent of the quiet girl in High School that has no friends. So, you go talk to her and try to befriend her. Then, you find out why she has no friends.
I am not a really big rap fan. I did like learning about cocaine, though.
Love this album! I liked the way all the instruments blended together within the sections of the pieces. I will definitely be listening to more of his work.
Not a bad album. Some of the jams tend to drag a little too long though. For example, if they would have cut out the slow section of “Whipping Post”, it would have been awesome instead of just good. My favorite track is “In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed”. That jam was tight and sent shivers down my spine.
“Lazurus” was the only interesting track on this album. It was interesting to peer into the thoughts of a dying man. The rest of the album was just really dull.
That album was really boring.
This album was way too overproduced. These songs were better performed live or acoustically. “Hazy Shade Of Winter” was really good, though.
This album was not bad.
This album was way better than “Bookends”. I felt the tension between the duo as they were both trying to get this album finished before they would break up for awhile.
Rap music is not really something that I listen to. It was interesting to hear about a man who was uncomfortable and struggling with fame. Just not really my type of music.
Great concept album. Some of the songs go on too long like “Australia” and “Shangri-La”. It’s just too bad the television program that was to accompany this album never came to fruition. It would been cool to see the whole story of Arthur.
It was okay. I think need to give the tracks another listen before I decide to remove them from my playlist.
Not bad! Anyone that can write a song about traveling on The Massachusetts Turnpike or a song walking down a street near a mental institution in a Boston suburb and make both scenarios sound epic is the mark of a great song writer.
Oh Hell Yeah!! Great album with raw power to make you feel like you can take over the world.
I tried really hard to like this. This was my second time listening to the album from start to finish. I think the thing about Bowie is that if you don’t like one album, his next album could be better. Hopefully, that’s the case.
Good album. The trick with any good Progressive Rock composition is to make the listener wanting more despite the fact that song takes up a third of the album. Close To The Edge definitely left me wanting more.
The first three songs were boring. Then, it started to get more interesting. I’ll give it another try later on.
That was really boring. Usually, I need to be drunk before I hear people talking about their breakups. This album is just way too self loathing.
The music was okay. It’s just that Thom Yorke’s vocals are not powerful enough for the music being played.
Nas’ flow was not bad. He needed more variety with his subject matter. Hearing him rap about weed and about how his neighborhood is bad got old after a while.
The problem I have with Shoegaze is that when picks up in intensity and I think that the song is going to get better, it just winds up going nowhere. That’s the problem I have listening to this and it made me angry. All that potential build up with no release.
This is a very pretentious album. After the awesome title track, everything else was overproduced, neohippie bullshit.
Great album. Just good old fashioned British Mod music with just enough swagger from Paul Weller to make it sound awesome!
