Norah has a pleasing, distinctive voice, able to impart groove and smooth. Her diction especially is top-notch. So that’s the plus. Having said that, the album on the whole is Starbucks jazz. Really important jazz, heck, important music, has a challenge aspect to listen to. This goes down easy, and it’s a little beige. It’s good, and accessible, but it’s a little too easy. She’s done better. Nothing wrong with an album of easy vocals, but nothing groundbreaking either.
Sumptuous. Lovely to listen to.
there was no way around Norah Jones in the years after this release. her voice is astounding and the music feels warm, but after years and years of coffee table weak sauce silky smooth singer songwriter stuff, listening to this is a special kind of agony.
Niet slecht, niet boeiend
Beautiful voice. Great music to cook dinner to.
I used to work at a restaurant/ jazz club in the West Village that fired Norah Jones for being "too boring". She won Grammys the next year.
2% milk. Nobody hates it, but does anyone love it? Great singing. Great playing. Love that warm guitar tone. But this is music that seems to WANT to be played in the background.
Listenable but no go-to
nice and calm dinner party music
My favorite bit of trivia about Norah is that her father is Ravi Shankar. So weird! As for this record, it's kind of crazy how huge this was when it came out, given how freaking MILQUETOAST it is. Her voice is nice and it makes for very good background music, but it offers very little substance if at all. I did not dislike any tracks, but could I remember any of these tracks three days from now? NO WAY.
Something about this just makes me stabby. Is it the soulfulness without soul? Is it the “mellow vibe” that should make me “unwind” but instead makes me itchy? I love Steely Dan. It’s not that it’s smooth jazzy. This is the second time I’ve listened to this, and I can say with certainty, this is horrible, for me. I can see why people like this. The production is quality. But Norah? I want to get far, far away from Norah. 2 Boolean: False, straight up
Great voice, but thats about as interesting as it gets. Ok background music I guess. Drags on
zzzzzz
Beautiful
Chill

#137 - Norah Jones - Come Away With Me ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I like loud, bombastic, theatrical, uptempo rock music. This album is basically as opposite of that as possible. And it’s fantastic. I only knew the song “Don’t Know Why” from this album because it was on Sesame Street. But apparently it’s one of the best selling albums in history. I’m really happy that I got to listen to this. Just some soft, jazzy vocals and piano is basically all that was needs to create this monster hit. It’s just so simple and so good.
It's not unlike the edm albums you get served on this site every now and then where every song sounds the same and it all just kind of blurs together. I don't like this type of vocal style, either, unfortunate. It's not bad. I just don't like it.
Too slow pero hay bangers
nice and soft, great vocals

Stunning voice but not my choice of sings
Mmm. I saw Norah Jones on ACL in 2002 just before this album was released. I was instantly enamored. Her voice on this album contains so much more than her 21 years of life should have contained. That's an awful sentence - oh well. I was in grad school at the time, studying vocal performance with a decent amount of jazz singing under my belt - and this album blew me away. I get that "Come Away With Me" and "Turn Me On" and "Don't Know Why" have been overplayed in coffee shops and the like in the 25 years since this album was released. Get over it. I would say that I'm shocked by the abundance of "3s" this album has been given, but I know that jazz is certainly not for everyone. It's a demanding genre, even on a pop adjacent album like this one. By many traditional metrics, this album is exceptional - particularly for a debut. But I think one of the most remarkable elements is Norah Jones defining a signature sound that you can discern throughout her incredible career - she has a signature touch, using voicings and accents that are unique to her. That's the real genius at work here - and when I realised at 23 years old that she is about 6 weeks younger than me, well...I tempered my self-expectation as a musician just a bit. But oh - that voice, that coy smile. As Tom Moon wrote of Jones in his book "1000 Recordings To Hear Before You Die," "All she has to do is whisper and it's devastating." 5 Stars
This is an album I love. The restrained percussion, sparse piano filling in the gaps, gentle guitar and a voice that displays experience and maturity far beyond her 22 years at the time of recording. What a debut!
This is a good album, "Seven Years", and "Cold Cold Heart" were my favorites.
Live her voice and everything that comes out of her.
Rewards attention.

Lovely little jazz pop album, nice way to start the day. I know she's hugely successful but I've never really listened to her before, I don't expect she's too bothered by that. 🤣.
Sometimes I give an album three stars because I recognise it's absolutely brilliant but it's not to my taste. This one, however, gets three stars because it's absolutely fine. Norah Jones has a beautiful voice. There were no tracks I loved and none I hated.
What can I say? I got swept away.
Instant time machine to any coffee shop in the early-00s. She obviously has a pretty voice and the piano is nice but it really is just permanently indistinguishable from cafe background music to me. Totally innocuous. On another note, I always forget she’s Ravi Shankar’s daughter so when I read it again I’m like ‘huh, oh yeah’.
Its not bad, I just dont care It does sound nice so its got that going for it Cold cold heart Heyo btw she has sex guys in case you didnt know from "Turn Me On".... shocker ik
Slayyy
The sound of the early 2000s. Coffeehouse with a rediscovery of piano Laurel Canyon vibes. The singles off this one were inescapable at the time. Monster, trend setters. While the album itself isn’t bad, for me, it’s a sound that is not sustainable for a career. Interesting in the moment the way of the early 2000s birth of the internet felt everywhere.
Puts the oothja in smooth jazz.
Honestly very nice, and takes me back to college, when this was playing in every coffee shop you walked into
When you want you background music to impress an Obama-era Starbucks patron.
This is the album to play while you spend a rainy afternoon with your daughter. It’s as natural as bird singing. Norah is for the birds. In a good way. I love you Norah. Your voice is tea to the ears
Completely not a fan
I do not like her voice and I do not like her songs. I also don’t particularly care for the production.
I just found fhis really dull
Good background noise. #6
Never heard before. Nice and pleasant without being really essential! The title track was a standout and did get stuck in my head for a bit!
Very nice and peaceful easy listening. Beautiful voice. Excellent vibe.
muy buena voz, la primera canción me encantó, quería más del estilo. Muy buen disco.
Almost too perfect.
I like her voice, her musical style, the positive feelings, the calmness she gives me through her music. Great debut.
Album #304 Norah Jones: Come Away With Me Unlike her father, Norah Jones realized that the best way to have a successful music career is to make music that is actually enjoyable to listen to. It is a bit of a marvel that this album was as ubiquitous as it was, and sold as much as it did; this isn’t the kind of music that would go triple platinum nowadays. A lot has been said that it is Starbucks music, and though that isn’t wrong, I don’t find that to be such a bad thing. Come Away With Me is easy-listening; it plays it safe, but also it is just plain good. Not every album needs to reinvent the wheel; sometimes it is enough to just put out something pleasant. Vocal jazz was making somewhat of a comeback in the 2000s, so Norah certainly capitalized on the trend; this album sounds like Amy Winehouse if her rehab was a success. So though it isn’t one I’ll be thinking about a lot, it is the kind of album that can be put on whenever and please a room, and that is an incredible feat in its own right. Best Songs: Don’t Know Why, Nightingale, Turn Me On Worst Song: I’ve Got To See You Again Score out of 10: 7
This sounds like the music they play in Starbucks
I remember Norah Jones being a big deal when she came along. I was probably a teenager. I guess it was this album so I was 13 or so. I remember a soulful song she had that was everywhere. Looks like it’s the opening track of this album. I’ll give it a go. It’s very quiet mostly acoustic folk/pop music. A lot of it is very nice. She has a great voice. It’s jazzy at times and usually keeps your attention. It’s really her voice that keeps you invested. It’s solid as a whole. It slows down a bit too much at times and feels a little repetitive at times. But her voice and these songs all work very well together. It’s overall not my style a lot. But think I’m going to go with a 3. It’s definitely noteworthy even if it’s a bit boring at times.
Strong 3
This is a spectacular album for cozy evenings or lovely slow mornings to calm you, comfort you or set the mood, and I've been enjoying it since it was released (still have a CD!). Norah's voice is honey to my ears, and this album is such a cozy classic.
Don’t know why is recognizable. Otherwise not bad but not interesting. 2
Beautiful
Such a gorgeous voice. This was a lovely change of pace.
A ausência de risco e de modulação dos instrumentos e vocais torna o álbum extremamente desinteressante. Cool jazz pasteurizado pra caber em uma embalagem pop amorfa e insensível.
Surprisingly good. Lovely voice and songs to suit it.
I've seen Norah Jones in concert. She puts on a great show, she has an amazing voice. Not something I'm ever just gonna put on for the pleasure of listening to however.
I had written off this as boring easy listening music for years, something my parents would listen to on date nights or whatever (although my dad always said he much preferred Diana Krall). But then a few years back I heard her covering Wilco's Jesus's, etc on Neil Young's school benefit album, and it gave me a new appreciation foe how fantastic her voice is. I still find this album a bit dull in places, but it's a smooth and relaxing listen. The production is great too, so it sounds lovely on headphones. Or maybe I'm just old now?
got nothing out of this basically. not particularly into the vocals, which is an insurmountable problem when the instrumentals are this stripped back, very obviously leaving the vocals as the primary (maybe even only) appeal of the whole album. half the time i honestly didn't even realise i was listening to a different song after the last one had ended a couple minutes ago favourite songs: don't know why (i guess) least favourite song: none in particular
Soft and soulful. Music to get down with it.
Ahh yes, this particular style of music from the early 2000s. Norah Jones and Jack Johnson are the 2 most notable from this specific genre of singer songwriter indie pop. I like Norah a lot better than Jack Johnson, but only because she has a strong element of jazz to her music.
I needed some 00s mum vibes this day. I was a little disappointed it wasn’t her other album which I remember stealing from my mum and would never have admitted I loved, but I did; because that one had a duet with Dolly Parton I believe. Anyway, still a solid offering but didn’t deliver the same magic of ‘Feels like home’ for me.
Did not have high hopes for this, but it really does exactly what it's supposed to. Mellow, smooth, good soundtrack to doing other things, and utterly inoffensive. No wonder it sold a billion copies. The most 3/5 album ever made.
Dull and unremarkable
Tasteful indeed. There isn't anything bad to say about it. It doesn't resonate and it is highly unlikely Ill play it again, but if a tune pops up randomly I won't turn it off.
Yeah whatever whatever starbucks 2000s coffeehouse jazz. Honestly, I thought this was pretty good for what it is -- they don't make adult contemporary like they used to. I saw Norah Jones when I was a teenager and she opened for the Dave Matthews Band. I don't remember much except she made a joke about her fly being down.
When this appeared this morning, I thought the generator had been hacked. Having listened to the album, I haven't changed my mind. Saccharine, drippy and bland.
This is the kind of record I was brought up to consider edgeless and bland, but it's gorgeously arranged and produced, full of subtle details you feel more than hear. It's not edge-of-your-seat listening, of course, but it's as fun as it is comforting to hear musicians confident and skilled enough to play with restraint. They're having fun, and you know you're in good hands. It's also well-sequenced, so it doesn't feel too samey. Star ratings are incredibly limiting; I don't want to rate this as highly as, say, Hunky Dory, but it deserves more than a rating that implies a shrug.
Love. this. album. This is another one I own already and love to play particularly early morning when I just want to ease into my day. No rushing. A sexy sultriness. Coffee. Eye's still heavy. No harshness. I will always be happy to wake up to Norah with her sweet & evocative vocals, the cascading piano, slight touch of double bass, acoustic guitars, hand drums or a brushed snare. A smile that comes from the gentle, swollen, recently kissed, lips on a sleepy relaxed face. Come away with me x
Relaxing and melodic
Lovely music to listen to 😊 Four stars…
Beautiful voice; love the chill nature of the album and soft sound, but overall not really my thing.
The charming allure of Don’t Know Why fades quickly. Some of the arrangements and her voice are beautiful, but this felt extremely mediocre overall and just plain boring.
Ger mycket amy Winehouse vibbar, gillar mycket och ett perfekt chill album!!
It's not normally my style of music but I am really glad I gave this album a chance.
I went through a phase of listening to a lot of Norah Jones. I really her, and still do, so it was nice to play this as I hadn’t listened to her for a while. Not my favourite of her albums, but enjoyable none the less.
The opening track is great. The rest of it is lovely but doesn't really stick with me.
Blues, Jazz even country at times. I enjoyed it but once it ended I'm not sure I can remember much about it
Smooth jazz that soundtracked countless dinner parties
This is really nice. Pretty arangements, heart punching lyrics and full of catchy melodies. I can see why this would be on best of lists including projects like this. That being said I personally dont have any attachments to it. If its on its really nice. IF being key here, this isnt something im going to go buy and put in my regular rotation. Prime example of I couldnt argue one bit about this being 5 stars for anyone but its not 5 a FOR ME. Solid 4 stars.
Sonzinho de qualidade, muito gostosinho de ouvir.
Slow, predictable with a sameness between songs. Much of its very nice, but too middle-of-the-road.
She has a great voice, but all the song sounds the same after a while.
Boring.

Norah Jones’ Come Away With Me was a great listen—one of those albums that seems to create its own atmosphere around you. It felt especially perfect for a rainy autumn morning, with a warm cup of coffee and nowhere to be. There’s something wonderfully understated about the album. Jones’ soft, intimate vocals and the gentle blend of jazz, folk, blues, and country give the songs a timeless, almost dreamlike quality. Nothing feels forced or overly polished; the arrangements leave plenty of space for her voice and the mood of each song to breathe. What I enjoyed most was how effortlessly the album moves between melancholy and warmth. Songs like “Don’t Know Why,” “Come Away With Me,” and “Turn Me On” have a quiet emotional pull without ever becoming heavy. It’s music that doesn’t demand your attention, but rewards you when you give it. Overall, Come Away With Me is the kind of album that feels made for slow mornings and reflective moments. It has a cozy, intimate quality that perfectly matched the grey skies and autumn rain. A beautiful, soothing listen that I can easily see myself returning to whenever I want to slow things down.
Coffee House jazz. A very unoriginal thought.
Norah may have the most comforting voice ever. She relaxed me throughout the entire album and made me want to slow dance with the one I love.
Couldn't be more different than the last album on this list. Perfect easy listening, big fan.
This was a lovely listen
not my vibe.
A very beautiful and pleasant album. I could imagine that this album would sound great on a record player during a cold winter evening. It is warming and sweet, with several standout tracks (title track is gorgeous) but I feel it didn't hold my attention right through to the end. The piano sounds wonderful. Favourites: Don't Know Why Come Away With Me Turn Me On
This apparently was a massive hit for Jones. I had never heard it previously. It's bringing together a jazz aesthetic with what I might call a singer songwriter aesthetic. Everyone involved here is talented and at its best it's very tasteful and mildly interesting music. This is probably the best description of my experience of most of the album. At a few other times, I kind of feel like I'm on hold and tastefulness slips into a bit of blandness, at least for me. Probably won't listen to this again.
I didn't come to this thing to listen to Nora Jones. Musical wallpaper.
She has an amazing voice and it's got a very soft jazz appeal that really works for me. My only real complaint is that it's a little too samey throughout. I really like Norah Jones, but the whole album is kind of the same tempo and style. There's not a lot of variety. It does a good job of highlighting her voice and lyrics (both of which are absolutely gorgeous and soulful), but it does sort of blend together, unfortunately.
Would you like some jazz with your pop?
When I first tried to listen to listen to this about a year ago I didn't like it very much. But in the last few months I've really come to appreciate more soulful vocals so when I had the chance to listen to it now, it sounds so much more appealing. She has a great voice- comforting, relaxing, and sensual- and it definitely has the capacity to be both, powerful and soft. This album is perfect for a slower day.
Pleasant but not my thing
