1001 Albums Summary

Long and varied, like going on an adventure. Doesn't have any really strong singles

One of my favorite albums. Feels like being alone in the night. Never realized it was categorized as trip-hop

Good, but I couldn't shake the feeling that it sounds dated and that I "should" enjoy it more. Actively unpleasant at times, but kind of the point of the art message

Hard to compete with happy nostalgic memories of earlier Bowie songs. Another album elevated by its place and moment in time. My favorite parts here are the moody saxophone parts

Fun. I'd never heard the title track with the vocals stuttering before

Interesting mix of casual and homey with complex anthems

Given the pop culture image of Dylan being incomprehensible, him squeezing in so many words while still being melodic is amazing. I shouldn't have put off listening to his work for so long

Solid rock album

Despite how familiar I am with highway star it gave me goosebumps this time, so gotta go with five even if there's some downtime in this album

Some classics but also some strange parts

Concepts that I like put together in a way that just didn't click at all with me

I liked it enough to buy the album at the time, the singles are still good and have their place as popular karaoke options, but it ms near the bottom in my list of songs to return to

Even after listening to the full album I haven't pinned down exactly why I don't like Winehouse's songs. Some combination of the lyrics and/or trappings of soul. The single exception is Back to Black, which is an excellent song

Sounds from the 70s but doesn't feel dated often

Hurt alone could make this 5 stars for me, but it even fits well within the story of the album. Still don't fully get into the industrial metal parts
