Popular Reviews

It's Blitz! by Yeah Yeah Yeahs

I LOVE this band! Was originally only familiar with their iconic "Heads Will Roll" but after seeing them at Osheaga, I fell in love! They're a band that doesn't have a bad album, and this album is a great showcase of their range. They've got fun pop bops, more aggressive rock and some slower ones on there too. Thank you for giving me a reason to listen to The Yeah Yeah Yeah's today!

Black Monk Time by The Monks

It's annoying that this isn't easily available on the regular music streaming platforms. I quite enjoyed it once I managed to find it, it's got a cool experimental rock vibe. The full album is available on YouTube, but I'm out of luck when it comes to adding any tracks to playlists, so I'd definitely buy it if I saw it.

L.A. Woman by The Doors
Nov 13 2025

A solid bluesy album, with psych rock and folk tones. Definitely a good album for a road trip or late night drive.

Nov 14 2025

An instant classic electronic album. The sampling and transitions were really fun, lots of catchy tracks. I wasn't too familiar with Fatboy Silm, but turns out I already knew like 3 songs on the album.

Rio by Duran Duran
Nov 17 2025

A dreamy synthy pop album, that mixes in some rock. Theres obviously some bigger hits on this album, but every track is terrific!

Young Americans by David Bowie
Nov 18 2025

I really loved this album. It's a cool mix of funky pop and dreamy R&B. The Beatles cover was also a fun surprise!

Endtroducing..... by DJ Shadow
Nov 19 2025

I'm not super familiar with the dance/electronic genre. I had a mixed experience with this. Some tracks I wasn't not a fan of, others I was indifferent to, but often found them fading into the background. Overall I would say a well produced album that just isn't my cup of tea.

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
Nov 20 2025

Didn't know what to expect with this, as I'm really not familiar with Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. I was pleasantly surprised with this album. It's definitely a classic rock and roll album, I mean, American Girl?! But there's hints of prog rock, blues and more.

Scream, Dracula, Scream by Rocket From The Crypt
Nov 21 2025

I have never hear of this group, but I loved this album! It's a really fun blend of punk and rock. I'll definitely be checking out more!

Let It Bleed by The Rolling Stones
Nov 24 2025

This is a pretty solid rock album. There are a couple parts where it creeps too close to country for my taste, but still a fun album. I mean it has the iconic song "You Can't Always Get What You Want"!!!

You Want It Darker by Leonard Cohen
Nov 25 2025

Dark and moody melodies with a soft, gritty voice. I absolutely loved this album's vibe, I've been meaning to check out more by Mr. Cohen and this just shows I need to!

Don't Stand Me Down by Dexys Midnight Runners
Nov 26 2025

I loved this. It's funky, smooth with a bit of soul. An extremely 80's sounding album, in all the best ways!

Frampton Comes Alive by Peter Frampton
Nov 27 2025

This is a pretty cool live rock album. I don't think there's anything too mind blowing, but still a fun time.

Nov 28 2025

I know Coldplay gets a lot of hate, but they nail exactly the vibe they're going for. I think this album does a good job of showcasing their strengths.

The Band by The Band
Dec 01 2025

I'm not super knowable on folk-rock, but I had a lot of fun with this. Will be listening to more!

Out Of The Blue by Electric Light Orchestra
Dec 02 2025

Loved this whole album! I had a blast with every track. The hits are popular for a reason, but every song feels like it could be an iconic track. I will be picking this up on vinyl on day!

Hotel California by Eagles
Dec 03 2025

Another album where I've loved the popular songs for years, but also really liked the other tracks. It's definitely a classic rock album for a reason!

...Baby One More Time by Britney Spears
Dec 04 2025

This was a solid pop album. I obviously knew the titular track, but hadn’t listened to it all the way through and honestly liked some of the other tracks more. More of an R&B vibe than I expected!

Faith by George Michael
Dec 05 2025

This was a lot of fun to listen to! It's obviously full of pop and funk, but the slower songs were also done well and added a good variety of tracks.

Heaven Or Las Vegas by Cocteau Twins
Dec 08 2025

I really liked the style of this album. I wasn't familiar with "Cocteau Twins" at all, but will be gladly diving deeper into their repertoire.

Hunky Dory by David Bowie
Dec 09 2025

This is such a good album!!! Probably one of Bowie's best!

Sweet Baby James by James Taylor
Dec 10 2025

This was a difficult one to rate, as I didn't love it but also can recognize it's very good at what it's trying to be. Overall I'd say not my cup of tea but can totally understand others loving it.

Medúlla by Björk
Dec 12 2025

Heard of her but never checked out her stuff. Not what I'd usually listen to but I really liked this!

Brothers In Arms by Dire Straits
Dec 15 2025

This is an excellent bluesy rock album. I fully listened to it for the first time this year as it was the 40th anniversary, but loved having an excus to give it another listen through.

The Stranger by Billy Joel
Dec 16 2025

This is one of my all time favourite albums. So happy to have a reason to listen to it today. Every track is just exceptional!

Chelsea Girl by Nico
Dec 17 2025

I appreciated this and would give it another listen, but I feel like this just isn't my vibe.

Dig Your Own Hole by The Chemical Brothers
Dec 18 2025

I'm not super familiar with the electronic genre. I enjoyed this album, but didn't fine it had anything revolutionary.

Made In Japan by Deep Purple
Dec 19 2025

Another band I've not listened to much of. I really enjoyed listening through this live album as it's felt like seeing a classic rock show. I'd love to hear more of their studio stuff.

Doolittle by Pixies
Dec 22 2025

Originally I thought this was good and 3 stars, but after another listen I actually really like this one. It's a rock album but dips into punk a lot and has some lighter slower tracks. A cool exploration of the rock genre.

The Cars by The Cars
Dec 23 2025

I loved this one. I knew a few of the tracks already, but the other ones were just as good. A very fun synth-pop/rock time!

Disintegration by The Cure
Dec 24 2025

I love The Cure but I hadn't heard this one. I didn't recognize the tracks, but I really enjoyed listening though this. It's slow with a light, airy feel to it

Time Out by The Dave Brubeck Quartet
Dec 25 2025

Just a solid 40 minutes of jazz

Dec 26 2025

This is an album I've probably heard many times growing up, but ad no clue what it was called. It's a solid classic Christmas compilation!

Ill Communication by Beastie Boys
Dec 29 2025

I've never listened through a Beastie Boys album before, only really hearing the hits before, and I actually really enjoyed it! It was basically what I expected, but was still a fun listen and some classic hiphop tracks!

Siamese Dream by The Smashing Pumpkins
Dec 30 2025

This is another band where I've never listen through a whole album before. I obviously knew a bunch of songs by them, and in fact I saw them at OSH this year, but I hadn't given them a proper listen. I really like this one, it's got a fun punky-rock vibe. I'll have to dedicate more time to their music!

The Specials by The Specials
Dec 31 2025

Thought I'd never heard of these guys, then realized of course I know "A Message To Rudy". I really like their style, it's like an offshoot of punk but mixed with an almost ska-like feel. Very cool!

Want Two by Rufus Wainwright
Jan 01 2026

This an artist that I knew the name, but couldn't really tell you a song by them. I really like the vibe of this album, kind of reminds me of Keane, one of my OG fav bands!

Freak Out! by The Mothers Of Invention
Jan 02 2026

Wow, wow, wow! This is an album that feels like it was made for me! It's trippy, it's funky, it's such a fun time!!! I NEED it on vinyl immediately!

The ArchAndroid by Janelle Monáe
Jan 05 2026

It's smooth. It's funky. It's such a good album!!!

Sea Change by Beck
Jan 06 2026

I didn't expect to like this album as much as I do! I'm not too familiar with Beck, but I found this album reminded me of some of my favourite artists like Djo and The Flaming Lips

Jan 09 2026

I'm really not a country fan, so I was ready to give this 1 star from the get go. But I figured I should at least listen to it, which I'm glad I did, as there were honestly a couple songs I had fun with. Still not a fan of country though.

Jan 12 2026

An absolute classic in the hip-hop genre. I've never to N.W.A. myself, but I instantly recognized so many classic tracks. "Express Yourself" was a really fun surprise!

Jan 13 2026

This is kind of a mixed bag for me. I wouldn't say there's any songs I dislike, it just doesn't feel like they all belong on the same album. It's a fun time, it's just not the most cohesive album.

Kid A by Radiohead
Jan 14 2026

I know I said it before, but this album has such a Keane vibe. I loved this and will definitely listen to it again!

Mermaid Avenue by Billy Bragg
Jan 15 2026

I think this is a decent album, there's just a few moments that go a bit too folksy for me. Maybe I'll change my opinion on another listen through, which I'd like to do sometime

evermore by Taylor Swift
Jan 16 2026

I tried my best to give this a fair shot, but I just find her music so bland. I'm not sayings it's bad, it's just not my thing.

Dirt by Alice In Chains
Jan 19 2026

Never listened to them before but quite liked this album, it's quite punky but borders on metal. I'd definitely listen to more of their stuff!

It's Blitz! by Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Jan 20 2026

I LOVE this band! Was originally only familiar with their iconic "Heads Will Roll" but after seeing them at Osheaga, I fell in love! They're a band that doesn't have a bad album, and this album is a great showcase of their range. They've got fun pop bops, more aggressive rock and some slower ones on there too. Thank you for giving me a reason to listen to The Yeah Yeah Yeah's today!

Ragged Glory by Neil Young & Crazy Horse
Jan 21 2026

I can see why some would be into this, but it's just not my cup of tea

Viva Hate by Morrissey
Jan 22 2026

After listening to the first line, I was thinking this guy ripped off The Smiths... had no clue he did solo stuff! I liked it, I just wouldn't be able to distinguish this from The Smiths.

Sign 'O' The Times by Prince
Jan 23 2026

I feel like I've been slacking on my Prince listening! He's an artist I've always heard and knew the hits, but have never goen out of my to listen too. I think this is a travestry because I absolutely love everything I've heard recently, and this album is the same. I love the funky groovy vibe that's found throughout this album. I will definitely be diving further into the Prince catalog when I have the chance!

The Genius Of Ray Charles by Ray Charles
Jan 26 2026

It's soulful, it's jazzy, it's a good time! You can't go wrong with Ray Charles!

Illinois by Sufjan Stevens
Jan 27 2026

This was an interesting listen, as I had no clue what kind of genre it would be. I found myself really enjoying some songs but others I found a bit boring. I like it and would listen to it again, but I'm not in a rush to own it.

The Healer by John Lee Hooker
Jan 28 2026

Had a lot of fun with this one. I'm just kinda getting into the Blues genre and this was a good way to get a few different vibes, as there's a lot of features on this album. Overall I'd say I quite enjoyed it and will be listening to more of Mr. Hooker.

New Forms by Roni Size
Jan 29 2026

I had fun listening to this one, always love some British rap! But overall there's nothing revolutionary here, at least for me personally. I enjoyed my listen and would listen to more, I just don't think I'd think of throwing them on myself.

The Pleasure Principle by Gary Numan
Jan 30 2026

Really liked this one! I knew "Cars" but wasn't familiar with anything else. I love the sound of this album, it techno and sythny with a cool funk to it. Definitely listening to more of his stuff!

The Doors by The Doors
Feb 02 2026

This is an incredible psych rock album! I've always really enjoyed what I've heard from The Doors, but never sat down and listened through an album until starting this list. I am so glad I listened to this one, probably a new favourite!!!

All Directions by The Temptations
Feb 03 2026

Oooo it's super funky and groovy, the kinda vibe I absolutely LOVE! I only really knew of their Christmas songs, as they're included on a lot of complains. This was a huge injustice and I will be listening to more of their work when I can!

Born In The U.S.A. by Bruce Springsteen
Feb 04 2026

I hate to say it but I kinda found this bland. It's not that I didn't enjoy it and I can absolutely appreciate how iconic it is, I just wasn't blown away by anything, but that could simply be a symptom of over saturation.

Feb 05 2026

I really liked this album! It's very funky and has a lot of riffs and extended solos. It's one I'll absolutely buy if I see it!

Black Monk Time by The Monks
Feb 06 2026

It's annoying that this isn't easily available on the regular music streaming platforms. I quite enjoyed it once I managed to find it, it's got a cool experimental rock vibe. The full album is available on YouTube, but I'm out of luck when it comes to adding any tracks to playlists, so I'd definitely buy it if I saw it.

What's Going On by Marvin Gaye
Feb 09 2026

I've been meaning to listening through this album, so thank god I was given a reason to do so! I know I'm not adding anything, but it's sooooooo good!!! It's so smooth and groovy, you want to keep listening through every song without skipping. This is definitely a must-have vinyl purchase!!!

Talking Heads 77 by Talking Heads
Feb 10 2026

This fun to listen through, I've always meant to! Obviously Psycho Killer is the standout hit, but the other tracks have the same trippy vibe.

Feb 11 2026

I'm not familiar with MC5 at all, I only know of the name. I quite enjoyed this album, it's a cool fusion of bluesy rock with some punk vibes.

Play by Moby
Feb 12 2026

This isn't typically my genre, but I had fun with this one. Some tracks were a bit bland and repetitive for me, but I can see the appeal if Electronic is your thing!

Private Dancer by Tina Turner
Feb 13 2026

Always loved Mrs. Turner since I was a kid, loved having a reason to listen to this album fully! It’s such a good groovy, funky album, pretty much every song is a bop!

Violent Femmes by Violent Femmes
Feb 16 2026

I liked this one a lot! I wasn’t too familiar with this band, but I recognized a few tracks! It’s a good folky punk band, I quite enjoyed listening through this one!

Ellington at Newport by Duke Ellington
Feb 17 2026

I don't know tons about jazz, but I really enjoyed listening through this one! It was a solid hour of some great jazz music!

Feb 18 2026

Another artist I am not super familiar with. I'm aware of her and know her hit single, but haven't done a deep dive. I really enjoyed the mix of tones on this album, there's some slower, more spiritual songs, followed by some more upbeat, fun songs. Definitely will be listening again!

Odessey And Oracle by The Zombies
Feb 19 2026

I absolutely loved this one!!! Psych rock is one of my favourite genres and this album didn't disappoint. I was grooving to it from start to finish, definitely one I'm going to pick up on vinyl.

Behaviour by Pet Shop Boys
Feb 20 2026

Really loved this one! I've always enjoyed the Pet Shop Boys, mainly knowing the hits, but listening through this album makes me think I need to do a deep dive! Every track was incredible, definitely listening to more ASAP!

Come Away With Me by Norah Jones
Feb 23 2026

This an artist I've been aware of but couldn't have told you anything they sang. I quite enjoyed listening through this one, it's got a real dream-like quality to it. This would be a fun one to pick up on vinyl.

Dummy by Portishead
Feb 24 2026

Another band I've heard of but didn't know any of their songs. I'm glad this was on this list, as it gave me a reason to listen through an album that I likely wouldn't have otherwise. It's a really cool vibe, kind of like if electronic and R&B had a baby. Will be listening through again!

Fear Of Music by Talking Heads
Feb 25 2026

Surprisingly I enjoyed this one more than the 77 album, despite not knowing any of the tracks. I think I'll have to spend some time listening to them more, as there was a lot I enjoyed here!

Feb 26 2026

This isn't usually the type of album I throw on, but I quite enjoyed listening through whilst I worked. It's soft and calming, with a slight folky vibe. It's an album I will definitely listen to again

Risque by CHIC
Feb 27 2026

LOVED THIS!!! It's funky, smooth and an overall good time! This is the album I didn't know I needed in my life! Will be picking up the record and listening to more by CHIC!

Wild Is The Wind by Nina Simone
Mar 02 2026

Really enjoyed this one! I've been getting more into the soul genre recently, so this was a fun one to explore. It's crazy how powerful her voice is, I could listen to it all day!

Pearl by Janis Joplin
Mar 03 2026

This was a bit of a mixed bag. There were some tracks I really enjoyed, but others were too close to folk/country for my preference. Overall I'd say I enjoyed listening through, but in future I'd probably listen to specific tracks, rather than throwing the whole album on.

Jazz Samba by Stan Getz
Mar 04 2026

Really enjoyed this one! It's a relaxing 30min album full of smooth sounds and catchy melodies. I really enjoyed "Desafinado", didn't know it would be on here! Would be interested in getting the record.

Triangle by The Beau Brummels
Mar 05 2026

This a group I've never head of before, but I really enjoyed listening through this one! It's very reminiscent of The Beatles and that era of music. Would be interested to check out more from them!

Mar 06 2026

It's too country for my taste. I can see why some would enjoy it, but it's just not my cup of tea. I don't think it's bad though!

Rage Against The Machine by Rage Against The Machine
Mar 09 2026

If you'd asked me before, I would have said I know a few RATM tracks, but I was surprised to discover I'm not familiar with any of them! I guess I've just heard the name before, as I didn't realize they had a Bestie Boys vibe.

Tusk by Fleetwood Mac
Mar 10 2026

I enjoyed listening through this one, as I wasn't super familiar with the songs on the album. It's a good album and fun to listen through, but it is pretty long.

Moby Grape by Moby Grape
Mar 11 2026

Another album that isn't available on streaming platforms, at least not completely. It seems legal issues have troubled this band from day one, which is probably why they weren't more successful. It's a shame too, because I really enjoyed this one after tracking it down on YouTube.

Hysteria by Def Leppard
Mar 12 2026

I've never listened through a Def Leppard album before, but I thouroughly enjoyed listening to this! I was quite to surprised to discover I loved the other tacks way more than the hits! A solid Glam Rock album!

Surrealistic Pillow by Jefferson Airplane
Mar 13 2026

I'm always down for some psych rock, so this was a lot of fun! I've listened to a bit of their stuff before and always enjoyed it, so listening through a full album was a delight!

The Atomic Mr Basie by Count Basie & His Orchestra
Mar 16 2026

Immediately jumps into it, blasting you with rhythm! I thought this one was a really fun mix of songs, from upbeat bops to smooth slow sounds, it's a good 40mins of sweet sounds!

The Stone Roses by The Stone Roses
Mar 17 2026

I quite enjoyed this one. It's a fun, dreamy, psych-rock sound, like if the Beach Boys did Pink Floyd. I'd love to listen to more of their stuff!

Reign In Blood by Slayer
Mar 18 2026

I honestly wasn't sure if metal would be included in this list, so I'm pleasantly surprised that it is!

A Wizard, A True Star by Todd Rundgren
Mar 19 2026

LOVED IT!!!! When I was the artwork, I thought this looked like a cool album and was excited to listen. I was immediately into it and happier to discover my enjoyment continued throughout the album! My only complaint is that I haven't heard it sooner!

Pacific Ocean Blue by Dennis Wilson
Mar 20 2026

At first this didn't really jump out to me, but after listening through it a couple times, I actually really enjoyed it. I wasn't familiar with Dennis Wilson, but this album does have a bit of a Beach Boys vibe, so it makes total sense!

Superunknown by Soundgarden
Mar 23 2026

I enjoyed listening to this one. There wasn't anything that especially stood out to me, other than Black Hole Sun, which I think became a hit for a reason

Jagged Little Pill by Alanis Morissette
Mar 24 2026

Such a good album!!! I've always enjoyed her music and used to jam out to the hits from this album as a kid. I'm delighted to have a reason to listen through the full thing, and even happier to discover the whole album is a banger!

Mama's Gun by Erykah Badu
Mar 25 2026

Another album I absolutely loved! I've seen it for years at work (Sunrise Records) and had it on my list to listen to at some point. So happy I waited until now, as it's a mix of R&B and Funk, which are two genres I've only recently properly gotten into. This is instantly a favourite that i can see myself putting a lot. Now I'll have to go pick up the record from work!

While I thought this was good, I found that none of the songs really stood out to me. Still, it's a good half hour of some bluesy rock and maybe I'll discover something different on another listen through.

good kid, m.A.A.d city by Kendrick Lamar
Mar 27 2026

What a good album! I've always enjoyed Kendrick's music, it was amazing to see him at Osheaga in 2023, but I've mainly listened to his hits/singles. I really enjoyed listening through this one and I didn't know how many I knew from this album! Will be diving deeper into his discography!

At Folsom Prison by Johnny Cash
Mar 30 2026

Oh boy, more country! Like with other albums I've had to listen through on the list, I can see the appeal but it's just really not my vibe. Obviously Mr. Cash is an icon and has incredible voice, it's just not a voice I'm rushing to put on.

Stand! by Sly & The Family Stone
Mar 31 2026

HELL YEA!!! It's so funny I'm getting this album now, when I just discover them organically a couple weeks ago! As previously mentioned, I've been getting more into the r&b/funk genre so this band has been an instant favourite of mine! I've already heard a few of the tracks here, but it was a treat to get to listen through the full thing!

Happy Sad by Tim Buckley
Apr 01 2026

My opinion may change after another listen through, but this one really didn't jump out to me. It's not bad by any means, but it's kind of bland and I didn't hear anything that stood out to me

Sail Away by Randy Newman
Apr 02 2026

This was my first time listening to Randy Newman outside of movie soundtracks. It was interesting to listen through, but I did find that alot of the songs sounded the same.

Reggatta De Blanc by The Police
Apr 06 2026

I actually got into this one way more than I expected! I've always loved the songs I've heard by The Police, mainly the big hits, but I never explored further into their catalog. I really enjoyed the style throughout this album, the Reggae-Rock vibe is right up my alley. So glad this one was included on the list!

Nebraska by Bruce Springsteen
Apr 07 2026

This one really wasn't for me. It was very folky, a genre that's never super exciting to me. But even then, it didn't feel like it was doing anything special. That's not to say it's bad, it's just not my cup of tea.

Roots by Sepultura
Apr 08 2026

I'm not a metalhead by any means, but I enjoyed through the album. It's probably not one I'd thrown on myself, but I can appreciate it still.

The Idiot by Iggy Pop
Apr 09 2026

I quite enjoyed this one! This is an artist I've heard the name of but never properly checked out, besides listening to a couple songs. I'm glad I had the chance to listen through this, as I'd like to listen to more of his stuff!

Suzanne Vega by Suzanne Vega
Apr 10 2026

I've loved Tom's Diner since I was a kid, but hadn't really heard much else from Ms. Vega. I'm happy to have a reason to listen to one of her albums, as I really enjoyed this one! I would be very interested in checking out more!

Apr 13 2026

Another group I've been meaning to check out at some point, as I've known the name for years but never listened to them. I really enjoyed this album, it got catchy lines and funky sounds, what more could you want?!

Harvest by Neil Young
Apr 14 2026

Now one by Mr. Young is much more up my alley. It's a peaceful folky album that contains a few of his best known songs. I enjoyed listening through this one far more than the previous Neil Young album I had on this list, I may even grab it on vinyl!

Isn't Anything by My Bloody Valentine
Apr 15 2026

I was pretty surprised to discover I don't know any songs by them. They're a band I've known of and always assumed I'd heard stuff by them, but apparently not! So I enjoyed listening through this one and was surprised to discover they're very alt rock, as opposed to punk which is what I've assumed they were. I'm eager to listen to more, and excited to see they have other albums on the list!

Melody A.M. by Röyksopp
Apr 16 2026

I really enjoyed this one! I've never heard of them before, but I had a lot of fun listening to this album. A solid 50mins of psychedelic sounds!

Bat Out Of Hell by Meat Loaf
Apr 21 2026

Another iconic album I haven't got round to listening to yet, so I'm glad it was included in this list. I had a lot of fun listening to this one, it's a solid rock album with some glam rock vibes. I will be buying on vinyl if i see it!

Kollaps by Einstürzende Neubauten
Apr 22 2026

Honestly, I wasn't sure what to think about this one. It's a collection of German screaming and noise, and is obviously very experimental. But I did find myself getting into some of the beats once I acclimatized to the sounds. It might not be your thing and it's obviously going to be controversial, but I'll always take a wild swing that misses over another safe generic album.

Melodrama by Lorde

I know she's not for everyone, but I've always been a fan of Lorde. I think this album does a great job of showcasing some different styles, while building off what she established on her previous album. It's an album where I never skip a track, they're all so good!

I actually really enjoyed this one! I wasn't sure what to expect, I've seen this album at work for years, but I don't think I've heard any Nick Drake before. I was pleasantly surprised by the folky vibe that isn't country and is almost psychedelic at times. Definitely one to pick up on vinyl!
