Reviews (page 3 of 13)

The love of your life is the closing act at your local jazz club

Relaxing and smooth. I really enjoyed this one.

Excellent smoldering jazz.

Actually really freaking spectacular, love smooth jazz

Was an instant classic when it debuted and has aged beautifully.

One of my favorites!

I think I've only ever heard one Norah Jones song in my life before this, but this was really good! Her voice is just so soothing and smooth, and the whole album was really nice listening.

Amazing album to listen on a rainy day

I used to listen to this album soo much. Five stars simply for all the good memories

Chill, easy dinner party vibe, lovely voice

Banger nostalgic beautiful

Practically perfect in every way

Smooth, soulful, and just what the 90s needed!

She's the best and if you don't like it and think it's boring you're a scared little child

Her voice is great

One of my favorite albums. Had to break out the vinyl for it!

Wow, what an album. The light instrumentation and Norah's amazing voice just have this aura to them, like you just walked into a club and they just happened to be performing. Very easy 5 to give.

I’m at a 4.5 that I’ll bump up to a 5. I dunno, there was just something deeply entrancing about that album to me. I’ve heard of Norah Jones before this, but I’ve never heard her sing. Her voice just has such control to it while maintaining a softness that still commands a bit of authority. It is the anchor that keeps this album glued together. In terms of the instrumentation; I get the vibe – big jazzy nightclub atmosphere with a distinctly 50s/60s mood behind it. It works perfectly for this album, but it does get a little draining after about 9 or 10 songs, hence the 4.5. There’s a few covers sprinkled in here, and the one that stuck to me the most is Cold Cold Heart – that’s a song I’ve heard, but I could never remember it by name or anything. I’m glad it popped up. I think the runtime is my only complaint here, or at the very least, a lack of variance that keeps the album distinctly fresh near the end. Regardless, I thought it was great. Some super standout tracks, and even if it leans into coffee shop fodder a few times, I’m just a sucker for the atmosphere. I’m totally fine with bumping this up to a 5. I am surprised it was as big of a hit as it was though.

¡Contiene tantas piezas memorables! Don't Know Why, Nightingale o Lonestar, por ejemplo. Por algunas no sentía especal predilección, y quizás escucharlo nuevamente me ha hecho dar otra dimensión a canciones que antes no me resultaban tan significativas como Turn Me On, Painter Song y The Nearness of You. What a masterpiece!

Great voice ❣️

Love all the songs. Norah Jones has a way of creating music that you don't want to stop listening to

不错

Beautiful modern jazz record. I love Norah Jones and Come Away With Me with all of my heart.

Absolutely relaxing music. Gifted artist

Beautiful voice and world class musicians backing her. What else do you want?

Mom had this on repeat as I was a kid. Just full of bangers. Always will have a soft spot from me.

Toll, schöne ruhige Musik.

Verry smooth an silky jazzy blues. Perfect to come down after a hard day's worktime.

Incredibly beautiful

A beautiful, soulfully soft pop album. Jazz, R&B, country, it’s all here, all good.

Ravi Shankar would’ve been so proud.

A perfect album. One that truly deserves to be on this list.

I knew this album from before. Norah Jones just nailed it! It brought me back to good memories....and dances in candle light 5/5 This is a superstar album

Amazing, amazing, amazing album. Norah Jones singing is majestic.

Enjoyed it a lot. Very nice jazz for special occasions!!

Nora Jones has a stunning voice, and she makes beautiful pop song in the style of a slow, deliberate, talented jazz vocalist. Come Away with Me is her debut album, which propelled her to international stardom. The title track is a great example of the elegant, memorable songs she produces.

Perfect album. I remember buying my first set of high quality speakers and playing this album first to test them out. I was in love.

Nice 👍

Entirely lovely, all of it. I remember listening when it came out and thinking that the "Don't Know Why" single was the only one worth listening to... what a dolt I was. The tracks are familiar and all woven to be heard together. Perfect album to buy and listen to on vinyl. With a date. And whisky.

not what I usually listen to but I'm definitely saving this

Sehr schönes Album.

What an incredible album. I've loved it since 2002 and still listen to the full album several times a year.

What a beautiful voice! This album isn't the conventional "OMG you need to hear this!" but is more like a peaceful soundtrack to listen to while working or relaxing. The musicianship is top notch and the vocals weave through the soundscape to create a gorgeous musical experience. Standout tracks: Don't Know Why, Come Away With Me, Turn Me On,

Norah Jones is the perfect work vibe although you do end your day a bit sad.

Hermoso!

I've heard of her but can't name any of her songs.

What an incredible album. She has an incredible voice. One that spoke to me. Lyrics that told beautiful stories. Instrumentals that perfectly accented her voice. Not too much, not too little. Simple yet powerful. Logically I feel like this album is a four, yet my demands demands a 5. I love this album

Awesome, & beautiful music

YES!

Beautiful vocals to smooth bluesy jazz arrangements that you can totally chill out too.

A rather pleasant album to listen to. No jarring drum beats or random electronic noises. Beautifully put together compositions with Jones singing her heart out over the top. Lovely and chill.

Great relaxing tunes!

An amazing album

Norah very cute

Norah Jones is like a hot cup of coffee with a little cream on a cold, drizzly morning, which I had while listening to this album. Flawless experience.

Truly one of the great albums of all time. So angelic. So mezmorizing. Incredibly calming and a perfect album to throw on when you want to unwind and just enjoy music. I love this record. It's like a heated blanket for your ears

Really nice

Love her voice

a go-to album for me <3

Excellent. So lovely

Im not actually sure if I know much Norah Jones. If I recall correctly, I think her dad is Ravi Shankar. Not sure how relevant that is, but I’ve listened to one of Ravi’s albums before now and quite enjoyed it. Let’s hope today is a good one. Songs I already knew: Don’t Know Why, Cone Away With Me Favourites: Don’t Know Why, Cone Away With Me, Nighyingale This was such a lovely, relaxed album. The minimalist instrumentation and Norah’s lovely voice came together to make something quite beautiful. This album is auditory Lorazepam, in that it is just so relaxing. I loved listening to this. It felt like a slightly more modern Carole King album and that’s definitely a very good thing.

One time when this album was maybe a year old, I was wrapping through my hometown and old country boy in a big probably early 1980's truck with the exhaust rattling had their windows down, music turned up loud, and was belting along to this album. Maybe it was just the marketing, or maybe there's really something special about the collection of these songs by Norah and crew. Either way it seemed like it reintroduced us to a genre. Perhaps it's nostalgia but this album hits for me every time. Saw other folks putting in ratings on a scale with halves in text their review, going to start doing the same. 5/5

Norah<3 One of the best voices out there! And so chill music! Long time favorite.

Kuscheljazz als ee noch frisch war.

Love this album and got it when it first came out. A real lazy Sunday vibe. Really like this.

Like a soft maternal kiss on a fevered brow, this album makes me feel that everything is going to be ok, wrapping me in the lightest, yet most comforting embrace. It's simplicity is alluring, Norah's voice is seductive yet calming. I loved it when issued and thanks to this nudge, I realise that I still do now.

idk yet

Very sceptical of this when it popped up but I listened and was very pleasantly surprised. I always thought of Nora Jones as tedious and boring but I found the album to be extremely relaxing and chilled out. She has a beautiful voice. Glad I listened and well worthy of max star rating. 🌟

soft and gentle piano ballads with touches of smooth jazz and singer-songwriter elements. The beauty of this album is that Norah never tries to do too much on it. She keeps the instrumentation tight, the melodies unique and fresh, and doesn't lose sight of that on the whole album.

Beatiful

Perhaps a bit too familiar as I played it to death. Remembering holding baby Hana and swaying to some of these 😁. A few fillers I’d forgotten about but overall a great soft pop album with jazz, country, blues influences.

I love her voice. This has been one of my favorite albums since it first came out.

Perfect for a cold snowy night

This is the first album on this site that I already own. I love this album, though. Any song on it can calm me down and improve my mood. I am biased towards enjoying songs with prominent bass. Norah has the perfect voice for this style of music. It makes me want to put on a sweater and drink coffee in the rain. In summation, 'Come Away with Me' is a big mood.

Alright, this album slapped. Made me want to curl up on the couch with a cup of hot cocoa and just vibe with the music. Norah Jones' voice just fits the acoustic, jazzy, and smooth themes of the album so perfectly.

The day was a bit cold, clear and sunny but not bright when this album was first listened to. The smooth yet subtle rasp of Norah's voice cuts through the chill, the rich and warmly accompanying music following it, matching it, the backdrop of what ended up being a perfect time to listen. Sappy? Yeah, but that is the vibe. Coming in from the cold and into the lounge. Smoke fills the air, whiskey being swilled, but the heat is on. The album certainly underlines Norah Jones's roots in lounge/jazz music, and she is marvelous at it. Part of what makes this album incredible is that it maintains that smooth energy throughout to where even its more popular track(s) are not creating an impossible shadow to come out of.

Love ❤️ this whole album!! Every sing is a Gem 💎!!

Loved the album! Love her!

Nora Jones’ music has all the complexities of a beautiful blend of garden herbs. It has all the chord progressions expected in jazz, but carries itself like easy listening pop, with a hint of mellow country. And I love the acoustic based featured throughout. (It’s all about the bass). This album is timeless. It touches the sounds from past centennials and carries forward to the future.

Definitely brought me back to rainy days when mom made rice pudding and things felt so.... cozy. Sultry, yet soft. It just feels right. Norah Jones' "Come Away With Me" takes the listener on a moody adventure on a New York Beachside with a fireside crackling.

Beautiful

Like butter.

Amazingly quiet and controlled vocals and subtle piano accompaniment. Don't Know Why Seven Years Cold Cold Heart Come Away With Me Turn Me On Lonestar I've Got To See You Again One Flight Down

Hele fijne, warme muziek Krijgt zeeker 5 sterren en would buy want wil 'm graag!!

Love her

I've owned this one for years. Great album.

love the epic piano so good

Beautiful album, one of my favourite finds from this project

Easy 5 star review. I love Norah Jones!

I love being a boring Starbucks hipster girl listening to my Norah Jones. I will not be shamed for liking this bland album. I am proud to be basic.

I enjoyed this album quite a bit.

In reality, this is an album full of the same song. Different lyrics, but stylistically they're basically the same. But Norah Jones is just so good at what she does, it made me not care. One of the best easy listening album's I've ever heard.

this was the music teenager me needed but would've scoffed at. i wouldn't have appreciated it, but i sure do appreciate norah jones' come away with me now. overall, it was an unbelievably pleasant listen. each song was smoother than honey and so easy to digest. in that regard, i hear similarities between her and fiona apple. jones jumps between morose and sultry. the balance is just right. with a mix of original and cover songs, jones manages to come across as earnest and forthright, even when the lyrics aren't hers. her voice is working overtime to make me understand her emotions! the chill jazz inclusion only adds to how easy this album is. "painter song" has some italian vibes, too. jones allows this album to be a cohesive album with an easy flow while still making each song distinct. i want to live in this album forever. my fun fact with norah jones is that her father was ravi shankar and her godfather was george harrison. yeah, nepotism is a thing, but truly i believe jones and this album proves her own talent and creativity.

Beautiful songs, wonderful voice, and soft, relaxing jazz backing. Perfect for a glass of red wine by the fireplace.

This is a desert island album for me, for sure. i could leave this one on repeat all day. and i did.

Very unique voice on some easy listening jazz pop.

Solid Melodious Album. Felt very nostalgic and heartwarming.

its always been one of the most chill-out album out there.

Norah’s voice is just phenomenal.

Amazing

Love the piano in her music. Her voice is also amazing. The sound is really clean - more than one guitar stands out at a time, her voice, the bass. The bass really stands out which is nice - 3 songs in it feels like a jazz trio album, with her singing on it. It's such easy listening. I wonder if I'm "basic" for liking it so much, but it is just really good and enjoyable to listen to. Love me some accordion on Painter Song. I get some Stevie Wonder vibes at certain moments - really soulful.

A wonderful album from an immensely talented artist. The album has a few great songs, but most songs a good, under-produced and showcase her style and vocal talent. The songs are intimate and colorful portraits, but the headline is her voice.

I love Norah Jones and I don't believe this album is new to me so I'm not counting it in the project, but listening anyway. Don't Know Why is such a gorgeous opener. I could swim in this whole album, she really is the queen of understated beauty and vibes.

Love this album so much, puts me in a great mood! 5 stars@

5/5 on the mastering/mixing. I fall asleep to this album like once or twice a week.... Don't know why is good but not my favorite. Love the guitar of Seven Years Love the bass line of Cold Cold Heart, Inflections in the voice are very good Guitar and mixing on Feelin' The Same Way is especially good Come away with me is probably the best song on the album Shoot the moon is a 10/10 for me Turn me on is uhhm. Nice. I've Got To See You Again is the first song that feels like it diverges from the style of all of the previous songs, but not in a bad way. Very noire feeling. Painter song lives in my main music playlist. The background guitar is fantastic and the bass is very tasteful. One Flight Down is one that lives in my calmer playlist Nightingale is a very intimate singing experience that really hits the essence of what I consider a Norah Jones song. Kind of a last wind for this album. The Long Day is Over brings that feeling of slowing down as the album comes to an end. I like the vocals but don't as much like the tone of the guitar. Piano in The Nearness Of You is 5/5 Love this album and it is one I will continue to regularly listen to.

It was nostalgic

What an exceptionally beautiful voice. Just so easy to listen to.

Moody coffe shop vibes

Amazing album made me feel very calm. Classic pop romance, very smooth songs and unbelievable voice. Highly recommended.

All time coffee shop tunes

lovely jazz album. norah's voice is like milk and honey.

Nora Jones came in like a hurricane dropped this album (which has no bad songs) then fell of the face of the earth for a while. This whole album is one of the best albums I have ever heard.

I love her voice. It's raspy and smooth and sweet and sexy. The music is great too. So simple, no effects, nowhere to hide. Every track is simultaneously happy and sad. It's great.

Vraiment trop bon.

Favourite tracks: don't know why; come away with me; turn me on; seven years; nightingale

A Beautiful and delightfully sonorous "Moody little album".

This album made me more relaxed than I have felt in a good while. This was the first album so far that I just kept on repeat for like 3 or 4 playthroughs. Her voice is so calming. Loved this

Beautiful !!!

Oh, what a voice. I know I've heard Jones before - on Little Lou, Ugly Jack, Prophet John from Bella and Sebastian's Write About Love. But not very much and I didn't appreciate quite how strong a vocalist she was. I gather this was quite big at the time. Well, that would correspond to when I had very small children so it we were playing more Bob the Builder in our house. So I missed this. Whether that's a good or a and thing is anyone's guess I suppose. I rather enjoyed this and had time to listen to it more than once, which is always a good sign. It's laid back and pretty, but there's nothing wrong with that. And at times it's just what I want. It's somewhere between a 4 and a 5. Heck, it's different (for me) so it'll be a 5 then.

Beautiful voice. Puts me to sleep

Like a bit of Nora

Stellar vocal jazz.

Very smooth and relaxed blues and folk. There is not a single bad song on this one. And while there is nothing standing out in particular, this is excellent stuff. 4.5/5

Amazing!

A pleasant break from some of the oddball ones on this list.

This is a masterpiece. She won a wheelbarrel of grammy's. Come Away With Me is near perfection.

This did open jazz to lots of people. Great approachable record.

Wow, my first five star album! Absolutely ADORE this album, and Norah Jones's voice is breathtaking.

Loved this when it first came out. Over time it sometimes felt a bit too restrained - she loosens up on later albums. But listening today it hit the 5⭐ spot. The book's description of it as a "beautiful bubblebath of an album" is very apt. If some of her subsequent albums have left you a bit cold (not the case for me) then give her 2016 album Day Breaks a listen. It's a return to the sound of Come Away With Me, with more of a jazz influence, and features the late Wayne Shorter.

It was okay

Before today, I didn't think I knew Norah Jones, but as soon as I turned on the album and heard Don't Know Why, I immediately recognized it from the radio. Norah Jones is a coffee house jazz/blues fusion artist with an absolutely beautiful voice. What I immediately liked about her music was how the music took kind of a back seat to her voice, and really allowed it to shine through. This is an absolutely perfect album for sitting in a big comfy chair with a cup of coffee and a book in front of a window with sunshine coming through on a lazy Sunday afternoon. A lot of people's reviews eluded to this being a Starbucks special, and I would agree with that statement. That isn't, however, always a bad thing. It is perfect mood music for a coffee shop or a small diner. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed today's album. Maybe I needed to have a nice, calming album today, but it really resonated with me. I will definately listen to more of Norah's catalog. The fact that this was a debut album, and was still this amazing is crazy! I listened to this album front to back twice today, and have added it to regular rotation. Favourite songs: Don't Know Why, Seven Years, Shoot the Moon, Turn Me On, Lonestar, Cold Cold Heart, Nightingale Least favourite songs: The Nearness of You 5/5

Excellent album. I had forgotten about this. Somehow listening to this album makes me nostalgic for a time or place that I never experienced. It just has that feel that makes you want to sit and watch the rain fall, or slow dance, or slow dance in the rain. Pretty excellent.

Absolutely beautiful sounding. Amazing singing and every instrument is so subtle and perfect.

Such easy listening. Enchanting voice. Great 90s throwback. Awesome debut.

reminded me sox

A complete home-run for adult contemporary jazz pop, its hard to deny the appeal of it. Not necessarily my cuppa tea, but it seems to hold some near-universal quality that is good. Seems like its been burned to my memory for its 20 years of existence. It seems like beauty beyond my personal preference.

Love this album

One of my more interesting 5s. I grew up hearing Norah Jones played throughout my house and she definitely holds up. Come Away With Me and Don’t Know Why are just gorgeous songs. Great album throughout.

I fell in love with this album in 2002. I’d just stopped smoking and come out of a long term relationship and this album gave me some comfort. Silky smooth and beautiful. Sometimes I wonder if it’s just lack of familiarity with other albums that turn me off them!? If I’d had 20 years to listen to something, would I like it more!? Who knows… this grabbed me from the start though

What a gorgeous voice and a chill album

Can't believe Norah was 22 at the relase of this album. It's an indisputable classic and the work of a talented musician.

10/10 that was exceptionally beautiful pop/jazz favorite track was probably I’ve Got To See You Again for that sweet-ass fiddle alone

Wow Norah!!! Beautiful stuff, great songwriting, great performance.

I used to love listening to this album after a hard day when I was in law school. I used to pop it on my record player and play it through over and over again. It was perfect chill out music.

Chantuesse

There it is. 5

There are a couple songs in the world that I can't resist cranking the volume up to its max every time I play them, no exceptions. "Don't Know Why" is absolutely one of them. A perfect song. Sets the tone for an incredible album.

it's a culture moment

Was the perfect thing to listen to today. Loved the melodies.

So outstanding. Could listen to all day, calms me down.

Prime, essential jazzy pop as smooth and as sweet as caramel. Beyond pleasant listening.

Mellow and relaxing. Perfect to listen to after a three day weekend and returning to work.

Great album! Very calm and groovy. I loved chilling out and just enjoying the smooth enticing vibe of Jones's voice. Great listen.

Classic album, great voice, songs and jazzy arrangements.

A really chill album, great for background listening and gentle jazz.

On old favourite.

Great album. Forgot how great.

Smoky, easy listening, jazzy. Equally at home in a cocktail lounge or a dentist‘s office. “Don’t know why“ is the only song I knew going in, same coming out… Overall, I feel chill after this album.

8/10. Discazo.

solid but unadventurous. any individual song is pretty good, but none of them particularly stand out - the band isn't really given any room to work with, and while the vocal performance is strong, it's a bit one-note.

Lovely music, I akin it to a lot of the softer French cafe jazz I listen to when I want to chill out. Her voice carries the songs through and the instruments aren't complex or surprising but keep everything together in a nice little basket. The kind of songs you want to be bundled up inside with a fire when there's bad weather. The hits are notable but there were a few song outside those that caught my attention.

Cool vocals

Very enjoyable

This album was a masterclass in tasteful, articulate musicianship and eloquent songwriting. It’s the kind of stuff every coffee house singer or cabaret band dreams of making. If I had any complaint, however, it’s that the album is too tasteful, too restrained, too inoffensive, causing most of the tracks to blend together. I was just waiting for NJ to break form and belt it.

a lot of complaints about this album seem to revolve around the idea that it's boring or just too inoffensive to enjoy, but i think that's one of the things i appreciate most about it. while it's nice listening to albums where every single song is a hit and hard not to pay full attention to, i also really appreciate ones that can just sit in the background and that i can enjoy passively. for me it feels like that was the intention with this record, and it does that perfectly. i would fall asleep to this on a plane, but whether or not that's a good or bad thing just depends on who you ask i guess. favorite tracks: seven years, feelin’ the same way, lonestar, nightingale

Norah delivered a somber jazzy-pop classic with her first album. So many incredible songs about love and expressions of emotion laid over melodic jazz piano. Nothing crazy happening just really strong lyrics over easy listening piano

tranqui como para estudiar 10/10

What an amazing voice here. I feel like she has some songs that I would recognize but they weren’t on this album.

Minor trivia, she is Ravi Shankar’s estranged daughter. They played the holy shit out of this record when it came out so I came to dislike it. However it is really a pretty great album.

Leuker dan verwacht! Toffe rustige vibes

Easily my favourite of all the easy listening stuff so far. Sweet.

Love the voice. Love the lyrics. It's mellow but that's ok by me today.

I love the jazzy blues vibe of this and applaud the fact that she did Hank Williams good on Cold Cold Heart.

All sounds fairly similar. Listened at work and it flew by. Nothing remarkable but I think it would be hard to find any real distain towards this album. Review: 10/10 background music - 6/10 active listen Fave songs: Lonestar, Painter Song

A great album! Very vibe-y, chill and reminded me of toy story in a weird way, it evoked a nostalgic feeling in me from the start. Would listen to it again, some songs blurred together a little bit but still one of my instant favorites.

Really liked this

Pleasant, not revolutionary. 3.5 rounded up

Acoustic pop and soul Come away with me

Pretty good chill jazz singer vibes. Dont know why I didnt Call song had lots of radio play

What a great debut. Very accomplished.

I enjoyed the songs!

Typa music that makes you wanna wear a scarf and sip coffee

This is a great album. When it first released, it was impossible to walk into a coffee shop or gallery without it being on high rotation. Super easygoing. Awesome dad too, Ravi Shankar!!

Beautiful voice, maybe the album as a whole is little one dimensional.

In the wake of ‘Songbird’ by Eva Cassidy, there came a plethora of soothing female vocalists who sold a large number of CDs. Already a product of Indian music royalty (daughter of Ravi Shankar), this debut album by Norah Jones sold 22 million and is an elegant and calming mixture of jazz, folk and country. She has a credibility few can match in her ouvre.

Smooth, sultry, smoky, sensual. A true female crooner. Norah Jones creates beautiful mood music.

Beautiful voice, and a fairly good collection of tunes. For what it is, it's quite good.

I like Norah jones, I like feelin the same way, don’t know why, and come away with me

A lovely way to commute on a beautiful morning

Ah man, this was just beautiful today, amongst all of the other chaos and challenge, this was serenely settling.

I remember when this came out. It wasn’t really the kind of music I was into at the time, but I remember hearing it and thinking, “That’s pretty good.” Now that I’m older and my taste in music has matured, I can say with confidence this is a wonderful album. She has a beautiful voice, the music is beautiful, and together they create an album that feels warm and effortless. It has the perfect pacing and atmosphere for a lazy spring Sunday spent around the house with the wife.

Feels like yesterday

This is just a beautiful melodic album. Norah Jones’s voice is so rich and soft and the tracks bring this and her piano playing firmly to the fore. Come Away With Me and Dont Know Why are obvious standouts but the rest holds its own. Painter Song feels like a Parisian bistro on a warm summer’s day. The Long Day is Over sounds like the end of a night in a good jazz club.

Consistently beautiful and tender and so on. I worry I'll lose interest on a relisten but the songs feel varied enough that this may not be the case. Another album where I had to stop adding highlights, which was a pleasant surprise from one I had never heard of. Highlights: "Don't Know Why", "Feelin’ The Same Way", "Lonestar"

Absolute goliath of an album. so close to a no skip album

It's hilarious that reviewers on this site will complain about an album for sounding like "Starbucks music", then turn around and give 5 stars to Boomer Bar Rock Album #43. This is a lovely listen, and while it might not be a mindblowing experience on its own, it does stand out from the usual 1001 fare. Smooth and jazzy instrumentation beautifully complements Norah Jones' singing, which itself brings all ranges of emotion. I enjoyed it a lot! Standouts: Don't Know Why • Turn Me On • Lonestar • I've Got To See You Again • Nightingale

Featured on every British 00s romcom. So pleasing though

Early 2000s contemporary jazz wasn't high on my list of expectations for this list This definitely faded into the background on the first pass. I gave a couple of songs a second listen because it was a pleasing enough background. A second listen definitely clarified my feelings more. Some of the songs, the title track being a good example, have this character almost like acoustic pop which I just don't fuck with The more lounge singer stuff like "Cold Cold Heart" and "I've Got To See You Again" by comparison I really liked, and I think makes up more of the album Lots to like, a bit to be ambivalent about, which leaves me feeling conflicted. I think 3.5 rounds to 4 here

MAKING MY RETURN TO 1001 ALBUMS BECAUSE THIS ALBUM IS SO SICKENING TO ME... when i couldn't sleep as a child, i would go to my parents' room and they'd let me stay for a bit, then eventually they'd have to go back to sleep, so my mum would tuck me into bed and put on norah jones' "come away with me" on my CD player. as soon as she left i always felt so alone and i would cry though the album until i eventually fell asleep - especially, there's one song that goes like "just a little girl with nothing wrong, and she's all alone" and that one would always make me cry extra hard it clearly did help me sleep because the start album is way more familiar to me than the end of it i've tried to listen to this album as an adult hoping that it might be relaxing but every time it makes me so sad i feel sick. idrk how to rate it so it's getting a 4/5 because of its significance to me and the fact it's an amazing album but i'm removing 1 star because I actually can't listen to it

Muy bonito

A really pretty and very relaxing album, very diverse without being very whiplashy. Norah Jones has a lovely voice too. Will definitely be revisiting in future, could possibly have been a bit shorter but overall very good

Norah Jones - Come Away With Me 4.5/5 Favorite song: Turn Me On Least Favorite Song: Nightingale

finest record, finest vocal, finest songs ever

This will grow on me. It's a sweet album. Once I got past the tracks I was familiar with when it came out, I was able to listen, and there were some engaging, more expressive things there.

When I first started listening to this album, I thought for sure I would be giving it a 1 or 2 rating. Putting it back on again first thing in the morning, I'm finding it very peaceful and relaxing. Does it feel like I'm in a Hallmark movie? Yes. Do I like that this sounds like an egotistical, manipulative, user girl I knew back in the day who sang like this? No. Do I like this country/jazz fusion? Maybe... Her voice is really pretty and the instruments are too. It's like listening to Christmas music, but it's not actually Christmas music. I think I like it.

Not one, but TWO songs on the “Maid in Manhattan” soundtrack?? Yup, that’s what really makes this album a classic in my humble opinion.

This album surprised me. I remember when Norah Jones debuted and hearing "Don't Know Why" a lot. But besides that song, she kind of just faded away and I didn't know too much about her. Based off the one song I did know I almost expected it to get similar to Adele: gorgeous voice but boring. But the album was not like that. It was really lovely. The songs are similar in style, but I was engaged the whole time. I enjoy jazz, so I loved the fusion of jazz with pop/blues/etc.

not a bad album to wake up to

3.5, really nice

I find it comforting and pleasant. Sure, I associate it with Starbucks, but who cares. I liked "I've Got To See You Again", and don't think I had heard it before. Some of the other non-hits may as well have not been there.

Pretty easy listening but an excellent voice and good music

Sensual, chill, heartfelt. This album is 45 minutes of acoustic pop at is near finest.

Just an amazing voice. Nor surprising with her lineage. Anyone that can do THAT to Hank Williams is ok in my book.

A modern classic

bizarrely racist top reviews for this one

Might not be my favourite genre, but the quality of this album just shines out. Lovely.

Outstanding voice. Great album.

Not my kind of music but I still enjoyed it quite a bit

Beautiful music.

While I can't say for sure whether Norah Jones was doing something remarkable or otherwise for the time, I am sure that this is a lovely collection of vocal jazz songs with really delicate arrangements. On the rare occasion that this crosses into what one might describe as the "upbeat" this becomes almost groovy, but that does nothing to disturb the carefully put together vibe, here! I'm sure there's a lot of other albums just like this one, but I'm just as sure that number would be much much lower had the people who made those other records not heard this. 4*

Amazing listen.

She’s got a great jazz-pop voice (right in the sweet spot b/w sweet and sultry), and this makes for lovely dinner-party background music, but it is a little placid. Check out Norah and Billie Joe duetting on folk songs instead! 3.5 stars

Ah, the soothing voice of Norah Jones is always a gift, but especially on a day when I probably am too tired to process anything else.

This is from a world that no longer exists. Where everybody lives in beautiful Tuscan homes with jars of pickled vegetables as decor. Where you meet the love of your life at some random local coffee shop with "global village" art covering the walls. A more optimistic world. Favorite track: Don't Know Why

A warm summer evening

Essa mulher é incrível), “Feeling The Same Way”, “Lonestar” e “Seven Years”.

Truly beautiful but started a music trend of folk girlies. It’s so fucking good tho

It was a relaxing, easy-listening album. Although I thought her voice was kind of breathy, she makes it work with the songs she chose for this album.

i could cry. shes incredible

I was familiar with the first song on this album, it was a pleasure to listen to the whole thing. Warm, slow and nostalgic

'Driving in the car with your mom'-core music. Don't Know Why is an absolute banger.

Is this an early-2000s "starbucks album"? It sure is. But it's also lovely.

Nice album, liked her back then. Timeless music, laid back and somehow soothing and relaxing, just at the brink of boring.

Really smooth and good. Nice for a long road trip today in the background

A sort of 21st century folk (i think)

Pretty perfect for what it does right? Vocal jazz, adult contemporary whatever - you can definitely do it wrong and Norah Jones does it right

Heard a lot of songs I hadn’t heard before and was very soothing to the soul

a very quiet, kinda jazzy acoustic pop album. it feels like the kind of music that would be performed live at an upscale café, listening to the quiet music play as you sip coffee and stare out the window. this is a very soft, very relaxing album. i know that certain songs from this album are popular on platforms like tiktok for accurately conveying the "2000s tuscan mother" aesthetic. and i agree wholeheartedly. i feel like a mother in the 2000s. perhaps my own mother, years younger and living life casually. making food, watching soaps and taking it easy. it's such a specific sound.

Beautiful album of covers in Norah's lovely voice.

An album that finally lives up to this books expectations. Feelin’ the same should have been the album’s A track easily. I’ve got to see you again, probably the weakest and feels like an insert movie. Overall pretty good album.

Really good album with some classics. Thoroughly enjoyed

Solid album. Nice sounds and a great voice. Not as many really great songs as I thought there might be but overall very good.

girly pop vibes, slow and steady with a groove - best listened to cycling home on a summer evening or making girl dinner at home!

Saved? ✅ Would listen again? ✅ Would recommend to anyone? ✅ Would buy on Vinyl? ✅

Aaah, Norah. Such a nice, relaxing album. Great voice, subtle, jazzy piano and a chill vibe. Some might write it off as dull, but at times this is just what you need to decompress.

Norah Jones = female John Mayer

I don't know that this was groundbreaking or anything, but I listened to it twice in a row.

4/5 re lindoo, chill vibes y piano. quizas se merece 5/5 ehhh

Heerlijke muziek

Zone out a lil bit. Had one song liked from her already

Solid folksy blues ish sound

After close to 30 hours of travel, and spending the day in the chaotic, filthy beauty of Saigon, this was exactly what I needed to calm my overstimulated brain.

Very good, a bit long

Great voice. Album is a little slow overall

Classic album, brings me straight back to living with mom around the age of 13. This was her favorite album and she listened to it most mornings when she was feeling good.

It feels like this album is buried deep in my mind. It feels so nostalgic, maybe because I was two years old when it came out. Coffee shop music in a good way, back when going to the cafe with my mom felt like an exciting and adult thing to do. Peak white culture right here.

The existence of Starbucks and overpriced coffee is not the fault of this artist. The fact that she makes music that old people isn't some scheme, just the way it is and maybe good marketing. I'm a sucker for her voice, she could be singing an Applebee's menu and I would get misty. The duet she did with Dolly Parton is amazing. My wife had this album when we were dating and it was too slow for me then (hello Blink 182) but 25 years later giving it a full listen I am finding a lot to enjoy.

really nice

Smooth

Nice. Norah has lovely vocals. The mixes of jazz and folk and country influences are interesting. This is a smooth album and i could see it being an ideal soundtrack for evening projects and relaxation.

fav songs: don't know why cold cold heart come away with me the long day is over the nearness of you tender, cozy, melodic 70/100

A lovely, relaxing album. Really enjoyed this

Un deleite sonoro

Honestly I really enjoyed this. After so many eccentric and out-there records, a nice and grounded pop/R&B album is such a sweet, refreshing change of pace. The melodies are silky smooth, much like the vocals. The individual tracks aren't that groundbreaking or challenging, but that's alright. Listening to this in a cafe with a warm coffee and a sunny day out makes your whole day brighter. It just kinda feels like home. Only thing I could say is that the album is on the longer side, and with the tracks being relatively safe, it can feel a little same-y near the end. 4/5.

Nice soothing music. Great voice. But really all the same style the whole album.

Norah Jones got a magnificent voice, but it gets old really fast. Great if you put the songs spread apart in your playlist.

I've always loved Norah Jones's voice and vibe. This is a perfect Sunday morning album: calming, soulful, and beautiful. Many of the songs blend seamlessly into one another, but it works well for this album.

Norah Jones has such an amazing voice. Very soothing.

Aaah beautiful

While definitely overplayed when it came out, it felt so good to hear it again after many years. It is like a warm blanket next to a roaring fire, so soft, so smooth. Happy to have revisited this album and probably will do so again.

did not take track by track notes--overall soft, smooth, and good. no complaints but maybe not *great* per se? sad rainy day music. probably in the upper 3.x range, so rounded to 4/5.

I’ve always loved “I Don’t Know Why”, so it’s nice to hear the whole album!

This was really nice, I want to listen to it again for sure

Absolutely love this one

Goated for a rainy tram commute lowkey

À Groix

Definitely coffee shop music but a local, fair trade coffee shop with a good dark roast and homemade cinnamon buns not some corporation dirt water place
