not the usual type of music i listen to but objectively just sooo good
i think i'm biased because i grew up with mr blue sky and sweet talking woman (thank u dad) but also this is so fun from start to finish. will be listening a lot!
not really my thing i fear. wasn't a fan of some songs lacking any kind of percussion
much preferred the first half but even then there was only a couple of songs that grabbed me... o mamma when will it end
nice to have on in the background !
musically very interesting ! some right bangers on this
actually enjoyed this more than i thought! nice to listen to whilst getting chores done
this is on me because i go to music for the instrumentals more than the lyrics which is way less of the focus here. big poppa still hits tho
refuse to give him streams
huge album for those that enjoy riding elevators
being super subjective here but i really couldn't stand this, every song was giving me a visceral feeling of wanting to just turn it off lol
really enjoyed some of these songs but i think i have to be in a certain mood for them, which i am not often in. maybe over time i will rate this higher as i let it marinate. i'm also way more of a background music person than a lyrics person, so a lot of the time these highly praised songwriters can go over my head. I Want You To Love Me may as well have gutted me and left me for dead though, i'll admit that much.
the first half was pretty nice but some of the songs on the second half kinda annoyed me lol
i mean it must be great if you like this because it's all very much of the same. a lot of the songs were just too slow for me - really made it feel like it was dragging on
iconic opening track but the rest is very samey and gets boring fast
just a bit boring unfortunately, didn't care for the concept much
just hooting and hollering
i'm still trying to figure out what kind of metal i like but i enjoyed this way more than i thought i would!
i don't listen to her in my spare time but i can't deny the impact of this. i'd heard the majority of the songs before many times which speaks to how iconic it is
a bit forgettable but i can't fault it much
can totally appreciate them being one of the foundational influences for post-punk/goth rock, which are some of my fav genres. really liked some songs but others not so much
surprisingly didn't hate it
for the love of god i'm so over all these subpar 60s psychedelic rock albums. if these men were young today they'd be the type to have podcasts where they talk about absolutely fucking nothing and think they're god's gift to the world
i think with what it's trying to do, it does very well. unfortunately i just didn't vibe with it that much. made me feel weirdly sad and it didn't help with how long it is. also kinda reminded me of the whole millenial optimism trend, i'm sure they were eating this up
really enjoyed this, admittedly haven't listened to much of bowie so excited to hear the other albums on this list
LOVED this. very cohesive album whilst also being so stylistically diverse. Prince was an absolute genius
was vibing with this but the speaking parts really threw me at times lol
less my thing musically but the lyrics were so honest and vulnerable. felt like listening to someone's diary
absolutely adored this. one of those albums where it all just flows. couldn't turn it off for the rest of day after the first listen. i wasn't really checking the song titles as i listened so i couldn't tell you my favourites, but i do know there are none i don't like or wanted to skip, which does not happen for me often!
this could be a 4, maybe closer to a 3.5. really good just have to be in a certain mood for it
got bored pretty quickly, not a fan of his vocals
one of those albums where it's good and i can hear the influences that it's had but it just didn't really grab me so much
great album - particularly obsessed with She's So Loose, couldn't turn it off all day
unfortunately have to agree about it all being a bit dull, and the cursive singing got pretty insufferable real fast
smoke on the water was probably one of the earliest rock songs i was shown and liked when i was really young so i knew i was gonna have a good time with this
some decent tunes, nothing to write home about though
not a fan of his vocals. begging him to put the harmonica down
perfectly fine background music
i'm actually so behind on the morrissey lore that at first i assumed the title was intended to be gimmicky but that track was crazy. i've recently had to go back to eating meat for health reasons after several years of being a veggie so i'm glad i'm less morrissey-adjacent as a silver lining lmao.
i enjoyed some tracks but others less so - probably more of a 3.5
not all that fussed about jazz but this was decent to have on in the background. reminded me of some of the big band stuff that my parents love and would play a lot when i was a child.
i was leaning towards giving this a 4 during the first few songs but kinda lost interest in the second half. it sounds very nostalgic, like one of those albums you heard a lot as a child that you still adore as an adult even if it doesn't really match up with your music taste anymore
so close to giving this a 5 but i don't know how to feel about everything being compiled into 3 tracks. i think it's a very cool concept, i'd just prefer to more easily listen to individual parts (I Get Up, I Get Down had me feeling like i was seeing god, for example), without having to skim through it all. but i had a good time and i really like Yes' sound! will likely relisten
it was nice ! had the 70s sound i enjoy, just nothing that special
such an incredible musician and the singles are fantastic. i do think it overstayed its welcome a little bit for me though
really solid. i think some tracks were a little forgettable but the memorable ones really make up for it
real potential here for this to marinate and be rated as a 5. beautifully atmospheric, finally some background music that isn't totally forgettable. sounds like it'd be perfect for one of those quiet moments alone where you're actually romanticising life - maybe my rating will change if i listen to it during one of those
can i just say that giving me this album on the day i broke up with a guy i'd been dating for a while who really loves Radiohead is, quite frankly, sick and twisted x
anyway. this could have been a 5. i've never properly listened to Radiohead but had quite high expectations given how well-praised they are. i'd already heard a couple songs on this album which i knew i liked. some of the new tracks for me did really grab me ((Nice Dream) is fucking incredible). but i just didn't connect with a few too many of the others for this to be a 5. maybe it'll change with time. i do think it's a really great album - very cohesive and has a nice sound all the way through. but i guess i just found it a bit tame at times? i'm kinda blaming my high expectations there. i have seen others express the same sentiment and apparently this is their most accessible album, so perhaps i'll find their other albums more interesting.
during the first half i was thinking of giving this a 3 and that maybe everyone was being a bit too harsh... nah this gets really boring by the second half, was annoying me by the end. just the same song over and over.
really enjoyed this! very solid all the way through
pleasantly surprised by this! not sure how much i'll relisten but objectively a good album
a fun listen, just didn't grab me much. some of the songs went on a bit long
cannot tell you how happy i was to get an abba album, such an easy 5 stars. personally i judge an abba club night on whether head over heels and under attack get played
wayyy too country dad rock for me
won me over in the second half! had a fun time
not my thing but didn't hate it
i refuse to glaze that 10 minute guitar solo
indie is one of those genres that sounds good for about 6 months when you're 19 and then never again. this just took me back to my own phase and all the teenage feelings of being absolutely miserable because why wouldn't you be when all you listen to is fucking indie
live albums are only good if you already care about the band and i'll stand by that
nice but a bit forgettable for me. her voice was veering on cursive occasionally which was making my eye twitch but it wasn't bad enough to knock off another point.
wasn't too bad in the first half but all that talk singing just got annoying as hell
liked some songs but less fussed about others. decent!
a bit too country, i found that a previous R.E.M. album made for great background noise but this one was noticeably dislikeable
probably the hip-hop album i've enjoyed the most on here so far but there were just tooooooooo many of those interludes. whole album in general was just way too long.
enjoyed the ones i recognised but wasn't too fussed about the rest
feel conflicted about this. really enjoyed some of the songs with a couple having been in my playlists for some time already, but the rest of the album seemed to fall a bit flat for me.
