Popular Reviews

One second you’re enjoying a sophisticated manhattan whilst chatting up someone at the bar. The next, running from the mob through back alleys in a foreign country. Romanic, chaotic and so much tension

Brothers In Arms by Dire Straits

Another band swept up in 80s softness, not that it’s a bad thing in same cases… Songs are far too long. Feels like it’s made for a few pop tracks but all up, doesn’t flow very well and the slower tracks come across just dull a lot of the time. Give me the self titled any day. Fave tracks: Money for Nothing, Ride Across The River

Brothers by The Black Keys

I feel like this is something I might have really liked back in the day

Head Hunters by Herbie Hancock
Nov 17 2025

Iconic and very enjoyable

Trio by Dolly Parton
Nov 19 2025

Fairly enjoyable if not pretty forgettable. Weird AI album art on AM unsettled me

Tubular Bells by Mike Oldfield
Nov 23 2025

In favour of Brexit and a Trump supporter… out of the Oldfield’s, I MUCH prefer Sally.

Graceland by Paul Simon
Nov 24 2025

Hard not to love this album!

Back to Basics by Christina Aguilera
Nov 27 2025

As lengthy as it is, shit slaps

Nov 29 2025

Why would you put horses on the cover if you wish you were an eagle? Is this from the eagle’s perspective? Pretty sure eagles don’t have grainy ass vision

Violator by Depeche Mode
Nov 30 2025

To quote Domhnall Gleeson in Ex Machina - “I like Depeche Mode.”

Smash by The Offspring
Dec 05 2025

Smash? Pass. Fave tracks: Come Out and Play, Self Esteem

Dec 13 2025

As much as 14 year old me loved this album, it’s just okay isn’t it

Shadowland by k.d. lang
Dec 14 2025

Feels like an ode to a bygone era, released 20 years too late, with a country twist. Appreciate the vocal / lap steel accompaniment being pushed hard on the opener

Dec 17 2025

Sensual soul with down-tempo beats, what’s not to love! Fave tracks: Ascension, Dancewithme

Marquee Moon by Television
Dec 25 2025

10/10 Truly hard to fathom that the influence this had on modern rock music… Started recollected records this year and this was one of my first purchases. A masterclass for art-punk and the nyc guitar scene. Top tracks: Venus Marquee Moon Elevation

Meat Puppets II by Meat Puppets
Dec 28 2025

Genuinely thought this was Meet the Muppets 2 (I’m dyslexic) and was in for a rude shock. As far as cowpunk goes, it’s fine, whatever.

1984 by Van Halen
Dec 30 2025

Shows it’s age..

Hot Fuss by The Killers
Jan 01 2026

Yep

Gorillaz by Gorillaz

Get the cool shoeshiinnnneeee

Bossanova by Pixies
Jan 04 2026

Don’t mind this at all, especially the second half

Licensed To Ill by Beastie Boys
Jan 06 2026

One big joke that didn’t age particularly well. Fun along the way and captures the mood - feels like a soundtrack album for 80s New York

Guitar Town by Steve Earle
Jan 07 2026

You know what, I don’t hate it…?

Stardust by Willie Nelson
Jan 08 2026

Covers for your mothers. Very pleasant listening!

The Band by The Band
Jan 10 2026

Pack the bags, cigarettes and hard liquor, it’s time for a good old fashioned road trip across the midwest. Fave tracks: The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down, Jawbone & The Unfaithful Servant

Safe As Milk by Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band
Jan 12 2026

You see beef, you know it’s going to be weird

good kid, m.A.A.d city by Kendrick Lamar
Jan 13 2026

Let’s gooooooo, no disputing it. Fave tracks: The Art of Peer Pressure, Good Kid & Sing About Me, I’m Dying of Thirst

Vauxhall And I by Morrissey
Jan 14 2026

I’d rather shop at Morrisions than listen to this shit again

What's That Noise? by Coldcut
Jan 16 2026

Seems like a pretty weak inclusion overall. Sure, you could call it the inception album for the cold cut/ ninja tune legacy… enjoyable though

Blonde On Blonde by Bob Dylan
Jan 17 2026

4/5 Not my fave Dylan, but still goes. Fave track: stuck inside with the Memphis blues again

Phrenology by The Roots
Jan 18 2026

Experimental, groovy and unexpectedly heavier in parts Fave tracks: the seed 2.0 & rhymes and ammo

Jan 19 2026

One second you’re enjoying a sophisticated manhattan whilst chatting up someone at the bar. The next, running from the mob through back alleys in a foreign country. Romanic, chaotic and so much tension

Transformer by Lou Reed
Jan 21 2026

Harry, mark and john

Achtung Baby by U2
Jan 22 2026

Unsurprisingly not very satisfying and a bit same same.

Kollaps by Einstürzende Neubauten
Jan 23 2026

Wasn’t sure if noise cancelling was broken in the middle of London. Lots of scattered ‘ideas’… maybe. A tough listen at 8am.

Doggystyle by Snoop Dogg
Jan 24 2026

Crazy to go from this to menulog ads. Hasn’t aged well.. beats are good if you can get past everything else

L'Eau Rouge by The Young Gods
Jan 25 2026

Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. It’s just not good, is it?!

Darkness on the Edge of Town by Bruce Springsteen
Jan 28 2026

There’s parts of this I really like, and others I don’t care much for at all - maybe even give me the ick… I can see why it appealed so much to a certain demographic. Kinda cool the first track (after watching the TM movie of the same title) came to inspire Nebraska Fave tracks: Badlands, Something in the Night & Prove It All Night

At Mister Kelly's by Sarah Vaughan
Jan 29 2026

Live albums are always a funny one. Is it the recording itself, the string songs or significance of that performance.. and on a personal level, how much do you resonate with the songs and how does it differ to the studio cut. I’m not sure this has any of those things specifically, yet there’s definitely some magic here and beautiful vocals. A very relaxing morning listen.

Duck Stab/Buster & Glen by The Residents
Jan 30 2026

Listened to this half asleep on a flight to Germany (not Constantinople) and it genuinely frightened me a bit. An experimental string of stream-of-concious tracks of someone undergoing a drug psychosis. Can imagine it influenced bands like King Gizz, Thee Ohh Sees, Ariel Pink, Deerhunter etc. Think the B-Sides are better and enjoyed getting electrocuted at the end. Fave tracks: Semolina, Weight-lifting Lulu

Rubber Soul by Beatles
Feb 04 2026

Beep-beep-mm-beep-beep, yeah.

Scissor Sisters by Scissor Sisters
Feb 05 2026

Can’t fathom how this could make the rankings. Seems like a knock off EJ. In saying that, it’s pop, cheeky, queer and honestly, maybe what 2004 needed. Not sure the Comfortably Numb cover sticks though, but at least it’s different…?! Fave tracks: Take Your Mama (classic), Filthy/ Gorgeous

Deja Vu by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
Feb 07 2026

Bangers and Nash Fave tracks: Our House, Almost Cut My Hair, Deja vu

Wild Wood by Paul Weller
Feb 08 2026

Can’t see myself ever revisiting this

My Aim Is True by Elvis Costello
Feb 09 2026

Bro was born a decade or two too late

25 by Adele
Feb 10 2026

She’s got the vocal chops, but this is a snooze fest. At least 21 had some chutzpah

xx by The xx
Feb 12 2026

Pure nostalgia

16 Lovers Lane by The Go-Betweens
Feb 13 2026

Real Aus nostalgia on this one

The Cars by The Cars
Feb 14 2026

Not too shabby, but I can’t take this seriously.

Vulnicura by Björk
Feb 15 2026

Never gotten into Björk, didn’t mind this. I think this kinda stuff ends up really growing on you

Sea Change by Beck
Feb 16 2026

Never been a Beck fan, but this ain’t half bad

She's So Unusual by Cyndi Lauper
Feb 18 2026

The hits hit. Not sure about the rest

Gentlemen by The Afghan Whigs
Feb 19 2026

Not sure about this one.

Mama's Gun by Erykah Badu
Feb 20 2026

A sample “oh fuck yes” spoken when this popped up says it all. Fave tracks: Bag Lady, Didn’t Cha Know

Siembra by Willie Colón & Rubén Blades
Feb 21 2026

Me gusta mucho esto!!

Boston by Boston
Feb 22 2026

Not half bad

Slanted And Enchanted by Pavement
Feb 23 2026

Never been a massive pavement fan. Fave song: Conduit for Sale!

We Are Family by Sister Sledge
Feb 24 2026

An absolute gem! Roger’s and Edward’s bring the beat Fave tracks: He’s the Greatest Dancer, Lost in Music, Thinking of You

Brothers In Arms by Dire Straits
Feb 25 2026

Another band swept up in 80s softness, not that it’s a bad thing in same cases… Songs are far too long. Feels like it’s made for a few pop tracks but all up, doesn’t flow very well and the slower tracks come across just dull a lot of the time. Give me the self titled any day. Fave tracks: Money for Nothing, Ride Across The River

Another Green World by Brian Eno
Feb 26 2026

Weird and wonderful, Eno to a tee. That perfect moment between Roxy Music and getting really conceptually ambient Beautiful artwork too

Two Dancers by Wild Beasts
Feb 27 2026

Another late 2000s indie UK band makes the list… I remember listening to this back in the day and kinda enjoying it… In reflection, the lyrics and vocals are testing a lot of the time when Hayden (?) is singing and much preferred the tracks with Tom (?) on vocals. A mercury prize nomination? Glad this lost out to The XX

Leftism by Leftfield
Mar 02 2026

Into this! If anything a little underwhelming

Lady Soul by Aretha Franklin
Mar 03 2026

A classic. Short and sweet, powerful and so well mixed

Lady In Satin by Billie Holiday
Mar 04 2026

Hard to not enjoy this. Revisiting on a Sunday morning with Bloody Mary in hand, smoking a cig indoors

Five Leaves Left by Nick Drake
Mar 06 2026

An Incredibly emotional and moving debt, some serious talent to write this at 20

Hybrid Theory by Linkin Park
Mar 07 2026

Not for me but enjoyed it more than I thought

Parachutes by Coldplay
Mar 08 2026

The Thom Yorke wannabe and co. debut album really brings back early memories of music. Always felt more of an affiliation to Rush of Blood to the Head & X&Y, but this holds its own. Fave tracks: Don’t Panic, Spies, Trouble, High Speed

The Sounds Of India by Ravi Shankar
Mar 09 2026

It’s pretty cool Columbia records released this back in the 50’s to be like “stop being so white, other music exists”

Bad by Michael Jackson
Mar 10 2026

Think he was trying to tell us something here..

Mar 15 2026

So a 28min promotional album capturing the first 3 years of the band makes the cut? I’ve never got The Hives hype. On paper I should enjoy this, but it just feels like the empty soul of something it’s trying to emulate.
