Live And Dangerous by Thin Lizzy

So I have probably heard about 5/6 of these tracks before (mostly the heavier ones) and that familiarity certainly made this album fun to listen to, while the softer tracks were a nice break. Everyone, however, is saying the same thing about the album: That it is full of overdubs. I don't think it really matters, as it is a great album regardless. Deserves four stars, but I would be curious to see the difference between the studio vs live versions (and the drum solo near the end was a bit unnecessary).

Ace of Spades by Motörhead
May 15 2025

I forgot how much I liked metal. Liked the riffs outside of the title track a lot more than I expected (And I had listened to this album in full before)

Smile by Brian Wilson
May 16 2025
My Generation by The Who
Nov 28 2025

This is certainly a good album, but it suffers from a lot of the same problems that most pre-Rubber Soul albums have, in that it has a few very good songs and a lot of (decent) filler. I found that my generation, I can't explain (bonus), the kids are alright, and the Ox were the most memorable tracks here. A good album, but too much filler to be 5 stars. The who would certainly get better on their later albums. Surprisingly, this was heavier then I remember. Certain parts of this album could be considered hard rock.

Country Life by Roxy Music
Nov 30 2025

Quite liked this record. Have listened to Roxy before (a couple Avalon songs and most of for your pleasure) and enjoyed it, but a lot less stuck with me. The thrill of it all was amazing, and while I love Eno (not here) and this record is more pop, it’s quite good. Definitely deserves at least 4 stars and more listens, and makes me want to check out more of their discography

Live And Dangerous by Thin Lizzy
Dec 01 2025

Dry by PJ Harvey
Dec 14 2025

Really enjoyed the first three songs. Apparently listening to this album at an airport is significantly more difficult than at home; the dynamic changes were much more bearable in a quiet environment. The songs were also quite engaging and had interesting structures, as well as hooks. Also enjoyed PJ Harvey's voice. Looking forward to when she comes up later in the generator 4/5

The Libertines by The Libertines
Dec 15 2025

This was fine...felt relatively inoffensive Honestly, in one ear, out the other. Not bad but not something I'd listen to again.

White Light by Gene Clark
Dec 16 2025

I will always have a hard time truly hating songs because they're not in a genre I listen to. The first song on this was not bad, and the songs that were closer to country rock (had electric guitar in them) were decent. I found most of the acoustic songs forgettable. My guess is I would prefer his album "No Other" to this one (and I prefer the Byrds albums as well). Did not hate it by any means, but the lack of things to come back to gives this 2 stars.

Boston by Boston
Dec 17 2025

First album from the list I have listened to front to back before (a few times) but not for several months. Regardless of what Boston did after this album (not much), it still holds up today as the first (and arguably best by a lot) arena rock album. I actually enjoyed the b-side of this album a lot more than I thought I would, as the production on this is clear while still being on the heavy side. Probably give this a 4.5, but since any of the songs can also be listened to alone (or with the album), this deserves 5 stars with the generator

Figure 8 by Elliott Smith
Dec 18 2025

I think the pieces are very pretty here, and some of the songs I definitely enjoyed, but this is just not really my thing. Son of Sam was a highlight, though, and the acoustic pieces fit well in the right mood. I would give this a 3.5, but I would be surprised if I return to this, so ill give it 3 stars.

Bayou Country by Creedence Clearwater Revival
Dec 19 2025

This is certainly not a bad album. I really enjoyed Born in the Bayou, Proud Mary was good, and the closer was quite interesting. However, I feel like some of the tracks in the middle were a bit lengthy, and there was not as much to latch on to as I would have liked. This would be a great candidate for 3.5 stars.... I rounded down on my last album so I'll give this a 4.

Urban Hymns by The Verve
Dec 20 2025

As someone who tends to like Britpop, this album was decent. However, outside of the obvious Bitter Sweet Symphony, this album seems to lack memorable hooks. In terms of both length and pacing, I would compare this to Suede's Dog Man Star, but that album both was not quite as lethargic, and the ballads actually had better hooks and guitar lines to latch on to. This album is just too long, and although I liked the guitar, I did not find the vocals particularly memorable. This could get 4 stars if it was significantly shorter, but I feel like this has to get 3 stars.

Franz Ferdinand by Franz Ferdinand
Dec 21 2025

This was quite good, especially compared to a band like the libertines. The first half was exceptionally good, especially the first track and the obvious, take me out. However, the album began to run a bit thin in the middle before picking up a bit on the last 2 tracks. 4/5

Mama's Gun by Erykah Badu
Dec 22 2025

This was a good album. I really enjoyed the first track here, and this psychedelic style sounds great for a chill mood. I think I need to give this more listens to make sense of it (not related to the generator, but I had to do the same thing with D'Angelo's Black Messiah). I think this album nails the vibe it was going for, though. 4/5

Back In Black by AC/DC
Dec 23 2025

Obviously this is considered a classic. But I truthfully found most of the songs to sound essentially the same and forgettable outside of the hits. I also just don't really prefer Brian Johnson's voice. I like the double-tracked riffs, but there are many bands that do this better imo. 3/5

Dec 26 2025

This is Christmas music. I thought the production was quite good, and felt varied and interesting. Although I doubt I would go back to this, it is definitely a good album. 4/5

Pink Moon by Nick Drake
Dec 27 2025

This is not what I would normally check out, but that’s the purpose of the generator, right. This album had a somber beauty to it (probably because of Nick Drakes mental state) and would be a good vibe for a melancholy today. The melodies and guitar melodies/tunings were quite interesting. 4/5

New Forms by Roni Size
Dec 28 2025

This just isn't for me. The beats were ok in places, but felt repetitive with no variation at all. I also could not stand the vocals for the life of me. This felt like some weird combo of an electronic rap beat with some of the worst rapping I have ever heard. I get that this was an important album in the drum and bass genre, but it is not something I will come back to, 78 minutes is far too long even for a good album, and I was waiting for it to end. Sorry, but 1/5.

American Beauty by Grateful Dead
Dec 29 2025

Not bad by any means. The vocal harmonies were quite interesting, and I liked some of the guitar work. However, I found this boring, especially by the end. I appreciate it for being an objectively good album, but for me it was just fine. 3/5.

Mothership Connection by Parliament
Dec 30 2025

I was already familiar with the album, and most songs but thoroughly enjoyed the funk here. Could dance to this all day.

In Our Heads by Hot Chip
Dec 31 2025

eh... I feel like this sounded very generic with not a lot of real hooks or substance. I forgot I was even listening to this in the middle. 2/5

John Prine by John Prine
Jan 01 2026

I was impressed by this. Not generally a fan of any of the genres here, but this was what singer-songwriter should be: Meaningful lyrics and instrumentation that is interesting but not the focal point. It works here, and was engaging enough throughout. I was not expecting to like this, but it surprised me, and ends up getting 4 stars.

Home Is Where The Music Is by Hugh Masekela
Jan 02 2026

Seemed like a good jazz album. Honestly, this is supposed to be a fusion album but I can’t really tell the difference here. I liked the two horns and the mix, but this album was a bit too long and monotonous for me. 3/5

Time Out by The Dave Brubeck Quartet
Jan 03 2026
Jan 04 2026

Not my thing. Not terrible but was repetitive and boring. Enjoyed the one track with more alternative dance influences.

A Northern Soul by The Verve
Jan 05 2026

Not bad. Liked some of the more shoegazey material and should probably go back to that. Found some of the ballads a bit boring... 3/5?

The Gershwin Songbook by Ella Fitzgerald
Jan 06 2026

Not bad by any means. I was able to make it thru the entirely of this album. It is good background music and great vocals, but is simply too long (obviously) but this is not supposed to be listened to in one sitting anyway 3/5

Ellington at Newport by Duke Ellington
Jan 07 2026

Not bad. Although I really enjoyed the more energetic songs, some of it I found fairly boring. High 3/5

The Healer by John Lee Hooker
Jan 08 2026

Liked the Boogie Blues However, I'm guessing a different Hooker album then a late-career 80s one would have been a better choice for the book Nonetheless, I enjoyed this. 4/5

Hypocrisy Is The Greatest Luxury by The Disposable Heroes Of Hiphoprisy
Jan 09 2026

Listenable. Rap isn't my thing in general, but going into this with an open mind the lyrics were...interesting The beats were a bit odd, but I found almost nothing here I would come back to, and I was just waiting for this to end 2/5

KIWANUKA by Michael Kiwanuka
Jan 13 2026
Queen II by Queen
Jan 20 2026

I like this one. However, there are 4-5 tracks that are clearly a step weaker then the rest. I think queen mitigates this on other albums 4.4 /5

Jan 28 2026

Well, I already like this album. However, I do think "And you and I" drags on too long. Close to the Edge and Siberian Khatru are both excellent (I honestly like the latter more, especially the funk guitar and bass). Probably 4.5/5 - I'm giving this a 4 since I don't know how much I would choose to listen to this straight through.

Berlin by Lou Reed
Jan 30 2026

I think I am going to hold off on rating this one for now. It's not bad, and deserves at least 3 stars, but I do not know how much of this stuck with me outside of the last song. It at least deserves another lesson to figure itself out

This Year's Model by Elvis Costello & The Attractions
Jan 31 2026

Enjoyed this. Good, varied instrumentation with interesting hooks. 4/5

Konnichiwa by Skepta
Feb 02 2026

I mean... I guess I'm happy I heard this before I died. There were some nice beats in here. A bit better than I was anticipating. 3/5

Here's Little Richard by Little Richard
Feb 03 2026

I think that this is standard fare for a 1950s album. Obviously, Tutti Frutti and Long Tall Sally were highlights, but the rest was unfortunately filler that resembled most album at the time. I would give this a 3.5, but we will round this to 3.

Feb 04 2026

This was...interesting. For now I have to give this 3 stars (and far too many drug references) but it wasn't bad. I found that this kind of just faded into the background rather than jump out at me in any way, but was not atmospheric enough in any way to go on a chill playlist. 3/5

Tuesday Night Music Club by Sheryl Crow
Feb 09 2026

Eh I kind of didn't prefer these vocals, and the lyrics were not interesting enough to make up for the relatively bland instrumentals. Yes, this is a well-produced album, but it ain't my thing. 2/5

Crosby, Stills & Nash by Crosby, Stills & Nash
Feb 14 2026

Beautiful harmonies. I enjoyed this one more than I thought I would. Liked the guitars as well.

Ctrl by SZA
Feb 15 2026

not my thing...didnt prefer the vocals at all and instrumentals werent that good 1/5

Moving Pictures by Rush
Feb 17 2026

First 5 songs are amazing, last 2 are good. I would say there is not a weak link here and since I have never been put off by Geddy Lee's voice and enjoy prog and hard rock, this is an easy 5/5

The Predator by Ice Cube
Mar 13 2026

2/5.. liked a good day but nothing else stood out and felt too long

So by Peter Gabriel
Apr 15 2026
Zombie by Fela Kuti
Apr 18 2026
Tidal by Fiona Apple
Apr 21 2026
Metal Box by Public Image Ltd.
Apr 22 2026

This one was....interesting. I knew that PiL was way out there (as well as seen the album score) but didn't expect all the guitar noise or just this style in general. Honestly still not kinda sure what to think of it. Ain't bad but I don't know what I would come back here other than the groove in Swan Lake. 3/5?

Smash by The Offspring
Apr 25 2026
Germfree Adolescents by X-Ray Spex
Apr 26 2026

Was not too bad. Female-fronted punk is always cool. Also, there were a few metal riffs on this record, which was interesting. Deserves a 3.5. Since I gave my last album a 4 this is going down to 3.

The Pleasure Principle by Gary Numan
May 03 2026

One of the pioneers of synthpop. This album has aged well, and the synth textures are excellent. I love electric guitar, but even though the album has none the textures are quite engaging, and the synths were varied and never boring. Still could feel a bit samey though at times. 4/5

Dirt by Alice In Chains
May 10 2026
Metallica by Metallica
May 12 2026

Is a bit long but the classics do hit. 4/5

Frampton Comes Alive by Peter Frampton
May 17 2026

I feel like this is an album you need to listen to once before you die and only once. 3/5
