This album gave from a raging republican, ended up being from a progressive LGBTQ rights activist. Fun listen but maybe not my kind of music. Maybe if I'm a blue collar white man in my next life...
Saved (3/12):
- Cover Me
- Downbound Train 🔥
- Bobby Jean
Added the whole entire thing to my playlist. Love Oasis down <3. Definitely want to explore more music like this. Great listening experience
BORINGGGG...not bad music though. No soul, no passion, no aggression. Feel like I'm in a jive bar
Saved (x/13)
- And I Love Her (from the second she started she was different than the others...shes not like other girls)
I danced to a few of these songs so I already knew them.
Too repetitive (DNF)
Saved: Supersonic (didn't really feel like listening to the rest of the album after this song)
THIS IS REAL MUSICCC 🔥🔥
I partially listened to this in passing at work and thought it was repetitive like the other rock albums but gave it another go. Constant switch-ups, catchy, unique, alternative. No other album thus far has moved me like this one has. I can see the elements from recent music influenced by this that I like.
Saved (5/13):
- Quiet
- Hummer
- Disarm
- Soma
- Geek U.S.A. 🔥
(HM: Silverfuck - won't save but a great listening experience)
The epitome of black 90s RnB, almost too much so for me….
I prefer alternative music (including rnb) also wasn’t feeling some of gospel type feel to some the songs but there’s no bad songs. Wouldn’t listen to this album again though.
Saved (1/12):
- I GIVE MY ALLLLL (already had this one saved)
- The Beautiful ones
- Fourth of July
Didnt hate it…didn’t love it. Honestly expected more since I already know how good everlong is before going into this.
Saved: None
HM: Weenie Bernie, exhausted
This is either 2 stars or 4 stars no in between
This is either 2 stars or 4 stars no in between
Didnt even finish the album, music like this set our people back 70 years single handedly. Unnecessarily violent and sexist. IMHO public enemy did a much better job touching this topic. The non-political songs are complete skips. Think they’re all weridos now as well.
This is not something I would sit and listen to. Yet, I did so and mildly enjoyed it . With that being said will never to it again.
Expected a snooze fest, ended up being pretty engaged with the first couple of tracks “Water from a Vine Leaf” and “Into the Paradise”. Experiencing the different sounds feels like letting the music pass through my body and care-free movement. However, it soon progressed to the snooze fest I for-seed it being. Listening felt like a chore.
Solid background, soundtrack music.
A groovy electric funk with a side of hooting and hollering. There was some good moments within most of the songs. I appreciated the creativity, against the grain feel to Björk but I don't really feel strongly for any of the songs on here.
Saved (2/11)
- Crying
- Venus as a Boy (Already knew and had saved)
HM: (Both have some parts I really loved but don't care for the full song)
- There's more to Life Than This - Live Version
- Like Someone in Love
Clear breakaway from his classic country sound we heard in "Red Headed Stranger" earlier. A breakaway I greatly appreciate.
So good, i knew there was really a black man behind this. The whole album is really covers of popular/standards which I found interesting. Thus, theres so many different versions and renditions of these songs by many great artists. you think these songs are good THEY GET BETTERRRRRR WHEN WE DOOO ITTTT
Crazy Horse is Great! Neil Young....
His vocals make me mad. No way this guy became famous sounding like this. I think these songs all had potential if not for him.
Music was not interesting enough for me to want to hear the whole thing so I didn't. We've heard something along the lines of this before. I don't think i'm missing out. Also hate the country mix.
Now that's how you start an album. "Shouldn't be on the list" this, "shouldn't be on the list" that...JUST DANCEEEE. Groovy, light-hearted, and consistent. Considering the length of the album and the number of songs I was concerned if they would be able to keep up the momentum of this album throughout and boy was I wrong…until i wasnt. Second half of the album kind of fell off. This is the most fun I've had listening to an album from the list so far.
Liking the dark kind of heavier sound of "Time Will Break the World" Not sure if the singer's voice is selling it to me though.
Saved (4/10):
- Time Will Break the World
- Horseleg Swastikas
- Transylvania Blues
- Tennessee
Holy ad music.
saved (1/15):
- Never Gonna Give You Up
I am in awe of how talented he was. This is something I would love to have playing in my apartment at all times. I would have to be in a very specific mood to intentionally listen to this though. Instrumentals aren't really for me. I can still greatly appreciate the artistry.
couldnt wait for it to end
Liked it more than some others so far, didn't love it though.
I don't know how it feels to be so loud and wrong that I don't think this album is great. Especially comparing it to the absolute shit that is on this list. Discount Thom Yorke? maybe. But if it sounds like this i'll take it.
Only critique is the medieval festival moments..why?
I knew Queen played. Still don't understand the cult obsession with Bohemian Rhapsody.
Feels like music from theater. This is for fans of hamilton (derogatory).
Disappointed as soon as it started
The fall off is insane, didn't know coldplay made music like this
Sparks I already knew and is still the best song on here.
Yellow a little overplayed.
continuing my trend of liking classic rock music less and less from this list
The vocals ruined all of this for me...he cannot be serious. More soul music from white men with not a real ounce of soul. Had some groovy moments when he decided to spare us.
The last two songs saved it from being mid. (As Yet Untitled / Who's loving you). Definitely could've died without hearing this.
Saved (0):
- HM: Let's Go Foward
The worst part of this album was it ending. this reminded me why I started this list, gems like this. I don't know how I never heard of this band before but I can't wait to explore more of their music.
I guess making heat is genetic. 3.5/5
NOTE: Only listened to tracks from the original edition.
Queen of Rock N' Roll. Think this was one of the few Rock N' Roll albums I enjoyed. Even though all the songs were solid I saved:
- Show some respect
- Let's stay together
- Private dancer
- 1984
Loveee the breakdown in Roundabout but way too long for no reason. didn't really care for the instrumentals except for Heart of the Sunrise.
she might not want to hear it anymore but i surely do. idk why son of a preacher man was so popular with the amount of songs on here that outshine it by miles.
saved (5/10)
- I dont want to hear it anymore
- Just one smile
- The windmills of your mind
- In the land of make believe
- No easy way down
This was a solid album. A little disappointed in some of the musical choices they made, would’ve made this even better. Feels like they went a kind of generic route. Especially night by night.
Sounds fine, won't be listening again though
- Saved (0)
Not my vibe, but not bad. got my feet tapping
Thought this was a solid album. Pleasantly surprised.
Saved (6/15):
- Clown Strike
- You Tripped at Every Step
- 20% Amnesia
- London's Brilliant Parade
- Rocking Horse Road
- All the Rage
oh. so this is why you all love this album so much.
Not really sure where this album went at the end but the first half or so is solid.
Saved (4)
- The Things You said
- Strangelove
- Little 15
- Behind the Wheel
- To Have and To Hold
A big fan of self-titled, think its cool how this album has a different sound. Bad brains has yet to disappoint.
doesn't even sound good enough to make up for these bird brain corny lyrics. especially knowing this album was picked over an album like fearless?? madness
Girl Like Me wasnt bad
did not move me. blue sunday was my favorite song though.
The concept album is interesting. The album has a haunting sound to it but the middle of the album was lost on me sonically. His deep and sort of monotone singing voice fits well for some songs and kind of clashes with others. I was a big fan of Lady Day.
Nothing bad to say about this album. It has some great sounds especially S.O.F.T. and one of the albums most aligned with my taste. However, there's nothing I really loved about the album either and probably wouldn't return for another listen. Maybe it'll grow on me...
not good enough to excuse the random and unnecessary drop of the N word.
its not that is bad, its just not good...a safe album, palatable, but ultimately flat, uninteresting, and generic. I can appreciate the topics uncovered in this album.
classic rock evokes the same feeling as country music does for me, this does nothing for me though not bad music, seems like it was a great show live. this objectively a great live performance
Hootin with a side (or 50) of hollerin but not in a completely bad way. Great live performance but not my cup of tea, DNF
Feels like the kind of album that would grow on me if I listened to it a few more times staring off strong with The Shining Hour. I’m not the biggest fan of country music but whether it’s the heavier rock influence or the melancholy feel of it this song really did it for me.
I appreciate listening to music using keys not common in western music. this was a nice listen but probably wont be returning. Qurbani still holds my top spot for indian soundtracks
pleasantly surprised. ended up listening to this one twice. simple yet touching
love a good genre fusion, the soul elements are what keep this album interesting
